Removed shutter sound file but still hear it on some occasions. - Galaxy S5 Mini Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,
After having rooted my SMG800F, I went to the /system/media/audio/ui folder and removed the following files:
camera_click.ogg
Shutter.ogg
Shutter_multiple.ogg
PowerOn.ogg
the last one was for the annoying boot sound and works very well, it now boots silently.
However, for the camera, it worked initially.
But now, in some conditions that I'm yet to identify, the shutter sound is played when I take a picture.
What's really weird is that it I take pictures with the sound, go to another app, and then come back to take pictures a few minutes later and I no longer hear the shutter sound.
Where does it take the sound file from?
Do you have any suggestions?

any help would be very much so appreciated

[Q] How to silence camera shutter sound?

Is there a way to remove the shutter sound the camera makes when taking photos or video regardless of the rom? Can I just use root explorer and find the audio files and delete them? If this is possible, where are the audio files and what are their names?
There was a modified camera.apk posted, but it didn't work with latest firmware so I didn't really used it.
Most of the camera sounds are files located at /system/media/audio/ui.
However, the shutter sound in embedded in the camera.apk itself. Maybe it can be done using and apk editor, but I'm no programmer, so I have no clue to get it working.
Please follow the steps to disable it!
1. Please make sure the Galaxy Note is rooted.
2. Use root explorer(or any other similar apps like it).
3. Start the Root Explorer and browse the file “/system/media/audio/ui”
4. Click on the “Mount Button” in Root Explorer.
5. Rename “Shutter_01.ogg” to “Shutter_01.ogg.off” or Shutter_01.ogg.backup
6. Say goodbye to the camera shutter sound
keep device in silent mode..
ranjan.alva: Camera still use sound in silent mode.
I did the same thing like "neworder76" and this works!

Which Firmware u using?? i think you need to update your device to new Firmware.
This may be a later answer but here:
The camera shutter sound's volume is controlled by the MEDIA VOLUME.
The reason why it still goes off when you set the phone to silent mode is that Silent Mode only sets Notification and Ringer volume to 0, not media volume.
You'll have to adjust media volume in the settings yourself, as it stays up even in silent mode. If you're unsure, media volume is the volume for games or apps.
It's illegal to silence the camera shutter sound in some countries. Be wary of this.

LOL.
I know one: Japan! Can't silence the cameras on DSIs or 3DSs. =)) Never occurred to me that the people in this thread could be attempting that for `illegal` reasons.
Just so I can get out of any potential legal mess, I just discovered this while messing with my phone. I was actually looking for the sound.

That's so weird; none of the cameras I've owned have made any sound (they've been practically silent), but every phone I've owned has had a loud, artificial camera shutter sound. Do other countries require normally quiet cameras to add an artificial sound when taking pics?

It has to do something with preventing stalking and secretly taking photos.
All I have to do is turn the Volume down to nothing before I launch the camera app... I haven't done anything to mod it either, it's pretty much stock.
no camera artificial shutter sounds for me if the phone is on silent, and i am on an unrooted phone on 2.3.6. and no need for me to turn the media volume down. am i the only one?
Kind of reminds me back during "the space race"....NASA was all proud of itself
after spending (probably) millions of dollars to develop an ink pen that would write in zero gravity. Reporters asked a (then) Soviet (don't remember if it was an engineer or who) what they thought of this brilliant achievement by the Americans to develop an INK pen that works in zero gravity. The Soviet just shrugged and said...so, we just use pencil.
Same here...a somewhat simple idea of silencing the camera sound doesn't need to have a hack for the software, just turn down the speaker before launching the camera....BRILLIANT!
Confirmed. No camera sound with media volume 0. I'm using rooted stock ROM 2.3.6 KL3.
Thanks muchly for the tip!!!

Apple should be sued into oblivion then...switching the silent makes the camera silent worldwide.
Who cares anyway? If you are a creep trying to snap a shot of some chick's ass you will get caught eventually. Wish you luck with that.

