Locked Mi Account - Xiaomi Mi 5 Questions & Answers

Hey guys I just bought in China used Mi5,
Seller told me that i can't log in Mi account, so now I can't update my MIUI rom,
Miui version is 7.2.12.0 can someone tell me how to remove binding from old account and install clean Global Stable rom?

Download the version you want (i suggest the Global Developer version) and put it in the Download_rom map of the phone.
Then start the Update software, choose from menu for installing downloaded rom and choose the downloaded version.
After that, you can register online an own (new) MI account.
If the phone is still bootloader locked you can ask for unlock permissions on your new account.
If already unlocked, just connect you new MI account with the phone.
Last step can be done from the developer version in the developer menu.

I am not sure if i understand correctly, but the bootloader will not get locked just from the upgrade.
It can get locked by a full new install via the MI flash software (if you want that).
You can simply logout from the current Mi account, so the phone is not mapped to that old account.
Make a new Mi account if you don't have it, and login on the phone with that account.
If the phone is bootloader locked, wait 24 hours after login and then request unlock permissions.
But yours was already unlocked i thought.

Ok, then start by logging out the MI account.
You will not need a password for that, just go to settings and find the MI account and logout.

If you have a MIUI without Mi account in the settings, then i think you have a custom rom and not the original China or Global rom.
If you follow my steps, then you will not lock the bootloader.
Download the Global Developer or the China Developer version and put in on the phone in the Download_rom directory.
Start the Update App.
Push on the 3 dots (menu) button on the top right.
Choose for 'Other rom' or something like that.
Choose the downloaded full version rom and choose install.
That will give you a developer version with the Mi account option and it will not lock your phone.

I think your device is bypassed Mi account lock for temporary .
device can lock after firmware update or factory data reset , please be careful

Redmi 3s
bootloader is unlocked in my device. i frequently shift between miui and stock rom. Once when i came back to miui rom from stock, everything came up, but i got a screen saying "mi account is locked" and it wants me to verify the account. So when i entered the password of the mi account, it says "cant verify, cant connect to internet". The thing is im not able to bypass that screen, without bypassing i cant use the phone nor cant enter any app.
Im using global developer rom.
Please help me.

MI8 Brick

Hi there,
unfortunately I bricked my Mi8 during a ROM Flash. I could not see the options as they were "hidden" because of the resolution of my screen. And unfortunately the standard option seems to be "lock", so it did and now I cannot flash any ROM anymore.
Is the method with opening the phone and get in touch with a doggy service to unlock it still up date?
Is there anything I could do? Will Xiaomi help me if I write them an email?
Help would be much appreciated.
Well, not knowing what you flashed and how you did it, it's hard to give an advice.
Can you boot to recovery, fastboot?
If you want some "output" you have to give more "input".
Is you phone recognized if you connect it to the pc? Perhaps you can revive it with mi flash and a complete rom (tgz). Be aware of the danger of relock!
I know I did a mistake as i flashed it wrong as I did not choose the correct setting (just clean instead of clean and lock). I did not see the options when I did the flash as they were "hidden". The Bootloader is locked and therefore I cannot flash another ROM.
I can get into fastboot, no problem. But I cannot load a ROM (Bootloaderbis locked).
I do wonder if there is any way instead of opening the phone and get in touch with a commercial unlocker service.

Can't you simply use the bootloader unlock tool from MI?
Unfortunately not, it stops at the second point and tells me that this is not connected to my mi account.

Wipe data and try again. What's the issue with "resolution of screen"?
Why would the wipe help? I guess all data is errased anyway because iIflashed a fastbootrom via mi flasher. The problem was that a portion of the program (mi flasher) was hidden, the part on the bottom where you choose which flashmethod. Therefore standard is lock device and that happened...

Is your device a Global or Chinese device and how long ago did you buy it and where from? If the bootloader was unlocked when you attempted to flash whatever you flashed then it was unlocked by someones account. Are you saying that you did not unlock it?
If you did unlock it yourself, then you can unbrick it. If someone else unlock the bootloader you should try contacting that person to get their id and password to unlock the device again, and then you can remove their account from the device and replace it with yours.

