Hey all.
All the info 'on' my phone says I have the C6603. In settings and also *#*#7378423#*#* shows I have a C6603. I'm on O2 locked. Just connected my phone to PC companion and it said I have a C6602.
I did root my phone last week and installed a ROM or 2, but in the end reverted back to my original firmware via Flash Tool and have been on this since.
Am I missing something?

Searched a lot!!
I've searched in the middle east for the C6603 model but unfortunately it's not available, only the C6602. Any idea if it's existing in the middle east or will it be available sometime in the future?
I guess the only difference between both is the LTE, right?

Difference between C6602 and C6603
Hi,
"The difference between those two only in Data network technology. The C6603 support 4G LTE with three band 3G HSDPA, the C6602 only support five band 3G HSDPA without LTE."
I have Sony Xperia Z C6603 purple bought from Ankara/Turkey. We do not have 4G. But "dual carrier" option form Turkcell and Vodafone.
I have heard, after 4,2 a final 4,22 version will be the final for 4.x.x serie. They will pass 5.x.x after that.
Do anyone hopes or waits for a Windows 8 variant from Sony? Generally after 1 year, Sony makes a slight upgrade but not is OS base. Like first Walkman phone w800 a slightly updated w810 become available in 2006. So I am not waiting a Windows 8 phone from Sony before 2015.
The biggest disadvantage for this phone, it definitely needs a charging dock. USB port, may become loose and allow water, after some time. They must have include it to the retail box, rather than selling it as an option. (coded as DK26 in three color)
The second disadvantage is onboard memory. 16GB is too low. Usable memory left about 10GB! Yes, but gladly we have SD memory slot. I have searched Sony's Japanese site, it says there is support for 64GB for Xperia Z like ZL. Generally this option is marked as 32GB for Xperia Z. This is probably because of, Sony still doesn't produce 64GB SD memory.
Another slight problem comes from cassette tape time. FM reception still needs headphone cord. I am 43 now, this headphone cord for FM necessity comes from +25 years, as far as I know. We have every antenna in the case, but not for this FM radio. I have bored connecting the headphones plugged in for it! Moreover, why not a TV in it? Some countries cut VHF and UHF shortwave TV signals in 2012 like US. But in Europe and Asia, it still is an essential thing. Some kind of very cheap Chinese originated mobile phones, gives you a phone with TV with a telescopic antenna. By the way, my Xperia Z box writes on the box "Made in China" too.:silly:
Well never mind, it is a good phone for now. I will have a try from an inflatable sea bed this summer. If I become successful, I will think, worth buying it!:victory:
They can't just pull out tv without any support
Japanese Tablet Z has a tv antenna but nowhere else (afaik), there's no support.
And for the radio it's probably because it's been replaced by internet services like spotify, nobody uses the radio
Does anyone have any idea about arabic support in C6603?

I've find that the audio port is annoying it would be nice from Sony not to cover the port, rather seal it from the inside. So even if water does get in is not goes into the phone. That way we should be able to use it without consequences ... Stupid design, and if you use headset and water (rain) goes in, you lose warranty ... unfortunately..... I working on the repair line.... seen a lots of them. BUT you cannot prove that, and you could say that the cover is not closing properly. So there is a chance that your phone get repaired within sony's warranty. keep that in mind, not all contracted service stations accept that.

About the LTE not working, i guess u should check with your carrier coz i guess you have to apply for it for extra charge per month, or maybe your area doesn't cover LTE.

