after trying CM on my desire C and being unhappy with the battery performance, i wanted to return to a sense rom. i did a full wipe (factory reset/cache/dalvik) , flashed the rom for revolution sense 5, and pushed the boot.img files to the phone with fastboot. i know the phone might take awhile on first boot, but i thought after 10 minutes something was wrong.
now every rom fails to boot, even if i use the stock rom and kernel, it stick at the white htc logo screen. i've tried several roms, and moved to cwm 6.0.3. the only thing i haven't tried is going back to stock recovery. i'd like to avoid that.
any suggestions?
joe
edit: i did manage to successfully reinstall CM10. not sure why none of the sense based roms will work. i assume the stock rom is also sense based.??
It's because if you install CM mod, you also installed file named boot.img which is kernel file. Unfortunately Stock rom doesn't work with modified Kernel (and I tell it from my experience), so if you want to go back to stock ROM you need to download stock Kernel file too.
So here are some tips to revert back to stock:
1) Boot in Fastboot
2) Install stock boot.img via Desire_C_All-In-One_Kit_v2.0
3) Boot into Recovery
4) Wipe all data
5) Wipe cache
6) Install stock rom
Your phone should be back with stock ROM and Kernel
I unlocked my ZR's bootloader and tried installing these roms:
Carbon Rom
Beanstalk
LiquidSmooth
But after installing any of these, my phone wont boot completely.
It goes past the SONY screen and loads the animation of the rom that i flashed, the animation still goes on - it is not stuck.
This goes on for like half an hour and still does not go any further.
I will explain the steps i followed.
1. Unlocked bootloader
2. flashed the boot.img of the corresponding rom
3. booted to recovery -- vol up
4. Wipe data/ fac reset
5. wipe cache partition and Dalvik
6. installed the rom and rebooted
Is there anything else i am missing here ?

go in mounts & format system with all othe wipes
& try
+1 if the ROM animation is shown then rom must boot up
plz try again
You have to boot the stock firmware first.
Flash a stock rom
Boot it properly
Turn off the phone
Flash the custom rom kernel using fastboot
Do your wipes
Install the custom rom zip
The phone should boot properly now

I followed your instructions.
I flashed a .310 rom first and rooted it.
then unlocked my bootloader -- i got a bootloop
I powered off the device and flashed the rom's kernel and wiped everything except external sdcard
booted to recovery and flashed the rom and rebooted.
I am getting the same issue.

I,ve used omni rom for a while and decided to switch to amcha rom, my phone didnt boot after first flash, just at boot logo. After second flash my phone booted but no network and watermark in the attachment appeared..
I had done this backup before, but my phone wouldn`t appear on the port setup so backup was impossible.

Tried flashing stock rom 4.3 (using new bootloader),
didnt boot. E3 recovery told me that /efs cannot be mounted, so did twpr recovery when installing some roms. I managed to find out only amcha rom booted.
Roms tried: sentinel rom
Stock
Amcha
Omni
I have the backup file in format .qcn but how could i restore it?
I`dd really appreciate any help!

You have to do all wipes and then flash Stock again.Try this.
Did all wipes, flashed via odin. Didn't boot up. Flashed custom kernel (AGNI PURESTOCK), then booted...
Still same watermark and wont connect with qpst.
Any ideas?
Hi all!
I flashed my recovery to TWRP and ever since then, I always get stuck in bootloop no matter what custom ROM I try. Flashing back to stock rom via ODIN works.
It's been a while since I've tinkered with custom ROMs so I may be missing something. Any ideas on where to start?

Hi,
Which phone ? i9305 or i9300 ?
Which version of TWRP do you use ?
You should try latest version of TWRP (2.8.7.3).
Or try Philz touch Recovery 6.48.4 or 6.59.
1.Repeat ODIN step to stock rom
2.Root the phone by kingroot (as it's doesn't required pc)
3.After rooting, Download Cwm rom manager
4.Install Cwm by selecting your phone model and etc
5.flash it directly from the apps
6.now you can flash any rom ( please backup your system for your safety)
Whichever flashing method I use (TWRP, fastboot) Whichever rom I use (I tried clean stock, pre rooted, MM, LP, backups), I can't get past the animation screen. Even restoring a backup through TWRP gets stuck at the same spot. The only ROM that works is LineageOS (based on Android 7.1). I tried wiping various combinations of dalvik cache, data, cache, system, internal storage - still always stuck on boot animation. I tried leaving it for a long time always, the longest was over 2 hours. I feel like I'm missing wiping something since it seems like the issue is going from a 7.1 rom down maybe?
More info: I was using SLiM ROM (MM 6.0.1) for a while but it got extremely slow and poor battery life after a while. I flashed LineageOS for Z3C and it worked fine, but wasn't my cup of tea, so I wanted to go back to stock-based. I figured I'd try eXistenZ (MM 6.0.1). The instructions said to be on 23.5.A.1.291 first, then root it, and then flash the existenz zip. I didn't downgrade to .291 the first time and it didn't work. Second time I flashed a stock D5803_23.5.A.1.291 (which booted up normally). Went through the rooting process (as seen here), and that worked fine. But the next step of flashing eXistenz didn't work. I tried again from the start, but this time I couldn't boot into after flashing 23.5.A.1.291 again. This is where the problem started. I tried Slim and various roms using fastboot, various versions of twrp, and even a 6.0.1 backup through twrp. Always regardless of ROM, it gets stuck on boot animation. Except for LineageOS.
Hi, I'm in the exact same situation, I have Lineage OS 7.1 installed and I can't go back to any custom ROM based on Android 6.0 stock, all I get is always a bootloop. The only other ROM I can install is Sony stock via Flashtool. I really don't know what the problem is, please let me know if you manage to solve this weird problem.
Install old twrp, wipe /apps_log.
Or use emma to get a clean device again.
I solved the issue installing stock Android 6.0 with Flashtool, twrp 3.0.2 and then flashing ROM. :good:
