My verizon, and verizon voicemail on custom roms. - Verizon Motorola Droid Turbo Q&A, Help & Troublesh

Is anyone having problems with these apps on custom roms? I am using RR 7.1 (first one), The app doesnt seems to recognize it as my phone. I am currently on hold with tier 2, whom cant seem to resolve the problem. I actually gave up on the verizon voicmail app and went to google voice. But alas, being able to see my data usage is quite convienient.
thanks in advance and sorry if this post offends, or is in wrong forum, or is a stupid question and all the other usual hurdles

you must grant the my verizon app the permissions it asks for in order for it to recognize your phone, you can deny the location permission later. VVM is hit or miss, i had it working on 7.1 crdroid but had to try a few times for it to finally setup.

I have the same problem with My Verizon, but I can use VVM just fine. Verizon might have updated the app to insist that it only be accessed from the device it expects. These CM 14.1 based roms have a different fingerprint than the stock rom.
Also, I'm surprised that Verizon did anything after you told them you had flashed a custom rom. That's pretty much the biggest excuse they have to not help you at all.

Haha so you just told them it wasn't working and you had not the slightest inkling as to why? No wonder tech support hates their jobs.

Well I honestly thought it was their end as the error message originally said I was temporarily locked out.

I wonder if its possible to recreate said fingerprint..

Verizon updated their app today and now started working properly

Uninstalled ItsOn, now problems

So, I made the mistake of uninstalling ItsOn on my Sprint HTC One M8. Now I am unable to use data, sms, make calls, wifi report it's unstable. What the hell is going on? I have attempted to reinstall an RUU and even after that I get the same errors. I am on the verge of going into the Sprint store tomorrow for a replacement. I called HTC and they think the SIM card might be bad. I checked it and it looks fine. Is there something I can reinstall to fix this or is my phone dead just from that one uninstall?
Try flashing a stock 4.4.4 rom it will come stock with itson. Then do a ##72786# reset to attempt to restore your original data settings. Which way did you remove itson?
I used ROM Toolbox to uninstall ItsOn. I have reinstalled a stock rom on my phone in the hopes it would restore, but I still can not use any of the radios. This is crazy.
Just speculating. I almost wonder if this ItsOn also handles the phones antenna encryption. Possible there is some partician this is saved on and by uninstalling it I also wiped the partician. Add in the RUU do not contain it. Either way, guess I have to stop in at the Sprint store today and get a replacement.
ItsOn is in the /carrier partition aswell you cannot simply remove it. To attempt to fix your problem can you go into ##3282# and enter your msl go into data profile and hit restore and reboot. Also to remove itson on a stock rom flash this in recovery https://www.dropbox.com/s/md83hn4um0i5p09/Remove_ItsOn.zip?dl=0
Crud, don't think I have the MSL number.
If you are s-off download msl reader from play store otherwise youll have to get it from sprint

Now that I think about it. I think Sprint tech support had me do this. I recall a menu where it did this last night.
Most techs will give you the ##786# code to do this. Try a simpler ##72786# that one wont require msl
Ok, got the code and ran what you said. Still dead. HTC just had me do a recovery wipe. I think this is hardware related now. Software would have been restored at some point. I would think it would have restored once I loaded the RUU stock ROM.
Possibly, You could always try to connect to a wifi and do a handsfree activation aswell
All these "fixes" are speculation, I couldnt know your exact problems unless i had the device in hand. Just know Im trying

Lol, I better hope it's hardware. I figured it best to come clean with HTC and let them know it was rooted. So, they will have their diagnosis team look at it and if they determine the root caused it then I might be out some $$$ for the repair of it.
Still don't see how the root could cause this in the end. Unless there is a section that the RUU doesn't get.

Id hold your tongue on that, HTC doesnt really care too much they just see it as a defective device and they RUU themselves and if that doesnt fix it they pretty much use it as spare parts or remelt and rebuild a new one that will work. silence and claiming ignorance is key to winning them over lol

Bit late on that. I told the care personel over chat that I did. They still offered the swap program that they were offering in the beginning. We'll see what happens. Dunno if they tag my account with regards to it or not. I just was thinking since the bootloader says **relocked** they might notice that and freak.

First time warrantying a phone, let alone a smart phone. Wasn't sure. Will remember that in the future. Guess I should always remember the human condition. Everyone is lazy.
Lesson learned on this though. Do not uninstall ItsOn. Just in case this truly is a software issue. Though I doubt it.
BTW, does that uninstaller you sent me work? Is it based on the Bad Boyz uninstaller? I'm just a bit leary after this experience to attack that again. Though I do not like it using 40% of my battery.

