I don't know if other people have asked this question, but I read a lot about locked bootloaders (and yes, I've been there with my own phone xD) and they talk about how it's not really possible (?) to flash custom ROMs with phones like that.
I have an unlocked SM-G900A and I'm on T-Mobile, but I really need the Wifi Calling.
Will the bootloader think it's a non-verified custom rom?
I don't want to send my phone to Samsung again...lol
Thanks!
You should be fine, i'm running a tmo rom currently, not sure if WiFi calling would work though.

Also, before I start flashing, if anyone knows about Sammobile firmwares- do they have modems inside the .md5?
I have it ready but I don't really...uh...want to flash the modem if it's there. LOL so confused...I saw another forum where it said the modem was already inside the sammobile firmware file, but some say it's fine so...I honestly don't know... xD

Oh i didnt know you meant using odin for a rom, no i would avoid that, as for just normal g900t roms from the tmo section, yes you can do that with flashfire/safestrap/multisystem, i dont know about odin though, pretty sure it wont work.

You can test the following if you would like try to run the latest T-Mobile OB1_5.0 Firmware as a virtual system (you must start the following process from rooted OC4):
Part-1: Install MultiSystem
1. Download the latest Multisystem.apk and Multisystem.zip.
2. Follow the Instructions to install MultiSystem.
Part-2: Install T-Mobile_OB1 5.0 Virtual System

2. Use ES File Explorer (with root access enabled) to copy the system_t-mobile_ob1.img to the following folder: MultiSystem/img/system
3. From the MultiSystem app enable "Virtual System," Press "Update Configuration," then select the system_t-mobile_ob1.img under "Primary System IMG."
4. Press "Update Configuration" once again and reboot.

No root yet. Root just achieved on the S6 so hopefully the same exploit can be used on the S5 at some point. We'll see....

Flash the system image from a factory image. If your kernel is modified, flash the boot IMG as well.
Use wugs toolkit.

So just to get this straight and I don't screw up my phone. I find the stock rom same version as my chroma which is LMY48B. I extract it and using fastboot I install system.img and boot.img? My phone is unencrypted right now... Will it get encrypted?
And when I need root again I must just install it along with Franco Kernel I'm using?
I appreciate the help...

First, why are you trying to unroot?
You would download a factory image form the Google developer page. Extract twice, and grab the system image from there. Yes, match the version your phone is currently on.

Have you considered multi ROM? You could have your rooted normal set up and a non rooted as well.

How about the encryption? Chroma is unencrypted. If the second rom is encrypted what happens there?
I'm also trying to find a stock rom that is not pre-rooted to install from recovery. Can you show me the latest I can get?

My friend I installed multirom and used an older Chroma rom that wasn't pre-rooted. it worked like a charm.... Now I can just go to this rom and use all my apps that require the phone to be unrooted.... Again thanks for the idea....
Can I just ask what version of chroma wasn't pre rooted? I want to do the same if possible. Thanks

well, 2 months ago it was being called older.. anyways, the far majority of roms do not have root. you need to flash the supersu file shen flashing the roms, for root. but, to flash a rom, yoh need an unlocked bootloader and twrp recovery. most apps that check for root will still think that you have root though.

i must have fell asleep during this development lol
far as i have ever seen, its rare for a rom to not be rooted, however, more frequently devs have had it off by default, and its a treasure hunt to find where to turn it on.
i do always flash the su zip, to avoid this tedious hunting though.

yup I found that most are pre-rooted, though found cleancore that works great. I've just installed multirom and that booted into it then tested a couple of apps that are blocked on root (Banking app and Sky Go), and happy days they work great.
Its annoying and rather wasteful having have a second rom just to run a couple of apps but at least now I can use the apps on my device if I want to. Thanks
Typical apps block hacking (root) so the work around instead of unrooting is to go deeper with the hacks/mods

I am sure about flashing C5503 rom on C5502 device because i am using it myself.
To flash custom recovery bootloader should be unlocked as far as i know but this is an official rom so i dont know. It may work without unlocking. (You dont recieve official OTA updates with unlocked bootloader thats the only harm, if you end up unlocking remember to backup TA files)
If you are on stock you can try flashing it without wiping internal memory but it is recommended to wipe it as not wiping may end up with problems like some apps not working.
Good Luck! :good:
PS- I am also a newb, you can search again and verify this information though i think it os correct.

Yes move to SD is available in Lollipop ROM
4.3 has been very stable for me, and I've been using it for the longest time, unwilling to update to KK even. However, now, I'm thinking of updating to 5.1.1, but I keep hearing a voice in my head saying "if it ain't broke..." It's just that the lure of moving apps to SD is strong, especially since the ZR only has around 4.5GB of usable space. I'm also unwilling to lose my progress in some of my games, so I'd like to update but I don't want to wipe/reset to factory default. Which means the update might make my phone unstable and laggy. I'm just so torn about this.

A carefully planned upgrade with app data backup should be hassle free.
I've now updated to 5.1.1 (without wiping my data) and everything went through without a hitch! I'm liking it so far . Sadly, it looks like this is the last update for my beloved ZR, as it probably won't get Marshmallow anymore.

If you have a full backup then why not just flash new firmware with odin? Flash, root, restore data. Cant really get much easier or faster. What advantages are you seeing with a flashable zip that maybe i'm missing?
Some people do not have access to a computer to use odin maybe? Faster and easier to use flashfire as well. Odin is fine for me though.

Yes, it will clear out your phone (downloads, data, etc). So before you flash the firmware. Make a complete back up just in case.

advantages would be doing everything on one device like flashing the update and restoring data at the same time. and further more possibly making the flashable zip pre rooted and debloated. making it almost a cutom stock rom without the at&t and samsung bloat. and for people wanting an unrooted install then odin would be more useful for flashing it in my opinion. having root now and flashfire i dont really see the need to have to use odin still for every update unless it has a new bl.

You must be rooted to move whole apps to SD-card. Btw which rom you changed to?
Also if you just think what you are doing and have a backup, rooting shouldn't cause any problems on stock firmware.
(Well, some apps have been made so that they won't work if device is rooted)
This is weired behaviour on 4X and reported by many users. Haven't came across solutions yet
This is one of the reason i am still with KK and haven't updated my phone even once.

yes it's Qualcom see the attachment.
I'm assuming that you have che1-l04 variant. Upgrade to marshmallow or rooting your phone only will do the job. I was also frustrated with low storage so I switched to custom roms and now using SD as internal storage, marshmallow's adoptable storage was good but still I wasn't able to install more than 45-50 apps(system apps aren't included).
you are right i'm using che1-L04 with marshmallow. i can root it but don't wanna switch the rom

Thats sad brother. but seeing the post was started in June. We may have few roms which support 4G now. atleast MM based ROMs should have this for sure.

I understand there must be more ROMs but i don't wanna take risk again. As you know it takes too much time to manage new Rom and it's not possible there will be no bugs after installing MM based rom.