Since you have fastboot
You need to download the fastboot rom for whichever device you own. Also, your phone must be clean, you will lose all data.
Mi8 Global Rom: https://c.mi.com/oc/miuidownload/detail?device=1700346
Chinese Mi 8 Rom : http://www.miui.com/download-345.html
Unpack the Rom, on your desktop and then place your phone into EDL Mode or fastboot. - The fastboot Rom comes with the Fastboot flashall script, it will fully restore your phone to the a Stable Rom and Overwrite every partition..
If you unpack the rom and it unzips into a larger version of the rom, unpack the new unpacked larger version, it will unpack into a folder, inside the folder local the flashall.bat file and with the phone connected double click it and wait 5 to 10 minutes until it reboots by itself, you will see the screen to connect to wifi, and then to add you account credentials, enter credentials, enjoy your restored phone.

You don't, ( well not anymore) you only pay someone to unlock if you do not have your account bound to the device. The person that you would pay has a vendors master unlocking account, these are very limited and these people are mostly located in Russia and Vietnam.

Hi there,
that brings some light into the darkness, although I am did not completely understood all you wrote.
1. I bought the device used in Germany and it is the German version. It was unlocked and I installed Havoc OS which worked fine. Then I thought I should update Havoc OS and that'S what I did. This ended in a Bootloop. I went into the Recovery and it was kinda weird as it asked me in chinese to enter my pattern. I did and after that the touchscreen stopped working. Still could get into recovery and also install a new one via fastboot. But same problem. Then I googled and as I understood the solution to other people was an earlier MIUI ROM which I installed via the Mi Flash tool and here I am chosing the wrong selection for the flash and ending up in a brick.
2. I don't have the device connected to my MI account. So I guess I need someone with a vendor account? S Unlock also offers a software (one has still to pay) which works without the help of someone logging into and using e.g. Teamviewer. (at least that is their claim)
3. I cannot connect the device with MI flash and therefore no flash of a ROM is possible which brings me to
4. In any case, I for sure have to ****ing open the phone and play with the EDL Touchpoints? Right?
If one has any further ideas let me know, I am really fed up with this ****.

Okay that better explains your real issue
You had an issue with the lockscreen, which could had been resolved by removing encryption ( formatting user data ) by using ADB or using the Tool All in One. ) Unfortunately, you misunderstood what the issue was and flashed a rom without unchecking unlock bootloader.
Since the bootloader has been relocked, you may need the original account info that unlocked the bootloader. ( If it's still bound to the device) If possible contact the person that you bought the phone from and get their account, then you can use the steps that I listed above by placing the phone into EDL.
If you are asked for a Mi account password, after restoration, then the phone is absolutely still bound to the previous owners account.
You do not necessarily need to open the phone :
You can probably use ADB to place the phone into EDL mode : adb reboot edl
You can use an EDL cable Such as this one
On some phones it is possible to enter EDL by pressing and holding the power button and the volume up and down simultaneously, you can very that the phone is in EDL by connecting it to your PC then go to Control Panel/System/ports <<<< Here you will see port 9008, that means you are in EDL mode.
After installing fastboot rom via flash all.bat method
After connecting to WIFI, you may be asked for the Mi Cloud account (if linked) If so contact the previous owner for that account info, then once the phone has gone through setup, remove the account from the phone in settings/Backup ( It is also possible that the phone is not bound to a account) If no account is linked then you will be able to link a new account and then wait 72 to 360 hours to be able to re-unlock the bootloader.
If the phone is bound to a previous user,
The only option is to use a reputable service company who has a master unlock account. if this is indeed the case, you should try contact Xiaomi and see if they can recommend someplace close to where you live.
@berndbrecht
I just found out via the Mi-Globe website that a XDA member has an official Xiaomi Unlock account and the price is extremely fair: I would suggest contacting @NikSalsa
You can read the same article that I did here : https://mi-globe.com/unbrick-your-xiaomi-phone-without-authorized-mi-account/

Cannot unlock bootloader - chinese error message

Hi,
I've bought the Mi 9T Pro on Amazon.
So far, everything works fine besides the fact that I get an error message in chinese while using the Mi flash unlocker to unlock the bootloader.
Mi account logged in. Since I don't have a nano-sim yet for my main number I've used my spare card to activate it.
Anyone fluent in chinese what might be missing here?
https://imgur.com/w1QJIoT
Best regards
Chris
The message says that the device has been locked via the MI find my device service. Is the number your account? If so, you will have to unlock your device first via find my device.

