I've searched but I couldn't seem to find a thread, I'm wondering what cases do all you guys have? I just got the hero and I want to protect it, especially the screen. So who has what and who likes what?
Here is some good reviews of the most popular cases.
http://androidforums.com/sprint-htc-hero/49725-bodyglove-vs-otterbox-vs-seido-innocase.html
I use the bodyglove case. I like the way it looks and feels, but do have 2 complaints:
1. When typing in portrait mode, it is hard for my to hit the keys at the edges of the screen (so i normally type in landscape mode, lol!)
2. If you DO happen to drop your phone, sometimes this case pops open. That being said, I've not had my phone damaged when this has happened, but you still should be aware.
I plan on trying the otterbox myself, just to see if it is better, but for the most part I am completely happy with the bodyglove.
I have thew rubber case they sell in the sprint store. i cut the edge's of on the screen part due to not being able to hit the edge of the screen like tejasrichard mentioned with his case
anybody try one of those TPU (thermo plastic) cases they are like silicone ones but i guess way more sturdy and repel dust im interested only one place has em for our heros so im assuming they are pretty new to the market
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0030C4IXK/ref=oss_product
A little pricey for a case but I love it. Great fit and function. Fits perfectly, no complaints.

A buddy of mine has one for his blackberry. I dont think he liked it.
I have the body glove case, and absolutely love it. i switched from the HTC silicon rubber case to it, and have not looked back. love the integrated belt clip. gives full body protection to the Hero, except it does not protect the screen from scratches... but you should have no worries there since it is glass. hth

Has anyone compared the otterbox impact and commuter series? Is the commuter series suppose to be more rugged? I can get the commuter series from newegg for the same price as the impact normally is. Reading their descriptions on the otterbox website aren't very helpful in differentiating the series. The commuter is a hard shell where the impact is a soft one right?
Seidio Innocase II combo. Absolutely love it. Adds almost no bulk to the phone at all.
http://www.seidioonline.com/product-p/bd2-hl3csr3hhrs-bk.htm
It comes in other colors too.
Otterbox
It's a little bulky, yeah, but it has a good feel to it. Also, Hero took a trip into the hot tub again (survived once with no case) with the Otterbox on and there was almost no water inside the battery area when I pulled it out. Phone still works!
i dont know if to get the outterbox one or the Seidio Innocase II combo
i have the body glove already but its too fat

I am actually in the process of ordering parts to build a custom windshield mount. I'll post a guide when the parts all come in. (Some are coming from Hong Kong and taking a while... they were supposed to be here late this week or early next week)

I'm using a swiveling mount from Proclip.
The pricing is absurd, $45 just for the swivel part, you need to have a base mount to attach it to. I already had a custom base in my Honda S2000 I bought for my Garmin ($15) with the standard mounting holes. The Garmin is going to Ebay with these great new 2.1 ROMs and built in NAV.
The Proclip is well built, very functional and sturdy as hell. It works great vertically and horizontally. It DOES NOT work with a case on your Hero. I am using a no-name hard plastic clear case ($5 from the interwebs) that I snap on and off each time I get in my car.
The whole setup works so well that I am using Home++ so that I can utilize horizontal home screens while driving... Can't wait for Darch's stock build and I will switch to this.
Droid Live is my new car radio, tethered to a Sony deck with A2DP bluetooth.
Waterproof and Fully Functional Case!!!
I will be getting a new case in a couple of weeks that has yet to hit the market. It is 100% waterproof and very functional for those of you that are boaters, beach goers and pool sitters. See pic below. I will have them on eBay for $39.95 but for all of you here on XDA, it will be $30.00 + $3.00 shipping. I can invoice you via paypal or we can do the cashier check and mail thing. My eBay user name is "goulpher36" if you would like to check my feedback. You can reserve one if you send me an email and mention "XDA".
Opppsie! I read the rules after my post. Sorry...
So I was reading some reviews on casemate's website and saw several people claiming that it fits (really tight)!!! Anyone on here try this case yet?
http://www.case-mate.com/HTC-HD2-Cases/Case-Mate-HTC-HD2-Barely-There-Cases.asp
would love to have the mirror finish just dont wanna waste 20 bucks lol
I am not sure about the casemate but this case off amazon is cheap, thin profile, slight rubber finish and works great.
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003IDI72Y/ref=oss_product
already have that pos.... dosent protect corners thats why im only looking for people who have used the case mate
Wow....
let us know how the casemate fits
Not compatible with TMOUS HD2
If you read the page it clearly states that the case will not fit the T-Mobile HD2. Sucks because the case looks good

