Hello everybody,
few weeks ago I started to receive notifications that a new update is available.
I have the Chinese version of Huawei P9 and the update I'm going to receive is EVA-AL00C00B195.
I didn't confirm the download yet since my phone is rooted (and I didn't have the time and the mood to unlock it again , so the storage will be flushed and I have to do all the job again), also I would like to keep the update file(s) so I can eventually flash it again and make it available to download here, for everybody that could need it.
So... 2 questions:
- what is the best procedure to download the update and save it somewhere? (my phone is rooted, so I can access all location)
- after I saved the file(s) can I do the update via TWRP or other flash utilities?
- actually I have the B183 version, any way to back it up?
See you soon!
Here is AL10 B195 FULL update:
http://update.hicloud.com:8180/TDS/data/files/p3/s15/G962/g77/v66503/f1/full/update.zip
Needs original recovery, of course...
Thank you, but it's not so easy to find also AL00 updates...

Hi.
I'm just wondering if anybody can help me please?
I have a UK Huawei P9 EVA-L09 with Marshmallow currently on it (B166) build I think. It is unlocked and has TWRP 3.0.2.0 Recovery installed on it.
I would like to upgrade to Nougat 7.0 and EMUI 5.0, but most of my attempts have failed and I have had to use the rollback method to get back to Marshmallow.
I have tried to do it by flashing an Update.zip and subsequent EU_Apps package.zip through TWRP to no avail.
I have also tried the 'Dload' folder method, also to no avail. The closest I've gotten is to build no B378, but it shows up as NRD90M Test-Keys on the Build No in the phone settings instead and all apps such as camera, NFC, Bluetooth are missing / not working etc. Trying to then flash the EU_Apps package through 'Dload' method doesn't alleviate the problem of missing apps.
Does anybody have any tips for what I could try to get it onto a working Nougat build with apps please?
Also, if anybody has any links to any relevant firmware etc, then that would be very helpful too.
I'm pulling my hair our trying to get this to work. Surely it's can't be that hard can it??
Many thanks, Bill.
Is your phone branded? For a particular UK network I mean? And if so are you flashing ROMs for that network?
I don't know if that's the problem but I was on Vodafone UK B137 (which is Marshmallow) and flashed the 2 update zips for a Vodafone Nougat ROM thru TWRP and it was successful. I then flashed an updated zip using the "dload method" and that was successful too.
When you say you flashed the zips in TWRP "to no avail", what exactly was the end result?
Also might help if you give the full version of your starting ROM, and what zips you were trying to flash, ie full names and sources.
I'm kinda new to this device forum but seems like people get varying results with different flashing methods, for no particular reason either!
Peace.

Hi. Thanks for your reply.
When I tried to flash .Zips through TWRP it kept coming up with errors and didn't flash them (something about being umnable to mount /System).
I was on EE UK, but found a method yesterday for debranding my phone and setting it to C432. I also managed to successfully flash C432B182 firmware on it.
I have since attempted to flash Nougat B360 using the 'Dload' method and now my phone keeps asking me to enter my password to decrypt storage. Multiple attempts to reset my phone and wipe cache partitian don't seem to be working. Do you have any idea how I can get around this?
It's so hard and it's so annoying how other people seem to be getting it right and mine is proving to be a swine. Makes me want to get rid of it to be honest and get something easier.
Thanks again, Bill.
I'm concerned that this may be bricked right now. No amount of using eRecovery to reset the phone will stop it from going onto the dreaded 'enter password to decrypt storage' screen! I will see if I can re flash it using Fastboot, but I'm a bit concerned right now...
I have an O2 Branded one. I'm too chicken to mess with it in case I brick it!
Just waiting for the official UK O2 OTA update to arrive &

Probably advisable unless you absolutely know what you're doing and don't mind taking the risk. I'm a bit annoyed with Huawei and my carrier, they are always so slow with providing updates and Hmui 5.0 is only what Hmui 4.0 should have been in the first place. I'm done with these manufacturer's stupid over bloated overlays and will be going to an official Google phone in future!
If you can get it into fastboot mode, flash TWRP, then you should be able to progress from there, hopefully by at least formatting data to get rid of the encryption! Sounds like.a royal pita tho to be honest.
When I flashed to Nougat from MM using TWRP I got a bunch of error messages too, but it (eventually) booted up ok....

