Witch head unit for my 2012 Ford Focus?

I'm a little bit confused...
I've bin looking for a good aftermarket head unit for my 2012 Ford Focus.
I found a few devices witch are based on the S160 platform like roadnavi.
Also a device witch is marked as 5.1.1 <LINK> witch seams to be on a mtcd base.
Im not sure if there is a devices available on a mtcb base for my car model.
What i read on xda, mtcb is the most popular an mod friendly device, mtcd is maybe to new on the market.
Have any of you guys a recommendation for me? Maybe one have the same car?
Thanks, Stefan
hello,
i have a 2013 ford focus.
Sad to see that here is no answer since 1 year.
iam looking for a replacement head unit too
have you found a headunit?
regards Christoph
I bought my unit from that company I have a 2011 Focus. Been working great for more than a year now.
It supports steering wheel controls, OEM reverse sensors, displaying which doors are open including boot. I also bought the boot handle camera and wired that up.
The only downsides are BT audio isn't the best, so I play all my music off USB.
And it seems like the PX3 units drain a little power when the car is off but I've always been able to start my car so probably not a big issue.
I flashed my unit with a KD rom as it looks nicer and updated my MCU to the latest version for KGL.
Here are a few head units for you to look at:

Amplifier identification for Joying Units - VW Passat 2012 B7 Europe variant

Hi , I am planning to buy a Joying Android 5.1.1 Intel 2GB Headunit but i am not sure if i have an amplifier in my car.
The car was bought as a " used car " so i have no idea if the previous owner had installed any amplifier.
How can i find out firstly if i have an amplifier and secondly the make/location of this amplifier.
I am not an expert in sound quality so if my question seems silly, bear with me
Car : VW Passat 2012 B7 estate model (Europe) with RNS310 headunit
PS :Google was not at all helpful , hence turning to our forum for answers
Thanks in advance !

Hi, anybody? ?
You do not need an amplifier to use this radio.
In order to find an amplifier, have a look at your battery, see if there is a big 6 or 8 guage power wire attached, these are usually related to amplifiers, if so, follow this wire to your amplifier.
Also, check for a blue wire coming from the back of your stereo. It will be labelled AMP REMOTE.
It will also have some AV cables coming from the rear of your radio. You can follow these to the amp also.
Usually check under the seats or in the boot.

BMW and android

I am in the process of getting a BMW . However it does not come with android auto. . . I was really expectin going to get a car with android auto integration. The other option is Audi.
Anyone who has used AA and BMW idrive can comment please. . . .
Currently I am just using my phone as a stand alone device without android auto as I found that AA was limiting my phone
With the current development going on with Android Auto i would personally never again get a car without it. So BMW is not an option for me If you are not aware of the possibilities of AA, check out the other threads here, especially the one with the "unofficial SDK".
BMW is basically designed around Apple phones.
What BMW Series are you looking at? If you are more the Android type of guy - i would consider getting a VAG car. If you're going for premium. Yeah - Audi all the way. If not: Seat Leon / Ateca, Skoda Octavia Karoq depending on what car size you want. VAG also support the Exlap protocol which can be used to communicate with the car.

Yea by VAG i mean Volkswagen (Audi, Seat, Skoda, VW) since they basically work the same way. If you're in the market for the X3 check out the Seat Ateca, Skoda Kodiaq or VW Tiguan - ( though that would be boring if your wife has one )
Especially the Ateca (FR trim) has some nice things for its price, like wireless charging, full led head lights. If you configure a BMW like that you end up paying a lot more (obviously). That is if you can live with not having a premium badge. If you can't maybe get an Audi Q5. But make sure you have a touchscreen display (depending on the year/trim). In my opinion android auto without touchscreen (button control) is a failure

