Is it possible to enable LTE band 20? - K3 Note Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I currently get bands 1, 3, 7, 38, 39, 40 and 41.
I suppose 38 - 41 are for China.
Band 20, the 800 MHz digital dividend band is absent.
Is it possible to enable this band, or does the hardware not provide for it?
Thanks

I think it's hardware problem

[Q] No Band 12 for AT&T & TMO

Question here. I was doing some digging. I should receive my Z3 compact phone today. I read that both it and the Z3 phones do not offer band 12. I currently use Straight Talk running off the AT&T bands. Apparently, in 2013 AT&T announced that they picked up band 12. Here is the breakdown of bands used between AT&T and TMO;
AT&T:
4G-LTE Bands 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 12, 17, 20, and 29
4G HSPA+ with enhanced backhaul
3G - UMTS 850/1900/2100MHz
GSM/GPRS/EDGE 850/900/1800/1900MHz
T-Mobile:
Quad Band GSM; UMTS: Band I (2100), Band II (1900), Band IV (1700/2100), Band V (850); LTE: 12, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 17
Is the lack of band 12 causing any issues with Z3/Z3C users using AT&T?
No issues.

Will the Mi5 come with unlockable LTE bands ?

As I've come to believe from various sources the official supported bands are as follows:
4G FDD-LTE bands 1 / 3 / 7
4G TDD-LTE bands 38 / 39 / 40 / 41
3G TD-SCDMA bands 34 / 39
3G WCDMA bands 1 / 2 / 5 / 8
3G CDMA 2000 bands BC0 / BC1
2G GSM bands 2 / 3 / 5 / 8
2G CDMA 1X BC0 / BC1
Now since I live in europe .. my ISP's most used 4g (LTE) band is 20 (800mhz) and so it is not supported..
Will it be possible to unlock this band via QPST - QXDM modification, or has the band been disabled on the hardware side of the chip itself ?
I know it's very early on, but I have been anticipating the arrival of MI5 for months now, only to find a lack of european LTE support ...
thanks in advance for any info !!!
I also wonder this! Would be great for the 4G coverage here in Europe!
I'm also curious about this. If LTE band 20 is unlockable I'll buy one right away
It would be nice to know if it would be possible. I am also very interested in this phone

Well, that does only mean that the device does not officially support others bands. The question however was, if other bands can be unlocked.
FDD-LTE (band 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 12, 13, 17, 18, 19, 20, 25, 26, 27, 28, 29)
TD-LTE (band 38, 39, 40, 41)
TD-SCDMA 1900/ 2000
CDMA EV-DO Rev.A (800, 1700/2100, 1900, 2100mhz)
WCDMA (850, 900, 1700/2100, 1900, 2100)
GSM (850, 900, 1800, 1900)

We'll all just probably have to wait until someone has one in hand and can test some different SIM Card to see what it actually will support... Needless to say though is if someone at least tests with either a TMO SIM or ATT SIM and they work.... one can assume that all 18 bands do... now it's a waiting game

I'm pretty sure it will not have all of those bands. Out of luck if you want to use this and are on Verizon, Sprint, AT&T or T-Mobile.
They just updated the supported bands and they have some of my country.. But I don't understand quite well the difference in the 800hz to 1800 to even 2600.. if for example my device catches the 1800 band but not the others, will the signal be good, or to be perfect in need to pick them all?
Also, higher frequency means better signal?

It won't support AT&T LTE?

Yes is it confirmed ! But if many people say it Xiaomi can't make Lte Global because Samsung and Apple don't want this...
But I'm sure it's not hardware but software and it possible to unlock this ?
And Xiaomi wont to shop in international but in late 2017 and this MI5 there are Lte Global in late 2017 Sorry for people want it me to
The question has not actually been answered: is anyone aware of any possibilities to unlock, via a kernel perhaps, the bands which should be supported by the hardware?
There's a good chance if you can unlock bootloader, Hugo Barra said in an interview that the India version will have those unlocked and not the model sold in China.

Tencent version vs global version

Thinking of grabbing the 12gb ram version. Any reason to get global over china version?
Global not out until late Sept but im waiting re band differences. great site https://www.kimovil.com/en/frequency-checker/AU/asus-rog-phone-2
Some folks have said that bands 66 and 71 will be supported in the Intl version. I hope that’s correct.

Same here. If I cant use volte, that's a no go for me
It seem the 12gb ram Chinese Asus rog 2 have more bands than the 8gb ram one. Can anyone verify? Has the 12gb ram been release in China yet?

Here's the information for the two Chinese version. IMO the 5999 version is same as intl version except Chinese firmware.
GSM/GPRS/EDGE; WCDMA/HSPA+/DC-HSPA+;TD-SCDMA; CDMA 2000;FDD-LTE; TD-LTE Same
LTE Cat13 UL up to 150Mbps / Cat16 DL up to 1.0Gbps vs LTE Cat18 UL up to 211Mbps / Cat18 DL up to 1.2Gbps
DC-HSPA+: UL 5.76Mbps / DL 42Mbps same
LTE DL 5CA same
Unknown vs Support 4x4 MIMO and CA w/ 4x4 MIMO
FDD-LTE band 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8 adding band 12, 13, 17, 18, 19, 20, 26, 28, 29, 32, 66
TD-LTE band 34, 38, 39, 40, 41 adding band 46
WCDMA band 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 8 adding band 6, 19
TD-SCDMA band 34, 39 same
CDMA band BC0 same
EDGE/GPRS/GSM 850, 900, 1800, 1900MHz same
And the information on ASUS taiwan website shows that taiwan version have no TD-SCDMA nor CDMA 2000. Other are same with the Chinese 5999 vision.
Thanks. So band 66 but not 71. Ugh, that’s a shame with T-Mobile, especially with the Razer Phone covering band 66 and 71.
Edit: /facepalm. This phone can actually go on any carrier, so just have to see if any make sense.
So then is the 512gb tencent no good for Verizon? I tried Razer 2 but they said even if it has the bands to work on Verizon, they may have deleted support to get ready for 5g. Had to send the Razer back and I really want the rog 2 but I'm tired of losing signal with att where I live so I'd really like to get the correct model, if any that support verizon
I'm on T-Mobile as well, so I definitely need to know if this device supports volte in the states
I contacted Asus North America to ask if the version we get will include bands 66 and 71. I mentioned how it would be a huge selling factor for those of us on T-mobile. They responded that that would forward it to the product team.

They'd be stupid not to. Unless they like losing money. I know if it doesn't support those bands, it's not even a question anymore, I won't be getting it

Same. Where I'm at, 66 and 71 are crucial for me.
Tencent chinese version does not include EU/US bands..

Nokia 8 LTE band choice

Hi there
I use my Nokia 8 on Telstra in Australia, and Telstra operates on LTE bands 3 (1800 MHz), 7 (2600 MHz) and 28 (700 MHz).
However, I notice it would often move onto band 7, despite it being the weakest band in the area, as shown in the attachment.
Any ideas why this happens? Is there any way to fix it?

Strix version modem and bands

Looking at the band listing in the XDA review, why would the strix version be missing so many (t-mobile)bands compared to its big brothers? Is it missing the x-55 modem chip or could the strix be Europe only?