Use Samsung Kies
good question on the counter, I have restarted my phone and have not seen it, Buuut I did freeze knox though. As far as updating Use Kies took about 10 mins
USB audio?
I got the Lollipop update this morning through T-mobile. It was smooth to update, and I haven't noticed battery issues or anything others had reporter.
However, I was super-excited for Lollipop, because it allows for USB microphones. And I've tried all 5 of the ones I own without success. I tried Samsung support, which was useless. They weren't even aware of the feature.
Do you think it's possible that Samsung or T-mobile bypassed this native feature to Lollipop? I was connecting via OTG cable. I haven't tried mic to powered hub to OTG yet, because I've seen Nexus owners on Lollypop just connect USB microphones via OTG.
I'd be grateful for any advice any of you gurus have out there. I am not rooted or running anything custom. I've been fairly happy with stock. But, like I started with, I was all the while looking forward to this Lollypop update for portable recording via USB. Is there something I'm missing? Thanks.
Downloading as I type...I'm sure I am wasting my time since I been rocking BeanStalk 5.0.2, but my curiosity is making me just give it a look and see how it works. It'll be nice to use the S-Pen features again, but Lollipop without all the bs that samsung and tmo put on there has been nothing short of amazing.
Why have the note 4 when you can have PURE android just like you want with the new 6 inch moto. But whatever guess I will never understand why people will buy a car. Strip it off its goods (rims/system/under the hood upgrades) just to have a classic stripped stock vehicle? I mean already having the features why give then away? I will never understand

Assuming that you're talking about the Nexus 6/Moto X Pro, there's no need to debate/discuss why I would want TouchWiz on ANY level, which is why I was close to buying a Nexus 6. Honestly though, for me, while the Nexus 6/Moto X Pro isn't a bad phone(they're both really great phones), they lost me with no way to add extra storage or remove your battery if needed. In addition, while I have been running Beanstalk for the last few weeks, I still think the S-Pen is a really great feature to have on the Note 4. There's really no need to go into details about which phone is better, because it will always come down to preference, but in regards to your comment, it's not as stripped down as you present it to be.

No attitude here, everyone is entitled to their opinions. I am certainly not hating on you for what you're saying and personally, in many(maybe most) aspects, those are flat out better phones than the Note 4. I just installed this bs lollipop so now as I type, I am flashing back to BeanStalk. The lack of a removable battery i could live with, but the expandable storage is a necessity for me, the only reason I am staying with the Note 4 since most phones that are coming out are converting to that style.

You do not need to install gapps on stock ROMs. They are included. Installing them as a zip will break them. So, factory reset (or fresh install), and don't flash gapps.

Hey. Thanks for the reply. I actually didn't install gapps over the stock ROM. Not sure what it didn't like installing over Beanstalk. I did a wipe before I installed via kies. Anyway, I resolved by doing a factory reset, like you said. Did two actually. All is well now, thanks.

Google Fi 5.1.1 Build Issue

Strange issue. I activated Project Fi yesterday on my Nexus 6 running lmy47z. Everything updated and works fine, however I keep getting prompted to do a system update to 5.1.1. I downloaded it and looked at the log in TWRP and its showing that it's trying to update me to lyz28e. I know lyz28e is the T-Mo build that enabled wi-fi calling among other things. I noticed that in my area I get better T-Mo coverage, hence my phone defaults to T-Mo when I run a *#*#344636#*#*. When I force to Sprint, the issue doesn't happen, however, my coverage is extremely poor, so this is not a good solution.
Here are my questions:
1.) Wi-fi calling already works on lmy47z, why do I need lyz28e?
2.) How do I get the prompt to stop coming up? Project Fi support told me to clear my project fi app cache... this did not work. I don't really want to flash to 28e if I don't have to.

Just a quick update on this, after working with a few different Fi reps and their "higher ups" it was determined that the issue was caused by the build and it's interaction with the network. I flashed to 48C and have not had the issue since.

To clarify, now that your are on the LVY48C build, did the behavior of the phone in automatically switching between Sprint/T-Mobile change?
If anything, it's more seamless now. I haven't noticed anything more pronounced though.

I flashed the rooted version via twrp found here on xda. I'm on my phone so I don't have a direct link, but it's in a thread from one of the mods if you search for the build. It took fine without a full wipe (just wiped the sys and dalvik cache).

No one is bothering to work on an alpha build. Nothing will be done until the OS is released in 7 months or so. This is not meant to be a daily driver.
This is why developers get so upset when these builds are published to normal people.

well to be fair, google is using the phrase "android beta", and making this open as an OTA for a reason. From my usage so far, the N beta seems very daily driver friendly, friendlier than L, M previews were the past two years.
i think these "Devs" you speak of can probably calm their testicles... Unless i'm mistaken, this community is for everyone, regardless of what the website name is.
I'm not here asking for Johnny hacker codemaster extraordinaire to fire up some chillstep and fix this for me. I'm simply posing a question to the community. Perhaps a lowly peasant Joe shmoe has come across something, and would see my post and share.

appreciate the response. Unfortunately, the method i use is via custom recovery with adb, and no luck. I was able to successfully edit the build prop via this method, but the net.tethering.noprovisioning=true line no longer seems to have any effect like it did in Lollipop and Marshmallow.

