I´ve been using 6.0 roms. But i want to test a 5.1. I know for it to work i have to flash a kernel. (like kryptonian kernel)
The question. If i want to come back to 6.0. What kernel should i use? I am new and i read a lot of things but i dont understand well ( AND I AM BRAZILIAN)
thanks guys!!

You have to back up current kernel and after you do whatever you want restore it.!!!!!

Backup your current rom in TWRP 3.0 including system data and boot.
Try whatever you want and when you are done with it restore backup to get your current rom.

I would check out this forum, there's a lot of great info:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1002
EDIT:
Sorry, couldn't help myself. It can be confusing first time around. You need to install clockworkmod to do nandroid backups. A full backup will include all the applications.
Alternatively you can download titanium backup which will backup all your apps. That does require root, though.
Read the {Start here} thread to learn how to install cwm(clockworkmod) and how to root.

Nandroid backup is a FULL backup of your phone!
This means that It backups rom, sms, accounts, apps, widgets, and all the settings.
Titanium backup can backup all apps and settings "only".
They can be used together, and they are a must if you want to try new roms
I think this is the way to go:
http://android.modaco.com/content/l...rom-release-v10b-dated-1300166062-15-03-2011/
It won't get more "stock" then this i think

I might have another question here, supposedly i take NANDROID backup through CWM recovery, can i flash the backup image again using CWM recovery?
If u use the modaco fr17 rom. Im on the fearkill rom u can use the stock launcher and install all the lg apps. Its like a smoother amd more stable version of stock that u r running

im using the first link... perfect rom. only in the screenshots he is using a diffrent launcher.
if u install the normal version (NOT THE VANILLA VERSOIN) u will have the stock launcher and u can use it like the stock rom. it is faster and stable and more thats all.
one should also note, that a NANDROID backup also backups the ROM itself, so if you revert to stock and start the NANDROID restore, you'll get the ROM you had before "stockifying" back.
I'd recommend TI Backup for apps and MyBackup Root for SMS/Settings. If you sync your contacts and calendar with google, I advise you to exclude these items when backing up.

I think It's better to ask in the rom 3d

[Q] Is CyanogenMod already rooted? Can i flash it direct/normally on XXLSZ?

Hey guys, i know it is a n00b question but i'll ask anyway.
I am planning to flash CM 10.1 (Nightly), it's the first time i flash a ROM (Okay, i flashed XXLSZ some time ago but didn't wiped the phone, just flashed it) and at the moment i am backing up everything with Titanium Backup. But how will i get my things back after flashing CM? Does it come already rooted so i can just install Titanium Backup again and get everything back?
Oh, and another question, i know i will lose a lot of TW features like S Planner, S Memo and S Pen Gestures. But i really would like to just be able to use the pen to navigate through menus and stuff like that, is that possible?
EDIT: Oh, and is there another pure 4.2 Android ROM better/more stable than CM10.1 Nightlys? Can i flash it normally once i am using XXLSZ?
Thanks guys, and sorry for my bad english.

1) Yes, CM roms are pre-rooted
2) Yes, you can use your spen to navigate through menus..
3). http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1847786 this is the place which you might need..
4)all the CM roms are good.. there is nothing like good or bad...
5). No you need to wipe everything i.e. system, preload,data.. then flash for a clean install
hit-THANKS-
Trying to flash and getting error Status 7, what's wrong? Is that because i am using SpeedMod Kernel? Already wiped the phone.

Few questions, CWM Backup, Custom Stock, Gingerbread...

Hi All,
Slowly getting use to my Note, and totally loving it... Yes, I have joined this party very late... But trust me, this device is PREMIUM compared to my last phone... So enjoying all what it has to offer...
However....
1) Is there a way to check your backups in CWM?? Just did a backup of what has taken me 2x days to finely tune the ROM.. only to find it failed an MD5 check and so wont restore.... - POINTLESS backup
2) Is there any official Samsung Stock Roms (UK pref / International) that are converted/flashable via CWM?? (Dont mind if they are GB, ICS or JB) I will of course be using Philz Kernel if its ICS based....
3) Are there any CLEAN Gingerbread roms available, either based off official Samsung GB or if there was a clean CM7 build...??
Other than that, I think most things are cool with the N7000
Thank you, Lister

