[HOW TO] Automatically Enable Force 4x MSAA on Boot? - Tasker Tips & Tricks

Please help me guys. I'd like to ask you guys bout how to turn the Force 4x MSAA on everytime i turn on my phone. It will drain my battery so fast. And i already knew it. But i also know that it will improve my phone's performance such as scrolling, dragging, moving app to app, playing games etc more aggressively

which phone? android?

You can do that by using secure setting with tasker.
As I do the same.

Hi, could you explain how to configure this in Tasker with Secure Setting?
Thanks!

Using the Secure Settings app, I can't seem to find a 4x MSAA option under neither "Root Actions" and also not when playing with Actions -> Device Settings in the Tasker plugin. Tried several rooted and non-rooted devices. Ironically, just about any other develolper option is there. @aillez: Care to elaborate?

Hey folks,
I just want to show you my new app.
It allows you to
turn off your display while it's locked by a double tap
turn off your screen by a double tap on your status bar
open another app instead of What's New (home button swipe up gesture)
If you want to read more go to the official app thread.
Works great! Thank you sir.

@RocketSauce83
Why do you want it as a Xposed Module?
The problem with Xposed and Root is the lower amount of reachable users.
(And the bad ratings from .... (I speak from the experience of my other apps))
Also the app has the possibility to work without changing the system,
so I don't get it why you want it as a Xposed Module.

I tried that features - replace what's up - but nope, won't work.
I removed what's up from system weeks ago, is that what's causing problems?

@funky0308 Yeah, that's a problem.
The app is focused on users without rooted devices.
This function checks if what's new is at the front.
If yes it starts the selected app.
So it uses a small trick to customise the function.
So it doesn't work if we have root? When I open the app, I only see Facebook and Twitter then when I click Facebook nothing happens?
Nope, it should also work if your phone is rooted.
I just said that you can't "replace" What's New with my app if you uninstalled it.

App - auto run setting

I'm confused by this setting. It appears whenever I install a new app or update existing ones.
(1) what does it do?
(2) when is it disabled? Slider to the left on right?
(3) where else in the settings can you find this?
Anyone? It's really bugging me!
Ive only seen it in permission settings on custom roms or the app ops app. Should be slider to left to turn off auto run. Are you using custom rom or have permission manager installed?

I'm still pure stock, SM-N9200. Only modification I've done is disable a bunch of stuff using Package Disabler Pro!
This is a marshmallow feature that's already been incorporated in the note 5... It gives you full control on all app permissions and the ability to prevent auto start at boot or on syncing... For example, if you don't want Facebook to keep syncing whenever you switch the WiFi on and want it to update/ sync only when you open the app... You can do it now

Third Party App Notifications not working unless App is Open

I've noticed that if you use a third party app for SMS like Signal, you dont get a notification unless the application is open, same with gmail.
Has anyone else noticed this?
go to advance setting >battery manager >protected app and check if application is not checked on , that's mean when screen is off the application will not work unless you open it... so if you need notification from certain apps just mark it on

This is a the 'doze' function in Huawei EMUI. A lot of firmwares have this issue. It's because Huawei has blacklisted many apps to not to send notification when screen is off. The apps that are white-listed include WhatsApp and some Chinese Tencent crap.
There is a method to enable notifications for all apps but obviously that requires root.
And yeah, Welcome to EMUI, a UI that plays with your emotions.

I find this quite worrying as a potential P9 owner. Is there a list somewhere of these black/white listed apps?

All I can say is I have turned on every apps to run when the screen is off. I do t get any notifications, only if I go on the app or if I turned the phone off then back on I get a batch of notifications. I receive certain apps notification but its not consistent. Can't wait for a good root, to get rid of this crappy EMUI and hopefully the camera app will be ported, I'm happy with the pbone, the camera, but this UI is from hell.
Weird, I have 0 issues with notifications, everything turns up very quickly. Gmail, whatsapp, youtube comments... Etc.
I also use Nils lockscreen notifications though, I have the huawei lockscreen notification system disabled. It works very well like this until I find the time to root.

How did you disable it? Mine is greyed out saying locked by administrator and I haven't. This UI is starting to P me off. Think touchwiz will see me again soon ?
Have you looked at apps > phone manager > notification centre?

I only disabled the huawei lockscreen notification system (to disable the lockscreen all together you need root). Just use any lockscreen other than the stock magazine one in the theme selecter.
The UI certainly is different. But imho customizable enough that it doesn't get in the way. This is android after all.

OK if you guys have root i have something to try for you. I had issues with the process of GMD gesture control. It was killed by the battery saving tools implemented in this phone.
So I tried freezing certain system apps through titanium to find the one responsible for closing the background process and I think I found it:
It's a process/app called "power genie". I disabled it and now the process sticks. Also I made gesture control a system app, so maybe it's a combination of the two things.
It's not the same issue as you had but maybe it works for you too.

