i was under the understanding to this day that a octoplus box with jtag was the only way to fix this device

Hi and a very pleasant day. I know this thread may be dated but it's still relevant due to the fact that a lot of users like my self is still facing this problem in 2018. I have an LG G4 LS991 that I have mistakenly downgraded *not knowing the file flashed would be lower version* anyways, I was able to read full flash and have the firmware extracted and saved. The firmware version is "ZVI" which is the latest.
Moreover, I have read in forums where you can do a direct emmc boot repair via sd card. Only thing you wil need is the systemImage.bin file. If you know how to get this or can provide me with some information on how I can etract it for use, then I would happily oblige. email me [email protected]

I have just managed to root my old LG P880/4xHD using advice from this forum. Thought I would try on an old phone first. One reason I tried is because I cannot update Android via the usual About phone, Software updates, Check now for updates. The Android version installed is 4.0.3. I am in Australia and it is possible the phone is an overseas model (got it from a friend in LG). Has "Not for Resale" stamped inside the back cover. When I try to update Android, I get an error message "Registered Error - Your device is not registered yet." I had hoped rooting would get around this but it hasn't. Have looked up old forum posts and there is talk of using .kdz files and all sorts of other things. Can anyone help me get around this registration issue but please be aware I am a novice and most of the older posts I read, I couldn't understand so simple explanations please. Thanks.
What you have is developer or test device and it is a bit different from normal ones. Try googling more but you will have hard time....

Its a year old phone, its not like its the nexus one or samsng galaxy s2...
Try flashing 4.12 with kdz. Google is your friend, try kdz flash 4.1.2 Optimus 4x hd.
Funny thing, when I bought my phone, only google asked me to register the phone, the usual Google Play thing. SO what do you exactly mean with REGISTER?
i think the whole phone isn't registred by LG for consumers, like dimi89 said it has to be a dev device. they aren't registred and cannot be updated/used the normal way. the serial number of this phone isn't present in the LG databases i think. Just flash kdz and everything is fine. You know that you don't get any support or warranty on that phone but you should know that.
Help with D405n bootloader and stock recovery
Ok, so I am completely new to the rooting, bootloader and recovery community, and Android in general. I was trying to unlock my bootloader, following an XDA tutorial, on how to do it on all "LG L90 varients". It was an old post, from 2014. I hard bricked my phone, waited a long time for someone to be able to help, and thankfully someone referred me to a very helpful post on how to unbrick LG L90's. So now I am unbricked, I rerooted my phone, and trying to install the Cyanogen ROM. I believe my phone still has the stock recovery and the bootloader is locked. After about an hour of searching, I found nothing helpful. So I want to know if anyone can help me. I want to unlock my bootloader and change my recovery. I don't know what I have to do first, and don't know how. Here is some info on my phone which may be helpful.
Android version: 5.0.2 (Lollipop)
Kernal version: 3.4.0+
Software version: V20a-OP1-SI
LG D405n L90
Firmware: VUK/Virgin Mobile (United Kingdom) V20a
Please reply in a noob friendly way, so I understand. Thank you.
Check this link for instructions for unlock boot loader and install custom recovery but don't use its files because you are in version 20a (android 5.02) and they maybe outdated:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2839690
Go here for updated custom recovery and check some posts down for aboot for 20a
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2826150
Don't forget to read well the posts and don't make any mistake or you may brick your phone again.
Good luck [emoji1]

I saw it before, which is how I bricked my phone, using the wrong version. However I found a v20a download on some cyanmod.pl forum, went with Cyanogen, hated it so went back to stock, lol. Anyway, thank you for the help.
Why the CM hate?
Can you pls share why did you hate it? Currently I am in process of figuring out how get custom rom on my d405n v20a, but from what you say, maybe I should stop trying. But I cannot imagine something can be worse than L90 Lollipop...

Hello! I would like to ask you for a favor. Could you pretty please explain to me how you unbricked your device the first time? I did the exact same mistake and used the wrong version in that post Now my device doesn't display anything, except when I plug it into the computer or to the charger without the battery on it. Also I see a 63,9 MB drive when I plug the phone into the pc. I believe you experienced the same things since we did the same mistake. So please help me, it's my only phone and I really want it back :crying: If it's a big and hard process, then just give me the links you used to find the instructions/solution. Thanks for your time and I count on you!

Hey, Lazgeor. I'm really sorry for the late reply. If you still have the same problem, here is the reply that I followed: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=61808443&postcount=9
Make sure you have the right LOADER.img file. Take your battery out and whatever it says on the label is your phone model, if it's an LG L90 D410 then you can download the LOADER.img file from the reply, if not you can Google the right LOADER.img for your phone.
If you brick it even hard to where it only shows in Device Manager under "Ports (COM and LPT)" I can also show you what thread I followed. You loose everything when it gets bricked but you might be lucky if you had a gmail signed in with auto-sync on. It should recover most data such as app data, photos, etc.

Hello! Thanks for your reply I found that reply about a month ago as I was searching desperately to find a solution about my phone. Thankfully it worked and since then my phone has been working perfectly. However, my IMEI number became 0 after that tutorial, but I found a solution about that too in another post (after I asked for help first ). It's here for people who are wondering: http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-l90/help/lost-imei-device-t3285130 Thanks for posting me this message. I may have fixed my problem but others have not and it will help them!