Hi AndroidSlave,
Thank you for your prompt answer(s).... Indeed it certainly was helpful for No2)
1:
However, not sure what you mean by going to the folder in CWM?? I was in CWM and started the backup, watched a bit of TV and came back to find the phone had rebooted, didnt tell me if it was successful or not, just ready to use phone again. Would of been nice if CWM had failed for it stay on that screen and show an error. I have since wiped the phone and now the backup is useless... All the files are there, and all 1.2Gb of data is present in seperate files. Not sure if I can flash them one at a time, although not a great way to restore...
2:
Brilliant, thank you... I had no idea that a DEODEXED rom was what I was after, and is indeed a Stock... I have got XXLSZ, is this the latest best one for this????
3:
I did find that thread already, but a lot of the Roms in there are tweaked and not clean/pure.... I wondered if there was a STOCK (DEODEXED) Gingerbread Rom that can be flashed in CWM, or if there was ever a build of CM7 for the N7000 note... As far I can see there is no CM7, which surprises me as the phone shipped with Gingerbread and the phone itself was considered premium at the time, so would of thought the CM team would of done one...??
But yeah, thank you for your help...
When installing a GB rom (beit Stock or AOSP) do I need to use a custom Kernel then, and if so, who???
Thanks, Lister

sorry i misunderstood what you were asking. CWM should NOT automatically reboot, so to me that means you had an unsuccessful backup. It should at the end say something like backup complete... also, regarding a million files in blob folders for CWM, that is not the best format. in backup settings, change the format to "tar" not "dup"

if you want the info, search for the difference b/t deodexed and odexed on google, its interesting..
But yeah LSZ is a little old (almost a year now).
I would go with something XXLT4, LT5, LT6, LT9, or LTA (in order of newest, but there have been no major changes since LT4, so LT4 is fine), if you can find one. be sure to always include /preload in your full wipe procedure when flashing stock roms.
Another option is to just flash a FULL stock ROM, then Flash PhilZ (PC Odin or Mobile Odin) - but beware using odin and not have all the knowledge puts you in the DANGER ZONE of killing your phone with the brick bug

to Install GB via flashable zip, you can flash via Mobile Odin or CWM - or if the thread has special install instructions, follow those
this search string gets a few results

As for CM7, they just never did it... CM9 was first.
Also, I know you're looking for stock stuff right now, but CM10.2 is a MAJOR upgrade from CM7. The official CM10.2 nightlies are pretty amazing.
But thats all opinion, the stock has a lot of cool features and benefits... just not for me (i used to love it, but its too bloated and slow)

Just Rooted S3 Mini, Whats Next?

I was able to root my phone. Now my question is that I would like to run a lag free system. Would changing the Rom fix that? Will I lose any features on my phone? I want a rom that is Simple ( google edition phone/ no bloatware) My current system is 4.2.1, would I need to stay on 4.2.1 to keep my features or that doesnt matter. I am a total noob and the more explanation, the better ( & more appreciated).

Custom ROMs also have their pros and cons, but are generaly faster and smoother than stock. They add new features, that's why we love them, but there are some sacrifices. If u decide to go custom, go to Original Android Development subforum here, browse around, and make your pick... (I personaly recomend CM 10.2 from NovaFusion if you want a stable, yet smooth custom ROM that won't let you down). Ofcourse, when flashing them, and recovery of your chosing, you should know what you're doing, at least on paper, so come prepared. All the info is already here, just search it.
Staying on stock has some advantages too. It's almost risk free, and like pang34 said, u can do lots of things on stock (now that you are rooted) too that will improve performance and customize your phone. There are also some Stock Based ROMs here (haven't tried them, but also a good option), you should check them out.
The decision is all yours. You chose, that's the cool thing about Android.:highfive:

4.2.1?? What s3 mini verson do you have?
If is GT-I8190 the you can costomize like custom recovery and rom.
You'll not lose any feature, you can boost the phone smoothnes and response to comands by making a good combination of kernel-cutom rom, you can boost battery life and performance as well.
You'll lose nothing just the warranty, nothing more.