Hey everybody, occasional lurker turned user through frustration here.
I'm pretty much fed up with T-Mobile's apathy for Z users, and I'm all ready to jump to a C6603 firmware. Based on what I've read, this is pretty much the only option I have here. My only concern is about Mobile Hotspot. Long story short, my family's poor, and my Z is my only access to the internet at home; for school and such, I've had to use Hotspot and connect with my laptop. (Now the internet issue may change soon, but let's assume it won't for the sake of the discussion.) If I were to make the jump to a generic C6603, would I be able to use mobile hotspot in any particular way? I don't care if that's through T-Mobile or a third party service - there's surely a way, I just want to be sure that it works before making the jump.
Thanks in advance for any help you guys can throw my way.
I believe you can. It's the update the
only reason you want to go to a C6603? If you root, then install a recovery manger you can easily flash 4.4.2. That's what I did. Unfortunately the C6606 is not bootloader unlockable.
Edit: my c6606 is running a generic ROM and has hotspot under more just below Xperia connectivity.

I've been using a 6603 ROM almost the entire life of the phone, since T-Mobile USA doesn't provide updates (strange that T-Mobile in other countries are up to date...). No problems. The only thing that doesn't work is WiFi calling, which probably won't be an issue if the Z is your source of internet.
Mobile Hotspot works fine. It is a built in setting on the Z, no need for the T-Mobile app. T-Mobile's network does seem to know you are using it though, and will cut you off at your tethering limit (if you have one). Mine cuts off at 2.5 GB, which is all my plan includes for tethering. My old plan didn't include tethering, and it didn't work at all, even rooted and with various free tethering apps.
Just follow the instructions on this forum to make sure you retain the T-Mobile baseband when you flash the 6603 ROM.

When picking a generic rom, does it matter what country or is there a pure generic rom from Sony that isn't country specific? I see generics for many countries but don't want to flash one if it will install in a different language. Tonight I will make the endeavour to upgrade my phone since T-Mobile won't and just now starting my research on how its done.

I don't think it matters. They all have all languages, I think.
I would gran either commercial or one from your region. Could be subtle differences in the kernel.

T-Mobile US at the moment has decided to not carry the Z3c, but they do have the Z3. WiFi calling is an important feature for me. With the specs, radios, and almost everything, except for the screen and memory, between the Z3 and Z3c being the same, I was wondering if anyone has explored porting the US T-Mobile Z3 ROM to the Z3c? Based on my limited knowledge, I don't think it would be difficult at all. Thoughts?
Cheers,
Mike

Thanks C2, but the T-MO WiFi calling is a bit different. It will transfer a call to/from WiFi and cell coverage. For example, I take a call in the car on the way home from work, and then walk into my house. The WiFi calling will transfer the call from cell to my home WiFi, and not lose connection.
Cheers,
Mike
I second this - would be awesome mainly for reception, VoLTE, etc.

probably not going to happen. you do need the tech for it to work since it tmo uses UMA. also wifi calling doesn't even work like that one guy says. currently, they can't pass the calls from lte to wifi (or vice versa). if you walk out of range it just disconnects and you have to call them again.

My wife just got the Z3C and she is really enjoying what is basicly the only good small Android phone, but her signal in her office is little to none.
Signal boosters are not allowed in her building as they can interfere with WiFi.
I would love to find a way to get T-Mobile's WiFi calling on her phone as it works very well for me on my Note4
Thanks all
Previous models like the Z2 and Z3 Xperia phones had both VoLTE & HD Voice included, even in the international versions. But since the Z5 and even with the upcoming X series phones, these features were removed. Does ANYONE know why Sony did this?? I have a couple ideas, but I'd like to know if anyone knows anything more concrete. Any information would be great!!
Thanks!
Well, some country (mostly Asia/Europe) has VoLTE option on Z5.
On my Japanese docomo's X Performance also has VoLTE option, so maybe some country/customization will have VoLTE option.

