Question about stock preapplied screen protectors - OnePlus 3 Accessories

Hello. I have a question about the stock screen protector that comes on the recently sold Gold Oneplus 3's. I have bought the graphite version and the stock screen protector covers the full display part of the screen. But in pictures and videos I see of the Gold one the preapplied screen protector doesnt cover the whole display part of the front and has about 1-2mm of space not covered. Is the preapplied screen protector on the new Graphite one different than the one that is on the Gold Version? Or did they update it for recently shipped ones? Thanks

When did you buy the graphite version?
I received my graphite version in September and the screen protector doesn't cover the entire screen. The curved edges are not covered.

In late October and early November. All had manufactured dates in October 16. So they must have been updated very recently.

Yes. Ive seen 2 dated 10-29 and 10-30 that had the revised wider one. I was hoping to find out from others that have the wider one what their manufacture date is on the back of the box?

[Q] Tempered glass screen protector?

I know that the phone is fairly new, but does anyone know of available tempered glass screen protectors for the Droid Turbo other than the Verizon brand? Is there an ETA for anything so far? I usually just order through Amazon, but haven't seen anything that was noteworthy yet.

There are some difficulties in making a glass screen protector for the turbo's screen because of the curved glass edges. The issue is that the screen protector naturally wants to pull away to a flat like state. Because of this, you see very few companies offer tempered glass protectors for devices with the curved glass edges, and most people report a poor experience with them, as the edges release from the glass, thus making it easy for the screen protector to get pulled off.
A few solutions that have been tried are the company making the protector a bit smaller than the screen, to avoid the curved edge, but then you don't get full coverage, and have a sharp / noticeable edge from the screen protector. The other solution is to make it thinner / more pliable, but that raises its own issues (cost, loss of protective qualities).
I know Zagg is working hard on developing a tempered glass screen protector that will work with the curved glass screens, thanks to the iPhone 6 plus having this type of screen, but it could be awhile before they release it, let alone it trickles down to other devices. Once they figure it out, though, it should spread to other protectors (given most off brand protectors are made by one of the Chinese manufacturers of Zagg, just rebranding them, and likely lowering quality control a bit).
Okay, so I found 2 new entries on Amazon for the glass protectors. One is the Casebase brand and the other is the Orzly brand. The Casebase comes with 2 protectors and seems to have a better fit for the front-facing camera. I would post the links, but I'm a newbie so I can't yet. Lmk what you guys think about them.
Verizon has the tempered glass in their stores, I bought mine when I received the phone 2-3 days into the launch!

Looks like these are the thicker 9h ones with rounded edges too and the prices are rather cheap. I going to give it a few weeks until the crappy verizon tempered glass starts lifting then give one of these a shot. Thanks for posting!

I used a 85% off today. I can't remember what exactly it was but I just did a google search for coupon code.
I'm going to go ahead and try out the Xtremeguard Spartan tempered glass screen protector. I wish there was a 90% off coupon, but I settled with the 80% since I've been waiting on a decent glass protector for awhile now. I'll let you guys know how it is once I put it on, but I don't know if my opinion would be all that valid since this will be my first glass protector.
The Zagg glass for the iPhone 6, 6 plus, and Note 4 with curved screens are already available and work perfectly. I would say the fact that it isn't currently available for the Turbo has more to do with it being a Verizon exclusive than anything else.

I just looked up the one for the six and six plus. What are they doing that's different from anyone else? Its just smaller then they call it case friendly lol I expected some new technology on the curve I guess. The only solution I've ever seen for tempered glass on a curved screen as they just make it smaller so it doesn't reach the curve.

It isn't really noticeable while just looking at the product, but the Zagg's now have a curvature equal to that of the curve of the screen. The first wave of Zagg Glass panels for the 6, 6+, and Note 4 were all defective. They peeled up at the edges and would never lay down completely flat (I work for Best Buy I install 30-50 of them a week.) The second round of shipments had ironed out whatever kinks were causing the imperfect fit.

I'm confused as to why you would want a screen protector on a Gorilla Glass screen with a free replacement warranty? Is there something I'm missing, or is there something else special about these tempered glass screen protectors?
As for me, I've never broken or even scratched a screen in the last 10 years. Guess I'm lucky.