Hi again all.
Success! I finally managed to crack it.
I downloaded MM Firmware version C432B136 and used Huawei Extractor to extract the Boot.img, Recovery.img and System.img files and was able to boot into Fastboot mode fortunately. I used a Command Prompt to unlock the Bootloader again and flashed each .img file in line.
The phone booted up into the B136 firmware and I was then able to update OTA to B166, but not B182 strangely. So I downloaded a B182 version firmware and placed it in the 'dload' folder of the phone's S.D Card, before forcibly flashing it by holding volume up, volume down and the power button on boot up.
I subsequently used the below link, which showed me how to use Huawei Updater and HiSuite to update to B361 firmware.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=70594380&postcount=2
Once on Nougat B361 firmware, my phone's update setting prompted me to update to the latest B378 firmware OTA.
Finally, to achieve Root status I followed the below guide and am now running root with SuperUser and BusyBox installed. I'm happy to report that both Nougat 7.0 and HMUI 5.0 are running smoothly on my phone and all features are working (i.e. Bluetooth, Camera and NFC) and performance and battery life are all noticeably better than ever.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=70927601&postcount=456
Be aware that my phone is EVA-L09, so I followed all guides and downloaded all firmware that related to my specific phone model.
Phew! Thanks for all of your help and good luck to those who are attempting to get this working.
Bill.
Good morning all:
I am having a problem with my phone.
The history...
Bought a P9 EVA-L19 in Belgium and it came originally with version B127 (I think).
So, I decided to root it and so I used SRKTool to unlock bootloader, install TWRP and root.
Problems started when I tried to update to a newer ROM.
It lost the original look and some functionalities, like the random imagens in lock screen and some original apps (FM Radio?)
In the meantime I managed to update to B137. The look was ugly but I managed to solve it using Nova Launcher.
Then the phone started giving me the message there was an update to B342 but everything fails.
I tried to reblock bootloader with SRKTool but it fails, I tried to download and install with dload method and fails.
So, I'm stuck with B137.
I even tried to debrand using this method: https://youtu.be/JZVsIKtdgV4
But after the first step "changing oeminfo and custom.bin" I even lost the keyboard so I gave up following the next steps.
So now my phone has a ROM EVA-L19900B137 and I can't find a way of updating to android 7.0 and I can't go back to the original ROM with all the functions.
Tha only thing I haven't tried is an Update using TWRP.
Is there a final release of 7.0 that can be flashed using TWRP?
Or even the original ROM?
(no, I know I am stupid but didn't made a backup before root and updates :crying: )
Thank you so much in, in advance, for your time.
I am not expert in these stuff but when I completely removed my system I installed a rom with different cust after that I got c900 then again I removed system and just installed the old cust "c185" and version b161 and then it worked like a charm even updates are working
your original dload method should be working. Just flash an original firmware with your original cust. This will lock your bootloader and turn your phone to original. You will even get the OTA updates.
After that if there is still no nougat update for your phone, there is 2 option. 1st one is check if there is an update that has the same cust number with your phone and apply it.
If not so, you can do a debranding procedure. Here is the link for it: https://forum.xda-developers.com/p9/how-to/guide-debranding-to-c432-updating-to-t3551523
I managed to fix it.
Just in case someone has the same problem, I used the solutions/methods described on these threads:

Hi guys, I am only a very junior user who randomly flash his phone but most of the time I want my phone to be stable for work. I have had the situation since the recent OTA available, suffered a lot, would like to seek any help or advice.
I have a L09C635B361, Japan version. I updated to Android 7 via OTA, then unlocked / rooted under the instructions in this forum, forgot which exact thread though. Never thought of flashing any customized rom so I haven't realized the update problem until the recent OTA update (from B361 to B382) released. I got the push, downloaded B382 OTA package, restart to TWRP, then the flash was failed in TWRP screen. Restart again, the system notified there was a recent update failure. Then I installed Firmware Finder, downloaded the 3 update zip files, restart back to TWRP, still failed installing. Please refer to the failure screenshot for detailed reson. I have no idea what it said and how I should do differently.
No other way to go, I backed up my system, then wiped my phone, reset to factory mode, but brand new system was very strange: only voice input, no keyboard, missing several key functions such as camera. So I have to restore to my previous system, everything worked well except I can't open "clock".
Right now I am looking at system notification of B382 all the time, but I can't figure out how to get it updated, I don't mind if there's a way enables me go back to stock rom, but it's really hard to find the stock firmware for C635......
Thanks, appreciate your help in advance.
Hey man, try follow this guide to debrand your phone (get onto C432). It will probably unroot you and get you back to stock firmware as well.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/p9/how-to/guide-debranding-to-c432-updating-to-t3551523
Might want to check around first though, I dont want you bricking your phone on my account.
Good luck

Thanks bro. I will try the entire process when I have a backup phone.
One more thing is when I first tried to wipe phone, failed for several times. Plus the TWRP flashing error, I have suspect that there's something wrong with my partition information or format error. Can anyone help me to eliminate the possibility by the screenshot please?
On the other hand, I found 3 zip files on Firmware for same version update. Which one should I flash? If I need to flash all of the 3, is there a sequence?
The screenshot for the 3 zip files.

