Hello,
what is the best ROM for playing Pokemon GO on this device? I have used CyanogenMod 4.4.4. custom rom, but when im playing the phone laggs and sometimes crashes, and android system wastes too much ram memory (about 400-500 MB, almost half). The GPS also doesn't work well (in bigger cities it works but not precisely, in rural areas it doesnt work at all). I tried to play on other roms, but device fails on safety net check, so i can't play.
So, does anyone play Pokemon without any problems and on which rom?

You're lucky. I've tried about dozen of roms but none of them work. I always get the 'unable to athenticate' error. What rom are you using? I'd be happy with that.
I do not know the minimum requirements of Pokémon GO. But official CM 10.1.3 has the best performance I ever tried. In second place comes official CM 11. You can try some kernels to improve performance too. I recommend Werewolf's and Iodak's kernels.

I guess the idea is to test your own skills in modding your phone and see, what the different developers would like us to have. After a few installs, you are hooked at getting your daily fix of new ROM and will suffer withdrawal symptoms, if no new ROM are a available for even a short period!!
Even if all the latest ROMs are not fully functional, they still add many new features to our phone.
I have become very enthusiastic about my phone again and I have had it for almost two years now. The longest time I have ever had a mobile phone.
What also is interesting is that you are able to try so many new apps, that only works if your phone is rooted.
So the benefits are many and if you are not satisfied, there are very good guides on how to go back to stock.
Good luck

CM 9 don't support Hardware acceleration. Thats the major problem that i know

Hardware Acceleration in CM9 for LG O2X is not working as of now (Needs LG to release an ICS based kernel).
Due to which:
- Video Recording doesn't work.
- Will not be able to play HD videos.
- Some of the system apps will start to lag after some usage (Phone & Contacts).
thank you . i hope the promised official ICS update will reach soon .

Ok, so CM 9 and CM 10 has the following problems:
1) No Hardware acceleration which means:
a) You CAN'T use your video camera at all. Now, I know that some says that you can use Videocam illusion, but that app can record only very low quality videos, which I found to be pretty useless (a lot of CPU use for that low quality).
b) Google Chrome is not supported due to it's need to access the GPU, but this is not so important due to other very good browsers
c) You will experience scrolling jittering. That being said when you will try to change between photos in the gallery (usually there is the bigest problem), or between songs in some media players by swaping on the screen, you will see something like the photo or album art is going back from where it came, but the result is good: changing the photo / song. The only problem is the visual one.
d) Gameloft games, and especially those with a little video at the begining will not work until you delete those clips from the instalation folder.
2) No radio application => no more FM radio for you. Wi-Fi (or a really well data plan) resolves this thing by using it for Tune-in Radio, a very good application for radio. I prefer to use it even on GB roms, because of the very good sound quality regardless the standard radio that sometimes loses the signal.
3) On CM 10 there are a few more bugs like no automatic brightness, or battery drain due to Wi-fi. Regardless all theese bugs, I found CM 10 from ParanoidAndroid to be a way much better rom than any other around here. Keeping the Wi-Fi off I don't experience any battery drain (more than that my battery last longer than anytime) and my favorite no data connection lost (I don't know if this was a carrier problem or not, but before switching to CM 10 i had a lot of data connection problems).
4) Not to be forgotten the lag on installing applications from Google Play Store. I found this problem on almost every single rom I've tried, and I tried almost all of them. I think I found only one or two roms w/o this problem, but being a maniac for the latest updates I've chosen the ICS and JB roms instead of a very stable one
5) No GPS working on CM 10
Now it's your decision. If you can live w/o video camera and gps and try to not get angry at every scroll bug you should really try the new CM 9 and 10 roms

Hi guys,
i've tried millions of ICS/JB roms, and none of them, is able to work with the GPS properly, with the exception of the roms based on the Official V30*, but then, on those roms, several aplications don't work properlly.
So, seems i'm forever stucked in ZEUS rom.
Does anyone have a similar problem? If don't, please, tell how to solve this.
Thanks for helping
GPS in our phone is quite ****ty.
You, me, and everyone...the gps on this phone isn't a great deal...
It works fine on stock ICS, and IZS. But even on those roms, if I put it side by side with my Galaxy Tab, I find out that my tablet is able to lock twice the satellites, and have about more 10dB on each one.
But yes, on custom roms it's even worse...

