This happened to me when I went from stock rooted to Twisted 6 MM (http://forum.xda-developers.com/tmo...mkernel-twisted-sixx-mm-v1-epd1-4-25-t3366230)... I tried a couple of different things and nothing worked so I ended up using a reputable online site that did sim unlocking and did it that way. Paid $15. You have to go through the T-Mobile Device Unlock app after you have a sim unlock code and then restart the phone with the new SIM. If you are the original owner of the Tmobile S6 and can provide your original proof of purchase you can call Tmobile and they will provide you an unlock code for free.

Carrier unlock a G920T permanently

Hi guys,
I need some clarification re: carrier unlocking and how it works. I recently purchased a carrier unlocked G920T, and I was going to start messing with custom roms/kernels and other goodies. My question is: Will the phone revert back to being locked if I do a factory reset or if I unlock the bootloader and flash custom roms?
I'm not a T-Mobile user, so I can't get another unlock code from them.
Thanks!!
The G920T has a carrier unlocked version, which is probably the one you have, not the T-Mobile one. Even if it is, usually a carrier unlocked device will remain unlocked forever unless it was unlocked using a different or hacky method, then there is a possibility that it will relock
Sent from my SM-G920T using Tapatalk
Yeahh go ahead, mess with it. when it is carrier unlocked, the software doesn't affect it, unless it is a hacky method like @serio22 said, but there isnt such hacky method for the GS6 so have fun.
If it is a G920T (the T means it's from T-Mobile), then carrier unlocking is not a guaranteed state. I paid T-Mobile the full price to get my GS6 and they "permanently" unlocked it. Then after a OTA software patch all of a sudden it locked itself again and I couldn't use my phone for 2 days while they tried to unlock it. T-Mobile's new device unlocking uses a new system which has the phone "phone home" to their servers to check if you're allowed to use it outside of their network. It happened again when I accepted the Android 5.1.1 OTA. So...beware of T-Mobile's not-very-permanent permanent carrier unlocking.
I am living in india..
My relatives brought me the t model ( i wanted f model instead of i sold in india for quicker updates but got t model...lol )
Anyways,
The moment i inserted my sim, it worked like a charm so its unlocked at the moment.
I dont know how they made payment their or how it was unlocked, but the way used must be legit coz its still stock at the moment without root / recovery etc. .
I read humo saying it can get locked again...
My main question, what are the odds of that happening?
Also since i live in india, i wont be able to contact t mobile via phone/walk in, are there ways i can get it unlocked again?
I dont have the bill too if it matters
i believe they have an app that unlock ur device since that is how i unlocked mine. if not u can try to contact customer service online since u r not in US.
With device unlock app , will i have to pay for unlock my s6 g920t or it'll unlock my device for free.
I have an unlocked s6 tmobile from usa, i heard the flashing stock rom will relock the device.
If the phone will relock then how can i unlock it again?
I'm not sure about flashing a stock ROM relocking the device. Mine re-locked when T-Mobile sent Android security patches. This week I did the Android 6.0 OTA update and it has remained unlocked.
Hey guys! i have a factory unlocked version of s6 tmobile, my question is if i can flash the tmobile MM firmware . My model says "country: cellular south" and the firmware country says us tmobile, so i dont know if i can flash without any problems, (Sorry for my english it sucks) thanks !

Got it done remotely!
I have a Galaxy S6 (SM-G920T) from T-Mobile. It was locked. But it has an "Unlock" app installed by default. I used it and phone was instantly unlocked! Fast, easy and free!
I used to live in the US for a year and bought a g920T. Since i had the requirements i Unlocked and came back to my country but because of a problem, I had to install a stock firmware and now the unlock is gone.
So i'm wondering, if someone with a unlocked phone made firmware backup, remove the IMEI, and send it online would it work? I mean, right now it works just fine, so i can backup my IMEI and ID and just restore it if needed.
Please help

Galaxy S6 relocked itself to T-Mobile after 7 months ?