You flash those in the order they appear. Except the last one, don't flash that (I think). From what I know it's always been update.zip and then update_hw.zip.
I see you're going to flash hw_jp which is the Japanese cust, so ignore the advice above about debranding to c432 as that's essentially the same thing as what you are about to do with those files. (C432 is the European version, which is called update_hw_eu.zip)
Also the voice input only bug is well known. You need to rollback to marshmallow (I forget which firmware but there's a thread on it here somewhere) and then OTA back to nougat and it should fix it.

Well, it ended up with paying 20USD to some "pro"s on taobao.com to unbrick my P9...sigh...am I too old to do this :crying:
Hi,
Sorry of this is a bit of a newbie question but:
What is the purpose of each of the 3 different update zip files ?
And do I have to apply them all - and in what order ?
In my case, I am about to update to B389, and I have downloaded 3 files for VIE-L29C636B389 (currently on VIE-L29C636B130), and I have an update.zip, an update_full_VIE-L29_hw_spcseas.zip and an update_data_full_public.zip.
I was planning on doing the first two by the dload method (with reboots in between), but the update_data_full_public.zip doesn't appear to have an update.app, so how do I load that ? (I do have TWRP on my phone, so could probably figure it out - eventually).
Cheers,
SZ
same question
I read somewhere that it should be flashed in that exact order. i'm guessing that is the same procedure as with auto OTA updates, except now we have rooted phones, so bye-bye to auto updates. I am currently on VIE-L29CB636B387 and i received an automatic Huawei notification of a new version (VIE-L29CB636B388) about a week ago. I tried to update to that version in System Update-Quick Update, but that didn't work (surprise!). There was no issue though as when I rebooted it just went back to 387. However, I now have a red "New Version" notification in my System Update. Please tell me how your upgrade went if you went ahead and flashed 389. I have the three files already from filefinder, i also have TWRP and/or I could use adb fastboot to install. Thanks in advance.
Hey,
I am not sure I want to proceed on the basis of something that somebody 'read somewhere' ....
Anyhow - I've not run these updates yet, as I wanted to backup my phone first, but TWRP keeps blowing up with an error in the middle of the backup, so I am not going to try anything until I get to the bottom of that.
Will let you know if/when I ever go ahead!
Cheers,
SZ
Hi,
TWRP blowing up during NAND backups? thats not a good thing. Upon the advice of a forum member (xzanium) I flashed TWRP 3.1.1-1 instead of TWRP-3.2.1-0-vienna. No hitches so far, solid backups and no hiccups in flashing SuperSU, also got xposed to work seamlessly and other stuff. I hope you are able to resolve the issue you mentioned and get around to getting VIE-L29CB636B389 on your phone.
Well good luck to you, and post here any progress if you would.
SZ,
I have an idea on what the purpose of each of the 3 different update zip files are for and whether you have to apply them all - and in what order.
Since I could make a NAND backup using TWRP without issues, and there was an OTA update notice for an upgrade to VIE-L29CB636B388 which I couldn't upgrade to while rooted, I decided to unroot in order to upgrade to that. First i did the requisite steps - uninstalled the xposed framework and proceeded with the full unroot with SuperSU. Then I performed the dload method to flash the update.app that I extracted from the update.zip.
It was here where i hit a snag. What followed was, I found out that Huawei needs a verified stock rom, meaning it has to be a fullOTA-MF-PV in order that the bootloader could be relocked. So I tried my luck and downloaded the stock ROM VIE-L29C636B370 and flashed that. Success! From there, and several auto upgrades later I was back to L29C636B370. Reinstalling my Google account also locked back FRP. At this point i am full stock EMUI 5
Now, to answer your question. When I tried to upgrade to VIE-L29C636B388 via system update quick update. I only saw one file - update.zip therefore this must the only one needed for incremental patches. The same holds true with update_data_full_public.zip as I later learned when I decided to use the proxy upgrade method in MT filefinder . It applied a 2nd patch. The third file, namely, update_full_VIE-L29_hw_spcseas.zip was not required for this incremental update. In fact, the update process was cut short and an error message appeared that the file could not be located, even though i copied that to the HwOUC folder. It appears that this was deleted before the fullOTA update could finish during the incremental update process. Clearly, this last zip is not necessary for incremental updates. So this must be the package which delivers the rest of the ROM, or the parts of it that needs to be changed.
So, obviously what "I read somewhere" was legit. I hope that answers your question.
cheers!
mm
Hello
I would like to update my Honor 9 lite ordered a china
But It seemsthe OTA update does not work in France for this mode Yes or No ?
I just read almost every page of this thread but I must admit that I am not enough to succeed to make all these manipulations.
I managed to download 3 file of the latest update Huawei Firmware Finder.
I have 1 file (update.zip), 1 (update_data_full_public.zip) and another (update_full_LLD-L22A_hw_in.zip)
But now I do not know how to update the firmware with these 3 files.
Yes I am lost because I can not find a simple method to update my firmware.
I used the Huawei Firmware Finder Android application, but I can not start an update even though I downloaded the files as what by the proxi as advised or go through a DNS.
Yes I am a novice but I would like to successfully update this smartphone.
Thank you for your help and advice
Sorry for my english I am using Google translator
Thank you to all of you