I agree. I use IZS + V30 and GPS locks quite fast. If you're looking for a custom ROM and want to use GPS, I would suggest this one.
But still it doesn't beat my wife's Sony Experia ray's GPS.
You can give the NOS GPS script by Exit_only a try. I put it on my OB and the performance is better but still not perfect. FYI perform a backup first and I'm running CM10.

Use Pimp my rom.... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1908269
None of the gps fixes are going to work with any CM10/CM10.1 based rom, although they will work fine for LG stock ICS based roms.
Phones basically have 3 ways to get a GPS fix:
1. GPS only, takes about 20-30 minutes, info is downloaded from the satelites at about 30 bits per second, thats why it takes so long.
2. LTO (Long Term Orbit) takes about 5-10 minutes, this downloads info from the internet, so less info is needed from the satelites. LTO data is valid for a couple of weeks.
3. A-GPS (Assisted GPS) takes under a minute. Downloads lots of data from the internet based on your locataion, so even less is needed from the satelites, data is valid for 1-2 days.
All the fixes posted on the net are to reconfigure the gps.conf file, which is used for A-GPS.
In all cm builds, there is a bug in the glgps binary (in /system/bin), it tries to locate a web address bcmls2.glpals.com which is hard coded into the binary file, when it tries to get the DNS address using getaddrinfo() it seems to add an extra full stop the to the end of the address, making it invalid, which then fails to resolve. After this failure, no further attempts are made (even using the tlsStopForInvPath="false" flag).
Because of this bug, any changes to gps.conf or gps_brcm_conf.xml will not be used. So changing them wont do anything.
It is possible to force the downloading of LTO data using GPSAid from the market, it uses a method that bypasses the gps chip, so it works. But even using LTO data, it still makes the gps useless for any type of navigation app.
All the gps drivers in CM use the same ones as in LG ICS, except CM is missing three location apps: LocMgrPD.apk, LocMgrProvider.apk and LocMgrPt.apk. I think the problem with the bug mentioned above is because its missing these files, as LG ICS gps works fine.
I haven't been able to get either of those 3 apks installed on CM, resigning didn't work so it might be lack of LG dependencies, but if any dev can get those files installed and running on a CM build, I'm pretty sure that will fix the gps problem.
Hello everyone, I'm having a weird problem which has been happening for quite a while now, basically stock ROM using speed-test app 20-30Mb/s download speed AWESOME
Now when using custom ROMS (So far Cyanogenmod and Viperone) my download speed is limited to 2Mb/s youtube stutters, pages load slow etc pretty much a pain since its a smart phone that uses a lot of internet, now it gets weirder, no matter what my download is locked to my upload speed always stays a nice healthy 10Mb/s, even weirder still is if I reboot the phone for the first 3-4 minutes of being back on download speed is back to normal (20-30Mb/s)
Even weirder still is when using Android Revolution HD (ARHD) my WiFi still works perfectly, so what ever ARHD and the stock from have in common my WiFi must agree with it! As far as troubleshooting I've done clean installs, I've even made my router run only in 2.4GHz
Someone please help I don't wanna be stuck on one custom ROM when there is so many to try
please provide some more details
which Android?
have you tried updating your firmware?
I always make sure I have the newest, happened with 4.2/4.3/4.4 base firmwares
have you tried unchecking "WiFi Optimization" in WiFi?