Also I want to mentioned that this are the steps that i rooted
Please any help will be appreciated, I want to go back to stock. :fingers-crossed:
Edit : I have tried all variants of the firmware, some they not even get stuck they say " contact administrator "

I want to just know, which is the tested method to flash European ROM to Chinese phone?
I also dont have a proper link for european rom ( I have seen some people flashing Indian rom and what is difference between indian and european?)
So lads please help me, I dont want to brick my phone, because there are no OP support team near my country. So it would be a garbage.
By personal experience, don't do that.
My phone is just bricked from just trying to flash the same rom again.
I've always did on my htc, xiaomi, samsung and many others and OnePLus 10 pro was the first one to give me problem. If you get in a state that you need to run fastboot flashing unlock_critical and for some reason your device reset then it's dead with no chance to recover.
There is no tool available to us that can recover from that. The phone don't turn on screen, it's not recognized by the computer and even on the charger it just don't turn on. So completely dead.
The best way is to just buy the model NE2213, that comes with a global rom.

Get Fastboot Enhanced & files needed to access adb/fastboot from computer. Unlock Bootloader. Download the OOS ROM you want then extract the file you need for Fastboot Enhanced. Make sure no cow files exist on device with Fastboot Enhanced and then if all checks out you flash.
I've kept this very vague because like you've mentioned there are a few different tutorials explaining (including mine here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...lobal-rom-region-change.4462591/post-87151395) but the basic steps I quickly explained should exist in them all. You'll just need to find one you can follow that makes the most sense to you!
I personally used NE2213 on my device that I converted from NE2210 and am using that device to reply to this thread. I am in Canada and this is Chinese Model OP10 Pro and all works fine on my end. Hopefully you can accomplish the same for yourself if this is your intention.

If you can make sense of all the steps then go for it lol. My tutorial is more of a gathering of others work put together in a way that I hoped others could follow. I didn't want to re re re make another tutorial from scratch as your already seeing how confusing and inconsistent having so many guides can be!
I typically use Oxygen Updater on the PlayStore. Then in settings I'll do this (check photo). Then go back to the first page of application and you should see a download option (also check photo). Once you've downloaded the file just transfer it to the computer and you should be good to go. This is usually how I get the files...
Thanks so much, You made a great job lad.
Will try when I get a phone and I will let you know how it goes.

Just remember to keep reading over everything while you wait for your phone. Make sure to check everything over and over and just read all the threads here on XDA to get an understanding for what everyone else has done (the good and the bad) to ensure you yourself don't make any mistakes when the time comes.
I have the Chinese Model also and don't even understand one word let alone writing in the language but this is the phone I got and I gotta make it work so I can relate to your situation with buying it already and it being too late to change your mind lol.
my mind is blowing, everyday reading so much failures and bricked phones thats not good for mental health.
planned to go with your guide step by step and pray same time, maybe that helps lol
I Need Help... Few days ago I bought Lg V40 Think At&t locked network phone and it was on Android 8.1 Oreo. I wanted to update it to Android 10 somehow I came to know that we can update through lgup. But I accidently flashed Verizon kdz and now I get to know that we can't flash At&t kdz as its not available anywhere.
Now my phone is not asking for network unlock code as it asked on previous firmware At&t. But Sim is also not Working and also giving nt-code carrier unmatched error message whenever I restart Phone.
I found it on xda that Nt code error can be fixed by flashing v405ebw rom as someone else also faced this error and fixed Nt code error by flashing v405ebw.
Now to Main Question Can I unlock network now after crossflashing the kdz my previous network was At&t

Well first, the nt-error code thing, no, you do not have to flash ebw rom to fix that, that's a misunderstanding and the post you read the person may not have made that part clear.
The nt-error code is pretty easily fixed, but, it has zero effect. It does absolutely no harm, and it only happens when you boot the phone. So, if you are thinking that somehow is contributing to your problem, no, it is not.
So your problem though is a pretty big one, as you suspect. You have to have the at&t variant rom for it to ask for the code, but the at&t kdz doesn't exist. I'd suggest join the tele group for v40, they have people there that have been through this problem, and pretty sure there's a backup of at&t there also. You would probably have to use qfil and flash ea partition one by one, but at least you'd get it back, the rom that is.
cheers

I found this file on notes on lg v40 group saying attq, when opened link it says Horrible Att Android q Build and it's zip file.

You would probably have to use qfil and flash ea partition one by one, but at least you'd get it back, the rom that is.
cheers

Yes that's the backup of Q. The person said 'horrible' just because it's at&t, that's all, not anything to do with the quality of the backup.
Many people have used that backup and it's worked for them.

Can you guide me how to flash it through qfil I'm not an expert. I can't find any forum etc on this topic for flashing at&t rom through qfil with this kind of backup.
.
Thanks

There's really no guide specifically for this, just look in the guides section and get qfil set up and working. Then, simply unzip the att rom file and begin flashing ea individual partition to the appropriate partition in qfil.