Any idea how or where I can remove that completely?
Edit: the number is not my primary under which I've registered my other Mi devices. But I've used it once to unlock my dad's Mi Mix 3, which is also registered with my Mi account.

If the displayed account is your account, you should be able to just head to i.mi.com and unblock your own device. If it's someone else's account number, that means someone has marked it stolen or otherwise locked.
Alright, after cutting my sim I continued. After updating the MiUi Flasher I get now errors in English.
New error: "Current account is not bound to this device. Enable it under dev options -> Mi Unlock status."
I did exactly that - I inserted the sim, went to this options, and ticked link to account. fter that I got a message "linked successfully". In fastboot mode in the flasher I get the same exact error again. The phone does not seem to be recognized by the Mi account and is thus not listed in the Mi cloud.
Any ideas what went wrong and how to fix it?

Log in to the Mi Flash Tool using the phone number of the SIM that's in the phone and was used to register the phone for unlocking (when you go to developer settings, unlock status)
This normally happens because the phone number wasn't registered on your Mi account before starting the unlock process.
That was the error, ty very much. I did always login with my email. After the phone number it did show a timer.
PS: a whole week now? No idea why they prolong it each time...

Might have been due to an older version of the Mi flash tool. After I updated it, it was in english. Maybe the older version did not have support for the global Mi 9T and thought I have a chinese K20 Pro.

Locked bootloader | MiUI version can't be installed on this device | OEM block

Hello all!

I can't unlock boot-loader for install new rom again because Mi Unlock give me a message "Please add your account in MIUI's settings > developer option > Mi unlock status"
Before this, i successfully installed same rom file but with option "flash_all.bat" and it worked.
How i can fix this?

You have hard bricked your phone. It can only be fixed by EDL flashing with an authorised Mi account, which are accounts used by authorised repair centres.
You can not cross flash regional ROMs and lock the bootloader
https://c.mi.com/thread-2584760-1-0.html
Easiest way to fix it is to get an authorised repair centre to restore the phone. If there is none near you it can be done yourself, with assistance.
To put the phone in EDL mode, you need to open the back of the phone and bridge 2 pins near the battery. To flash it you need to find someone with an authorised account who will remote desktop to your PC and flash the phone - for a fee of $25-$50 US
Search the forums on EDL flashing for exact details of the pin locations.
Ask on Xiaomi/Mi 9T Pro telegram groups for contact details of someone who can remotely flash your phone - as it's against XDA policy to 'promote' paid services here. XDA mods have actively removed posts that contain contact details of people who can remote flash Xiaomi devices for a fee.

Are you sure the phone is not stolen?
I format+download my REDMI 9. The device is mine, but I deleted MI account before to log out my phone and now I can't restore it and my device fallen into a black screen every time I connect it on internet.
Format+download doesn't resolve your issue.
Maybe the mainboard code is stored in other partition and every time you connect to web, the Mi cloud application look for the code into XIAOMI SERVER and lock the phone.
The only way is to find a modified ROM without mi cloud application or find the way to deleted application using any software without connect device to web.
I think that it is a big mistake of xiaomi.
If I deleted my account, automatically lets free all device connected, or if your issue is the privacy, instead lock a black screen, create a button that allow you only to wipe all data so all stored informations will be lost and you can use it.

Question bootloader unlock, account not authorised

Hi a while ago i unlocked my boot loader and after a long time not using the phone i locked the boot loader,,im trying to unlocvk again using same account andit keeps saying account not authorised. even though im using same account.??
i also logged into mi website to post there and as soon a click post it says banned from posting??
is there anything right about xiaomi that just works??
How do i get over this hurdle of unlocking boot loader again?
Regards
I guess You have to apply again for unlock with MiFlash_Unlock tool and wait 168 hours. If this account is bugged you can try a new account. As far as i know this is the only method to unlock bootloader on xiaomi phones.
so i deleted account and recreated new account with same number now it says please add your account to miui settings > developer settings >mi unlock status...which i have done and it says successfully added but every time i go to unlock keeps saying the same above thing to add to your account....
Are you using latest version Mi Unlock ?