I used to be one of those people too. I had never cracked a screen in my life because I always take care of my phone, but it all changed when it happened to my HTC One. Accidents happen and I'd rather lose a screen protector than have to use that free screen replacement. I think 10 bucks is a reasonable price to spend to protect a $600-700 phone, especially when i plan on keeping it for the foreseeable future. I still don't completely understand using bulky cases, but that's probably because I baby my phone.
Spartan glass received today - put it on and took it off - the curved glass edges do not stick and looks terrible - asking for refund

I have never carried a screen protector on my phone previously either as I felt the quality was utter **** on them and I won't look at one with bubbles and crap in it.
The tempered glass ones don't peel up or bubble (when they are not defective and are installed correctly.) They are PERFECTLY clear, don't obscure the screen at all, and they feel just like touching the actual screen. I truly consider them to be poor man's insurance.
Gotcha. Thanks

Screen protector?

Just bought this from carphonewarehouse and it appears it comes with a screen protector already installed. Is this the same for everyone?
I can't speak for that particular store but out of the box, Motorola does not include screen protectors so the seller must have opened up the box to apply the screen protector. Unless you're talking about the stock one that every phone gets for delivery purposes

If it has the grey colored tab on the corner, it's the stock protector. It's applied before shipping. I used it for a week until the protector I ordered, came in.

It's not really a screen protector. The whole purpose of that film is to protect the phones screen during shipment. It's not meant to be a permanent screen protector.
I don't remember but I think it's watermarked with nexus on top of it.

Check out the accessories section. There are many OPs about screen protectors both plastic and glass.
Edit: also many people have kept the stock shipping one one for a while without any problems so you could leave it on until you get one if you wanted to.

It's definitely not like an aftermarket screen protector. It'll do in a pinch however. But mine started to look a little scuffed and marked by the 3rd or 4th day.

I normally look at amazon reviews. I am currently using a Casebase LG G3 glass screen protector, looking at amazon reviews in .DE and also .CO.UK this has the highest reviews as well
I am going to email Casebase now and ask them if they are making these for the upcoming LGG4 and if yes i will stick with them. You get 2 glass screen protectors in the pack and one of them is a spare
Hi, i would like to pre-order one, to receive it before the g4. Which one is the best for you?

In regards to which protector would be best; I am not at liberty to make any judgement since I don't yet have the phone nor screen protectors. However, I would agree with the above poster that waiting for amazon reviews to come out is certainly in your best interest. Allow the other people to identify which products do and do not work. You'll save yourself time and money that way.

Sup!
I've got a LG G3 and I ordered a screen protector from Amazon a while ago and it's a really great fit from a company called Casebase! I'm going to probably order another one for my G4. But as the previous comments have suggested you could wait for reviews and such, or you could use your previous experiences to make a purchase before hand, that's what I'm doing!
Hope this helps
Hi Guys here is the reply i got from casebase.com. I have just ordered one from amazon as well.
Hi Jack,
Glad you are very happy with the glass screen protector for the LG G3. I can confirm we have launched the glass screen protector for the LGG4. It is already being sold on amazon and it is a twin pack just like the LGG3 version. Please look out for a video going up on youtube on 14th of May showing our protector on the real device. I can confirm there are no bubbles and it covers the phone edge to edge. I suspect many other brands will not have this covering the phone edge to edge but we have used a 0.18mm korean glass for this model which does the job perfectly fine.
We hope your very happy with your purchase
Kind regards, Casebase

I'm a little hesitant with zagg-- after reading some of the people on other xda forums that have issues with them, and zero customer support, I would consider an enjoyable experience to be a lucky one as well. I've personally never had them because of the high price tag, but I've heard now several stories of how the quality has gone down the tubes in recent time. Again, this could be speculation, or what have you, but from what I've seen, the company is not what it used to be.

I managed to order the phone on saturday and also the casebase twin pack glass screen on saturday from amazon.de (they are showing in stock for the phone today as well which is way before release date) My tracking shows it should be here tomorrow. I will give you my honest opinion of the casebase glass screen protector when i have installed it
Regarding Zagg, they lost the screen protector game ages ago. They are just over priced and a known high street retail ripp of brand.
Companies like casebase, Spigen, Orzly, Luvitt all make good glass screen protectors at a third of the price online.

