See my mobile on screen - Android Auto General

I have in my car :
Kenwood DNX8 160DABS
Kenwood - KCA-WL100 WiFi adapter
Samsung Galaxu S7 Edge
How I have the opportunity to view my mobile on the Kenwood screen and at the same time will be able to operate/use the phone directly on the screen and not on the phone screen.
When I use the "Screen Mirror" I can only see my phone on the Kenwood screen, but not operate it and the function is not very useful when Istill must use the phone directly

[Android 7.0+] AppRadio Unchained Rootless

AppRadio Unchained Rootless allows full mirroring of your phone from your AppRadio. This means that any app can be controlled from the head unit screen and not just a few that are specially adapted.
AppRadio Unchained Rootless is available from the Play store here: AppRadio Unchained Rootless
The user's manual is available here: User's manual
For this app to work Android 7 or higher is required. As Android 7 only allows to inject complete gestures, a gesture has to be completed first on the head unit before it will be dispatched to the phone. It works similar to record and playback. Suppose you need to do a long press of 2 seconds, first press for 2 seconds, once you lift your finger it will be dispatched and replicated on the phone where it will take 2 seconds as well. It's recommended to only do things that take a short time so there won't be too much delay.
Important
The 'Smartphone setup' on the head unit needs to be set correctly for Android as by default it's configured for Iphone. Go to Settings->System->Input/Output Settings->SmartphoneSetup and set Device to 'Others' and Connection to 'HDMI'. See this video: Smartphone setup
Any other AppRadio related app needs to be uninstalled as this blocks the connection to AppRadio Unchained Rootless.
AppRadio mode requires that your device is connected to the HDMI input of the head unit. Depending on the device this can be done with a MHL / Slimport / Miracast / Chromecast adapter. This app supports automatic connection to wireless screencasting devices. Since Google API doesn't support this directly it is done via the phone's GUI. Note that only the phone's built-in screencasting capabilities can be used.
Because this app may not work for your setup there's an extended trial period of 48 hours. In order to claim this simply request a refund within 48 hours after purchase by emailing the order number to the support email address.
Supported head units: any AppRadio that supports Android AppMode via HDMI.
For example: SPH-DA100, SPH-DA110, SPH-DA210, SPH-DA120, AVH-X8500BHS, AVH-4000NEX, AVH-4100NEX, AVH-4200NEX, AVIC-X850BT, AVIC-X950BH, AVIC-Z150BH, AVIC-6000NEX, AVIC-6100NEX, AVIC-6200NEX, AVIC-7000NEX, AVIC-7100NEX, AVIC-7200NEX, AVIC-8000NEX, AVIC-8100NEX, AVIC-8200NEX
Units that have AppRadio mode via USB (a.k.a. AppRadio One) are not supported.
Android 7 Bluetooth bug
If during connection 'Accept thread error' is displayed this is not because of a bug in the app but due to a bug in Android 7.
It can be fixed by disabling BT background scanning: Go to Settings -> Location, in top right menu click Scanning -> Bluetooth Scanning.
The following features are supported:
- Multitouch
- AppRadio buttons
- GPS data transfer via mock locations (only works with head units that have a GPS receiver)
- Wake lock
- Rotation locker (to put any app in landscape mode)
- Real calibration
- Start on HDMI detection (for use with phones and HDMI adapters)
- Notifications to indicate connection state
- Diagnostics
- Automatic Bluetooth toggle for improved connection
Beta test version
The beta test version has the latest features but can also contain bugs.
You need to become a tester of the AppRadio Unchained Rootless app to be able to get it.

Does this version also requires the phone rooted. I'm on a mate 9 pro with Android 7?

The S8 was confirmed working, the AVH-8500BHS is supported. Only thing I am not sure about is the Samsung wireless dongle but if it doesn't work a recent Miracast like the Actiontec Screenbeam mini 2 or the Microsoft wireless adapter V2 should do the trick.
For the S8 there's also a wired option. Somebody is using this and it says works well:

It can charge the phone.
Just got it up and running on mate 9 pro. Works perfectly with Microsoft wireless adapter the only problem is the size of the screen. It doesn't show the screen I landscape as it should only partially. Any thoughts on this or is it a new launcher I need for my phone? If that's the case which one should I get?

I have a Pioneer AVH-X2650BT and Moto Z phone.
Do I need any additional hardware for this to work?
Also is this app compatible with AVH-X2650 BT?

The video is via the HDMI input of the head unit and touch goes back via Bluetooth. The S7 doesn't support MHL so a wired connection isn't possible. What works is to cast the screen via a Miracast adapter like the Screenbeam Mini 2 or the Microsoft wireless adapter V2.
I am using my S8+ with rockscout and it is working pretty good. It is a little lagged and the screen is in portrait mode as opposed to landscape. What more will this app do. I am willing to buy it but I just want to know what make this better. I am just using a USB-c cable plugged into the back of the Appradio 4 so that might be a limitation at the moment.