Hi, I would personally install twrp from novafusion. http://novafusion.pl/downloads#
Install using Odin. I use twrp for any ROMs I install, it has never let me down.
After you have twrp installed, click on wipe>advanced wipe and check
System
Data
Cach
Dalvik
Then install what ever ROM you have downloaded.

best way is always via odin but with latest twrp by novafusion it is very easy to install. i recommand to do a clean install every month or after complexer updates.

Wrong section.
This OTA should be the stagefright fix., you will need this update to receive/install android 6. You have to be on the latest firmware to do so. But if you are rooted with custom recovery you will have to go back to stock anyway, so you can flash a firmware including this fix than.

Yes it is a good advice You're talking about "stock" firmware ?
Anyway, to update my phone to this stagefright fix Android 5 OTA and when i will update to android 6 OTA, i will have to flash stock "unrooted" firmware, so i will lost all my apps and data.
With my olders phones i used cyanogen mod to have a "pure Android" with some tweaks, but with my Motorola Moto G 2, which is already "pure Android", i was happy to use "only" Xposed for just the tweaks i want. BUT, i didn't understood that i could'nt update Android whithout the hard process of reflashing stock, reroot, reinstall xposed, reinstall my apps.....
So i'm thinking to flash Cynaogen mod on my Moto G 2, but could you confirm :
-Future update, including big one's like CM 12 to CM 13 can be installed without having to reflash anything and so without lost data ?
-I can install xposed and modules on Cyanogen firmware if i need extra tweaks not included in CM ?

Right, without this stagefrigth OTA you won´t be notified when further updates are available.
And yes, I´m talking about stock firmware. To receive OTA updates you´ll have to be on latest stock recovery/firmware and be unrooted.
You find all this things like firmwares http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-g-2014/development/original-motorola-firmware-collection-t3153533, tutorials to flash them http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-g-2014/general/restore-to-stock-t287365 or tools to do it automatically http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-g-2014/development/tool-restore-to-stock-firmware-flasher-t3016236 and this really good one incl. stagefrightfix http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-g-2014/general/official-stock-firmware-5-0-2-lxb22-46-t3019612 in this index:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-g-2014/general/moto-g-2014-index-threads-t3033453 .
So you don´t need to have a nandroid backup to go back to stock.
But you will lose your apps and personal data of the internal memory, you can backup your apps with titanium but basically it´s the hard process.
Even if you use cyanogen mod you maybe can dirty flash the small updates, the step from cm12 to cm13 demands a clean flash and your data will be lost.
Xposed is working on all versions imho, rooted stock, cm or other custom roms. A lot of custom roms have a bunch of nice tweaks on board.
At the end of the day you have to options:
- Flash latest stock firmware and recovery (with the loss of your personal data) and wait for official motorola 6.0, then flash TWRP and root your device the recommended way. Flash/install your favorite tweaks and rootapps like xposed (There is a 6.0 OTA of the brazillian soaktest available, which works on XT1069 and XT1068 but I think that´s not what you are looking for).
- Choose one of the upcoming custom roms based on cm 13 sources which bring a lot of tweaks with it and can be used with xposed also. Some are already available but still have some bugs, you´ll have to decide if it´s worth to wait until everything is more stable (Your personal data will get lost also).
I´m on a custom rom and kernel and I will wait until my favorite rom will be availabe on 6.0 or another one will satisfy my needs as a daily driver.
Hope I could help you.

Is there some description i should be care of ? Which one is for my device ?
What does mean "cid7", "cid12" , "reza" ?
My device is french and double sim.
So you don´t need to have a nandroid backup to go back to stock.

Yes, it is good to know that
But you will lose your apps and personal data of the internal memory, you can backup your apps with titanium but basically it´s the hard process.

I make regular titanium backups but you're right, it will be a hard and long process
I have also "link2sd" which link a lot of my app data to my external sd card.., i don't know how titanium will restore all this kind of settings...
Even if you use cyanogen mod you maybe can dirty flash the small updates,

"Maybe" ? "Dirty" ? So it isn't sure that with a custom rom like CM, things will be easier ?
the step from cm12 to cm13 demands a clean flash and your data will be lost.