So I ordered this case before TMO released the phone (being proactive) and it does not wrap the phone perfectly. forcing it to fit will crack the case. I also believe that this case has slightly bent my battery cover (which hilariously makes for easier removal). that being said it won't pop off on a drop, and the crack on the case only visible on the inside (when the case is off). I wouldn't recommend this case, but if you can find a USA compatible case, I do highly recommend this style of case.

Thanks for the input...just what I wanted to know
I purchased this case about 2 weeks ago for my US TMO HTC HD2 and I've had no problems with it. It is a little bit snug, but I can take it on and off in a few seconds. And I've taken it off probably 50 times since I got it, my phone has no scratches on it at all. I don't think it's "really tight", it fits perfect. I like how thin and minimal it is. I'd tried a few cheap hard rubberized cases from Ebay and they all started to peel/de-laminate immediately. I like this case so far.
i just bought a similar case with this one for $6 from ebay.It fits my phone perfectly. The only thing that this case is better than mine is: it's not polish.

I saw in one of the post here at xda that it leaves scratches on the edge of your phone due to the tightness when you install it
All the cases look like they won't hold the device well, they all look not very well made and very bulky
found this if anyone is looking for a lower profile fit case that covers the back
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B008GFHP5O/ref=oh_details_o01_s00_i00
I bought that and a tablet stand to prop it up when i need.
Yeah, I haven't seen any cases worth buying. The only one I like is the official Google case, but it lacks a kickstand.
Not impressed, if I get one of the current selection, it would be a compromise and only if it's dirt cheap for the meantime..
So far there is only 1 case that I would pull the trigger on. I am having reservations because there have been concerns over the manufactorer's costumer service and their dealays/lack of updates regarding shipping but if nothing similiar comes out soon then I will gamble on it and pull the trigger.
I hate that the official case is not available at the launch of the device, especially when you have so many people reporting that they've already scratched their screens. There isn't even an ETA.
I agree, don't like any of the cases...i spent many hours looking through the forums and amazon and don't like any of them even the official one. I ended up ordering this one: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B008GFHO6Y/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00 not sure if I'll be happy with it, assuming it's temporary until something better and slimmer comes along. I was going to order a moko case but the right side of the nexus seems exposed when closed and I didn't want to wait until the 25th: http://www.amazon.com/MoKo-Slim-fit...=UTF8&colid=SSJ5KLBELNZ0&coliid=ICUJNDX8PNE5B

Didn't like much of the cases either. Liked Biz-E-Bee's cases with the Android mascot on them but it lacked a stand, so I bought this http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B008GSMRAY until something better comes along.

yes i also hate all the current cases i've seen. I'll probably end with a leather sleeve, my wife wants something just like her nook, can't even find something like that (basically snaps in and looks like a book (http://www.barnesandnoble.com/p/turquoise-quote-cover/23751364?ean=9780594296362).
I don't want elastic bands to hold it in, I dont want something too bulky, and don't want to have to unclip it to stand it up
I would like it to have some sort of standing property and smart cover feature, is that soo hard, slim profile?
The treegloo ones are nice, a little bulky for me, but my wife would probably like it, but i'm not paying $80 for a case (https://www.treegloo.com/)
Yup, haven't seen a single one i've liked besides the official case.
not a fan of any case yet either,
i had a yoomee neoprene case that i got for $3.50 shipped from amazon (prime), unfortunately they no longer offer prime shipping on that item without more in your cart, so that's doing the part for now...it'll do until a better one pops up with wake/sleep at a decent price
The Blurex case here is very nice. Blurex makes amazing cases in my opinion. So if this is your type of case you needn't worry about the quality.
I'm holding out for an Apple smart cover type thing, though it doesn't have the metal back or sides for the magnets to work.
I don't really feel like the back needs to be covered, I just want the screen covered and I want it to function as a stand as well.

