Transparent notification bar

Hello everybody
Could someone please give me a stepwise breakdown on if/how I could get trasparent notification bar on CM7 nightly ?

that's good idea!

You would have to pull the theme manager theme of choice out and change the statusbar_background.9.png to a transparent color.
So for SystemUI(using winRAR):
double click on the .zip to open it
double click on system ->app -> SystemUI.apk to open it
click on res
pull drawable-hdpi to your desktop
find statusbar_background.9.png and open it with your editor of choice that has transparency ability i.e paint.net, photoshop
make the bar transparent, save it
drop the file back in the drawable-hdpi folder of the SystemUI apk
when the little window pops up to say would you like to blah blah blah click yes
flash the rom and enjoy your transparent status bar

For some reason, after multiple tries, i keep messing up my status bar. Im not sure if there are minute settings that i have to tinker with in paint.net but for some reason its just not coming out well. If you have any paint.net specific transparency settings to toggle id greatly appreciate it. Thanks for the above tutorial though, it may just be me not getting it haha.

You have to do it for an individual theme. EX: Cyanbread.apk you have to edit file. Sometimes you have to do some coding.

sonny told me this some time ago but apktool doesn't work
you need to modify the classes.dex first!
this is pretty advanced but not that hard to learn....
the only way I have been able to do this is by way of baksmali-smali..
-find smali/com/android/systemui/statusbar
-open StatusBarService.smali
-search for the line
Code:
invoke-direct/range {v0 .. v5}, Landroid/view/WindowManager$LayoutParams;-><init>(IIIII)V
-above that line you will see
Code:
const/4 v5, 0x2
-change it to
Code:
const/4 v5, -0x3
-then change to statusbar_background.9.png to the level transparency you want in gimp or photoshop

It is this might look like greek but it is really simple once you get into it (learn baksmali-smali). changing the code line from const/4 v5, 0x2 to (-0x3) is necessary for anything to be transparent i.e. pulldown shade

I had to do that for the shade_bg, but I haven't found anything that's been easier so far.

Finally someone has done by following the advice above?

clearbar only for cm7 rc4
this will make your statusbar clear. this is the only mod. you must run a live wallpaper or if you are using a gallery picture make sure in adw settings/system preferences that wall paper hack is disabled

good ty so much, but i'would only pulldown bar transparent and not also notification bar, in wich way i can do this?

just un zip it and look at the names you dont want and change in gimp what you dont like...then (you still have a zipped version) use winrar to open (not unzip) and drag the newly modified .pngs in and delete the ones you don't want
then to flash turn off signature verification in recovery...(or re-sign)

man in .rar file not included any png or jpeg file but only modified version of framework-res.apk and SystemUI.apk ....

hey og, i flashed this and it didnt work for me .. on rc4 and i use launcher pro but tried it with wallpaper hack disabled on adw with no luck, any ideas?

try with a live wallpaper...also the "theme chooser" needs to be (system) or the theme will override

lg widget bar on custom rom

Hi all,
i need some help over here.
I've changed many, many things in my framework folder. Now the next step is to add the notifications bar toggles from lg-res.apk
I took one prebaked lg-res.apk and modified it a bit. Then i zipped it into my rom, but no toggles jet...
My guess is that there are more files to edit to get the toggles working.
Can somebody help me out a little bit.
Every time i give up and post a question how to fix something, i emediatly find a fix..... So i have my toggles working, but want te remove the music widget. How can i decompile the .xml file to remove the lines from there ?

you edit the xml with notepad, you don't decompile an xml

ok ok, i decompiled framework-res then edited the xml file, but now i've got some bootloops

could you tell us how you got the toggles working???
can you take these out of the original rom and put them in another?

i extracted the lg-res.apk from a basic rom, edited it and placed in my framework folder.
Then i copied the file: status_bar_extended.xml from framework-res.apk to my own framework-res.apk.
That worked, but the carrier bar is now empty and i don't have a solution for that right now.

to remove the music widget buttons, you need lg music installed.
you can remove the buttons in menu of lg music ...

how do you know, what "status_bar_...." files you need?? if i wanted to copy the status bar toggles from a working rom, should i copy all staus_bar_ files i find?

Well i think i had some stupid luck , just looked at all the file names and picked the one that looked the most logical to me

oh i see
but let me take a guess, you deal with the toggles to include them in your rom?

It's just status_bar_expanded for the pull down, only one file.
@OP - Just change the height of the music control block to '0dip' in status_bar_expanded to hide the music controls - you can not remove them (but hide works fine). You do not need to use the LG Music app to do this.
Or search for my mod posted here and extract the status_bar_expanded xml.

CM 10 Status Bar Icons

Hi All....
I have just installed CM10 (I would like to thank tezet, great job)
I was wondering if there was a way to increase the status bar icons size a few points up.... I just find them a bit harder to read ... I've just come from Gingerbread

shure there is, pull out the framework-res.apk out of the system/framework folder from the rom zip. change the icons that you want to change (find them at a hdpi folder, don't know the exact name atm). don't unzip the rom or the apk, just open it, change the icons and push them into the folders.

Decompile SecLauncher2.apk and change parameters in dimens.xml in res/values-sw399dp. Compile and push to your device.

No, I will not make a tutorial how to decompile/compile apps, change values in files etc.
Why? Because they all here in XDA - in many different forms and versions and "granularity". And I do not have the time for making the hundredth one right now, sorry.
And if you are really a Noob there would be many many questions from you more.
I searched myself and learned by reading and trying. It is not so difficult - but of course you have to put some energy and time into it.
If you want to change system files - learn. If you do not want to - use what is provided.
By the way: if you make icons bigger you only might get 3x3 or 4x4 on the home screen. Is that really what you need?

you could use "giganticon" app from the playstore
it won't change the icon size in the app drawer but you can put the huge icons on the home screen instead
Donno if this is what you are looking for....

Well, download the apk of the launcher and open it. You'll find a folder called res/values-sw399 dp. In that edit the values in the file dimens.xml and set the values you want. And recompile it. How To recompile, change values in that .xml file, you can search these processes individually.

If you want to check you can check these files are not present!!!

This is my custom Xperia theme for EMUI 4.0 Im liking the look ive got at the moment but the main thing I am looking for is a Xperia style lockscreen, can anyone help me make a lockscreen?

Theme with customized navigation bar
Hello together,
i am looking for a theme, where i can customize the navigation bar. I would like to remove the "App Switcher" Button and replace it with the "Notification" Button.
Actually I've already reached my result. But not in the form in which I would like it to. About the touchplus option, I first removed the navigation bar completely. In the second step I then placed with the App "Back Button" the desired icons on my screen.
Unfortunately, these do not build a permant navigation bar. The buttons are floating over all other apps. Unfortunately this causes problems with other apps. For example, in the camera app of the Home button is hovering over the trigger button.
Has an idea how I can customize the navigation bar?

I used 7zip and changed and renamed files individually.
It is very time consuming and tedious but I was determined to make a xperia theme

OK then, one more question, I had problem to make numbers in Dialer in other color (upper numbers that shows when you start tapping on keys) can you help? I tried to change color codes in theme.xml in contacts section, but didn't work, thanks for reply

all themes.zip is flashable?

You only need to copy them to HWthemes folder. You do not need to flash them.