Stupid video editor sometimes stopping sound after exporting

Hi,
got a problem with the video editor. It works fine most of the time. But sometimes when I make a more complex video the sound playback (the sound mp3, the sound recorded by the camera is still there) just stops. Any idea??
It stops after 30 seconds, is that intended??
No one using that thing?? Really?
Hello?

Recording Video - No sound

I've just been testing the stereo speakers in a quiet environment, by speaking from either side of the phone, however on playback I can initially hear white noise and slight rustling and then the audio just cuts out completely at the point that I spoke in the recording.
I'm a bit perplexed as to what is causing the issue. Has anyone else encountered this problem?
I have encountered the same issue. The phone completely stops recording sounds in video mode
Had the same issue.
Changed codec to h.264 in camera settings in Video Size section and all of problems had gone.
But the phone still cuts sound after ~3 sec while recording in applications like snapchat or messenger.
Edit: After restarting the phone both applications record sound
So this problems still occurs, despite being on the latest update.
Anyone else encountered this? Just wondering whether it's worse doing a full reset
I have the same issue. Do you have other sound apparatus BT associated? It seems to be linked with BT associated sound with my car. It comes back after turning off and on the phone.
Still quite annoying..
Reboot your phone.
Turn off all Bluetooth devices and Bluetooth on phone.
Try another camera app.
Turn off accessibility features.
Clear data for the camera app.
Verify the mic is working on other apps.
Verify permissions for the camera app.
Are you on a stock firmware or did you perform a different kind of upgrade?
What ROM / firmware.
Thanks for all those tips.
Emui 9 as I had the phone. I bought the P20Pro used two weeks ago and upgraded Ota to 203. I did not tried the camera before the upgrade so don't know the issue was already there.
I have found same issue with P30 Pro.
I'm normal camera mode I had the shutter set to mute.
When then going to video mode this setting carries over and sets mute too.
Still testing if other apps and services can override this setting when

If you wish to silence shutter on camera but not use the native camera setting to do so, use tasker to mute the phone when camera app is launched.
This mutes the shutter sound but does not stop video audio from recording.
Hi guys, Huawei P30, ELE-L29, EMUI 9.1.0.153 (C431E4R2P2)
All videos recorded using the phone have sound when played back on the phone (with 80% volume setting) but it can be hardly heard after taking such a video file to YouTube or any other smartphone/computer. Mic gain problem?
I have the P20 Pro and although all setting on video are set to mute it still records sound and it's really annoying as I cant turn the dam thing off, someone techy please help, I'm going back to apple when my contract is up don't like this at all, camera is amazing and only reason I moved back to an android tbh, thanks x

Mute won't mute the video audio, I think it's for UI sounds whilst in the camera app, don't think you can disable audio whilst recording..
Why do you want to? Just curious.
Just to add, I ran into the same issue on my fully update P30 pro.
I was out on vacation and recorded 3 videos back to back. 4K30, HEVC. When I tried the play them back, I found no audio was recorded. The video does have an audio track, but when I pull it out and look at it, it has nothing. Very annoying when you record something that you'll prob never see again in your lifetime (unless you return someday) and find out it didnt work right.
If I test right, everything's working fine. This is the first time this has happened.

Facebook Live Audio Volume Low

When I take video for Facebook Live, I do save the videos in HD to my phone, but I also notice that the audio volume is low. How can I adjust this? I generally take videos at live band performances where I'm right at the front of the stage.. Unfortunately, I have to turn my headset speakers up to hear the sound.
Additional information: Normally, I keep my phone's volumes on mute. Would this have an impact on audio recording quality? Those that normally take Facebook Live videos, how are your volumes set? And also, can you hear the sound pretty well? When taking video, I'm normally towards the front of the stage, or at it, where the speakers are. Not sure if this has an impact on audio quality being so low or not.
8/25/19 EDIT: Over FOUR months later, still no replies to this topic, will bump. OP has been edited with a second paragraph.
I was about to post this question again but apparently I already had, over 4 months ago. No response, so this is a shameless bump. I've edited the OP a bit with "Additional Information". I took another Facebook live video yesterday and I'm still getting the same low volume in my recording.
Does anyone have any experience using an attached microphone with the Galaxy Note 9?