Well here in America I found out from T-Mobile's Tech Support Department that I'll still be able to make calls in a 4G LTE-only area even without VoLTE, which is fine. But the problem is Band 12/700 MHz. This is very valuable low-bandwidth spectrum which T-Mobile JUST purchased in my area (Chicago) a week ago. So within the next 6-8 mos this will become available for all customers like myself. Band 12 is very good at penetrating through buildings, unlike the higher spectrums, so that's why people would want it. But I found out that if I buy the X Performance, b/c it doesn't have VoLTE on it, I can ONLY use Band 12 for data while on a call, not for the call itself. Which means I WON'T be able to take advantage of having Band 12, even though the XP has it. They said your phone can only use Band 12 for phone calls if you have VoLTE. The other bandwidths don't require VoLTE but Band 12 does. So I'm NOT happy about this.
I could get an HTC 10 through T-Mobile today, and it would have VoLTE, but the camera on the 10 isn't as good as the XP's, and the XP looks cooler too, plus has front-facing STEREO speakers. So I dunno. I'm really p'd off Pramo because I feel like I have to sacrifice something I really like just to have the XP.

Can't verify it myself as I don't have a Z5 series phone, but according to a list on Wikipedia the Z5 series does have HD Voice: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_smartphones_with_HD_Voice_support#Sony
So, what makes you believe the Z5 or the new X series would not support HD Voice?
Also, the Z5 series reportedly supports VoLTE, depending on carrier of course:

sxtester,
Thank you SO MUCH for sharing these links. It seems that perhaps Sony DID put VoLTE on these phones. But I am in the process of reaching someone at Sony internally (via T-Mobile's "contact" person who works at Sony Mobile) to verify all this. But this is very promising news, and MUCH appreciated!! The MAIN thing is to find out whether or not the Xperia X Performance will have VoLTE or not, and if they have already certified VoLTE with T-Mobile or not? See this link in order to follow up over the next week or two.
Thanks!!
Sony has included VoLTE on the XP, I think the intl, version is the same as the Hong Kong Version, I have personal seen this feature on the retail version of the XP, just a few more days before I get mine.
The ones that had it were carrier specific Z5s there is no universal volte unless sony certified with the carriers for the model

Yes, X Performance uses in-cell touch display.
I can't see patterns and Sony's developer explained they used in-cell to make unified design.
I can also confirm it uses in-cell because there is touch driver for in-cell in kernel source.
HD voice uses 3g signals (H, H+, 3g)
VoLTE uses (obviously) true 4g signals (4g, LTE)
It is up to networks to provide access to the services as they are done on a network level, not handset level

Not bad dude,
It's one of those things where you gonna have to speak to T-mobile.
It MAY depend on the phone having their firmware on, it normally does.. But, guessing not released on their network yet..
Give them a call and see what plans they have for providing the service on their network.

Yeah I was gonna give them a call prob tomorrow about it. My Contacts app is being weird too, and Wi-Fi is acting a lil funny too on my phone. So I decided to just use Xperia Companion to wipe the phone clean and reinstall the software. I'm HOPING that does the trick. I guess I'll find out shortly.
I know they'll prob say they can't do anything about it, but can't hurt to call them. Since I bought the phone unlocked (like I had a choice Sony?! lol) that's not gonna help much, plus it's the int'l version of the XP too. So I dunno. We'll see what they say.

Hi, I have got a X performance today, do you want to make a custome kernel for XP?
I can comfirm that VoLTE is on my unit.
without a VoLTE Usim, the icon does not show, but once a supported Usim is inserted, the VoLTE will show up, and operative.
So, my Xperia SP has been my faithful and unused backup phone for a while now and I was just about to consider selling it for almost nothing (replacing Note 2 with Note 7 and making Note 2 backup), when I thought about using this phone as a 4G hotspot if it supported the required bands. I booted up the SP, it has some CM11 rom flashed and when I checked in CPUZ, the phone identified as C5303. Now C5303 has LTE support- 1800 and 2300 which means it SHOULD be compatible with Reliance Jio 4G, so should I sign up for the Jio SIM card (will use my moms Note 4 to get the sim free) and try it out?
Thanks
Depends on which version of SP you are using. 4G is supported only on C5303 and C5306.
Check gsmarena dot com.

It shows LTE but MyJio app doesn't create any code. So, you can't really get a sim on it. However, temporary spoofing your IMEI might work.