Me too, I want a nice hard backed "snap on" type cover with a smart front cover which also acts like a stand like this http://www.amazon.co.uk/Swees-Ultra...X9DG/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1342463463&sr=8-3 which my housemate has for his iPda, just got a simple slip cover for it for now!

Yeah, I want something that looks like a book. The style of your wifes nook case is nice but with different coloring and a white elastic band, it woudl be perfect. I want the treegloo case except Id prefer if the frame wasn't made out of wood but there's nothing else like it on the market for the N7 and the base price just went down $5. I pretty much want a FieldFolio case (fieldfolio.com) but for the N7.
Same. Holding out for better case

This. I've been looking for days for a slim-profile, rotating case. I've found nothing, not even among the Kindle Fire cases, that would fit that criteria and the Nexus 7. Even if I wanted to compromise and get an interim case, most decent cases start at $30 - far too much for such a case.

I know I don't have a lot of posts, but I've been a long time lurker and have been assisted a great deal by these forums(Hince the screen name: Got the original Droid X on pre-order).
I'm having a difficult time finding accesories for my new Note II (just received it Wednesday). I want to get this protected ASAP as this one will be with me for a long time. I need something that could give it a chance to survive a fall from a table to a concrete floor. Obviously I'll be as careful as possible, but I need to prepare for the worst.
I'm familiar with Otterbox, and while this was my knee-jerk reaction of a choice, I want something that might be at least a little different and maybe have a little style without looking like I'm going to a rave with how much neon is thrown on it. Plus I've read all of the reviews on the built in screen protector being garbage, and I don't want to be forced to buy a screen protector with a case that provides one because the built in one is garbage.
I saw that UAG is coming out with one, but their design is disappointing now that they went with the 'iPad' design as opposed to the iPhone/GS3 design (this would probably be my pick if they did).
I like the idea of the Sweet Armor case, but $70 is a bunch of money for a bumper. I have been looking around, and I think if I could find something like LunaTik's Taktik case, I would probably jump all over it.
Any and all help with a direction towards a case that will be tough enough to handle a warehouse floor and a toddler would be great. Thank you in advance!

I assume @rbiter is talking about the Complete Ultra dba case -- the ultra case is a normal tpu style case w/o the exoskeleton cross-member.
In that case (no pun intended) you can find a whole bunch of pictures/opinions from S3 owners of that case in this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1919350&highlight=dba
I got it for my gf's S3 and she loves it.
She has never dropped the phone though.
I saw you mentioned that you don't want to go with Otterbox, and one of the reasons was that you didn't want to deal with the screen-protector -- that others didn't like.
Otterbox makes a "Commuter" case, that, unlike the "Defender", does not include the built in screen-protector, or come as a two piece install. But, it does come with a seperate screen protector. You can check out a thread here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2036565
However, I guess that doesn't solve the problem of "style"....
I'll agree there; the Otterbox line has become stale, but is still an extremely viable solution for protection.

Thanks for the suggestions Brad.
I had a Commuter on my Droid X. It may end up being the one I go with, but I figured there we be so much more of an evolution since then on cases for 'premium' phones. I wouldn't mind spending the money for a good looking case that would also provide superior protection. I'm not going the folio route because I just don't like the idea on a phone that I use as a camera regularly (work and home).
I've got the sweet armor case. It's disappointing. The GPS suffers a bit though I didn't notice a reduction in phone signal. 2 big disappointments were the feel. It has very sharpe edges which makes holding it uncomfortable and the top edge hurt my ear when talking. The second issue is it makes the phone wider which combined with the sharp edges makes the phone harder to use 1 handed. For the money it's not worth it at all.
Get the commuter. Best case in my opinion.