I just loaded Appradio Unchained Rootless on my Verizon S8. I'm using the free Nova launcher. I have a Pioneer 4100 NEX, using the cables and HDMI converter that was recommended in another appradio thread (Towabo USB3.1 Type-C to HDMI adapter). The firmware in the Pioneer was just updated to 1.09. The 4100 is installed in a 2012 jeep JK using a PAC canbus adapter and a micro bypass.
Now appradio seems to work, set the input to other-HDMI and then expanded the screen to fit. I can control the phone from the radio BUT everytime I change to appradio, I lose sound from whatever I was using, be it Sirius, HD radio or the SD card. I have a friend that has the same setup but he's on a Dodge RAM and not on a canbus link. He had audio and can then bring up appradio and keeps his selected audio playing.
From the radio end, we are the same firmware, same HDMI adapter, same cables and feeding the adapter from a 2A+ dedicated USB-C cable. The only difference is he has the paid version of Nova Launcher and I have the free version.
I figure it's something I missed. Anyone have any suggestions?

Help please for new poster re: Android Auto connection problems

Hi everyone and sorry if my first post has been covered before, but I couldn't find a post that exactly replicated mine.
I have a Kenwood Head unit, model number DMX8020DABS which is Android Auto compatible. My phone is a Samsung A20e running Android 10.
I cannot for the life of me connect my phone to the head unit either by usb cable or wirelessly.
I have had a friends phone iphone connected to the carplay on the unit and also a Samsung Galaxy S10 also, both connected wirelessly as soon as the bluetooth connection was made. This leads me to think my phone is not compatible. I have read about various compatible phones connecting wirelessly and can't see mine in a list anywhere, but I have also read any Android phone with Android 10 should be able to connect via usb cable.
I obviously have the Android Auto app built in to the Android 10 software, one question is do I need to download the Android Auto for phone screens app also?
When I plug my phone into the usb connection to the head unit the phone acknowledges it and the Android Auto app comes up and says follow instructions on car screen, but when you press Android Auto on the kenwood unit the wheel just keeps spinning and it says 'processing' and nothing happens. I have tried resetting the unit, uninstalling/re-installing the AA app, restarting the phone, everything.
Am I missing some settings, not set properly? One thing I noticed in the phone, when you connect the phone and pull down the drop down menu on the phone if you tap on the usb connection settings a screen comes up usb controlled by connected device or this phone, it is set to this phone, and one of the options is Transferring files / Android Auto with a button next to it, when I try to activate that button it won't check it just goes off, even though this is preset in the settings>developer options>networking>default usb configuration where the button is checked.
I have been trying for days to get this to connect. As an aside, my bluetooth connection is fine the unit can make calls and play spotify from my phone, it's just Android Auto that's not working.
Do I need a to get a new phone? Any ideas or advice would be welcomed. Thanks for reading.

Blank screen when starting up Android Auto

I have wireless connected aftermarket Android Auto (IDCORE on a 2015 RRS), connected with my Galaxy s10 (android 10,stock, unrooted).
System works fine, but once in the while when firing up the system (starting engine) instead of the Android Auto start logo I got a blank screen. Putting the phone to airplane mode and taking it out again solves the issue, so I assume it has something to do with 'handshake' between car AA and my mobile - but I cannot find the culprit causing this glitch.
Anybody with similar experience, help how to solve it? My suspection is double BT connection, as car connects BT (for handsfree calling) and IDCORE also connects BT to set up wireless AA. When connected with USB wire, never seen this problem - but, of course, point of having AA is cutting wires in the car (mobile sits on a wireless charging pad when in the car)..

Android Audio Bluetooth trackpad

Is it possible to add a trackpad to android auto via Bluetooth from the paired phone? My touch screen isn't the best and having physical arrow buttons or a trackpad would be very beneficial.

Clarify for me, are you talking about the touchscreen on your head unit running android auto or are you talking about AA on your phone screen. If on the head unit, I don't think so unless it has an input for external control. The car bluetooth implementations are generally nerfed to only support phone integration.

Correct, controls on my headunit touch screen. My steering wheel only has volume and next/prev track and pickup/handup ability. I want where I can used a Bluetooth trackpad to navigate my android auto.
No, I don't think that is possible. Any controller you connect to the phone will only control what is on the phone screen, not the head unit. I don't know how you would get a controller recognized by a factory HU.

Android auto wireless doesn't connect to my phone automatically

Just got an android auto system retrofitted for my jaguar Xf.
My android auto works fine with wired and wireless connections. But every time I get into the car, my phone doesn't automatically connect to the car. It displays a screen showing my phone device name. I have to select this and then it starts connecting to the phone. Is I skip this, I end up with a black screen with no way to get out of it. I need to stop the car, wait for the it to go completely to stand by and then I get prompted to select the phone again.
I only have 1 phone added. Shouldn't it be automatically connected?
I have a Samsung galaxy S21 FE. The android auto unit is Joyeauto. I believe it may be the same hardware as ID Core.
