Does anyone know how to automate switching data from SIM1 to SIM2 when connected to a car on Llama or using any other app?
I noticed OnePlus has this nice icon on the notification bar "Switch Data Card" that allows switching data connection between dual sim. But wondering if there is a way to automate this..

Recently, even with "background data" disabled, my Nexus One randomly use EDGE data while it sleeps. This become the problem since when there is ongoing data transfer, I won't be able to receive calls. I didn't notice this until my friends told me that they couldn't reach me.
Is there an app or an option in Android/Nexus One that I can completely turn off mobile data access until needed? I tried APNDroid, but after I turn it back on, mobile data access won't be available until the phone is rebooted.
You can't use data and voice calls at the same time? That's strange. What carrier are you using?
I'm not actually sure if there is an easy way to turn data on and off completely, but you might be able to turn syncing off and then go through all of your applications and make sure they don't automatically update or stay logged in like g-chat. I think disabling syncing only has an effect on the stuff listed under Accounts & sync settings in the Settings menu, (Google and Facebook on the stock ROM).
I'm on T-Mo.
When you're on GSM network, unless BOTH carrier & handset supports some special feature (don't remember the name), concurrent voice/data is impossible. To date, I've only seen one Nokia phone supports the feature.

Going through every single app to make sure that it doesn't use data is a pita and not guarantee that no data will be used.
Since N1 WCDMA reception is crappy, I have to rely on GSM quite a bit. Since day 1, I had background data & auto sync disabled (only enabled when needed). --- For some reason, "background data" seems to apply to system/google-related app, but doesn't apply to 3rd-party app.
This sucks big time since it is phone first, computer second, so it kind of annoy me that background GSM data prevents me from receiving calls.

I found a way to completely disable/enable mobile data access on N1. It's a bit clumsy, but it works.
Go go Phone, dial "*#*#4636#*#*" to get into N1 Testing app.
Tap "Phone Information"
Tap menu -> more -> "Disable data connection"
Tap menu -> more -> "Disable data on boot" (just to make sure it's not enabled after you reboot the phone)
then... "GSM disconnects" should read "State: inactive ...... fail because No Error"
Some would suggest changing APN name manually or using widgets. But according to Testing app, you will still be connected to data network. Connection attempts will be made over mobile data network, but they won't go through. This doesn't guarantee 100% no data requirement. It just prevents you from hopping on the internet.
Seems like a lot of work to turn off data I agree. I'm just lucky I'm on a carrier that uses another carrier's net so it's roaming all the time. All I have to do is disable "data roaming" and data is off.
Toggle data is what i'm using - it's a free widget button to turn 3G (mms optional) on and off just like the Power widget. I've also seen another widget with a different name, but that was a black button and Toggle data is white.
Thanks. This seems to have the same effect as disabling data via Testing app.

try juice defender from the market. it can stop apn connections periodically or totally stop it
Hi,
i've a problem with 3g/2g mobile data connectivity: if i use a data connection switching utility, like APN on/off, Widgetsoid, Toggle Data, etc., when i switch off data connection, the small 3g icon on notification bar is visible, and i can switch on data connetion again, without problem.
But switching off data connection and let phone to go to stand-by (sleep), after a few minutes, the 3g icon disappears from notification bar, and from that point, i'm unable to switch on data connection with the switching utility anymore. The only solution is to switch Airplane Mode on and off.
On my previous phone (Samsung SGS) i haven't experienced such bug. Do you have any idea regarding this?
I've already tried more ROMs (BlazeDragon, Modaco FR19, Modaco leaked GB) and many basebands (218, 502, 622), but the issue has happend everytime.
Thanks and regards:

Hey guys,
I have a question, some may find weird....
Ok, with all of the data outages verizon has been having, I have decided to rely heavily on wifi connections when im at work and at home.
What I have done in Tasker:
when wifi connected ---> Mobile data turned off
when wifi disconnected ---> Mobile data turned on
Now I have tested and I know tasker is properly disabling/enablign mobile data services in the settings.
I know the clear indicator of 4g/3g on the top bar will tell u whether or not data is enabled. But if theres an outage, I have no way of knowing, other then going into settings and checking.
Does anyoen know of some kidn of app/icon that will stay on the top menu bar and indicate whether or not data is enabled (independent from whether mobile network is connected).
Thanks in advance

Using a Nexus 6 with NP5.
I frequently walk in and out of Wi-Fi range near my home. The Wi-Fi signal gets weak, and data communications start to suck. If I turn off Wi-Fi the phone switches to LTE and everything is fine.
There is an option in Developer options labeled "Aggressive Wi-Fi to Cellular handover." If I enable this option my data connection remains stable because as the Wi-Fi gets weak the phone switches to LTE sooner.
The difficulty is that this setting reverts to "Off" every time the phone reboots.
I have recently started using Tasker and have another task that runs a shell command on boot. That task is working great.
I am trying now to figure out how to change this setting for aggressive cell handover in dev options using a tasker task that I can assign to the same Device Boot event and I am running into difficulty. I simply do not see how to flip this device setting toggle within a tasker task.
Am I missing something? This seems like it would be a simple thing to do, straightforward, and the type of thing Tasker is designed for, but my noob-ness is showing.
I go to Tasks, add a task, name it, add an action, select Settings, but I don't see anything matching "Developer options." If I go to "All Settings" i just get a prompt to enter a variable name. I have no idea what to type to select the variable represented by the "Aggressive Wi-Fi to Cellular handover" toggle option, or if its range is 0/1, true/false, whatever.
Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

on s7 its a built in feature to switch to mobile data when a wifi network is unstable
Hi, I have an S21 Ultra 5G, (SM-G998B)and I have problem about 1 month ago. When I am connected to a wifi network, icons 4g is turn on and mobile data stop work. Only way to turn on mobile data is restart phone. What is the problem? I try everething and hard reset but problem not solved. This happens almost every day once or twice
Not sure I understand....the phone will NOT use mobile data when on Wi-Fi. You can force it by going in developer mode and boost speed by using both, that is not the default though. ("Mobile data always active")
"Mobile data always active" is turn off but 4g icons is active in same time as wifi network. After that I turn off wifi and mobile data not work but 4g icons still turn on.
I found out what the problem. Every time after sharing the mobile network via hotspot, when I go to Sim manager and turn off Sim 2, both icons appear and the mobile internet stops working.
1. Turn on sharing mobile data (from sim 1) via hotspot. (sim1 and sim 2 active)
2. Turn off sharing data via hotspot
3. Connect to any wifi (after connect to wifi, only wifi icons appear)
4. Go to sim manager and turn off sim2.
5. After that, both icons (wifi and mobile data) appear and mobile internet stops working.
Does this happen to others?