That's a strange issue. I've never had problems unlocking the bootloader of my Xiaomi phones.
Try remove your Mi account (in settings) , reboot , then log in again . Then add back the account in developer setting.
And try run as administrator option , when opening Mi unlock app.

And try run as administrator option , when opening Mi unlock app.

I tried that still no go. Tomorrow I’m making a new account with new email and new number and see what happens.

once you added the new account dont add it anymore because you are resetting the 168 hours timer. i think you just have to wait 7 days and try to unlock with the mi unlock tool

You can try a factory reset. It may fix the problem.

Tried that too and reinstalled the rom from scratch. Still same issue. I have a feeling it’s my old number and email associated to that account that might be causing the issue as it’s been used before to unlock boot loader? but tomorrow new email new number. Let’s see. Will update.
Regards.
If you have deleted the old account before creating a new one it should not cause a problem. But yeah delete all accounts connected to this phone number and make a new account with a different email. Good luck buddy! Tell us what happened after that
so made new account with gmail and new number and followed these steps and downloaded unlock tool from here and it all worked finally, now it says wait 168 hours
downloaded unlock tool from https://en.miui.com/unlock/download_en.html
and updated it,
followed these instructions and used us as region when creating account but used uk number
one thing i did was make an account via email first on the website and set region to us, once account was created i logged in at the website and added recovery number through there, then logged in to xiaomi account oh phone and it showed up.
Make a Mi account through Google and set the region to US - it's important to set the region to US... EU gave me the rebind error
Add the Mi account to your phone (settings -> Mi Account)
Set the recovery phone on your Mi account and verify the phone number.
Make sure you have OEM Unlocking and USB Debugging enabled
Go to Mi Unlock status -> add account (make sure you're on data)
In your PC download the latest Mi Unlock Tool (click on the gear icon and check for updates + download if there are any)
In the same gear menu check for USB Drivers and install them
Log into the same Mi account in the Unlock tool
Enter Fastboot on your phone
Unlock (it may prompt you to wait 168 hours, but after that you should be able to unlock)
patiently awaiting now
Regards

Well I was this close to selling the thing if this last step didn’t work. But now will install eu rom as that’s what I had before and it worked good.
Only reason I changed to iPhone was it worked better with my Audi as the direction part on google maps on android auto took up quite a fair bit of the screen which was annoying.
Still does but worked out how to change it from the right side of the screen to the left which is a tad better I guess.

Hi Guys
a little update
as I am waiting for the days to countdown to unlock bootloader, I decided to go to work on the current miui14 Chinese rom, I deleted all the installed Chinese apps all the bloatware completely, activated google play services, installed play store, installed all my current apps, duplicated this phone and the home screen layout exactly to my iPhone set up, logged into my cards and banking apps without any issues, installed vanced YouTube and premium Spotify and as well as a couple no longer available apps.. set everything to English, deleted baidu and mifly keyboard installed google keyboard, and its exactly like how I would have it as if the boot loader was unlocked with a eu.rom.
now if I can get all this without unlocking bootloader all through a Chinese rom, why would i want to go through the headache of unlocking the bootloader to install a eu rom which is based on this very Chinese rom I believe?
can anyone suggest any reasons as to why anyone would go through the bootloader headache, unless I forgot something that i do that i haven't done via this route that might pop to mind later.
Regards
AF

I didnt like the Chinese rom because:
1)the search engine (when you swipe up on home screen) is chinese and u cant change it.
2)"Ok Google" voice command was not working (or was buggy) if i remember correctly.
3) There were some other things that were coming up in chinese but i dont remember exactly what.
4) Many apps were not working in the background and i was not receiving notifications even when i locked those apps, put them on "no restriction" and enabled "auto start".
5) I saw many good bonus features that the EliteRom has (gets updates every 1 or 2 weeks, based on xiaomi.eu weekly) and decided to try it. So far i really like it!
But if you are okay with the Chinese ROM, u can stick with it
Hello guys. I maybe have the same problem.
I add my account to miui unlock in developer options and it saya, successful. But when I'm trying to unlock it crashes in 99% saying u have to add my account... Tried over 20 times adding, re adding, format, etc but nothing...

Make sure you use the app provided in link in my original post as after using a new email and new number I downloaded the unlock app from that link as the one I was using before had a different layout and kept giving that darn issue.

Of course, I'm not getting a message for waiting time, but for not entering my account
