First of all you have to install TWRP (it is recommended by the Dev.).
Make a clean install of cm11.
Download the proper gapps (for 4.4.4) from devs. website and install them.
Don't forget to clear dalvik cache and cache at the end.
ohh...the gapps i installed was for 4.4.3...

I have the same model with you and the twrp is working very well. To install it do this :
1) Download the twrp recovery and put it on your SD
2) Reboot to cwm recovery
3) Go back to main menu and select install zip from SD card
4) Select Choose zip from internal sd (or if it is on external SD press choose zip from external SD)
5) Click on the twrp recovery zip file and let it do the installation.
6) Choose wipe dalvik & wipe Cache
7) Go back to main menu and press reboot to recovery.
well...its a miracle! everything work...

thank you very much!! i installed twrp through rom manager and this time it worked!
after that i installed cm11 and gappes and its working smoothly!!! hallelujah!!
I was formatting my HTC One to give it to a family member. I was going to sideload or push a rom and flash it, but twrp keeps saying it cant mount /data/ or internal storage. I got to sideload android revolution HD GPE but when it boots its asks for a password to decrypt the storage which i have never done. In twrp it still says it can't mount internal storage or data and I need help getting out of this mess. :/

inside TWRP select wipe and then select format data, this will however completely wipe your phone and you will need to push or sideload a new rom then flash it, try and use TWRP 2.6.3.3, it makes all the difference.

I flashed CWM to see if it worked instead but still said cant mount /data and can't mount /sdcard. I formatted /data and now trying to sideload android revolution again to see if that will work. If not I will try to use TWRP 2.6.3.3. I was using 2.7.1.1 beforehand.
Also the whole reason im here is because I wiped my phone completely with TWRP. Just planned on wiping it all then sideloading a rom to give it that "new phone" sort of feel. No empty random folders and all that. No left over files.

The TWRP 2.7.x.x series all seem to have one or another problem going on with them, most users here swear by 2.6.3.3 or 2.6.3.4, however you will also find that most custom rom's require TWRP recovery over CWM.
also, don't forget to erase the cache after flashing each recovery.
Code:
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
fastboot erase cache
fastboot reboot-bootloader

Ended up reflashing twrp with fastboot and then flashed Android revolution HD71.1 on it. The format of data in CWM worked to fix the mounting problem I had. Twrp probably could have fixed it too if I tried wiping data again. Will remember that next time for the other HTC One I'll be doing this to in the next few days.
I flashed a file that was supposed to disable encryption but it still shows as "encrypted" in Security settings. How can I tell if encryption is actually enabled or not?
If not encrypted you will have option "Encrypt phone" in security settings. After flashing kernel that does not enforce encryption you need to format userdata.
The Resurrection Remix ROM I'm using gave a zip to flash that was supposed to disable encryption but all I did after flashing the ROM, Gapps, and then that file was wipe the cache and then the dalvik cache. What is formatting the userdata?

flashing a file wont decrypt you. you have to decrpt yourself after flashing that file or a kernel that allows decrypting. you have to format your user data/storage, this will delete everything in your storage. only then will you be decrypted after booting up.

Connect device to a PC and use command "fastboot format userdata". This will wipe all your private stuff so backup before proceeding.
Can I do that through my TWRP recovery?

You can. It is in Wipe>Format Data section. You will have to type "yes" to confirm.
Is that all I need to do to decrypt now? Just wipe the user/data? Can I install a new kernel and not have to wipe everything?

not wipe. format. they are two differing things. and yes, as long as it allows decryption.
That worked surprisingly well. Since I've already lost all of my data, what can I wipe in order to do a full clean install of my rom? TWRP gives me the option to wipe Dalvik Cache, System, Data, Internal Storage, and Cache. Your help is greatly appreciated.

to get a full real wipe.. you should wipe system and data, then reflash your rom. because when you wipe system, you wipe your rom off your phone.

