Hi,
I want to root my SM-920A for it to access VOLTE network ( international - not AT&T). Right now inspite of my provider provides this facility, I see AT&T is blocking it.
After little research, I learned I have to root the device and enable voLTE. Please help with below.
1. Is rooting only option for my unlocked phone to be able to access VOLTE outside AT&T network?
2. If rooting is required to be done, what is the suggested way of doing it? any video links will be appreciated for the first timer
TIA
I dont think there is any current way to root this ATT phone under android 6.x. Frustrating

I'm new to CDMA tech, I used to be a GSM guy. so this is all new to me. From my understanding PRL is some sort of file that allows you to use specific towers or something, and My intention is to use Verizon towers on my sprint phone as they have great coverage at my location. I did some researching about PRL in this forum and I'v come to the conclusion it is impossible to use a Verizon PRL on a sprint HTC one unless it is rooted. If that is the case I wish to know the answers to the following.
1.Is it possible to use verizon prl on the Sprint htc one without root? "although I know what your answer might be "
2.If root is required. What do you think is the most noob friendly guide to rooting my Sprint Htc One
3.Would I be able to unroot my device once I root it? in case of future sales?
any link you provide me would be great! I'd really appreciate your help and I'll continue to scout the form for more information. I honestly prefer noob guides to rooting such as one click methods to rooting and what not. But if there is no such thing for the Sprint htc one I completely accept that and will be willing to work with whatever guide you think is friendly to new CDMA users.
Cdma is nothing like GSM. You can't use a sprint phone on Verizon or vice versa because the carriers have to register your phone ESN to allow it on its network. Neither carrier will do that. A Cdma phone is locked to the network it is sold on, and its mvno partners like Ting which uses Sprint's network.

all you need to do is unlock it via htcdev, and flash a custom recovery via 'fastboot flash some-recovery.img' - then flash a superuser zip (though the custom recoveries seem to include this function now)

Yes, you'll only be able to completely restore it if you are s-off (remove tampered flag, etc.)
---
Notes:
- I'm sure you know this (since you signed a contract that says this), but roaming above 300Mb/month gives sprint the right to terminate your contract at any time without notice
- You'll be able to get more information in the sprint forums
- There's plenty of documentation on root, s-off, changing PRL, restoring to stock throughout the forums.
I have a Samsung Galaxy Note 3. I used to have AT&T as a carrier for the phone, now I do not have a carrier. I want to unlock my phone and preferably not pay for it I tried the method outlined at android and me and several other site, ( it involves using the number *#197328640#)
I was unable to use this method because I could not find a UMTS menu.
The only other way I found to unlock the phone was to root it. I wanted to use Odin and CF Auto Root to do but I could not find a version for my device, (Samsung-SM-N900A).
Do you guys have any suggestions for me?
Sir,
Please wait until mods will move this thread to the device specific forum.

Im in the same place need to Root At&t galaxy note 3 5.0 N900a where can I find the files
You can only network unlock the phone with a code.
As far as I know, all of the note series is carrier unlocked. if it's not, you have to call your respective carrier and ask them to unlock it. Rooting your phone is another story. I just got off live chat with Samsung and they can't remove the bootloader lock on my OC2 N900a. This will prevent me from buying any other samsung product in the future, not even considering the note 7 b.s.
The n900a is an at&t phone and pretty much every at&t phone is carrier and bootloader locked. Same goes for sprint and Verizon.
Didn't realize oc2 also had the n900a as I thought the U.K. And Europe had the n9005.
Most of the note phones sold by a carrier are network locked.
Made the wrong move w/out enough research and picked up a Note4 910v for my Verizon unlimited data plan account, only to find the dreaded, NOT on Verizon when it comes to rooting due to locked bootloader and Lollipop 5.0.1
So after reading much on Nexus 6 ( by Motorola) supposedly being released into the world as either only International XT1100 or US models XT1103 and all having the ability to unlock bootloader, and achieve root... can anyone who is on Verizon or has verified ANY U.S. model 1103 can 1) be put onto a Verizon existing account, 2) unlock the bootloader, and 3) achieve root access? Does it have to originally be from a Verizon account, or will ALL Nexus 6 with their Global capability be able to be added/activated in Verizon w/ root enabled no matter their prior Carrier use?
Anything to know regarding order of sequence or other gotchyas would be appreciated.
Much thanks to the power of the forum!
Yes the xt1103 can be put on the Verizon network with unlocked bootloader and root. I purchased mine from Amazon and after visiting a local Verizon store they installed a nano sim then activated it with no issues. Use the following toolkit to unlock, root and install custom recovery: h t t p://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-6/development/toolkit-wugs-nexus-root-toolkit-v1-9-8-t2947452 .
Absolutely do NOT use a toolkit! Not until you've learned to unlock the bootloader and root using ADB and Fastboot commands. Recommending a toolkit is bad advice, because if a problem occurs in using the toolkit, you'll have no way of knowing what happened and how to fix it.

1100 will not work on cdma
1103 will work on any carrier
Hi. I am new on this forum and don't know much about rooting and the requirements of such high complex stuff. But I have an ATT unlocked phone which I use on t mobile. It's lacks WiFi calling, whxih I want, and the signal is probably 1 bar lower than it should. Not to mention I can't update my software since ATT servers for the update won't communicate with my phone since I'm no longer and ATT customer and they are generally very slow with their updates
Anyway is it possible to put a international ROM, say the new marshmallow ROM, or even a T-Mobile ROM on my phone? How would one do that? I am aware of odin as I use it to update my software from time to time. Do I just get the international or T-Mobile ROM and flash it?
Thanks.
No way , at&t have a locked bootloader, ):
international..any day..dont even think abt it
Been trying to do this forever. Still no luck.
Anyway to unlock the bootloader? Would my best bet to sell the phone and just get the unlocked one?
AT&T no way , yes get the 925f
Hi fam,
Recently purchased a Tab S8+ 5G from Verizon. I love the device, but I absolutely HATE Verizon's Message+ app. I would love to be able to use Samsung's Calls and Texts on Other Devices feature with it, but Verizon blocks it in favor of their homegrown monstrosity.
So my question to you guys is: is there any way that I'd be able to flash a different firmware on it? One that gets rid of the VZW bloatware and reactivates the useful Samsung features? TIA
Hey, I'm not sure how it works, but my understanding is that some carriers in US(like verzion) block the ability to unlock bootloader, and add their bloatware to the device.
If you're able to do the first step of the root guide (unlock bootloader) then you should be able to flash another firmware or just remove the bloatware with root.
Some people probably have better knowledge on this than me.
Keep in mind unlocking bootloader would affect KNOX and trigger KNOX so it becomes permanent unavailable and re-locking bootloader won't bring KNOX back. Which means apps that needs KNOX won't function anymore.
You may be able to re-flash your device with odin to new region firmware. So then you don't have to touch bootloader unlock. Since I'm quite sure I have seen users here being able to flash another region firmware to their devices with odin so their bootloader is un-touched.

Normally re-flashing stock firmware won't need you to unlock the bootloader.
So when selecting firmware online to download it gives me the option for the following CSCs for my model (SM-X808U):
VZW
TMB
TMK
USC
While I get that they are all carrier specific and will come with their own bloatware, which is the lesser of the evils? Which will allow me to activate the "Calls and Texts on Other Devices" feature?
TIA
