7.0 port from nexus 4? - One (M7) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

as the snapdragon s4pro and 600 are very similar and other than minor things the nexus 4 and m7 are close phones on the hardware level, how hard would it be to port this rom?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-4/orig-development/wip-aosp-7-0-nougat-t3448444
would someone be willing to give it a go?
I have not been in the dev scene since pre 5.0 and things have changed enough that it would be almost starting from scratch for me I figured someone with experience porting modern roms would be better suited for the task.

Why should someone port this rom? We have already two nice working 7.0 Roms for the M7 well both are not in final release yet but you can use Slim7 as daily driver its pretty good http://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-one/orig-development/rom-slim-7-t348665. Porting a Rom is a lot of work and Slim7 is AOSP so i think thats better

Porting ROMs isn't that easy, even with similar hardware. Building AOSP-based ROMs isn't easy as well. I'm working on it since two months, but it has its complications. If you want stock-like Nougat ROMs, I highly recommend the Slim7 beta, which isn't loaded with a ton of apps, or wait until I figure out the build of Nougat ROMs and get a working build of AOSP-OMS (which is pure AOSP but using CyanogenMod's sources and build system, so it's easy to build for the m7)

Significence of impending Nexus Experience launch

I was just wondering what the significance of the Nexus Experience HTC One launch on June 26th is for the dev community. Obviously the ruu will be accessible to all and a version of stock android will most likely be available for us to flash as a rom. However will this help devs with other AOSP based roms like Paranoid Android and CM 10.1? Will we start to see much more stable versions of those after the launch of the Nexus Experience device?

Of course yes this will help. :good: The devs will get all the drivers they've been needing to make AOSP golden (if thats your preference) :highfive:

Android 6.0 isn't even fully deployed to nexus devices yet, you'll have to be much more patient . We will probably see 6.0 CM or AOSP roms relatively soon. I'm not expecting any 6.0 rom based on HTC Sense UI. CM13 development started about 10 days ago btw.

Custom Roms
As I am sure you know of by now. There are some unofficial cm13 roms on XDA threads that will bring Marshmallow on the Htc One m7 for both GSM and verizon/sprint variants. As per usual these roms are in early stages so bugs are expected. Overall the roms I have tested work smoothly and features like doze, app permissions are present. Bugs like FC on camera while taking pictures and phone restarting when plugging headphones do annoy me a lot and thus I went back to stable 5.1 roms. You could try the marshmallow roms out of curiosity like I did, but you probably should wait if you want to use them as a daily driver for your phone.
Hello
I've didn't heard anything
VanirAOSP
I recommend the VanirAOSP ROMs. They're usually among the first to make builds of new versions of Android, and they do a great job of doing it in a timely manner while having a grasp on stability. As of their latest nightlies, the only bug on their Marshmallow builds is that the camera app force closes when you launch the camcorder app, but this is a bug with all Marshmallow ROMs. A big plus with Vanir is that they do support all M7 variants, which as a Sprint user myself, is fantastic.
I hope you enjoy it, and Happy Holidays!

Happy with 5.1.1 but is 6.0 better?
I'm a machinist and this is all Russian to me, my nephew rooted my phone due to no more updates anyhow my phone works great with this OS "t-mobile m7" but does it upgrade by itself by me checking like before or do I lose my game place and everything like before anyhow great job guy's it works great and I'm happy

I want to Port from m8 to m7, but dont have a clue... lol, can anyone help?

I love my m7, and refuse to get another device, so i'm bummed that htc abandoned it...
anyway I have become a huge fan of the stock rooted gpe roms, and would like to port the gpe 6.0 rom from m8 to m7 gsm, right now we only have a broken cm 13 but...
I dont like cm
I want 6.0
I am not afraid of linux, been using it off and on for years, usually in between major game releases tying me to windows... lol
but i have never ported a rom or built one from source, I have found several useful tutorials on building aosp, but i get stuck at the device specific bits.
so i figgure porting the gpe rom using the existing cm 13 as a base would be ideal, if anyone could point me to any usefull tutorials, or help walk me through it, I would really apretiate it,
I have always wanted to build and port roms with little... correction no success.

What's the solution for mm's camera bug? I think m8 GPE!

Dev's are sayin' mm's camera libs and frameworks is buggy for m7. So we can't upgrade our phones. But I got an idea. M8 got the mm update (offically) so maybe they can search the cure in m8's GPE ROM. Maybe port ROM works well. I don't know. We are desperate for now..
^it could work indeed.. sense 7 based ROMs that are ported from m9 system dumps work flawlessly; full camera and ir blaster support. But as of now there ain't no sense 7 based marshmallow Roms; only 5.0.2. Let's hope someone does port a sense 7 based MM rom soon.

Chances are little to none sadly. Our beloved M7 came to the end of its life it seems. Development is rapidly decreasing, so I wouldn't hold my breath for MM Sense ROM. We can hope, but I seriously doubt it will come ?

Guys, maybe they won't port mm sense rom but there's a hope about mm GPE rom.. I hope they will port it. We can flash sense apps, we can use other thinks but it should be mm..
^Yep.. as should be expected for a 3 year old phone. But there are 5 year old devices (like the galaxy w i8150) that got 5.1.1 and even 6.0.1 based custom roms. while the m7 might not be so lucky, porting a sense 7 based MM rom should be easier than building on a less compatible cm13 source.

Can any dev biuld AOSP 7.0 Rom?

Hi,
I know there are 7.0 or even 7.1 Roms for Thea but I'm looking for the simplest one without any super features cuz i don't need them. For Titan ther is these Rom https://forum.xda-developers.com/mo.../rom-aosp-oms-substratum-moto-g-2014-t3470909 simple and stable. There are even sources and the dev will help to build it for sure - he don't want to build it because he has no testing device. So here is my question:
Is there some dev willing to build the simples and standard Rom for Thea? I thought every Android development should start and be based on AOSP rom...