Awesome. Thanks
I'm hugely disappointed by BMW's attitude on this. But it's arrogant for them to say that they want to own the user experience and hence not add support for Android Auto. It would be fine if they were any good at UX, but their in-car systems are basically hopeless and BMW ought to be embarrassed about it. Top features include:
* Real-time traffic data that is laughably inaccurate. Google is telling you "warning: 9-mile tailback ahead, divert off next junction"... meanwhile BMW is telling you "Everything's _great... just keep on the motorway and you'll be fine."
* No integration with popular apps, e.g. Spotify
* Voice recognition that is flaky at best
* A handwriting input system that's only usable (on RHD) if you're left-handed, i.e. about 10% of the population.
* Maps that take forever to update with new roads etc. Google Maps had new dual-carriageways online when the road opened... BMW Maps finally added the road almost a year later!
As a consequence, my £50k car has a smartphone stuck in front of the BMW screen. Go figure.
Don't get me wrong, I love my BMW. I'll love the new one next week too -- it will be my fourth on the trot, but still, every time I get in the car, it irks me that it's so awkward -- phone audio through the car, media audio through the car, GPS guidance through the handset, phone sliding around on the dashboard... What are they thinking?
FWIW.

I was debating between BMW and audi and went with Audi only for this reason... Was quite disappointed that BMW would provide car play but not android
However there are few android car interfaces that are available in the market

I got a Skoda Ocativa yesterday. and im pretty new to all this. do you mean that you can only use AA with the USB cable when you say Exlap protocol. or is there any other way to get AA from the Phone on the car screen ( guess not from what i read it will come with P )? or is it possible tho use AA as the standard system on the car. i have not found any way to do that. for now just via the phone with the cable.
Thanks in advance
Get an E90. Install Xtrons. Enjoy Android everything
iDrive is not even close to this unit.
From the US
I have read this thread and it seems that a number of people want to throw the baby out with the bathwater. A BMW is a BMW: The Ultimate Driving Machine. If you are a BMW enthusiast, then you won't buy another brand.
Unlike most Americans (57%), I won't use an Apple product. So my Android phones cannot be utilized in a BMW and most other brands. Only Mazda is brought in with Android Auto as standard.
I'm about to sign for my 8th BMW and will just have to live with using my phone for GPS. It's a very small price to pay for getting The Ultimate Driving Machine.
I know the feeling, BMW 2017 model with apple car integration but using an android phone. No auto and really annoyed about the lack of integration. The only comfort i have is Amazon auto addon to at least add voice comms to the car for music

I am disappointed that my "new" to me, well, 4 year old BMW, is actually no better equipped, electronically speaking ( and in some other ways) than the 15 year old (admittedly top of their range at the time) Renault I was driving until recently. I'll stick with it for a while I guess, lances that boil now, have had a PREMIUM German car, can feel it's a drivers car and all that, but, driving in the city, or even the motorway, what difference. Disappointed overall.

RCD 330 Plus. Get the B Version in Order to use Android Auto

help with my choice (px30 or px6)

Hi, I have a px5 4gb unit in my old car, its great although it always had a problem where the touch screen wold become unresponsive after a while (which is annoying).
I bought another car and started looking for a new radio again, i love the sound of my alpine unit but hate how they look, the android units win.
I ordered a new unit from xtrons but didnt realize it was a px30 unit, i meant to get a px6.
Is the px30 worse than my previous px5 unit? Should i return the px30 and get a px6?
Anyone had any experience with the px30? Are they any good?
I'd love to get some views on the px30, or if i should just return it (it arrives tomorrow)
Thanks in advance,
Jas
Hello everyone. I think about buying Android radio for my car. I have two options: px30 and px6. Second one is 200PLN (about 55usd) more expensive. Is px6 worth it? Except processor these radios are identical. The same Android 10, same UI etc. I'm just wondering if px30 is enough for that radio, or I should take more efficient version. What would you choose?
PX6 better than PX5 , PX5 better than PX30
Any experience with the px30? I only really use it for google maps and music. Anyone got one? The style I like isnt available in px6 yet also they're pricey.
Thanks
