Sooooo first, hello everyone !
After a fair bit of research and unsuccessfull attempt (several hours over a few days), i come to you to see if anybody can help me solve my problem.
Here is the main problem : I have just acquired C5503 white version with 32GB of RAM. It is supposed to be LTE and most of the information I can get about the LTE frequencies says that it supports LTE 800/850/900/1800/2100/2600 which is compatible with my carrier (Free mobile in France, 700/1800/2600) . I don't have the 700MHz band but it is not really deployed and I did not have it on my previous phone, which worked well in LTE. And, you guessed it, the phone is NEVER in LTE. I checked all the settings and whatnot also, they are okay. But data works well beside that.
My guess is that I don't have the good baseband version on my phone so here are the questions, knowing that the bootloader on my wperia ZR can NOT be unlocked ( ) :
1/How can I check I have the good baseband version
2/If i don't, is it possible to change it knowing that my bootloader cannot be unlocked (wanted to install cyanogenmod, so i checked) and how ?
Thank you all for reading,
Thomas.
Nevermind
Nevermind I got my answer, not the one i expected. My phone is a xperia A, the japanese version of the Xperia ZR. No wonder LTE don't work in France. The seller of the phone is just stupid.

Hi guys. I am not from Canada/USA and do not plan to go there.
My question is the does the C5306 have a unlockable boot loader?
Please do not answer unless you know this answer.
Please don't look at my post. I translated wrong and can't delete the post. Sorry for that :/
As far as I know the 5306 is not sold in the USA, at least is not that easy. A few months ago I went to a Sony store (located on fashion valley mall) and nobody knew about the SP. It is sold in Mexico but it is carrier branded (Telcel)
(I got a cheap 5303 and i bought It. There is no LTE available on my city and I didn't want a locked bootloader)
Reasons.
You can buy C5306 from Sony apparently (found it on the online store).
I'm proposing if we can't unlock the boot-loader on this model then we may as-well disable flashing in CWM in BoardConfig.mk for CyanogenMod (TARGET_OTA_ASSERT_DEVICE) to stop people from flashing it on a device it won't work on..
Anyway if you've got a C5306 please tell find out the details
Anybody else?
Bought a EK-GC110 off Amazon. Stated as "New, not refurbished" but price was more along the lines of a used / refurbished, so I was OK if it arrived refurbished (it did). However, it's a UAE "model".
Any caveats before I get too attached to it? Obviously there's no warranty regardless, but I don't want a month later to find out some feature won't work because it's a UAE model and I'm in the USA (not even sure what would be a problem, but...)
Thanks
wifi version has identical hardware worldwide.
even if someday you find a feature that doesn't work you could just flash the official rom for the US version, but I think the software is the same everywhere too.

Hey thanks for the reply. So nothing you can think of that may be 'different' - If I recall there's a few extra wifi channels that the rest of the world has that the USA doesn't - that's fine obviously, I just want to make sure there's not say frequencies this UAE version wouldn't have that the US would. Or some encryption or - I don't even know what else but if it's the same, no problem.
Thanks
I have the same camera.
Im looking to restore it back to factory after root but am not sure what firmware to use. Also, it seems i would benefit from using another regions firmware based on what you said. Is that correct?
Hi,
I am a Sony Z3 Compact user in China, I bought this phone from Japan, and using China Unicom as my operator. Last month, I have changed my mobile service plan from 3G to 4G, but if I checked the LTE(prefered)/3G/GSM or LTE/3G, the phone could lost its signal. Does anyone have the same question? It seems that if I flashed my phone to Android 5.0 Lollipop, this question could be solved, but my NFC function could not be used(SO-2G are using the Felica), and I need to use NFC sometimes.
Model number: SO-02G
Android version: 4.4.4
Waiting for reply. It's my first time to post on XDA, so thanks for people who could look this post, problem solved could be very thankful.
HI everybody,
I am french but I currently live in USA. I would love buy the one plus 3t but I am not sure if it will work and I will go back to France. I am very confuse about the bands....
Thank you for you help !!
It will "work" though you will likely be unable to access LTE from most carriers in Europe. Essentially, you'll have a fully functional phone with crippled mobile data (reduced coverage, slower speeds, no VoLTE, etc.).
it must be unlocked, then yes will work
Unlocked phone will work any where in the world.
Took my oneplus 3t to India from America. Used my American sim card and got an Indian sim card as well. Both worked flawlessly, LTE included for Indian sim card. Phone is unlocked will work all over the world.
thank you for your answer, In the one plus' website is impossible to choose the europe version... Do you know where I can find it ?
because i am still confuse couse in this website willmyphonework.net they told me that in 4G LTE network "it may work" :crying:

The US model only supports LTE bands 1/2/4/5/7/8/12/17/30; Its not a true world phone. You'll get voice, text, and 3G data. Now for LTE, band 7 is the only band that some European carriers use so that may work if you are connected via band 7 and is available in that area.
I don't know why Oneplus didn't just include the European models LTE
Thank you for your answer. I m gonna think about if I buy it or not :/
Yeah it is not very commercial to send just the american version...

Talk with one plus online chat , I orderd one when i was in florida, They send me one that does work in belgium. Now i am back in belgium and every thing works fine.I talked with them and they sent me one that was ment for euope.
You should be fine. All French carriers are using LTE band 7 too. You can check here:

You're lucky beacause I talk with them also and they don't want to send me the EU version one. I will not take the risk to buy the american version, I m gonna see an other phone...
Thank you for your help, I think Im not gonna take the risk to buy the US version and after it doesn't work very well in France... They don't want to send me the UE version so I m gonna see an other brand.
Hello everyone ?
Does anyone know of a way to get Wi-Fi calling and VoLTE loaded onto an unlocked, stock, non-rooted, H9436 ?.
PS: I know as a fact that my carrier supports both of them ?
Thank You
Only way is to use Xperifirm to download your regions firmware and flash it.
I know on my previous XZP I had a G8142 dual sim (Hong Kong) and flashed it a G8141 Single Sim (Australia) Firmware without any issues.
Unfortunately Sony Mobile has pulled out of Australia and there no Australian firmware for the XZ3. So I'll never get VoLTE on this phone now.

Did you see any battery life improvement since the second modem is not being used? ?
Is there no risk of bricking it?
It's gonna be horrible having all of my carriers crap on my phone
Maybe you could try using the firmware of another region that has it

XZP battery life became one of the best phones I've had after the last Oreo update. Since Pie it hasn't improved much. I would have the phone synced to my android watch all day. By the time i hit bed, i'd have 35% battery life left.
My current XZ3, would be dead by the time i get home from work, yet its supposed to have a bigger batter 3330mah vs 3230mah.
You dont have to use your specific carriers, just your country. Using the Generic Australian ROM I got VoLTE and VoWiFi working on Vodafone AU network.
At this current time no firmware is able to make VoLTE work on XZ3. Simply cause Sony Sucks now.
Might even sell this phone off or return it, as I've only had it a week.

Yeah battery life on this phone is just horrible
My mom has the XZP but she's stuck on Oreo cause Sony mobile abandoned the region, I'm planning on flashing a different region's firmware on my next trip home.
I thought of my carrier's firmware cause in France (my profile still says Lebanon cause I didn't bother changing, I moved to France a couple of months ago) the only unlocked version they sell is the dual sim one, the one sold by operators is the single sim one but they install their own firmware, and also because on their support website that mentioned that the xz3 that they sell is compatible with VoWiFi and VoLTE.
If you return it what would you get?

Well I haven't returned it, cause I still don't have my XZP back from warranty repairs. Appears Sony is abandoning alot of regions. Though they are still releasing updates for those phones which is a good thing.
I love Sony Xperia phones, by far the best quality handsets in terms of workmanship, etc. But how they go about their software implementations has a lot to desire.
Hoping one day Sony deploys Carrier integrations like alot of the smaller manufacturers i.e Asus, Huawei, Oppo and Nokia, who are able to enable VoLTE without any specific region firmware.

Yeah Xperia phone are really great, they have a mix of build quality and balance between software features and performance that just isn't available with other phones in the Android world (not talking about iPhones cause iOS is just BAD). I remember when I switched from my Z1 to a note 5, I was so disappointed. Wasn't sure if I wanted to get the Z5 or the note 5, so I decided to see why people praise Sammy, what a mistake ??*.
Going back to the main subject of this thread ?
I hadn't flashed my phone yet cause I had been pretty busy with school and wasn't sure if I should flash my carrier's firmware or not. So last week I got an update. A couple of hours later I went into the settings to tinker with stamina mode. And there I see it. A big banner on the top telling me to activate Wi-Fi Calling. So of course I did but couldn't test it directly cause I was out and about. When I got home (I have really bad reception in my dorm room, when people call me they go directly to voicemail cause I don't have any reception), I tried to see figure it out, but apparently it's just a placebo, it doesn't actually do anything ?
