I have attached a screenshot of a file, now I'm new to all of this and I am sure there's more to it than just changing OEM unlock to true... Any ideas?
Are you sure this is a S5 G900A Phone. Where is your source for this info? Because as far as I know the OEM unlock is usually accessed though the dev options. And this particular option is not available in the Galaxy S5 for AT&T. It least not mine currently running LP OI5.
It can't be the AT&T variant, the bootloader is locked with no unlock method. The oem unlock option is in developer options but not for the g900a.
So I forgot to specify this is for the G870A. But I was just browsing around in ES File Explorer and came across the file..... Here's the path
/data/data/com.android.settings/shared_prefs/com.android.settings_preferences.xml

Ok so sorry if this has already been posted but I can't find anything. This is my first attempt at rooting. I am trying to root my 2014 Moto x. I am on US cellular so I believe the model is XT1093. Not sure though as this seems to be missing from settings in lollipop. I tried a root tutorial for xt1097 but did not work. There is no OEM unlock setting in my Developer options. I think I have to unlock my bootloader through Motorola but havn't been successful.. any help would be greatly appreciated.
Andrew
I've got the same problem here I think it's a US Cellular problem with what they eliminated from lollipop but I can't be sure looking everywhere but can't find any answers. I wish we could get some help with this though would love to unlock and root this thing.
Yea, I think your right about it being a US Cellular thing. No one else seems to have the problem and US Cellular is a unique model number (XT1093 vs 1095 or 1097). Iv tried to unlock the bootlader through motos web cite which should work but I'm having some difficulties. I entered the info from my device, it said it was able to be unlocked and gave me the unlock key. but when I entered the key I got an error. Not sure if I'm doing something wrong or they are.. Still working on it..

What command are you using to unlock your bootloader with the key? And what error are you getting?
I've tried the unlock method from Motorola. It all works until it prompts you to check the box in developing. options that says unlock oem functions. On the 1093 in lollipop the dev. option is not there. Also tried the tool kit in this forum that is made for non pure phones... It works great... even tells you your phone is unlocked but it doesn't finish. What I mean is it doesn't reboot your phone and the phone is still locked. Really frustrating ? Any help or ideas are very welcome. PLEASE HELP!
Is there a way to root the phone without unlocking? Cause if we could... We could try a different rom and see if from there we could find the unlock box in the developer options.

There's no such thing as "Unlock/ Unlock OEM functions" in developer options, in any ROM, ever.
Just found this.. Apparently Nexus 6 & 9 have this additional step to unlock the bootloader. I didn't have to do this while unlocking my device whilst on lollipop. So I'm gonna assume it's possible to unlock the bootloader on your device if this option is missing from the Developer Options..
Follow the procedure on motorola's website to unlock the bootloader and report back with the error you see on the online tool, or the actual device.
P.S - voids your warranty, unless you have a dev device
It doesn't give an error per say... It tells you to go to dev options and check the box or click on the option to unlock oem. Of course it's not there so the program will not execute the unlock. It says waiting for device....

Has there been any more insight on this?
After updating to 5.1, OEM unlock is in developer options now
I'm on a Verizon Galaxy Note 5, and came across an "Enable OEM unlock" option in developer options. What does this setting do exactly?
IF you want to unlock your bootloader, then you need to tick that box
thought attempting to unlock bootloader or rooting device results in insta-brick
I asked Verizon, they told me to ask Samsung, lol
It's useless on Verizon and Att. It allows you to unlock your bootloader to flash roms and root.

had something odd happen yesterday. when i tried to enable the oem unlock it asked for a passcode. I threw some 0's in there and it didnt do anything. For some reason today I was going to try again and use the OEM (636) to see if that would let me enable it. This time it switched without asking for a code and it gave me a popup saying the phones security features would be disabled. Then I went into the bootloader since I havent been before and the FAP Lock says off. Is any of this important or are we still screwed?
Is there way to have custom kernel and OEM Unlock? My recovery isn't customized, I still have the default one, although my kernel is modded (SpaceX)

plz help i need to root my s8 but i can't find the oem unlock in the developer option and body can help
Usa version have locked up bootloaders meaning there isn't a unlock oem there is a way to root but its somewhat stable I haven't tried it myself but from what I hear you can do allot of things with it like if it was a actual root
I've looked at every guide I can find but nothing works when trying to flash TWRP. It always fails because I'm guessing the bootloader is still locked. I clicked the "OEM Unlock" button in dev settings but ODIN only ever tells me that the secure check failed when trying to flash it. Can anyone help out? Thanks.
You have to get the unlock codes from AT&T. There is a form for that.
AT&T Device Unlock
Hello,
I recently got a new S21 Ultra and I was trying to unlock the bootloader & flash stuff.
I haven't rooted phones for a few years, so I am unsure how much has changed. As far as I know, EU Exynos models have unlockable bootloaders, don't they? My S8 did back then.
As I noticed the OEM Unlock option Is missing from the dev. settings. Fastboot can't seem to detect the device either. If I go to DL mode, I see a line OEM Lock: on(L).
My build number is: G998BXXS6EWBB
One UI: 5.1
Is my BL completely locked or is there any hope that it can be unlocked?