If i'm going with that, I have to find a Best Buy around me that still has one in stock. I have 2 Reward Zone Certs. I need to use. I may have to track one of those down or the Defender just as an expensive carry over until another one of the suggested is available.
I ordered my cases from amazon.co.uk and amazon.de since I live in Europe. They are also available in amazon.com.
Hi all
I just ordered a Note 2 and, by all the comments on cases around here, I wonder if I should hurry to also get a case.
But the point is: is it really necessary?
- A case makes this big phone even bulkier.
- A case can compromise ports access, external audio quality and the gps/nfc/... receptions
- A good case can cost a lot of money
- I won't find a case around the corner (at least, here in Brazil). I must buy it online, maybe pay for shipping and wait for like a month for it to come to me.
Hey, I don't want to be critical to the ones who feel important to use a case. Just want to start some discussion here
My point of view:
I'm retiring an old Motorola Defy. It has never used any kind of case or screen protector and its condition is quite good. It is always in my pocket (a lot of times sharing the space with a bunch of keys) and it has fallen to the ground some times, from like the pocket height for instance.
I know the Note 2 is a different phone, so thats the point of the question. I've never had another Samsung phone, so I may not have the right idea about the durability of it.
So, I'm looking forward to your thoughts and experiences on using (or not using) protective cases for the Note 2.
I would prefer not to have one, but I would mostly get one if this really happens that Samsung did a fragile phone and it is important to get external protection.
100% need a case. I got my note 2 weeks ago and bought a genuine Samsung case which is skim anyway. Protects the screen and back from scratches. Plus no case makes it slippery and one drop will mean destroyed phone. Good luck mate!

Hi Brayden87, thanks for the reply.
I've seen the samsung case on the Note 1. It really is slim.
It actually is so slim I wonder it really does protect the phone. Would you say it can make the difference upon a drop?
This is one I would like to get... probably easier to find too.
For the love of god get a case. I have a cover for that it a back plate with a leather flap that goes over the screen, and a screen protector. My wife has a full case for hers.

Hi plugsmustard.
Very interesting experience. It seems that this phone is really more fragile than my Defy. I don't doubt that, it is so much larger and thinner, it looks like it may brake easily. Its just that Samsung should be salling a phone that is fairly resistant to the day-to-day misshapenings...
But these otterbox are very expensive and would have to find a retailer that ships to Brazil. Can I trust Ebay sellers?
Isn't it too bulky?
What are the least requirements for a good protective case?
Note 2 size is big so I do not want case for it. Only a carbon back cover for better handling and protect camera. When bezel is scratched, I replace it for 5$. Perfect way for me .

You can purchase knock-off Otterbox cases from eBay, as well as others such as the Griffin Survivor case (fake, but still provides great protection) Casemate Tough and the Urban Armor Gear Note 2 case, etc.
Above-mentioned cases have been thoroughly reviewed by the one and only Vectron, and are viewable here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2192333
I got the body glove tpu... slim and sexy. Dropped my phone about 4ft high and didn't get any damage. Of course could be just luck. Phone is big and slick without a case. I would get a slim tpu type of case if you are worried about bulk. It gives a little more protection than naked.