Its not that complicated even though it might seen tricky.
There are two ways to do this:
1)firmware finder(Android app)
You can use firmware finder's update through proxy or dns method.
But before you do that go to play store and search for "system update". In the result you can see the EMUI system update app. Click it and uninstall the updates.
Then open firmware finder(Android app) and go to the firmware you want to install. You can find dns method and proxy method there. DNS would be easier but both works.
Choose whichever you want. Select the auto mode for more ease of installing. Then check for updates from the settings app and you will hopefully find the update listed. Download it like normal OTA update and then it'll be installed.
Points to consider:
*This will only work with a locked bootloader and if it is unlocked relock it
*It's recommend to download only full updates as these will have less chance of failing
*Make sure that you only download approved firmwares otherwise the update will be abandoned after download (means you wasted your data for nothing)
*Choose which firmware to install carefully and try to stick with your varient as installing other varient's firmware may fail or cause bugs
2)Through HuRupdater
This is not recommended if you're not familiar with rooting or bootloader unlocks
If you don't have an unlock code then you cannot proceed as honor stopped giving bootloader unlock codes so if you don't have your code keep trying the first method
You can use the firmware finder for PC or Android.
Download all 3 files of the firmware (ONLY FULL OTAs)
Then unlock the bootloader(if not done yet)
Flash a twrp for our device
Then download HuRupdater
Follow the guidelines: https://forum.xda-developers.com/honor-9/development/tool-flash-official-firmware-recovery-t3769279
Long story short, you need to rename the three files to "update.zip" , "update_all_hw.zip" and "update_data_public.zip"
Then keep all three files and HuRupdater .zip in the same folder. Using TWRP flash the HurUpdater.zip file(not others)
After flashing is done relock the bootloader to recieve further OTA Updates.
Then you're all good to go.
Points to consider:
*Don't relock bootloader right after flashing. Boot up the phone and set it up. Check if everything is working and then only relock it.
*Keep recovery.img with the 3 files and HuRupdater.zip while flashing. Then after checking if everything is okay, flash the firmware again but this time delete the recovery.img
*Don't relock with TWRP installed because of possible risk of bricking.
So if you are familiar with the rooting procedures 2nd method might be good but you'll loose warranty.
I honestly recommend the 1st one as it has less risk involved.
But remember everything you do is at your own risk.
Anyways there is a thanks button below ?
Edit: hey I just noticed that you have an LLD-AL10 C675. So there's a new update B188. You can find it in firmware finder. It is approved and goes with your varient. Use the dns method. Refer above for details
Hello
I finally managed to update my Honor 9Lite
1 - You must remove all updates from EMUI
2 - Go in Huawei Firmware Finder find the right version for your Smartphone (I took a Fuul OTA 188. and check its compatibility
3 - Change your Internet Connection with Proxy Settings as requested by Firmware Finder
4 - Go to system settings and start checking for updates
An update will be found and it is good that you have selected in Firmware Finder.
5 - Start the update, when the download starts 1% pause it.
6 - Shut down the Wifi resume download with 4G.
7 - Once the download is done the update is done by itself do not interrupt it-
8 - The phone restarts and check that the update has gone well
For me everything went well
Thank you all for your advice :good::good::good:
Have a good day