Hi everyone,
I've been using an SM-920T 64GB Galaxy S6 bought from T-Mobile last summer. I did a permanent unlock using the T-Mobile application and since July I've been using the phone on the AT&T network. I just rebooted my phone today like I always do and upon restarting I got an "Invalid SIM Card" and it brings up a SIM network unlock PIN window that I can dismiss or enter a code into. What is going on?
I'm running XtreStoLite Deo 2.4 if that makes any difference.
Also, does anyone have the T-Mobile Device Unlock apk that comes stock with the phone? This is how I unlocked the phone in the first place but I don't have that app anymore since I run a custom rom, and the play store won't let me download it because I don't have a t-mobile SIM card in the phone.
Thanks!
Well for the benefit of whoever has the same issue. I flashed back the stock ROM via ODIN, ran the T-Mobile Device Unlock app, it said Unlock Unsuccessful in big, but right below it said the phone has been unlocked permanently. I put in my AT&T SIM and it was working again. Then I flashed back my TWRP backup and the phone remained unlocked. The non-Tmo ROMs get the unlock popup when a foreign SIM card is inserted, so getting an unlock code should work, but I didn't want to wait 3 days to receive one.

Can you tell me what ROM you used? I have the g920T also, and bought it USED unlocked from ebay, but it had the FRP (factory reset protection) lock on it. I had my US cellular SIM card in it, even though I was stuck at the "enter your previous used google account on this device" and the SIM seemed to work (saw the LTE bars above).
But the only way for me to bypass the FRP was to flash to the ROM to stock (which I used the G920T tmobile ROM) and I got to the home screen but now it says "Invalid SIM card. Network locked SIM card inserted" just how you were saying.
When I try using the Tmobile unlock app, it says "Server not responding. Please try again later." .
Please help!

Help unlocking G920T to Metro PCS.

Hi guys, I have been reading for days but can't seem to find a concise guide. I am trying to use a Metro PCS SIM card in a locked TMobile S6.
I have installed twrp and root through Odin, but I can't manage to download the G920T1 firmware anywhere without it failing and forcing me to pay. I have tried sammobile and others.
After I flash the G920t1 firmware will his metro SIM card just work or do I then have to do a SIM unlock as well? Do I use a TMobile or MetroPCS unlock code if I need to SIM unlock?
Also does anyone know of a ROM that will allow me to use his Metro SIM without any of the above nonsense? I downloaded a ROM but I only have my Verizon SIM to test and it asked for an unlock code.
Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance!
EDIT: After checking Android file host I found a link to the latest G920t1 firmware. Downloading now in hopes this gets me one step closer. https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=24591000424951428
Well I got the Metro PCS software running fine and when following this guide on unlockbase it says I just need this TMobile/MetroPCS unlock code and to put in the new SIM card and it should work.
https://blog.unlockbase.com/unlock-samsung-galaxy-s6-tmobile-usa/
https://www.unlockbase.com/service.php?id=775
Will report back later this week after purchasing the unlock code and attempting to input it.
One other note is when booting to stock recovery it warms me of multi csc. Its my understanding that this interferes with OTA updates. Is there anyway to fix the multi csc so my friend can take the metro pcs OTA updates or will I have to manually update them for him each time a new one comes out?

Your best bet is leaving it on tmobile rom.. if it's unlocked it's unlocked the sim will work just fine... just because you're using a different sim doesn't mean you gotta change roms
Leave it on what the device actually is, and let the unlock code make anything work for you
The S6 development is pretty dead and you will only really find updates for ours first, and if it's an original Tmobile device.. keep it on that, it's unlocked to work with anything but you don't have to flash anything specific to it G920T Use tmobile stock rom, unlock it and move on and do your business.. install twrp, get root , maybe a custom kernel and or rom?
If you root and leave stock recovery you're gonna have deep sleep issues, there hasn't been any MAJOR updates in awhile and it's only gonna go slower and slower with our device getting replaced by S7's and Note 7's
Roms will be updated to newer firmware bases, and JUST the bootloader and modem files will be online to quick flash within 2 minutes in odin to be updated then flash a updated rom base to the newer firmware if any future releases come.
Don't know too much about CSC sorry about that, but hopefully I at least get you on the right track?
The phone is locked. TMobile has the SIM unlock from the dialer disabled on the s6 firmware. You have to go through them to get it unlocked which my friend is currently unable to do, due to issues with payment on his account. I checked his imei and it says it's all good so I assume a traditional SIM unlock using the Metro pcs software should work.
I wasn't going to root or install twrp as this friend has no need for either and is fine staying on the stock software.

Firmware refuses to switch, why?

Hi there,
I bought a Verizon Note 9 and switched the firmware to T-Mobile, by first flashing the unlocked firmware, and then flashing the Tmobile fimware. I ended up with a complete "TMobile-ized" Note 9 with the splash screen and all that. During this process I had the TMobile SIM inserted
Now I am looking to switch back to Verizon firmware (long story!). So, I flashed the unlocked firmware, and then flashed the Verizon firmware. However, this time, I am still getting the TMobile flash screen... yet, still see some verizon apps on the home screen. I am also getting TMobile specific prompts. During this process I DID NOT have the Verizon SIM inserted.
Why is that? Why am I not getting the Verizon splash screen?
Do I need to insert the Verizon SIM to get the Verizon splash screen?

Your best bet would be to insert a Verizon SIM while on your current T-Mobile firmware, then flash back to unlocked (with the Verizon SIM still inserted), and then flash back to the VZW firmware.

Unlocked Samsung Note 9 on T-Mobile is now locked??

I have a fully unlocked Samsung Note 9 (N960U model) that I was using with Ultramobile which uses T-Mobile. I popped in my Simcard and phone rebranded it's self as a T-Mobile phone which is typical. I switched carriers and now with Straight Talk and using a Verizon simcard. Phone is still showing up as T-Mobile when it reboots and even has the T-Mobile bloatware.
I went on Sammobile and flashed the Verizon firmware using Odin and that did nothing as the phone still is showing as T-Mobile. I tried flashing the Unlocked firmware (XAA) and same story, once phone reboots, still shows as being T-Mobile. I even brought it to BestBuy and had them flash the Verizon firmware to no avail....
Is it permanently locked to T-Mobile even though the phone it's self is unlocked? HELP!
When you had the T-Mobile SIM installed, did you check to see if the T-Mobile Device Unlock app was installed & if so, did you run it to check the unlock status?
I know phones don't re-lock themselves, just considering the possibilities.....
One other thing:
When using ODIN to change firmware/etc..... if you didn't before, try changing the firmware w/o the SIM Card installed.
Outside of the above, I'm out of suggestions.
I have a T-Mobile Note 9 & used to test unlocked betas of Android 9 w/o any issues.

Funny you say that, the T mobile Device unlock app did install it's self. It tells me the device is network locked (Obviously isn't since it was originally an AT&T phone) and when I click continue, the server is not responding and that would be expected since this isn't even a Tmobile branded phone! My issue is Some of the APN settings on Verizon are different than TMobile and I can't get VolLTE. Any ideas...?
Interesting, never tried Odin without Sim card...When I did flash the unlocked and Verizon firmware and phone rebooted, the phone recognized there was a different carrier sim and rebooted (It did this when I first unlocked it from AT&T and went to Tmobile) but instead of re-branding or switching to a Verizon phone, it just reboots and still stuck with T-Mobile firmware. I want to be clear also, phone works fine with the exception of MMS and VolLTE which I believe I would get back once I switch to a Verizon firmware
I know this doesn't solve the SIM Unlock issue, but, have you manually changed the APN for the SIM Card you're using?

I did, I changed it to Straight Talk Verizon APNs settings. I just don't know how T-Mobile can lock my phone....
Some of the MNVO's Sim cards don't have all the data as the man brand in my experience I would get a Verizon Sim I've had the same problem use it to do the carrier change then install your regular Sim
[/COLOR]I have a T-mobile sim card in my Unlocked Verizon note 9 and it says its locked as well but it isn't. Just change the sim card and it will work just fine. If there is tmobile software left on it you will may have to flash your firmware to get rid of it. If there is T mobile software left you will have to flash your firmware to get rid of it.
My Verizon branded Note 9 is SM N960U. How is yours unlocked?
