Hi everyone.
My name is Adam, it's my first post here, but I'm already long time with you guys.
At the beginning i would apologise for my probably bad English. But I'm already desperate to write her and ask for help.
I'm definitely not newbie. But not a "geek" of course, but doesn't scared me rooting, img flashing, adb and fastboot command's etc. I've played already with old good Xperia X10, later with HTC Desire HD long time ago. This is also my third Nexus. First was N4, then N5 and now shamu.
But...
My N6 is also quite close to "meet the wall or floor"...
So, the problem is, my Nexus randomly, suddenly turned off. Without any warning. There is no rules. Sometimes one, two times per day, other time I'm turn them on, and after a while phone go's off again. Mostly happened that when network signal strength go's lower, but not always. Sometimes it's happening with max signal strength. Just like i says, no rules. I have tried everything. Flashing stock image -the same situation. Custom ROMs -nothing changed... Cyanogen Mods 13,14, different kernels tons of radios and bootloader's -really doesn't matter. Still the same.
Around year ago battery was changed. Using now not original, but also not some "cheaper no name" battery, without any issues. Doesn't look like that are on some way connected, but probably should i mention that.
Attached Logcat log (splitted because of size restrictions), dmesg log and some SysFS dump log created with Kernel Adiutor app.
Maybe those can help and explain something.
Please help... I love my phone much... we have explored together hundreds or thousends of builds and mods, but so far I'm really close to say goodbye to my old good friend Nexus.
Greetings and thanks in advance

The logcat Has thousands of errors and many of the errors are rom related but there is also a few battery related
11-09 22:17:16.458 20299 20335 E BatteryStatsService: power: Missing API
This I bet is where it is causing an issue.
As for the battery I wouldnt trust anything but an official replacement. I know that might not be an option really but unless it is official replacement then I wouldnt use it.
Could be true, issue attempt first time after I've changed battery, but quite long time was perfect. No such of issue. Is there some way to prove if those error are guilty?
Thanks for your respond.

Sorry, network laggy.

The only way to tell is run completely stock. And then go from there. Any errors that come up will have to be fixed one by one until you find the issue.
Or put back the old battery temporarily to see if it works?

That's not gonna happen, i throw them away long time ago...
Wiping completely with media and flashing stock image seems to be the most reasonable steps so far.
I will be back here already on stock rom and fresh Logcat soon.
Thanks and Greetings.

Hello again.
My nexus are back to stock. All partitions wiped, Official Google Android Nougat image was flashed. After newest TWRP image was flashed, and phone was rooted. New logcat log atatched.

Hello!
I'm gonna buy a new phone, but idk when. I think I'm gonna buy the LG O2X, though after reading all the problems with it, I'm not sure.
I have heard troubles like:
Shuts down and reboot randomly.
Shows wrong battery percent left.
WiFi stops to work when you turn it on after sleep.
I also heard about 2 people who had their LG out in the sun, when it was like 20-25 degrees and it started to reboot every 2 minute.
If the phone didn't have all these problems, I would definitely get it. But that's apparently not the case.
Damn, this is driving me crazy, I can't decide whether I should get it or not. Please help me.
All the things you've listed are software, the first CM7 nightly is currently building. That said I've not had mine's been mostly fine. No wifi issues, only had odd battery behavior when trying new kernels. Have had a couple of overnight reboots, but not for about 5 days.

I know that the problems I listed is problems with the SW, and can be solved. But the problem about their phone did reboots every 2 minute when they had it outside in the sun. Is the problem I most worry about, since it doesn't sounds like problems with the SW.
I'm not gonna change ROM or something. Since I don't wanna loose my warranty.
And LG doesn't seems to solve problems that quickly, correct me if I'm wrong.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=997705, I read a few pages there, so many seems to have trouble with it. So I really don't know what I should do.
Every 2 minutes? Weird lol. My o2x was right next to me while I was lying in the sun all the time during the easter holidays. No such probs here, actually none of the probs you mentioned. If you get one with constant freezing you can always get an exchange, you know

Any software changes you make can be reversed easily enough for warranty purposes.

Alright, that's good. But having to change ROM, to get a good working phone doesn't seems right.
How is the phone at browsing? I've heard that the text isn't best on O2X.

you can go stock and all is fine.- do not read all those reviews..about rebootings, lags..
I had stock for couple of days and it was very smooth, all fine, no lags, no reboots, then MoDaCo and even this was great.

Sounds like your friends' phones could have errant processes running in the background and the extra heat from the sun could have pushed the phones into instability.
Ask them to install "Watchdog Task Manager Lite" to monitor the processes running on their phones. If they can track down which app processes are the culprits, they should try to delete or modify the app settings to quieten down their errant behaviours. This should help with the "every 2 mins in sun reboot" issue.

I read about this problem in a forum. But thanks for the "Watchdog Task Manager Lite" tip, I guess it could be handy when I get a android phone. If it will be LG O2X, we'll see.
If you are a non-hacker type person, and just want to use the phone straight out of the box, it might be prudent to avoid most, if not all, of the dual-core phones for now. I think the designers and programmers are still trying to iron out the kinks with the new dual-core phones. IMHO, a fast single-core Android phone might probably be a more fuss-free phone straight out of the box than dual-cores currently.

Well, I don't change phone that often, so I wanna have future proof phone that isn't too expensive. And I believe this is that phone.
I'm pretty sure I can root it and change rom. But... I'm too afraid I might mess it up.
In forums like these you will mostly read about the issues that some are having, because people tend to seek out these forums when they disover isues - the wast majority may not have any issues and dont post in forums like these. So regardless of which device you get, you will allways find alot of forum posts dealing with whatever bugs some users are facing. The number of issues and error posts for the LG isnt really that big, nothing out of the ordinary, and nothing you wont see just as many or more for ANY other device out there - single core or dual core.
Basically dont get scared off by these but only use it as a guide to perhaps seek for specific bugs which you would not be able to live with untill they get fixed by the manufacturer.
I have 2 LG optimus - one for myself and one for my teenager son
Both bought on the same day 6 weeks ago.
Mine has run completely stable and "errorfree" since day one - not a single random shutdown or lockup bsod - no issues with wifi, 3g or anything - has worked with every single app I tried, no batterydrain (easily get 2 days worth) etc. etc.
They are running completely stock with the only change being a different laucher (GO launcher) to solve the micro stutter in swyping between homescreens which the standard LG launcher has (just a very minor software issue).
The only issues I have left are 2 known issues - which for certain will be solved by some new LG update. One is the lag that happens while installing a new app from market - the other is the memory management which isnt completely optimised causing free memory to sometimes run a litle lower than wanted.
If you arent unlucky and get hit by the random shutdowns and bsod that some users are facing - then you do get a very nice future proof phone that isnt too expensive, and does most things pretty good allready - and will only get better as updates arrives
Imho, rooting and new roms arent really needed, allthough a nice possibility for those that like to tinker and tuning their devices as much as possible - but even without doing so, you will get a nice phone.
I'm planning to get one too so I just started to visit O2X threads. Currently on Motorola Milestone, but I'm sick of it's low RAM. Every new game is force closing. I'll wait for it to get cheaper in my country .

You're probably right. I've read alot of threads. It's so weird, some have many problems with the phone and some have not. I really don't wanna have problems with reboots and wifi.
I'm still not sure if I should get it or not. I don't really see any other future proof alternatives in the same price range. The SGS2 is too expensive.
This is definitely not easy, maybe I should wait and see if they fix all problems. But IDK which phone I should get instead.

I've seen some reviews of SGS2 and it seems laggier than O2X. First I noticed that in Shrek Kart video (I've seen SGS2, than compared to O2X), after that it seemed that SGS2's launcher is laggy too -.-' ... maybe I just watched fake/bad reviews ^^.
Well i had phone for around 2 weeks and have not had any of the reboot issues as for batt draining if u ture of back ground data then this reduces it massivly, the handset is on of the best around. As for LG not doing update to solve problems i think that is unfair they do seem to be listerning with in a few days of me gettting hand set went from 10b to 10d. So i would say that if you want future proof device then this is the one and if you want game then its a no brainer

Alright. I think I'll get the O2X then. Though, I'm not gonna get it before they fixed these problems.
I read in a review that the OS takes about 300 mb ram.

So I have about 200 mb free for my apps. That doesn't sound much, but maybe it's enough? Well, this is going to be my first smartphone, so I don't really know how much RAM app takes.

I'm sorry if this is a noob question, but even the omniscient Google failed to give me a satisfactory answer to my dilemma.
I've waited, prayed and even made some ritual sacrifices to the Gods of the mountains under the sea to make Samsung update the I9000 to Gingerbread. And all that for this one feature: to use integrated SIP calling.
But when I updated to Gingerbread this morning and looked in the "Call Settings" menu, I couldn't find the "Internet Calling" option. With a sinking feeling that the mountain Gods have failed me, I decided to turn to the Tech Wizards of the xda-developers for help.
I saw in a few sites that it is possible to enable the option, but I couldn't understand anything as i'm a total noob in these matters. My phone's details:
Model: Samsung Galaxy S GT-I9000.
Firmware version: 2.3.3
Baseband version: I9000DDJV4.
Kernel Version: 2.6.35.7-I9000DDJV6-CL198883
Build Number: GINGERBREAD.DDJV6
Please help me out here. I'm desperate to the point of doing something crazy, like getting a Nokia.

