Cannot boot unit witch card in GPS slot - MTCB Android Head Units General

Hello all, I have problem with booting my unit with microsd in GPS slot. I tried to change microsd card, format it, I tried to change ROM - with android 4.4.4 and android 5.1 . But still the same. I tried wipe data in recovery and still the same.
Could anybody help me please?
Regards,
Jiri

I tried to change a few ROMS and still the same.... if is slot called "GPS card" empty, I can turn on, reboot, all is working fine, but if is slot with card, I cannot turn on radio - back camera is not working too, so I think radio is off, I cannot restart... only remove it and start without microsd card.
Regards,
Jiri

Is it an empty card? Have you tried different cards?

Yes, different cards, formated, full or empty, I tried to format them in android radio too and still the same. Of course I can read and write on these cards without problem...but is necessary before starting unit or restart unit to remove for a while card, after display is on, I can insert card into slot......

Same problem here. I receive this message if I remove SD then boot. "E: cant mount /mnt/external_sd".
If I have an SD card in then try to boot I get simply a black screen. If I boot with it out, all normal. However the unit forgets radio presets and Bluetooth device that was last connected. Once the unit is booted I can insert SD card and mount it no problem.
Also if I re-flash to kitkat 4.4.4 I can not boot with SD card in though my radio presents and Bluetooth device are saved.
Problem started after an attempt to flash fusion 5.1.1 with a modified parameter file ( to change ram from 1gb to 2gb ). Came across this on a thread and realize now that it was not compatible.
Its like the Unit is looking to boot from SD on start up. Is there a way to change that??

Yes, I have fixed it... very importat is check the mircosd card , not in Windows, but via for example partion magic...she looked like botable, so I removed it in pqmagic , create new partion, primary, inserted it into radio and radio started without problem..... so my problem was that I tried to format microsd card in Windows only.

Can you tell us what you did to get it to work

He cleaned all partitions off the sdcard and reformatted. Appears he may have had a partition which the HU saw as bootable. These devices will try to boot from the SDcard if a bootable card is found.

SD Card Damaged, G1 won't boot.

Title says it all. I unmounted as I should have before turning off USB storage, but when I unplugged the USB cable, it said I have a damaged SD card and that I may need to format it. I hit the OK to format and nothing happened. I tried rebooting and nothing happens. I'm rooted with CM 3.9.7 mod, A2SD, etc. I've tried flashing the recovery, etc, but it can't mount the SD card and so fails. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

do you have a card reader for your computer?
No card reader for my computer.
do you have another phone or device that you can put your sd card in and connect to your computer
yeah, a Dash.
I've run into this problem before. Rebooting the phone. without selecting the format usually fixes it. I think it just happens when the SD card fails to unmount properly.
If you have an update.zip on the SD Card..try applying it through the recovery menu. If it says it fails to mount the SD Card over and over, then your SD Card probably is actually damaged.

Is there any way to fix the card? Like I said, I've got an HTC Dash running WM6 that I can put the card into and connect to the computer. Is there anything to be done?
try to format it from the dash through computer, but im not familiar with dashes
I think I may have figured it out a bit.
The Dash wouldn't recognize the 8GB SDHC, but I fortunately still had the original 1GB, which it did recognize. I was able to transfer the CM 3.9.7 onto it and boot in recovery mode and reload the update.zip file. I'm currently booting up and once that's done, I'll do what is necessary to put my 8GB card in, format it and then try to make everything work again. Suggestions?
you want to use the 3.97? that rom is still experimental. maybe you should use the 3.6.8.1 rom

I usually keep a back up of everything just in case.
Also, for your usb card reader problems...

My plan succeeded! I'm now waiting for the Market to let me download my apps again. It let me download a couple, but stopped for some reason. It's happened before, so I'm not too worried. If I should be, let me know. Thanks.
ok sounds good
For some reason, Google Talk was disabled. I enabled it and voila, everything's all good!

Insert the card, ignore any messages and reboot the phone.
Once the phone comes back up, go to Settings > Storage and see if you can Mount the external SD card.
That worked for me when I got similar messages after swapping cards.
That didn`t work out. I get the same notification.Other ideas ?
I just made hard reset ... still the same problem
btw I noticed something weird in PC/Sync Setting / Default connection type there are two options *Charge only or *Mount SD card??!!! what does this means
What partition is your sdcard after you format it? It still fat32?
Hmm... if it still maybe that is MIUI bug
hm yes it is Fat32 but other strange thing I just saw from the card reader - there is a LOST.DIR folder created with nothing inside ...what does it mean ?