So does this method allow for notifications to come through without having firstly opened the application then going to home-screen with it still open?

You'd have to try that out for yourself because I never had any issues with notifications coming through and I use third party software (Nils) for lockscreen notification.
What I described is a method that prevents a Huawei "power save" service called power genie killing background processes. No guarantees though, I had issues with gmd gesture control not working after a few minutes and I had to constantly open the app to make it work again. Then I froze power genie and since then it worked 100%.
So it's just my theory that it might stop other apps/processes from being closed as well.
I still dont get notifications coming through via the official gmail app, i might trying that power genie freeze, since any app thats not Huawei wont come through as a notification and thats when I give the app full access.'
I'm not sure if this is worth a try, but there's an option to 'ignore optimisations' on a per-app basis.
In settings > Apps > Advanced > Ignore optimisations > All apps
I've instructed to ignore optimisations for Dash, an app with a background service that launches the app upon connection to my car's Bluetooth OBD. I'll feed back if this has any impact, as I've noticed it doesn't auto-start the app on the Huawei P9 as it used to on my Nexus 5, despite 'protecting' the app in the battery manager.

If it's just Gmail, try deleting cache and data for the Gmail app and reboot first. My wife had the same issue just with the Gmail app a few days ago (on a galaxy s3 though).
Same issue with Instagram so I guess it's not only gmail

Push notifications still not working for some apps

Hi all.
I am sure this question has been asked again and again.
But I am having troubles with push notifications working for some apps
I.e. Pushbullet, kaokaotalk
They don't work unless i open the app.
WhatsApp and Facebook seem to be working fine.
Anyone have an absolute fix?

They have been setup as protected apps etc already

Try adding them to the memory whitelist.
Phone manager>system optimization (paintbrush)>settings (gear top right)>memory cleanup whitelist
My understanding is apps in this list will not clear the memory when you "kill" the app. I could be wrong. Please respond to this post if this fixes your problem or not.
Two important settings, under Battery (protected) and under "Apps" (ignore optimization). Also try to put CPU to performance

Solve -> Problem with Pushover notification on lockscreen
my notification did not show on notification and lock screen.
1. Phone manager>system optimization (paintbrush)>settings (gear top right)>memory cleanup whitelist
2. Setting>advanced settings>Battery manager>Power plan> Smart or Performance>
3. Setting>advanced settings>Battery manager>Protected apps> Turn on for Whatsapp and Pushover
4. Clean Master < I think this is the culprit causing problem > Ensure Tools>Notification Cleaner is disable. My was enabled. and it cause notification not to show on the Lock Screen.

I have a note 8, but emui 4.1 is pretty standard across the line. Having the exact same issue. Have tried the PNF, whitelisted google play and whatsapp in the memory whitelist, protected apps, ignore battery optimizations etc.
I can repeat the error. So it seems that it ignores the whitelist like you suspected.
Steps. Clear all apps.
Open quicksync manually sync accounts that i want to show up.
Notifications appear.
Go to app task manager view with the square button, kill app.
Send message. No dice.
Have even tried using the PNF heartbeat fix, but to no effect.
Now i have one odd issue. When i received the device, google play services was already installed, but some how it was in the system folder despite the phone being locked. Not sure if that is an issue, since if anything i would suspect that would be helpful instead of harmful, but i have no way of removing it to test since bootloader is locked , and the play services is persistent over a factory reset.
Anyways, any other solutions i have not thought of would be helpful, huawei makes such nice devices, but if you get stuck on a chinese rom, it can be a nightmare for some.. went through the same headache with mate 7 but managed to solve its notifications issues.

Yes I have tried that. For now I think i will just add my chat clients and aquamail to the locked status on the task manager and keep them open... I have tried all iterations of power saving, etc.. so I think it may just be the build unfortuneately. Hopefully EMUI 5.0 will be a bit less invasive, as they said they are going back to a more stock android vibe to compete in international markets.
Hello, I am in the exact same situation. Did you get some luck?
I updated mine to emui5, but nothing changed.
Do you have a AL10 chinese version? I am thinking that this might be the point.
Thank you.

Apps Running in Background and Autorun at Start-up

Hi, my P20 Pro had EMUI 9.1.
Even before the update, apps stopes running in the background and not starting at start-up.
I.e. Automate, Shpock, etc and after the 9.1 update Nova Google Companion stopped running as well.
I’ve tried Manu > Battery > App launch and changed these apps to manage manually, but no luck.
Any help /advise will be highly appreciated.

The only thing I can think of is maybe an option in the app itself to start on boot. Otherwise try to reinstall the app and before running it the first time, set those options.

Check for ignore optimizations in the search bar in the settings app.
Then, find your app and click allow. This will prevent it from getting killed in the background since doze in EMUI is hard coded (i think) inside the os