For the love of all that is good and holy, get a case. And you don't need to go crazy buying an expensive one or waiting forever for a HK distributor. I own a bunch of cases because I love to swap 'em out, but my go-to case (and one of the least expensive cases I've bought is the Duzign Sentinel from from eBay that I got for $7.00 from a seller named senyx. The auctions are non-stop and I often see them ending at the opening bid of $7.00, like when I got mine. Shipping is free and the seller is in CA, so you get it quickly:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Duzign-Sent...t=US_Cell_Phone_PDA_Cases&hash=item20d25bad89
It's been discussed on other threads, but this one has a cool H.R. Giger alien look to it, offers awesome protection, and it has, in my opinion, the best TPU inner layer of any case (it's got a nice thick lip to protect the screen of your Note 2 in case of an unlucky fall). Heck the TPU is a great case by itself, and the outer shell comes with a kickstand for horizontal viewing. the Sentinel is identical to the Cruzer Lite Spi-Force case which sells for about $20. Just don't get the black/white as the white does get dirty pretty quickly. Mine is black on black and besides my UAG and bamboo cases, it easily gets the most compliments.
That is my .02 . . . hope it helps.
Not that it's particularly delicate, but it is particularly expensive.
If you don't buy a case, I expect the first bit of damage to trigger a new thread "Scratched by $600 phone! Damn!"
Hi everybody.
Thanks for all the opinions. These Duzign Sentinel do seem quite robust and not that bulky. The looks are quite odd (comparing to the original sober looks of the phone) but are not that bad...
That is the kind of price I would pay without feeling that I am paying a lot to have a bulkier phone.
I wont bother much if the bezel gets scratched. My main concern is the screen integrity.
I do have one year warranty (which I do not know if covers external damage :/) and, if something happen, I could always go DIY to try to fix it. The biggest problem would be the phone become useless for weeks :/
I do agree that it is important to feel safer with such expensive phone.
At the other hand, is hard to believe that Samsung, which is leading against Apple in such quality fight, still delivers such a fragile gadget and even dont provide a reasonable protection option as an accessory. That is very awkward.
Case-mate Tough seems very nice and is found at US$ 10.99 on Amazon. Too bad it doesn't ship to Brazil.

Any other suggestion of worldwide retailers? Ebay?

Haha . . so true. I know it's dorky, but I remember my grandmother always telling me: "an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure." Well, in this case, a $10 case is worth a $100 deductible.

Actually cheaper through Case-Mate because shipping is free if you have Amazon Prime. This other seller requires a $3.99 surcharge. Still, $14.64 is a good deal. Returns or problems would probably be handled much better through original retailer, as well.

Hi all
I just ordered a Note 2 and, by all the comments on cases around here, I wonder if I should hurry to also get a case.

Good question. I had the flip case but it sucks and I dropped my phone twice and got two nice dents. I ordered a simple case for like 5 bucks just so the back doesn't feel slippery and what not. I do not use a screen protector, it'll be fine.
I bought the seidio active case and a glass screen protector before I even bought the note ii. This is a very expensive phone, I wouldn't use it and not buy some kind of protection. Seidio has an updated case call surface case but it didn't work with the glass screen protector cause the inside hard case would rub against the screen protector and push it up.The active case work great it's very slim and has a holster. Well long story short, I dropped my phone many times and nothing has broke or cracked. My job is physically demanding and its easy to bump or drop. Alot of my coworkers has cracked screens or has broken there phone.

Hi Brayden87, thanks for the reply.
I've seen the samsung case on the Note 1. It really is slim.
It actually is so slim I wonder it really does protect the phone. Would you say it can make the difference upon a drop?
This is one I would like to get... probably easier to find too.

I think you're confused with another case, I have the protective cover+ and it's probably 2-3mm thick. Adds barely any thickness to the note 2 and looks awesome. Cost me $30. I didn't want a big case and this one is perfect for me. Covers everything you want covered.

Very interesting indeed. And very nice looking bumper btw. This metallic bumper wouldn`t interfere on the device antennas?
I will consider these as well... I wonder how they compare to full body cases such as Duzign Sentinel, Speck Candyshell or Case-mate Tough.
I didn't feel like I needed a case at all. Till I dropped it. Twice. The rear cover went flying and so did the battery. Phone held up flawlessly, but i didn't like the flying parts. So I bought a cute Incipio case from androidcentral.com