The LOST.DIR directory is normal, it is where corrupted files get dumped. If the Directory is empty that is just fine.
Have you tried inserting a different MicroSD card?
I`m going to try one later today .
====
mmm No that doesn`t work either.
I`m suppose downgrade to original firmware should do the trick === I hope so
JOB DONE pheu downgraded to 2.2.1 froyo the job went smoothly .I assume it is not a hardware fault just the MIUI is having this kind of a bug .
Thanks for you all that tried to help

Trying to boot from SD I ran the win32 utility and it made my 8gb card 100mb?

I followed this guide, not only did it not work, but when I used the windows32 utility to install the sd card as a boot device it made my sd card only have 117 mbs capacity. can I do anything to get it back? I have modded several Wiis, a PS2, and a couple PSPs all were easy, the nook color is the one that has caused me problems.

Which guide? (I don't see a link)
If you are using verygreen's size-agnostic SD install image from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1000957
- You will only see the first partition if you are using a Windows PC. Verygreen's SD install image will show only 115ish MB for that partition. It actually expands to fill the rest of the SD card as blank storage, but you can only see that using a) special software like Easeus Partition Manager b) *while in stock or CM7* hooking up your Nook to your PC in USB storage mode.
- That first (boot) partition is large enough to hold the CM7 install zip + the gapps zip file, which are the two things you need to complete CM7 installation on the SD card.
Please update if you are using a different image or method than what I've written above
Thanks Angomy, yeah I was using the one you are talking about. OK, so I guess that went well. I cant post links since I am new
After I installed I put the other two files on the root of my sd card and put it in my nook color, it did the andriod installer and installed and turned off. When I turned it back on, it just went to the original barnes and noble firmware. I don't know why it didn't load andriod.
Edit: here is the guide I used from kylebenson .com
edit 2: So I connected my nook with the sd card to my PC and I see boot (E) with 117 MB and mynookcolor (F) with 1 GB of storage. I used an 8 GB card and my nook color is also 8 GB anyone know what happened?
Download EaseUs Partition Manager (free) and use it to stretch out the partition to recover the unformatted space.
so I downloaded Easus Partition Master Home Edition and I am not still not seeing my sd card. I see my internal hard drive with both of the partitions, but not the sc card. I also wanted to add I had a very hard time getting the win32 to work initially, at first it kept saying not enough space, so I downloaded another version winima85 and I
opened as administrator
Selected Disk from the menu
selected “Restore Virtual Hard Disk Image…”.
Selected SDCard from the list and clicked OK.
In the Open dialog box selected “All Files” in the lower right file type box,
browse to gerneric-sdcard-v1.3.img, and clicked write
Also wanted to point out that, I am using a micro to sd card adapter and loading through my computers sd card reader not through the usb
I downloaded Paragon Partition Manager and I can see the sd card, should I choose to delete the partitions or resize? I figure it would be best to start over
So I decided to go ahead and delete those other partitions and now my card is unreadable . It can be seen using paragon and it shows two partitions, one that has linux on it and the other that has nothing on it. When I ran paragon it was saying something about if you are using linux you will need to reinit. Don't know what this meant any suggestions?

There have been several reports that this can lead to problems. Much better to use a real USB card adapter and start again. If you use the evergreen method then after the first image is written then it is 100 MB but after it is booted on the Nook then it will create other partitions using up all the space available on the card.
If you ever plug it back in then you will see just the first 100MB partition but if you USB connect the Nook then it will see the big media partition left over for user storage.
For OP, using either USEASE or MiniTool to reclaim all 8GB of your uSD card then redo the whole thing.
For others, why on earth you guys suggested him/her to resize the partition in first place. It is absolutely NO NEED to.

I did not suggest resizing the partitions, so please watch who you're painting with your brush. From what he said about seeing only a ~100MB partition, it sounded like he was only able to see the boot partition, so I suggested Easeus as a means to *set the visible partition in Windows*.
Also, using a built-in card reader has for many people caused issues with the SD image burn to card. It's been documented several times here and if the OP continues to have problems he should try a USB reader instead. Someone I recently spoke to in verygreen's thread solved his booting issues with the SD image by switching to a USB card reader. I myself have never had a successful burn via built-in card reader on my laptop -- it seems to burn fine but there's oddities in size, problems reading, etc etc.
As with all things YMMV. And, RTFM.
do a search on the web for a app called sdformater. this will restore your sccard back to 8gb. rewrite the image back to the card. copy the android image (do not put g-apps in at this time) to the sd card, put in card nook color and turn it on. it should create the other partisions that are needed, expand the android os and shut off. reboot the nook, and it should boot into android. if it dose not boot or boots with errors get a new card or try a usb card reader, (sandisk-class 4 cards are the only ones that have worked for me to use), if it boots in ok setup wifi, shut down and put the card back into the pc and now copy g-apps to the card and boot into recovery by holding down the N key while turning on the nook, I watch for the sceen flash and then release the power buton but keep holding down the n key until you see loading menu. using the n key and the volume buttons to select boot sd (top line) and recovery (second line) and then boot. it should now install g-apps and shut down. restart the nook and complete the setup.
yes, finally got it to work! I think having gapps on their before is what cause the problem. I installed cm7 instead of nightly, but may change depending if nightly adds more. Thanks everyone

I dunno - most of my Nook hacks have been done off a ThinkPad running Ubuntu... Once you get the hang of the command-line commands, it's not that hard - and gparted actually is decently easy to use.

[Q] Sony Xperia X8 Not recognizing SD CARD

hello, i've just installed that rom to my x8 too,(this one:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1836116) im just wondering if u know how to fix my problem... ( after i install it successfully, my x8 does not recognize my sd card anymore.. it says in notification bar. "Safe to remove SD Card" but i didn't unmount it, i try everything like insert and reinsert the card, turning on the phone w/o the card then turrning on again w/ card, nothing happens... plsss... if you know something help me pls.
Rom has problem.. you should Try to install other Rom
If i helped you hit thanks button
Sent from my X8 using xda app-developers app
There will be better roms out there. Jellybean isnt ported to our X8 fully so I would say not to install Jellybean roms even ICS roms are also too buggy. Until now the best roms are based on Gingerbread like GingerDX or Kuyadroid. They are very stable and has almost all functionality. Or if you want to stick to your Jellybean then try a different rom.

Hi I have the same problem after installing the JBMP 2.0 rom.
The PC sees the SD card fine and so does a droid tablet.
Ive also reformatted it using sd format.
So im presuming this is a bug with this rom?
Cheers

HTC One Mini 2 CARBON5.1.1: Micro SD Card

CARBON-5.1.1-UNOFFICIAL-20150910-0355 micro sd card. problem!!!
Hello everyone.
Installed this firmware. Everything works super. But the phone does not see micro SD card. A reboot does not solve the problem. Tried to remove and put back the card. There is no effect. In TWRP there is a map, with its installed firmware. Help! Don't want to change this firmware. The forum have not found the answer.
formatting the card did not solve the problem. Changing the filesystem did not help. When you install a different third-party firmware the problem remains. in TWRP there is a map and from there you can install the firmware, and in system it is not visible. But the phone responds to the release of the card. Requests to put back.
There are varieties how to fix the situation?
open_gapps-arm-5.1-aroma-20150910
communication module 1.101.1102.19.1017_10.26.41.49.00L
kernel version 3.4.0-g80060b5
build date Do 10.Sep 03:56:45 CEST 2015
build number 5.1.1 LMY48G F7789bf310 test-keys
Me, too...
So i'm not alone with this. Same ROM, same problem. My SD card is accessible from recovery and the system notices when i unplug the card, but after reinserting it says "Checking card for errors" - for 30 hours until i rebooted.
Partitioning and reformatting didn't help. I tried ROM Manager app to partition it and also did so in my notebook. I tried FAT, ext2 and ext4 file systems on this 64GB Sandisk card - lo luck.
I would not like to go back to 5.0 where the SD card just worked. However this is a critical failure.
I think this is the same problem I had before. If you SD card is recognized in the stock ROM and not any AOSP based ROM means that your SD cards partition is set as logical and not as primary. Download MiniTool Partition Wizard and try formatting it from that setting the partition as primary
Tried that one already
Thanks for caring!
My previous ROM was cyanogen 12. The partitions on my card are already primary ones - i wouldn't set up logical partitions without primary ones.
Any other ideas?

Unfortunately not, but do confirm once again whether they are logical or not. There could be a bug in the build you are flashing, you try an older build and see.