Yes they did release it for a reason. So app developers have an idea of the changes coming. It is not meant as a daily driver.
You have no idea how people are laughing at requests like this.
No this Alpha build was just released yesterday and to be honest most people that could help with this are not even running it. Only people that dont know better are using it.
tethering works fine right out of the box on N, no need to unlock it. unless you are asking to tether "free" on your provider, then you have to just find your way for now.
This works I just tested it. Im on verizon udp. turn off wifi. First eject sim card (don't need to take it all the way out). turn on hotspot through settings not the quick tile. As soon as you toggle the hotspot on push the sim card back in.

Google made this available as an OTA via the beta program so that even non super elite devs can check it out. Yes it's not meant for daily use, that part is clear on the beta page; yell down from your high horse when you have some inside info that the general public is not aware of.
Once again, this post is CLEARLY NOT a "request" like you're going on about. As an android enthusiast, i'm here discussing the next version of android with other enthusiasts.

I also think this is a perfectly valid question. Posted in the right place. Having absolutely nothing to do with any developers here.

Its different than with marshmellow. You need to toggle the hotspot and push the sim card back in at the same time.

no go for me. Must be something with the APN maybe and/or ATT. more digging.

I don't have many threads about build.prop edits. I speak up against most build.prop editing threads..
Well as tethering is enabled by default then your question is answered. If you want to do it for free then that bypasses a paid service which would make it warez and banned from the site.
If you want to tether then pay for the option. Simple solution.

Just not wanting to have to ban people.
If it is enabled by default then you guys are good.
Bypassing paid services is against the rules. Plain and simple.
I'm guessing when they get root working better, able to write, I bet the old build.prop edit will work fine.

[T-Mobile] May 2nd

Hey TMO, it is now May 2nd 2019. Us 6T owners are wondering if you have forgot about us? We are still running January security update. Maybe throw us a bone to keep us happy for a few more months.

Is there anything keeping you from moving on to the International builds or open beta builds?
Why would anyone want to use the t mobile ROM?

RCS for one. Launcher with Google feed built in without the need to root.
There are a few advantages to the T-Mobile ROM. Not a lot, but a few.

Oh I see I never heard of RCS until you mentioned it. I only booted the stock ROM once before flashing international. I also do not think microg supports Google feeds never used a feed before. How do people admin android without root?
I used to root everything. I just don't have the time anymore plus I din't buy my phone out right and I don't feel like calling TMO to try and get out of the payoff restriction.

I didn't buy phone outright within one hour of taking it home I was boot loader unlocked , sim unlocked and rooted. No need to call t mobile for anything. I only booted the stock operating system once. Which was only because it was required step in the process. They asked me for help in setting up my phone. I sure if you can remove Google play services and seemed to think the phone wouldn't work without Google play services.
I get the desire for RCS,but it's barely used still... I could see it mattering in the future, but as of right now, meh... I got mine unlocked by sweet talking a rep, but MSM tool is great too! As much as I love the Google feed, I simply have a shortcut for it on my home screen so I can quickly go to it if needed... Honestly, the international variant works so much better for me! Sadly, TMO really restricts software updates for so many Android manufacturers, even aside from OnePlus. By the time TMO approve a software update, new patches and updates have already released on the mainstream side.
Wow...figured someone would have mentioned it by now...but anyway. Nova Launcher has a Google Feed plugin where you can just swipe right and you have the Discover feed. No root required.
As for RCS...not that big of a deal for me. I'm using International on my TMO 6T because I got tired of the SLOWWW updates.
I'm confident the T-mobile techs have noticed your demands here on XDA. They are surely working on your requests.
Stand by.

Yeah, I know about the alternatives but they are just not the same as having a dedicated stock launcher with the feed built in. It just seems cleaner to me.
Right now though, I do admit I cant use RCS because no one I know has it. So I went to Beta 9 and am using CPL with the plug in.
I am waiting on my token so I can get off this slow update T-Mobile schedule. I finally got tired of waiting so I called them up and told them I need sim unlock they did it even without phone payoff.

What does sim unlock mean in terms of updates? I am not sure if my sim is locked or not no proper method of testing but omni or carbon ROMs update just fine without official sim unlock. I only used the stock ROM long enough to boot the thing to fastboot to flash the international ROM. I did this inside the t mobile store while they processed the return of my wife's iPhone ten pro or what ever it was. They didn't seem to mind. Odd they let me do it with out the phone being processed yet. Mine was rooted and boot loader unlocked before I got my receipt. Their system was down for processing returns so I was there about an hour.

I find that strange with a locked bootloader. I guess you had a PC with you for all that or did the store let you use theirs. Any how good for you.

Yeah but I would think that the advantages of having newer/faster updates outweigh having to use another launcher or having RCS. Honestly, the OnePlus Launcher leaves a lot to be desired. I got rid of it almost immediately after I got the phone after I saw its huge lack of customization. Used Nova Launcher for years and love it. I won't use these betas though. I use my phone all day and just don't wanna run into annoying bugs lol. Hopefully we get a big new stable update soon.
RCS isnt something I really *NEED*. I can see when a message was delivered...but I'm sure we'll get RCS eventually.

Yeah, I can understand where you are coming from. However I would prefer the T-Mobile software. Each person has there own prerogative. Mine is T-Mo.
