Where are you located and which provider are you subscribed to?
http://samfirmware.com will have your stock firmware available. If it isn't obvious, someone here can help identify the right one after learning the above info. Registration is required but it's a free site.
I'm assuming that you know how to use Odin?

Hello...i am having signal problems with my second hand galaxy s -international device..i know it wasn't originally bought from my country..so i was hoping there is a method to find out for which area it was deisgned so i can install a corresponding radio to improve signal... e.g india, korea,us e.t.c ..
thanks in advance!
well it is not like what you think, any rom from any location you flash on your phone it should work well, the best is try to flash a new stock rom on your phone and see what happens, roms including 3 files (pda, phone, csc) with repartition activated is recommended.

Can anyone tell me how I can do a full factory reset which also un-roots my 8.9 3G ?
I have hooked up my tab to KIES but see not such an option in the program
Go here.
Use Odin.
File marked PDA goes in PDA slot, CSC goes in CSC slot.

Managed to revive it by doing the following:
1. Download the stock ROM from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1350500
2. Use Odin to restore to the stock ROM.
3. Restore to any other of your choice ROM.
Hope this helps someone!
**Note: The ROM is from the ORANGE carrier, with lotsa french apps installed.

hi, guys.
I'm having a mini2 with s5600 version. Am I ok to flash s5600D firmware to it?
Are the s5600 and S5600D the same?
and I managed to download the mini2 firmware from Samfirmware.
All I got it is one package S6500D firmware. 6500DLH1_S6500DCHNLH1_S6500DLH1_HOME.tar.md5
JENA_Secure_NonNFC_1109.pit and Odin3 v1.85
when I open Odin3, there is four files need to choose from. How am I supposed to use this one package?
and what's the difference between NFC and NonNFC with pit file?
Thank you for you all.

Please flash according to your model. If you have s6500 > flash s6500 firmware. same as s6500D
firmwares are flashed on the PDA tab.
the language I need is only with S5600D, that's why I decide to flash S5600D into my S5600 phone.
so as you said, one file package choose PDA tab, how about pit file? doesn't need it?
The .pit file is only needed for re-partitioning , which you don't need when flashing a firmware .
You only need the .tar.md5 , which you load as PDA .
BUT
You can't flash S6500D firmware on an S6500 (or vice-versa) . It will fail at the flashing process (it won't brick it , but it won't work anymore either until you flash a proper firmware on it) .
First of all : samsung galaxy mini 2 aka jena is s6500 !
I have one question : On samfirmware there is firmware for my country (Romania) but only for Vodafone and Cosmote (carriers) and i have Romania(Orange). If i flash the one from another carrier will my sim card work ? and if i flash one from Hungary for example (couse its the last version of firmware) will my sim card work and be able to make calls in my country ?
I love threads like this. Where's my popcorn?

RO Orange SGM2 Firmware (note that this is S6500D but I'm pretty sure you have the D one because that's what Orange is selling) - I'm on the same carrier as you and I used this without a problem many times .
And no , nothing bad will happen as long as the firmware has the same baseband . The only differences are the bloatware apps that the carriers add to the firmware .
And "Samsung Galaxy Mini 2" can reffer to S6500 / D / T / L . Each version is for a different region , as Samsung usually does with its devices .
Yes, mine is s6500D. Thank you very much for the firmware and i didn't mention that it can reffer to s6500 D/T/L because it was obvious...

I tried it. like you said, it fail. nothing changed.
My bad , flashing a S6500D firmware on a S6500 will result in a fail and the download will be discarted , and thus nothing will be actually flashed on the device . You're right .
The problem I was talking about appears when you repartition it . I switched them up xD
