I love my note 5 too much but i am tried of low battery performace even with 180 debolated apps including touchwiz
And i know the best way to get bettery life is lower resolution.
I am on stock rom and i dont want to use note 7 roms with unsteable usage even these roms have resolution changing feature.
Is there any way to change resolution (NOT DPI) with stock rom rooted or non-rooted. 1080p or 720p
Some people talk about it can changeable with ADB but i have never used it
Can anyone help me about this prob. And is there any good site or title on xda tells how to change resolution step by step with ADB or anything else.

It's possible with ADB (with or without root) but causes FC and crashes in System UI and many stock apps.
Try Naptime for rooted Note5 and enable doze immediately after screen off.. This saved me a lot of battery even with Wifi, Data and GPS always on.
More importantly, turn off the battery percentage. Believe it or not, it was making me paranoid about battery life ad without it on the status-bar, my life is much easier now.

Hi guys,
I want to ask some questions relating to ICS roms. I'm sorry if they were asked somewhere else but searching everywhere and I couldn't find the answers I need.
1. Lock screen wallpaper: Is lock screen wallpaper in ICS roms downgrade in term of quality? I found them very blurry and bad comparing to GB
2. Vibration + sound: I saw MIDNOTE had an addon to fix this problem, with Sound toogle but after changing to Sound Vibration, I still did not get vibration working with notification for SMS.
3. LCD Density: any apps compatible with ICS to change the density out there? without editing the build.prop?
4. Battery: with all the ICS roms out there atm, how are their battery life comparing to GB roms?
Anyone know the answers?
Thanks a lot for reading and answering. Really appreciate that

1. I changed lockscreen successfully on all the current ICS releases (yes, I gave all of them a go before settling for imilka's AOSP) from Google gallery without any noticeable quality degradation.
2. can't help with that, because I never use vibration, so I've never expored it
3. don't be afraid of editing build.prop. It's a piece of cake using Rom Toolbox. Just backup your original build.prop and give it a go.
All other LCD changers are fairly unreliable (bootloops and such).
4. my battery life was pretty good with all of them, especially with AOSP. I managed to squeeze out 5+ hours of screentime yesterday (no gaming though). I think it's safe to say that battery life equals or even exceeds the GB one.
Hope this helps.
Thanks a lot for your answer
1. I did that too, but the pic look very bad. Really dont know why
3. Thanks a lot. Gave it a try and successful in changing to 240 dpi
4. I will test it further. Glad to hear that

Very useful for gamers who just want to turn brightness up, check notification and things like that.
Thanks for linking to the app, i definitely think this is something google should have built into android. I was looking for something like this a few weeks ago, too, and here it is.
However, i think it belongs in the Themes and Apps section, development is based around ROMs and Kernel modifications, though if a feature like this could be built into custom ROMs it would be priceless.
I agree. This should be a standard feature for Android, well, as for now this app does the job
Wow, really useful app I've come across in awhile. It was always a pain to switch back into the homescreen.
My only concern is that it takes up 12 MB of RAM. I think it could be more optimized? Well everything has a price.
I'm assuming this would constantly have to run in the background. Wouldn't that deplete battery life? ICS's battery life isn't amazing as is so I am not sure I want to make it worse...
FYI, there is a built-in option in MIUI to enable this feature
it uses too much ram 10mbs for this small app is a bit much.
Sent from my Nexus S using xda premium
6.7mb here. Doesn't use any extra battery. No complaints here.
Did not notice any decrease in performance of my phone, nothing noticeable anyway. Supercharge your phone to compensate if you want.

I doubt this consumes extra battery life; if so, it's negligent. RAM used does not consume more power; only CPU cycles do.
Besides, if this app was programmed well. It would only be active if it notices that the foreground app was in fullscreen mode.
Very usfull for me,thanks to the creator
This is my app. It doesn't do polling from system to get full screen change. It is triggered when there is size change in window. So it doesn't do anything until it is called by system for adjusting its size.
This feature definitely does need to be implemented stock. It's a wonder that it hasn't already really.
Thanks!
So, since the Samsung Galaxy Note has an almost ludicrously large sized screen at 5.3 inches diagonally in size, it is only natural that I want to make the most of this high-resolution screen. From what I have presently read, changing the DPI seems to be the way to fit more items onto my screen, but how will this effect general usage of the device? Firstly, will it ruin any particular apps that come pre-installed on the phone such as the S-Memo, S-Note or S-Planner apps and do the Contacts, Phone, plus Messaging applications for actual phone usage all work regardless of DPI? Also, if I were to change to a lower DPI, would this allow me to access a tablet mode within either Touchwiz or any different launchers? Unfortunately, I have yet to root my device for fear of screwing it up, as this is my first true Android device (minus an old second-hand HTC Desire which had no storage and didn't perform too well) and I am only 14 so far from the most experienced with technology. So, what would rooting involve? I am running a stock Samsung ICS ROM, which is affected by the brick bug, and should hopefully receive my Sandisk UHS-1 Micro-SD soon with a lovely 32GB of storage should rooting require external storage.
EDIT 1: I read somewhere that setting the DPI to 213 brings out a full tablet mode, whilst keeping everything readable. Is this true and, if not, what DPI settings do people recommend that still keep the screen readable but with the most information possible on it?

Hi there , you can change the Display Pixel Intensity(DPI) with many apps , you can find them on play store . DPI changer is one such app. Now coming to the other half of your querry. reducing your DPI to 213 or lower makes things look pretty small on your phone , its readable only if you have sharp eyes . And if you are on rooted stock ics or gingerbread rom or any rom which is based on stock rom from samsung then it wont change your phone UI( User Interface ) to tablet mode .
Cheer up, there are few roms with which you can change the UI to tablet mode by reducing the DPI , to be particular AOKP rom . You will get one in the development section . If you dont want all such complication , download Paranoid android latest version and quench your thirst . With a single tick of check box you can switch between phone and tablet yi
Well, thanks.
DPI can also be considered as Dots Per Inch Stock . DPI for galaxy note is 320 , lower the dpi, smaller the icons and text , tablets generally have DPI somewhere around 172 to 190 or even upto 200+, but it depends on the screen size and the display resolution too . Well if you think 320 is too much for you and if you cant take it , then reduce it to 285 which is the actual (Physical) DPI of the screen on your phone .
Here is how you calculate DPI of your screen :
The resolution of Galaxy note is 1280 *800. i.e there are 1280 pixels from top to bottom of your screen and 800 pixels from left to right
Screen diagonal length = 5.3 inch
DPI = [sqrt of ( sq of(1280) + sq of (800) ) ] / 5.3
= 285 (approximately)
Hope you can understand all this and figure out yourself what is best suited for your screen
Does anyone use the Trickster Mod app on stock kernel? I have the donate version and i take advantage of the charging LED light. If so what, if any tweaks did you try? I also use the multi core power save tweak set a 2. For anyone that may know, would using titanium backup to convert Trickster Mod to a system app have any advantages?
Doubtful. AFAIK Trickster mod just makes the changes at startup, it doesn't need to run all the time.
BTW I have both enabled, the multi core power saver and mp-decision.
Cool to know it works with the stock kernel. Is there a noticable difference in performance and does it give you better battery life?

It's tough for me to say if it gives better battery life due to a lot of changes in settings, e.g. greenify, app permissions etc working in connection. I will say it doesn't hurt. When my phone is asleep I lose about 1 to 1.5 percent per hour which is okay with me. Performance is fine for my needs. Plus I like the LED feature to know when my phone is charge by the status of the green light without having to psychically unlock the MX and check. But to say how much of a difference is hard to tell without setting everything else back to default and just using Trickster.
Hi guys,
I used to use this method with mostly all of my devices in the past: LG G3, Galaxy S5, Amazon Kindle Fire tablets (including 8'' and 10''). All of them work just fine. But not this Pixel5!
Using the "adb shell wm size" command. I changes the screen resolution of my devices down a notch, for example from 1440p to 1080p, or 1080p to 800p and so on. Then I adjust the density accordingly. They all turn out the Ok-ish screen resolution and have a much better GPU performance for gaming.
My current S10 has the native changing resolution from Samsung, So I don't use it for my S10.
But with the Pixel 5, there is a problem. The camera cut - out on the screen become so weird and placed on the off center position, and the Pixel 5 is unusable
I really love to use my pixel 5 at 720p or 900p, and I believe the Adreno 620 (snapdragon 765G) on the Pixel 5 will handle game at the lower resolution much much better.
Does anyone have a fix for this? please help!
Thank you for your reading!
P.S: OMG, this was my bad for posting the thread into the wrong sub-forum. It was on the other tab of my web-browser. Thank you very much for moving it to the right place, Moderator!!
Why are you not changing the resolution in the settings like you do on the Samsung? A quick search suggest the Pixel 5 has such an option. You're best doing it the official way to guarantee everything will work correctly.
Because you're changing the resolution and DPI through what is basically a developer option, I think whatever is handling the camera cutout (An app? The WM? Android?) is not updating its position and that causes it to be misplaced. Therefore, I dont think you find a simple fix for this. Sorry.

You must be mistaken the Pixel 5 with other phones, since we don't have the option for such a changing the resolution in the settings.
If you mean the display size? It's just a density change, not the resolution.
Thank you for your contribution anyway!
Hi, have you sovled the problem? I encountered a similar condition.