Sorry to dig up this old thread, but I am experiencing similar issues, albeit with a different device (OnePlus 3).
Only the stock Oxygen Rom gives good Wifi tethering performance, but trying Cyanogenmod, Bliss, etc. all give the same 1-2Mbps speeds like you described.
Did you ever figure out the issue?
Are (were) you on T-Mobile US by chance?
TIA.
Recently I've flashed CM 10.1.3 (stable version). Everything is pretty much great (except battery...it's draining pretty fast but I'm ok with that since I got a portable charger).
But the number one thing that is annoying me the most is that I can't get a gps fix no matter what. It doesn't matter whether I'm indoors or outdoors, or what app I'm using (waze, Google maps, etc.), or what "gps fixing" apps I installed. I just can't get a freaking gps lock anywhere!
Before I flashed this ROM, the gps didn't really work well but at least it worked...
I've searched the entire world wide web (obviously started from XDA) and found some interesting answers but none of them helped me even a bit.
Is this a known issue in cm 10.1.3 or is it just me?
thanks in advance

thank you to all of you guys for answering!!
Ok so I've tried modifying the gps.conf like deepmanu suggested, but still couldn't get a gps fix at all.
I know that LG screwed up with the gps in this device and that it is so sensitive that even if I replace the ROM
(I don't think that the CM team played with the gps files), it won't work at all.
Has anyone experienced this and found a solution? because right now the only solution that I'm think about is getting a nexus 5 or something =\

I managed to get my GPS working better by tweaking the gps.conf file, but nothing wonderful. If I am sat in my car I get almost no signal, yet my Nexus 7 is high-quality, 13 sats and almost instant lock. The GPS chip/receiver is crap in our device and that is why I will never buy an LG again. Apart from the GPS I love my phone, but that is too important a part for me.

Thought about it, but changing the baseband to a lower version means to compromise on lower quality phone calls and these kind of stuff.
And I'd rather have a terrible gps signal with great phone calls quality, than the other way around.

Maybe it's not the best chip, but still good enough. Samsung Galaxy S2-series phones all have a way worse receiver, I was barely getting any signal without network.
Problem with custom roms is that nearly all of them only include the very basic necessary configuration. See CM gps.conf and stock gps.conf (included in Omni), there's a big difference. I don't say this switch did wonders (it wasn't bad at all before too), but surely stabilizes signal.

You can't. To connect to an External GPS source is an immediate violation of the Ingress ToS and the app will refuse to launch. This is to assist, at least partly, in stopping players from spoofing their location to cheat.
So, you can connect to an external GPS source, but you can't play Ingress while doing so.

The best thing I have found is to make sure you fully close the Ingress app (Sign out and clear it from memory) when you get to the new location, then restart it and see if it works - that sometimes seems to force the app to acquire a GPS location quicker. Other than that, buy a different phone - not ideal I know.

Hi guys,
I resurected my N7000 as a Pokedex for my son, so I can go out and catch some Pokemons with him.
As Pokemon Go requires Android 4.4 I first tried the newest NightOwl 6.0.1. Unfortunatelly GPS was awefull, didn't work most of the time and was far from the actual spot when "working". It may be a problem, that it is connected to the internet via WLAN over my phone, as I have no SIM fot the Note and so have to run it in GPS only mode. I tried Stock Android 4.1.2 with a manual APK installation. As it does not support Google login, my son had do start from zero with a new Pokemon Club account. As GPS was better (while not good),it was worth it. However, performace is bad in rural areas and not playable in town. I am currently downloading stock N7000XXLA4 (Android 4.3.6) and hope for better performance and better GPS as it still loses GPS signal >50%.
Can anybody suggest a ROM for Pokemon Go for the N7000? I need very good GPS, good game performance and if possible Android 4.4 or newer.
Thanks
Muto1
You can try OMMI ROM 4.4 or Nightowl 5.1.1 + War Kernel. Nightowl 6.0.1 is not good for gaming.
i use SLimKat rom for playing pokemon go and it's stable, with xposed to using GPSJoyStick