lol That's TOO crazy! Personally, I never used SIP or Internet calls. But if it's that important to you, you can try flashing CM7 on your phone. It has this feature implemented extensively in the settings. Besides, you won't come back from CM7. Everything else is pretty much inferior!
Or find another rom like XWJVH or XWJVO they have all the stuff

Okay, but is CM7 stable? I read that some features are not working properly. Anyway, i'll try it out.
I felt that using inbuilt SIP instead of Skype or Fring would lessen battery usage. I also liked the idea of dialling from the dialler and video calls over IP.

Wont that change the product code? That happened to me when I flashed a froyo leaked ROM. My phone had the product code as "KOR" instead of "INU".
And thanks for your replies, guys. I had almost given up hope.
I looked into CM7 and some of the bugs are a bit scary. Esp, the issue with the phone unable to charge when it is powered off. I routinely run the risk of a fully drained battery, even with daily charging. Besides, the gingerbread update has speeded up the phone considerably. So, I'm quite happy with it, except for the SIP thing. I'll have to consider it more before I make the jump.

That is not a bug, just operating according to CM7 spec. When you plug in the charger, the phone boots up. You can then turn the screen off and go to Airplane mode if you wish it to charge more quickly. No big deal.
As for the rest, there are very few standing issues left with CM7, and those tend to only occur on a case by case basis. However, it is an acquired taste, and rewards people who enjoy tinkering and learning about their phone and Android. Since it is so easy now to install CM7 and then return to Samsung ROMs if you need to, it makes sense to try it out and see how you like it.

I didn't know it boots up completely, even in the case of a low battery. Some person said that as soon as it powers on, it finds out that the battery is low and hence powers off again. It keeps going on through it cycle and hence never powers up.
Still i'll look into it. Thanks.

Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA Premium App
After a 21-hour marathon session of flashing and re-flashing Eclair, Froyo, Gingerbread and CM7 on my phone, I finally managed to get CM7 working. After using it for a couple of days, I haven't found anything useful to justify the effort. Though the fact that devs are going into so much pains to develop this ROM is astounding. So I finally bought ROM Manager premium this morning to support the movement. Also I am planning to stick with CM7 for the predictable future. BTW, your guide for installing CM7 is amazing, rschenck. Thanks a lot.
As for the SIP feature, I tried it and found the results to be under-whelming. Quality is poor and implementation is half baked. I found Skype to be better. Also all my contacts are on Skype and none are using SIP. Finally battery drain was much higher than using Skype. Hence i'm not returning to SIP anytime soon. I feel Skype or Fring is better suited for my purposes.
Thanks for all your help, guys. And also thanks for introducing me to CM7.
Hi. I'm very new to xda and unsure how it all works, so please excuse me if my 1st post isn't written with the proper terminology! Ok. So, here's my issue. I, have the Samsung Galaxy Exhibit 4g. It, was rooted with cwm, running on jellybean 4.1.2. Recently, I was installing a new rom, from Slim. I, found it on xda. I, believe it's called Black Out. I, was doing a backup, while, in cwm recovery mode, and I happened to fall asleep in the middle of the backup. I, woke up an hr or so later, only to discover my phone completely turned off and wouldn't turn back on! I, had a full battery. I, have tried on numerous occassions to leave the battery out for several hrs and replace it, but still nothing! I've used different chargers and still nothing. Not, even a light blinks! The only thing, I haven't tried is replacing the battery. The phone is only 3-4mo old, so I didn't think it would be the battery. I've never seen this happen before! The ROM, didn't even get installed! I've searched high and low about my problem, and haven't come across not 1 solution! Could, this just be a case of a bad battery, or of a bigger issue?? I'm still under waranty but of course already being rooted, and having no way to get into my phone to unroot, I've voided that! PLEASE, if anyone can help with some support I'd GRATELY appreciate it! Anything, that can help save me $, would be wonderful! Thank you!

Sounds like you may have installed a rom for a different phone as I have not heard of a slim blackout rom. I am sorry to say you probably bricked your device. If it doesn't even power on them you have no way of getting into Odin mode.

If you didn't install a ROM and just did a backup your batt is prob just dead try leaving it charged for a few hours. Doing a backup won't brick your phone

Yeah if its a backup then you can't brick your phone doing it. Sounded to me like you were installing a rom when it happened though?
If you want to see if its the battery, go to batteries plus, they will let you try the battery to make sure that is the problem

Thank you!

If you didn't install the ROM try another battery try getting the premium battrey got one 2 wks ago and works good even has a chip in it that prevents the battery from over heating Which probley happened in your situation.

Hi. I'm very new to xdaand unsure how it all works, so please excuse me if my 1st post isn't written with the proper terminology! Sounds like you may have installed a rom for a different phone as I have not heard of a slim blackout rom. I am sorry to say you probably bricked your device. If it doesn't even power on them you have no way of getting into Odin mode.

Yes, I did notice it wasn't the correct rom for my device afterwards But I never got the chance to install the rom. It was on my sd card but never updated. I was in the middle of backing up my phone, on a full battery before it just went dead! I'm going to try a new battery and see if that was the problem. I hope so! Thank you for your advice!
Had a n6 with half purple screen and had it exchanged.
This new one is horrible ..
It seems to get really warm compared to the other and when it does, boy does it lag. Just typing this out, it's lagging.
I also noticed that my Bluetooth has "silence" spots while listening to music. Every 2-3 minutes, it will stop for a split second like it can't buffer, even if the music is on the device.
Another thing that may just be me, it seems the keyboard doesn't predict as well, like it's not even touching the keys I'm swiping.
Lastly, half the screen is white and half is a really yellow color. Very irritated by this device. Makes me want to throw it against a wall.
Your first problem can be resolved by using a custom kernel that does not use mpdecision. Mpdecision is known to be power inefficient and sends your CPU to be sitting in wasteful frequencies causing your phone to generate additional heat. My phone became really warm with mpdecision on.
Secondly, I don't use bluetooth so I can't comment.
Third. That isn't a N6 problem, its a problem with the software of the keyboard application that you're using. SwiftKey works great for me.
Fourth, can't really comment on that. My screen looks good, your phone should be uniformly the same color, you can try changing RGB and see if it would do anything. I recommend turning off adaptive brightness.
Good suggestions I suppose.
Only problem with those, I'm not gonna root or use a custom kernel. The last n6 only had a faulty screen and no other problems. That one didn't need any custom root activities.

If you don't root, or use ROM's then why post about it on a developer forum? I'm not trying to be rude just wondering why here. If it has more issue call moto and have them send a new one. My RMA phone is fine 0 issues so far and I'm happy with it.
This is a user forum as well as a developer forum.
I'm posting here to show there is problems with these phones.
Why does it matter to you?
If you are having those problems on stock, and don't want to root/etc, then your only option is to return it again. Pretty simple.
If you are looking for confirmation that your experience isn't 'normal' on the stock phone, I can confirm it is not.

I'm not trying to argue at all I was just curious. I would have the phone replaced if you want to gave those issues fixed without modifying the phone. Best of luck with the issues because it's not fun when you can't fix them.

I scratch my head also. XDA is a developer's forum. There are tons of other sites more suitable to those not wanting to root/ROM it up.
Sounds good. Let's discuss dbrand skins and the such.
I doubt this has anything to do with memory leaks or anything that's been discussed on lollipop.
I'd say you have a faulty SOC and I would replace it. My wife had similar issues on an S5 where it would stutter and fall behind almost and get warm. The icing on the cake was while taking video, normal 1080p video, and it would drop frames like crazy. Maybe 22fps or so was al, it was getting.
I actually agree with 20degrees on this one... There are tons of non development/customization threads on here, and XDA has a pretty knowledgeable user base so it is a convenient one stop shop for info.
People just need to ignore/keep their comments to themselves in the Q&A and general sections if they have nothing constructive to add to the topic of the thread.
So i rooted my new nexus 6 and installed chroma rom. every thing was fine till i noticed a small part of the screen flicker. it was like a black line coming and going as soon as i took it off charging it was fine. this was after i installed the rom there was nothing like this on the stock one. also when i open the camera app i can hear a small click/ crackle sound. this happened in the stock rom too but with the snapchat app. its irritating and i cant find a fix anywhere. and lastly whats with the network issue? it suddenly comes and goes. i checked it and it showe 0dbm and 99 asu?is this common? tried to find a fix but all i got was lots of unanswered threads. as being a student who need to use this phone for a long time can anyone tell me if all this is fixable ? or do i need to get a replacement as im still in my 30 day return period. thanks in advance and sorry if all this issues are already in a post and have fixes just post me the link as i could find it
being a student who needs the use of the phone for long periods of time.. what are you foing moddifying your device. no custom rom will be bug free. even though whtyever bugs dont bother me, they seem to bug you. why dont you just stay stock with root if those issues are bugging you.
