Thanks in advance for any help with this.
Unlocked bootloader (Chinese middle man) Moto xt 1058 on AT&T. Rooted, xposed. 4.4.2 stock
Planning to do a factory reset.
In recovery for TWRP, do I just swipe for factory reset, not choose anything in "advanced"? Will that reset the phone to factory settings, but leave the operating system ok?
Have become a bit rusty with all this, so any advice is very appreciated.
Thanks!

Factory reset via TWRP is the same as you select in the phone from settings.
The only difference is you don't loose any song, video, files (like rom) you have downloaded (this option is possible via setting on stock since 6.0+).
I only use TWRP 2.8.6.0 offical and now unofficial 3.0.2-0 by TeamMEX.
To delete OS you need to go in advanced and select system but you only need to do when you installing a different rom.
Usually advanced option is used for wipe cache and/or ART/Dalvick cache.
My phone from reference:
Phone: Moto X 2013
Model: XT1052 EU, Asia, International
Stock OS: Lollipop 5.1
Actual OS: Resurrection Remix 5.7.4 (Android 6.0.1)
TWRP: 3.0.2-0 unofficial

At the moment I have nexus experience rom v10.0.3
My question is, can I have 6.0 stock rom?
My device is XT1092
Yes, restore to 5.1 factory image completely (system, recovery, boot, bootloader, partition, modem) and then OTA update to 6.0.

Hi,
i have a xt1068 with lollipop rooted and with TWRP ver. 22.21.28.titan_retaildsds.retaildsdsall.en.03.reteu
i want to try marshmallow and if not satisfied go back to lollipop.
needing a TWRP flashable marshmallow!
and after... can i make a TWRP backup of my current system, flash the TWRP version of marshmallow (if exist),
and if i want go back to lollipop flashing my backup previously created?
no one? please!
-Turn off device and boot into fastboot mode (Vol. Down + PWR)
-Navigate to recovery from fastboot menu with Vol. Down, then press Vol. Up to select it.
-Once in TWRP: -make a full backup of your device, Tap backup and check 'boot', 'data', 'cache' & 'system'
-make sure and set the backup storage as your SDCard or OTG-USB (if present)
-Enable compression for backup (optional)

You say your device is rooted, which means your /system partition is modified and you have a custom recovery installed, thus installing marshmallow via OTA update is not an option for you. Unless you first re-flash stock Lollipop, which is a hassle. As far as I know there is no stock marshmallow flashable zip for TWRP, so your options are:
-Flash stock Marshmallow via fastboot.
OR
-Get someone with an XT1068 to make a clean TWRP backup of stock marshmallow.
Things to note:
-You will have to re-flash TWRP after flashing stock marshmallow via fastboot unless you exclude 'recovery.img' while flashing
-If this is the first time that you're upgrading to marshmallow, that means that your bootloader will be upgraded....and can not be downgraded otherwise you'll hardbrick your device.
-From that point onward you're gonna want to avoid OTA update for marshmallow if you decide to go back to lollipop, otherwise possible hardbrick.

Apart from that, if you dislike marshmallow then just do a factory reset via TWRP (clear ART/Dalvik cache, cache & data) then do a restore of the lollipop backup you did.
Bonus TIP: when you flash marshmallow to try it out, you can make a full backup of marshmallow via TWRP then switch to and from lollipop and marshmallow without a PC......unless you screw up your phone in some other way. Good Luck!!!

Flash cm 13 mm ROM first.. That'll upgrade your boot loader then flash another mm ROM (optional) . going back to lollipop is as easy as flashing a lollipop rom via twrp
Hello to all
im used to modding of google nexus (all models), since I took this op3t I have only problems....basic problems, need some help!
this is my way:
unlocked bootloader
flashed latest twrp, and make a full backup
all wipe cache, dalvik, data and system
flash resurrection remix, opengapps x64 micro, supersu
reboot
whenever I try to reboot it always comes back on the screen TWRP, where i am wrong?
I tried to flash the rom via adb sideload, but on reboot tells me: os absent or not installed, but the flash result was ok.
then I noticed that putting the TWRP recovery, internal memory I went from 64 gb to 20 gb, its normal?
I kindly ask a little help or if there is a guide for this phone, it is impossible that I can not flash a custom rom on my op3t?
thanks for help or suggestions
About the storage I do not know, about the booting into TWRP I had the same problem.
How I fixed it was turn it off completely (like 10-15 seconds pushing the power button) and then start the phone. It should then boot from the ROM.

Follow this thread, you should be good.

Also there is a toolkit by Ahmed, could try that too.
I was running latest LineageOS nightly build with Official TWRP 2.8.7.0 before. Then I decided to try Unofficial TWRP (3.1.0 and then 3.0.2) & some nougat ROMs.
(1)Flashed recovery in fastboot, went OK.
(2)Flashed XPerience ROM & OpenGapps, went OK.
(3)Tried to wipe cache/dalvik, stuck forever.
(4)Manually rebooted, after boot animation i get stuck on a "Encryption Unsuccessful" screen, where i can only hit Reset Phone button which reboots into recovery wipe cache etc and then the whole cycle starts again.
Can someone suggest the easiest method to get my device functional again?
Also somewhere in between my internal storage was shown as 0MB, which I fixed by repairing data partition.
My phone is an XT-1060 Developer Edition.
You may need to re-flash to an older TWRP; I can say I have had similar issues with the unofficial 3.X.X releases, in my case mainly stemming from (according to the logs) something breaking and becoming unable to mount the Cache partition. Re-flashing the same version did not work, and a different 3.X version of TWRP would restore functionality for a bit, but then it would crop up again at some point (I couldn't even flash NAND backups, had to re-flash recovery first). Another issue is that there are only a couple of the unofficial releases available because that OP's hosting site went down (BasketBuild I think?). So I went back to the last official TWRP and MM for now, though if anyone has any recommendations to avoid/fix this, that would help a ton!
Hello,
Would appreciate your help with this.
My device was officially unlocked, used to have lineage installed.
Once I've tried to install the recovery official global MIUI 9.1 (from
thread-1001529-1-1.html at en.miui.com) I got to a boot loop and now I can only boot to TWRP or to fastboot screen.
in TWRP, when I choose reboot, it shows me a message saying: "no OS installed!, are you sure you want to reboot?"
Would advanced wiping (other than Dalvik/ART cache , Cache & System) might help?
Any other way to go here?
Thanks,
Buli
Sounds more like you need to reinstall OS.
