Here's what I'm trying to do:
Have an always-visible icon on my Android Wear watch which will skip to the next track if Google Play Music is currently playing or skip forward 10 seconds it Pocket Casts is playing.
I'm all set with the icon using AutoWear and I have profiles for NextTrack and SkipForward (using PocketCast intents). It works fine if I'm playing music - it skips to the next track. However if I'm playing a podcast (Pocket Cast) it stops playback and starts playing music through Play Music.
I can't figure out how to differentiate between which app (Play Music vs Pocket Cast) is currently in control. Now, the wheel controls in my car do this exactly - if I press up while playing a song it goes to the next song, but if I'm playing a podcast it shuffles forward 30 seconds.
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance!

I was surprised that rather than attenuating music playback the One pauses music when Waze or Google Navy is announcing an upcoming turn.

Not sure on that one, it might be app specific. For instance, last time I was listening to Pandora and navigating, the phone simply turned down the volume on the music while the navigator was talking. In the HTC Music app, it muted the music but it kept playing(annoying, since I was listening to an audio book...) and in Google Play Music, it would pause it.
unremarked is correct. I use PowerAmp and theres an option to pause the music or play the notification along with the music and thats what i use. I prefer the way iOS handles it though. The music goes lower while the notification sound plays. But i haven't found a way to make it work that way.

So this morning I got into the car and continued to stream music to my device via Google Music. I needed to make an unplanned detour so I fired up Waze to calculate a quick route avoiding traffic. Much to my delight the music I was streaming attenuated when Waze spoke, just like it used to do on my iPhone. I was so jazzed and my kids were probably wondering why. So at the next light I switched to the HTC player and no dice. Same behavior as before, muting/pausing music whenever Waze spoke directions. Finally I decided to try Pandora (which I haven't been able to stream to my car in the week I've had the One) and not only did Pandora play through the car speakers, it too attenuated when Waze spoke. I haven't tried this with Google Nav.
So what's changed since yesterday? Well I booted into Safe Mode (per HTC rep's suggestion) to troubleshoot a bluetooth volume issue and that didn't do anything other than remove some of my folders on one of my home panels. That bluetooth volume issue is a separate issue and it was not resolved through Safe Booting the device. Also, it appears there was an update to Google Music so that may have resolved the music pausing issue. Either way, I'm not sure what I did or what happened to the device to fix this behavior but I'm very happy to experience this expected behavior between music (except for the HTC native player) and nav.
I can't seem to figure out how to control music playing on my phone from my watch (using Google Music phone app). Is something supposed to pop up when I play music on my phone? I don't see an "app" on the watch that controls this. Note that I'm using a Note 3.
What am I missing?

You get card of current song and if u swipe to left u can advance and swipe to right one more time to stop I believe.

Actually I figured this out. You have to start the playback on the phone first. Then you get a notification that let's you pause / play, Swipe to the left and you next and once more to the left you get previous, but that is the extent of the stock music control. This worked with EVERY music player I have, not just Google stock Music player.
You can also control volume if you get the Wear Volume app - it appears as an additional notification card under the main music notification. And here is also something that is WAY cool - if you download musiXmatch app, you can scroll down and choose to display scrolling LYRICS to the current song!! I can't get BOTH volume AND lyrics to work at the same time however. Note the Volume works with any music app you choose in it's settings. However, musiXmatch only works with Google Play Music player.
There are also some voice controls to start playback. Such as OK Google, play me some music (that will start an "I'm feeling lucky" shuffle). OK Google, Play Some *artist name* . there are some others, but I use those two often.
Not sure if it matters, but this is on an HTC One M7, stock 4.4.2 Sense 6, Google Play Music.
I've just finished developing my Wear Music Controller app to solve this problem for me:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.barkside.music
You can play/pause/next/prev/stop/vol-up/vol-down from your watch! Works with all music apps. Let me know what you think!
Hi,
I have set google play music as my default music player. But when I plug in headphones and hit the button on the remote control the huawei music player starts. Also when I start playing with google player manually, first time I want to pause or skip via remote control the huawei player jumps in. When I then close the huawei player, everything works fine. Is there any fix for that?
Also sometimes when pressing play on the player I don't hear sound as somehow the media volume got muted (without me doing that). Does anyone else have this issue? I'm on EVA-L09C432B170. But had this issues already for some time...
thanks
Tasker in the car, stop and start "music" from different "music" apps
I know the topic might be strange, but I didn't know what to name this thread.
I got a car with bluetooth, and when my phone is connected I want a lot of stuff to happen.
First, I want it to start playing on Spotify (and maybe start some "car app/launcher"). I've been experimenting a lot, and basically have task that Launches Spotify, light the screen up (otherwise I'm having problem with Spotify not starts on play command), and with Media Control Simulates Play. I also have some well timed wait's.
I also have another task that runs when I got a message, that will read the message for me. Since Spotify not will let the TTS spoken message to be heard for some reason, when using the same "media channel" to play the TTS, I also here got some well timed wait's and lowering in volume, and later a pause of the music, before a temp max rise of the media volume and the message being read. After the TTS voice is finished reading the message on the highest volume the volume is set as I want and a Play with "Media Control Simulates Play" runs.
NOW for my questions.
Sometimes I stops my Spotify for listen to a audio book or some podcasts or something else. I would like my task that stops Spotify (or at least let me here the message) and read the message also to work if I at that moment listens to a podcast.
The stop function isn't a problem for me on some apps (they that silens by default when the TTS voice starts), but for apps that needs the sound to first be stopped are problem for me.
I would like some help to have Tasker stop and start the stream for that app that was playing when the message arrived.
If I'm listen to Spotify my task works, but if I listen to podcast, it stops when the TTS speaks, but after, it will start Spotify since my task runs "Media Control Simulates Play" for Spotify.
I would like that Media Control Play (and stop) to be for that app that at the moment was using the media stream channel on the phone.
Is that something that is possible?

Hi all,
I mostly listen to music with Android Auto via Spotify, but lately Amazon Music has been pushing its way in. For example, while I'm playing a song from Spotify, it suddenly stops playing it, and when I look at it, Amazon music is active instead of spotify. How can I prevent this? Thanks,
jennix
you could try switchining, use musconv if you do, I used it yesterday to move from spotify to amazon music so I guess it should work the other way around