Before you do that make sure that you can connect your device to PC in bootloader mode and in recovery mode (TWRP). If you wipe everything you will cut the branch you are sitting on.
Witek_M, you beat me to it. Thank you.

to be safe, ok. thats a great idea for newer folk.
but ill be honest, there are a few differing ways to get a rom onto your device from twrp. but you should downliad the rom beforehand, it wont get deleted. anyways, now you can use adb to transfer files, two differing ways. and you can just simply transfer a rom to your phone using twrp, not adb, as well.
What commands do I need to use to push the rom onto the phone?

if anything, i use adb push. but twrp has an option now to tranfer roms over to your phone as well, without using adb.
So if I put the rom's zip, gapps, etc on the phone's storage and wipe system, the rom zip file and twrp will still be usable on the phone after that?

yes. wiping system will get rid of the rom, wiping data will get rid of all your apps and data, but none of them will wipe your storage. thats in advanced wipe settings.
There have been several threads about this in the past, but I couldn't find one which is actually up-to-date.
I have been flashing my N7000 for years now. I've been using several custom recovery menu's and ROMS and re-partitioned my internal storage as suggested here. I currently have the following installed on my phone:
NightOwl 20151030
PhilZ Touch 6.59.0
ClockworkMod v6.0.5.1 (as shown in PhilZ)
What I would like to do is perform a full, 100% wipe of my phone before re-flashing the same ROM I currently have installed, perhaps even update my recovery or whatnot in case my phone would benefit from it (suggestions are welcome).
The original instructions from the NightOwl thread mention the following when you want to manually update:
1. Copy Rom to your sdcard.
2. Boot into recovery
3. Flash the Rom (in current versions you dont need to reflash the gapps)
4. Wipe dalvik-cache and format the /cache partition (This will not delete your apps or data)
5. Reboot

As mentioned these steps will not remove your apps or data. I understand that a "factory reset" does. However, I still wonder if this (including a factory reset) will actually wipe my phone 100% clean before flashing a new ROM.
That would be the following options in recovery
Factory reset to wipe data and cache
Format system
And if you want to wipe internal memory then format sdcard0.
Be careful of where you have the zip file of rom to flash again.
In CWM, go to "Mounts and Storage" section and there you'll find options to wipe totally everything.
There is an akward situation, whenever i try to go into TWRP for flash any zip aur img file , TWRP does not show any such file. It is 100% sure that i transfer the flasheable zip file to the mido. But TWRP does not show. It shows 0mb internal storage. And i tried to wipe delvik cashe data system but it gives a message and error in red color that data not mount.
So for this i just formate the phone by twrp... It get easly formate by typing YES and delete all the internal storage, after that i can wipe all the stuff under advanced wipe by selecting all the options system data delvik cashe.... Etc.
After doing this i just power off the phone by twrp, and again boot the phone into twrp recovery by pressing volume up+ power button
And then twrp shows 52 gb aprx internal , so i transfer the custom rom zip file and gapps zip to the phone using computer.
After that i had flash the rom and reboot the phone into system..
The phone get started and work awsome.
Now after an hour latter , i had again reboot the device to recovery ... To flash magisk manager ... Guys i am shoked the internal storage shows 0 mb instead of actual memory.
Again does not shows any zip file, img file.
So i have to follow all the steps that i performed before formate the phone and reboot to recovery then transfer magisk and then flash it.
The problem is why twrp again and again shows 0mb error ...
So i also flash the miui using fastboot method (clear all) clean flash, then flash the twrp after that flash the custom rom.
After flashing rom , Now again reboot to recovery it shows 0 mb internal and data unable to mount.
Twrp fix temporary not permanent.
Please tell me if you find any solution for this for permanant fix twrp 0 mb error....

Hi! actually i had similar issue after restoring all partitions (not just boot data and system, but all the 10 or more partitons) on my redmi 4x. i couldnt mount the data partition it got corrupted somehow. I couldnt format it in twrp too. Reflashing everything in my flash solved the problem, just dont forget to NOT choose the option with RELOCK, or you will lock the bootloader.
