I have the T-Mobile branded version of the Note 5, and the lock screen will often display the message above. The fingerprint sensor will work occasionally, but more often than not, I'm forced to use the pin to unlock the phone. This phone is KNOX tripped, but the firmware is stock across the board, and I haven't been able to find any solution to this problem. Any suggestions other than returning the phone would be appreciated.

I have a T-Mobile S6 but flashed Cleanrom for ATT. I noticed that while using the fingerprint unlock method the screen will still require swipe to unlock. In other words, I have my phone set to lock 3 minutes after the screen turns off. Normally if I turned the phone back on before the phone actually locked it would just pick up where I left off but now with the ATT rom it will ask me to swipe to unlock when I turn the screen back on before the phone actually locks. Is there any way to remove this?
That's pretty weird. My AT&T phone doesn't do that.
Did you get anywhere with resolving this? I'm running stock AT&T, not rooted, and annoyed that I unlock with fingerprint and need to also, subsequently swipe.
I found the solution to what may be the same issue you're having - though I am running the stock T-Mobile rom.
You need to turn off all the smart unlock features - trusted locations, devices, etc. For some reason, with those enabled, unlocking (often, but not always?) requires a swipe and fingerprint - but without them it works as you would want/expect.
I think this may be an attempt to give us a lock screen when the device stays unlocked, but if you unlock it with the fingerprint when it is already unlocked, it doesn't bother to even try reading your print, so it misses that you did something that couldn't be in your pocket. Very annoying.
Hi, maybe I'm screwed, but anyway I will ask...
I have a Note 5 protected with fingerprints and obviously with a PIN.
My screen failed, imagine that you divide the screen in 7 parts horizontally, lanes 2 and 3 from the bottom does not respond.
My device rebooted and as I have to unlock it with the PIN after restart, I'm unable to do that because 3 of the digits are in the part of the screen that doesnt work.
I decided not to repaird the screen, I bought an S8, but I need the pictures stored in the note 5. I'm been unable to get them, because for the methods I know, the device must be unlocked.
Any thoghts??
Thanks! I was able to unlock it using the stylus...
Hi, there might be some problem with my note 8.
I activate the instant unlock without swiping the lock screen for the iris recognition unlock.
the problem is something the iris camera will not shows up on the screen after i swipe up to check on the position of my eyes. it said 'if this keeps happening, please restart your phone'.
I wondering anything cause the iris camera not to appear on the screen.
The iris scanner still works well on capture my irises to unlock the phone, it is just that the iris camera do not appears on the screen (the one with the two circle to position your eyes).

Try factory resetting the device and check if the issue is still there. If yes, take the device to the samsung store for replacement. Mine works flawlessly. Much better than S8+ actually.

Tried factory reset it... still the same.
The iris scanner have no problem unlocking my phone, it is just that the iris camera with the two circles does not appear on the screen when iris scanner activated.
Hello,
Has anyone else come across the following with the P20 Pro (mine is a CLT-L09 on firmware 8.1.0.131(C782) - but the issue has occurred on all firmware versions I've had to date).
Occasionally when I unlock the handset via the fingerprint sensor, the camera launches rather than the handset just going to the home screen.
Currently I have the face unlock, lift to wake and the fingerprint unlock turned on. However, I have tried turning off the face unlock and the lift to wake - but the same thing still happens.
I'd say it probably happens about once in every ten unlocks.
I don't know whether I'm accidentally pressing something which is causing it - the camera icon is in the bottom right corner, so I'm not catching that as I unlock with the fingerprint sensor.
Any ideas please?
(I moved from a P10 Plus and never had this issue with that handset).
Thanks in advance.
I just factory reset my P10 on the newest pie version and noticed a concerning thing. When I enrolled just one finger print ex thumb then tried to unlock with any of my other fingers I world get a vibration of failure but if I kept on doing it quickly I could get access to my phone. I did get my wife to try the same method and she was unable to unlock phone. I tried the identify finger print in the setup menu and it identifies it correctly and will not see a non enrolled fingerprint as one that's enrolled. This is a somewhat concerning thing to me. Just wondering if others have had the same experience.
If it unlocks to you but not to your wife (same phone?), don't you maybe have your face registered for Face unlock - so it recognizes your face (not finger) and unlocks
Also, check Smart (un)Lock settings, it maybe unlocks based on trusted BT devices (or trusted places)
Good call. I guess tapping the finger sensor that many times wakes the device but not screen. I had to turn the screen almost sideways to make sure face unlock didn't see me tested then all worked correctly.