I have to restore "stock" recovery too ?
and wait for official motorola 6.0, then flash TWRP and root your device the recommended way. Flash/install your favorite tweaks and rootapps like xposed

Ok. I can also not make android 5 OTA updates and wait for official motorola 6 (by checking web news about that) and so flash it directly to Stock 6 ?
(There is a 6.0 OTA of the brazillian soaktest available, which works on XT1069 and XT1068 but I think that´s not what you are looking for).

I would choose this option but if the "small updates : for instance from android 6 to android 6.." are not easier to do that whit rooted stock rom, i have no reason to switch to CM. I have all tweaks i want with xposed and 3 modules (gravity box, pbmc and APM+) but i just would to avoir to have to do a hard process each time there is an android update..

Yes you help me a lot, but some thing are not clear : advantage/inconvenients between rooted xposed stock VS custom rom : about update process only..
Thanks a lot !
If you are on latest stock rom you will be notified on your XT1068, no matter if you are rooted or not. You won´t be able to install it when you are not on stock rom/recovery and with system changes like xposed.
About updating:
Most custom roms are cm or asop based, so there is no big difference between CM "official" and other custom roms.
In some cases you can dirty flash the small steps (6.0 to 6.0.1 or something like that) which means you have not to wipe your data etc.
A dirty flash is often possible but not recommended because you can have problems like fc´s afterwards or even worse softbrick your device.
In most cases you have to clean flash a new version which always means take the hard road. But I did this procedure very often now and it takes me one evening to set up my phone incl. installing apps, tweaks and so on.
If you chose a stock rom with xposed and your favorite modules the update process is similar to the one on a custom rom as far as wiping is necessary. But you have to do some more work.
You have to flash stock recovery again, full unroot the phone and revert the system changes you made, often the much safer way is flash back to an untouched stock rom which includes a stock recovery. The stock recovery can be extracted from the firmware and is always part of it. So if you flash stock the recovery will become stock too.
The advantage of a custom rom is not just the inbuilt tweaks, they are often more fluid and battery friendly than stock roms, they are mostly pre-rooted and xposed works on the most of them too.
The update process depends on the rom here, sometimes you can dirty flash the small steps, sometimes it always needs a clean flash.
Hi
I've read all your explanations, thanks a lot, all is more clear for me now
If i try to resume, custom rom has these advantages against stock rom for the update process :
-No need to flash untouched stock rom before update.
-No need to reroot after update.
-No need to reflash custom recovery after update.
But both custom and stock rom has these inconvenients :
-Wipe necessary after updates. (sometimes littles updates can be did without wipe with custom roms).
So i think i prefer to choose custom rom, and i think that the best solution for me is to wait a CM 13 (android 6) stable release. Do you think it is a good solution ?
Thanks

Yes, you I think you've got the essential infos.
Waiting for a stable cm13 release is a good choice, but keep your eyes open, even now there are some modified roms based on asop/cm13 that have less bugs and glitches like original cm, Nexus experience http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3143528 as one example or the very promising Viper rom and kernel.:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3261838 just to name two of a lot good projects here on xda.
In the meantime you can try a 5.1.1 rom like minimal os which is rock stable.
But it's your choice when and what you going to try. Sometimes it needs a bit of experimentation.
Good luck!

As you are from france I suppose you have the european firmware on your XT1068 which is the one with "DSDSALL" in it´s name.
Please confirm that in your "about phone" settings (firmware version and build Nr) !
Just for your info: DE stands for germany,BR for brazil,GB for great britain and so on.
So if you are sure that you are on the european firmware the second firmware from above is the right for your phone: RETAILDSDSALL_XT1068_5.0.2_LXB22.99-16_cid7_CFC.xml.zip.
LXB22.99-16 is the latest 5.0.2 build.
If I helped you just hit the thanks button.

Yes, I think the stock firmware in the post above ( RETAILDSDSALL_XT1068_5.0.2_LXB22.99-16 ) has the latest update included. If not you should find one in the "easy stock installer" thread by @reefuge. ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-g-2014/general/official-stock-firmware-5-0-2-lxb22-46-t3019612 )

Hi,
I didn't made any flash since our last discussion and i'm always on Android 5.0.2 without stagefright fix. I will choose between CM13 (when it will be stable) and Stock MM when it will be official.
Meanwhile, i downloaded the update by mistake and it prompt me to install it every day. I can only report it but not fully cancel it.
Do you know how or where i can delete the downloaded file ?
