Hi there,
i'm using a S3 Mini rooted with a stock rom, and i was watching the things that drains my battery the most and found out that
Google play services is draining 48% while the display is draining 22%. I've uninstalled Google play services updates and download the latest, and now it's draining 44%.
I've also found that there's an app called "app ops" that could fix this but couldn't install the apk file, seems like it's not compatible with my phone.
So is there any solution to stop google play services from draining such a huge amount of battery?
Thanks in advance people.

I noticed that Google Services was causing an insane amount of wakelocks when I let Google Apps use my location, especially Google Now. Thousands of wakelocks within hours seemed kind of insane - specifically NLPWAKELOCK AND NLPCOLLECTORWAKELOCK. After researching the issue a bit, I found that some people in other forums had success by installing the Play Store version of Play Services, replacing whatever came with the ROM.
So, what I did was uninstall Google Play Services through Titanium. I then launched Maps, which immediately said I needed Play Services and it sent me to the store. I installed the latest Play Services and noticed a dramatic drop in the wakelocks. Now, I get about 50 location wakeups per hour and much better battery performance.

Google Services is killing my battery with its incessant wakelocks! How do I get rid of this?
I flashed my phone a few days ago... from ICS to JB 4.1.2.... I also loaded NOPE kernel and overclocked to 850 MHz. I thought it was the overclocking that was killing my battery but it looks like it's some of the google services.... they keep cpu wakelocking the phone while it should be sleeping. I mean come on, 6444 wakes in 15hrs?
I see that it's a common issue but there doesn't seem to be an easy fix. Can anyone walk me through what they did to solve? attached are my battery/wakelock stats for reference
You can always greenify it (play store -> greenify). Mind it does restart quite often, so it is a real pain, but most of the google apps depend on it. You could also go to google settings on the phone, and in the location section disable location reporting and location history. This is the main battery killer in google services.
P.S. What's the rom you're using on the pictures?
I read that turning off both GPS and network location services will help fix this.... but then all my apps become dumb. I'm looking at the Google Services screen in Wakelock Detector (image first post) and I can see the wake count for different functions or programs. e.g. NetworkLocationLocator woke 206 times, but GTALK_CONN woke 1668. Is there any way to disable certain aspects of the Google Services app or is it an all or none scenario?
P.S. What's the rom you're using on the pictures?

It's Speed Droid by addictz10 with the Samsung S5 skin (it's called CM11 CM10.2 TouchWiz 5.0 theme in the Store). The first green pic is using Wakelock Detector and the other 2 are the OS Battery screen.
Well, as for gps, you can turn it off, because it is rarely needed for your phone to have that precise information on your whereabouts. As for network location service, don't turn it off, just turn location reporting and location history in google settings (not phone settings). As for gtalk, well, you'll have to uninstall hangouts and to disable/remove google talk to stop that behavior. I don't think that there is a way of stopping certain wakelocks, and I agree that it would be great if it could be done...
Can someone more knowledgeable make a list of all the bloatware we can safely remove from out phone? So far i have disabled:
Google Play Books
Google Play Movies
Google Play Music
Google Play Newsstand
Google +
Hangouts
LGSetupWizard
Play Games
LG SmartWorld
There is more but I don't know if it is safe to disable? I have the international version.

You can find other LG bloatware under priv-app
Based on what I know now, root access is needed to remove these apps as they're preloaded...
But I don't know whether it's changed or...

I actually screwed up my phone by deleting some apps (mostly Google). Every time I wanted to launch settings it would just crash. And stupid me didn't even think to make a back up of the apps. so moral of the story? Always be sure to back up the app before uninstalling.

Hey, I've been using my d410 for almost 6 months now. Battery life used to be amazing. I've rooted my phone, and removed a ton of bloatware with titanium backup. Don't have any games installed either. Over the last two weeks, the battery has started heavily draining. According to battery usage, the biggest culprit seems to be the OS (4.4.2) it eats up anywhere between 45-55% of the battery. Even in standby mode or at night, I lose about 10%!!! I used to charge the battery only when it was less than 5% quite frequently, could that have damaged my battery? Also many times my battery takes almost 6hrs to completely charge! I'd really like some help! Thanks in advance

install watchdog app from play store. it will detect if any app draining battery. if it didn't detected any app, then it might be battery problem. also give a try to another charger. :good:
I'd actually used watchdog quite some time back, but it didn't seem to help me. I guess it could be a battery problem... Can't say for sure. I read up a bit, and it turns out kitkat 4.4.2 eats up a lot of battery. So I plan to Flash my rom. Hope it'll help. Btw, gsam battery monitor is pretty useful to check which apps are actually eating up chunks of the battery.
Can I ask how can uninstall Google Chrome and Hangouts from my LG L90 after the Lollipo update? I usually use Clean Master to uninstall these bloatwares (rooted, of course), and I could remove then while in KitKat, but now those apps can't be removed because they appear as blocked.
Opening the details, Hangouts says it breaks SMS functions on Google Device, but I have an LG. Google Chrome reports that when uninstalled I won't be able to use default browser, but AFAIK I've set the UC Browser as default lon time ago (however, prior the root)
There are others like Dictionary, File Manager (I prefer ES Explorer) and so on, all blocked.
Hi, I want to know if there is a better version of Google Play Services compatible with the latest Google Apps like Gmail, Keep and Calendar, cuz the last one available in the Play Store drains my battery very fast, and if I do a downgrade to the factory version that the phone has the battery drain stops, but I CANT use these app that are update; the phone says all time that I need to update Google Play Services for get some apps working but I dont want the last version cuz the problem that it generates :/
Any idea or help?

You can downgrade your Google Play Services apk but it will self update and some applications will not work without the latest version of Google Play Services. My battery is also draining fast because Google Play Services is forcing my phone to stay awake. But now it seems to be fine. Just give it some time to settle.
Has anyone noticed a lot of battery drain from Google Play Store since updating to 5.1.1? the only way I can stop the drain, is to disable Google Play Store.
I am happy to report that the problem was with apps not being able to update in the play store! After trying the troubleshooter I found in the Play Store I had Google call me and after trying a few other things, she had me delete my Google account and reinstall it. That was the last step before a factory reset! It corrected the problem I was having, and I hope it helps some of you, too!
It does this to me if you have updates that need to install. Hopefully marshmallow will fix how often it tries to sync. It's very active in the background. I believe you can choose to not have it sync in your settings menu. It may help. Mine still last a long tie but you are dead on with drainage. I noticed this right away when I updated to 5.1.1
I figured out that I can no longer update or download ANYTHING from play store
My battery life is back to normal.