What's to say that if there was no screen protector that the screen wouldn't have been fine? I haven't used a screen protector since the G1 and never had a screen shatter of crack yet. Even with various drops. Although I could just be lucky. Or it could be a false sense of security the protectors provide?

HI - In my opinion its not a case of false sense of security. Each time i have dropped my phone hard enough and the glass screen has broken im sure if it wasn't for this glass screen protection then the phone screen would of broke. It would of at least chipped it a little bit. Either way for me its not worth the risk. I change my phones once a year and buy them simm free so its not a risk worth taking

My LG G4 and casebase glass screen arrived yesterday. I can confirm the casebase Lg g4 glass screen is a perfect fit and covers all the corners as well. I will upload some pictures and maybe a short video over the weekend
The case i am using is a Orzly Lg g4 fusion case, it offers very solid protection around the sides but also shows of the back of the phone as the case is transparent on the back. All in all my phone looks gorgeous :good::good::good:
So this will be my first phone with a curved screen. I'm assuming that the screen protector will also be curved?

Hm. Seems I would need to buy a new one. Thanks for the video as it's useful! Just gotta find a link for EU people.
From Orzly customer service:
Thank you for your e-mail. I can confirm that whilst it is true that we are due to receive a revised version of our existing Black 2.5D Pro-Fit OnePlus 3 screen protector we still haven't had any stock delivered.
I am hopeful we will receive a delivery within the next couple of weeks. Once these come in all relevant listings will be changed in order to reflect that the 2.5D screen protector has been changed.
I think I may buy one of these... The nillkin H+ Pro is garbage, it has left 2 stripes of air on both edges, and they make the front screen pretty ugly. However, screen visibility, colour reproduction etc is very good.
The important question here is whether it has glue on the middle like the official OnePlus curved TG.

I have asked from them last week and they said that revision isnt just ready yet, about 1-2 weeks and all listings (official site, Ebay, Amazon) will be updated. But we need also remember that there is also 3rd party sellers which may have old stock still. But i'm gonna order from Amazon.co.uk when they have relisted revision version.
I just put one of these protectors on my phone. I gotta say that I'm pretty impressed. Went on easy, no rainbow halo, dots not visible when the screen is on, and it works with my Orzly Grip Pro. I DID have to be a little more careful when I put the case on, but it otherwise was as simple and pain-free as it could be. I'm pretty happy with the results so far.
**edit**
At work, under florescent lights, i see the halo. I also see the dots and I sure as hell see the fingerprints. Still no issues with the edges lifting or anything. Meh, its really no worse than the OEM protector it came with.

Best screenguard for note 9 in India?

I recently upgraded from my aging galaxy s4 to this beast, note 9. However I am not able to find a good quality screen guard either glass or film in India. I got 1 installed from a local shop in my location which is a tempered glass with glue only on the sides. Because it is not sticking fully the touch sensitivity was unusable but it was somewhat fixed by enabling extra touch sensitivity in settings. What is more annoying about it is their is always a line of glue visible on both the sides and because it is not fully glued it quite occasionally makes this click click sounds randomly when touching the screen.
Even those available on Amazon.in haven't got good reviews. Can any note 9 user from India recommend a good screen protector available here?

Water/dust would go in bet^n the glass and the TG when the phone comes into their contact and then other than removing it, no other option remains. It's kind of a "nature" of every TG where adhesive is on the borders and the screen is a curved one.

Except Whitestone dome glass which isn't worth spending so much importing one, NONE exists.
Several thousands I've spent ranging from 150 - 200 to 2000 throughout the years on dry/wet plastic protectors and on rebranded Chinese TGs offline/online to apply on these curved screens and none works flawlessly.
Wise decision is to opt for an insurance or buy the phone when Samsung provides one time screen replacement offer and then apply Spigen Glas. TR nano hydrophobic liquid coating on the screen right outta box to protect the oleophobic coating that actually works and superior to any plastic/wet protector imo. :good:
