Hi guys, I'm new to the forum and the touch pro for that matter. I'm an avid fisher in south georgia and am in need of an app to help me tag gps locations on some of the rivers and lakes around here. I have a Fish Finder on my boat but not a gps unit. Since my phone has the hardware built in, I figured I could save a few bucks and use it for the funcionality. I've searched the forums and google to no avail. Does anyone know of a program for winmo that is either dedicated to this or could be used to accomplish this. I guess something like google maps but with more focus on the lakes and rivers.
I know you guys will come through so thanks in advance.

I agree
we need something that can be used like a hand held GPS and not just driving directions from Google Maps and AmazeGPS. Something that actually shows the coordinates where you are so you can set a marker to go back to that spot.
GREAT IDEA SIR.
Anyone know of some wares which can do this... Does not have to be free, but free is preferred!

Pretty sure this does what you need:
http://aeguerre.free.fr/Public/PocketPC/NoniGPSPlot/EN/index.php
NoniGPSPlot
It reminds of my old Garmin eTrex. And not the color one either, the original yellow waterproof one.
Sweet find, looks like it might be just what I need.
Installed, and will test it out on my next excursion.
On a side note, I also found a program called Run.GPS but it's a pay program, Anyone know if it is better. They state that it is made for many different sporting applications. Just wondering if it's worth the extra money over the free one listed by phobos512?
not working on HTC HD2
I downloaded the smartphone version but its still not working
Hello.

I use this prg for couple of years now. It is complicated but when you make all adjustments to mach your needs is very stable and it can give all the information you ever need almost at the medical level. I have even a HRM band and a arm band for htc hd and is amassing. I didn`t find anything like it anywhere. It is very expensive but is wort all the money if you train regulately. I highly recommend this prg (I don`t work for them an I don`t have any commercial interest connected by them). the only thing what i don't like to that program is graphics, it is made for qvga screens and even if is working fine in WVGA it is ugly.
What he said. Pretty ugly, but excellent performance. I haven't found any other app to match it, or even to come anywgere close.
theres also so sporty pal
I tryed sportpal, but i find it kind of dif to understand the program :S
Just to add to the list of programs, even if it's not aimed at runners, it could be well used to keep track of your movements, it's a program called NoniGPSPlot.

Sportypal difficult it's very easy to use, click on start and start running
Just wondering if there are any other apps out there, specifically apps that upload to the web your progress, example: Nokia Sports Tracker and RunKepper for iPhone
I'm with Sportypal on my phone, i just came back from skiing, it worked great, also have been using the running and cycling mode.
The option for goal is nice and on some versions there is even voice feedback.

There's a gallery of NC teardown pics at zdnet. XDA isn't letting me post the link because i'm not verified, so maybe someone else can.
This was inevitable, but I hadn't been able to find it until today. I thought others might be interested as well.
http://www.zdnet.com/photos/nookcolor-teardown/487636 here it is
From the pictures I see a good possibility for a bigger battery, or even adding a second one. Lots of room, it won't be pretty but something could be fashioned to fit.

Looks good.
Nice to see some more details about the NC coming out, I have yet to find a *detailed* list of the real hardware specs though.. most of the "tech specs" list mention supported ebook formats...
I ordered one of these the other day via a relative in the US and hopefully will be getting it next week some time.
I will miss the haptic feedback though so am wondering if it will be possible to replace the useless mono speaker with a motor from a mobile phone or something..

Cool idea. But it'll only work for typing and maybe apps that have clicking sounds. Still, it should work just fine. Of course you'd have to attach it to the inside real tight. Duck tape won't do

Thanks, my mind is kinda running over with ideas actually
From the teardown pics the internals seem pretty basic and there is hopefully a good bit of space. I would love to know if there are any available usb / jtag / etc headers available though.
If not I was thinking also about the possibility of modifying the usb connector with a switch and a usb 3g dongle inside, I just don't know if there is a 3g dongle that is not based on mini pcie though.
As for the haptic feedback I guess you can just assign a "sound" to everything that should produce feedback.
What about the accellerometer, is that sufficient to control cars in steering wheel based games?
/mrintegrity
To answer your very last question yes.. I have Asphalt5 running and won my first race.

The usb dongle would have to support android. To my knowledge there isn't one... but physically it is possible to stick it inside. They aren't that big, just look big cause of the plastic casing.
I think realistically, for now a bigger battery should be the first thing attempted, given the OS limitations we'd face with other mods. It would also allow us to run the NC at 800 mhz at all times via setcpu.

What version of Asphalt are you running? Does it stretch correctly or is it stupid and square in the middle?

Did you download from the Gameloft site? I couldnt get the version from my G2 to get past the license check, and the only other version I've tried is a pirated 3.13 version. I would be glad to pay for it if I knew it would work.
Tried disabling the compatibility mode and the top of the screen is blank and I have to press high to get selections to work.
EDIT: I figured it out. You have to load a version made for Samsung Galaxy Tab or Galaxy S. I downloaded a version from Gameloft.com with Galaxy Tab selected as my phone and the game displays fine. If you purchase from their website you have to do some trickery. When they text you a download link, just type the link address from your phone in a browser on the Nook Color and the download should start and install the game.
isolated_epidemic - I'm having the same issue as you with Asphalt, as well as some of the other GameLoft games. Does anyone have a solution for this?
Well, i decided to write a CarAudio app! I've been messing with car audio for years and i remember back in the day when i was less experienced (hell even today) that i had to go double check the wiring diagrams, or whip out my volt meter and calculator to get it tuned just right.
This app has almost everything you could want to install car audio, and lets face it. At least once or twice a year you get roped into helping a buddy install a system.
I will be updating the app's faq with any suggestions etc as i think of them or get them by you the users.
Here are the pics.. FREE no ads as always..
Let me know what you guys think..

This looks good. Let me know if you want to best test it out.
That looks pretty impressive man ... im pretty bad with math when it comes to ohm loads and bridging ,etc ..this will come in handy . Not to mention the UI looks fantastic . Do you have other apps out ? I noticed you said "as always" .
Cant wait for this app!
Thanks for the interest guys, the app has been submitted for certification and should be out by friday.
The other app i have on the market is BandWidth.
Wow.. most impressive (FYI: was an IASCA national judge, high-end custom car audio installer back in the day, etc).
To you sir... BRAVO!
wow great work
makes me want to crank up my car audio business again.
And its out!
http://www.windowsphone.com/en-US/apps/9bdfe89c-e4dd-4705-a766-bf6eb8325c9d
Version 1.1 already pushed for certification as well!
will it be available in the German marketplace as well?
Thanks
It should be, i did world wide. Unfortunately the local is English though.
Guys, is this app available to you outside of USA?
When checking up on stats i noticed that i was only allowed to view Canada and USA for reviews..
I selected GLOBAL but it might have detected the local?
Someone Please Confirm.
Edit***
Confirmed. Somehow i only made it available to North and South america only!!!!
Ok guys, its out for all REGIONS now, it will start showing up in ~7 hours so tomorrow it should be out everywhere.
So I have a Vizio Co-Star Google TV. and it seems to me that well Google TV is dying. I heard that an update was going to come out for it to add Chromecast. I haven't seen it happen yet. Does anyone know if that is going to happen? Or has anyone found a way to do it on the forum? I have tried searching and I haven't found anything. Hope someone could help me out. Thank you all for even reading this.

Be Patient as there is a slim chance that Google TVs may be upgradable to Android TV at some point. But that won't come out until Android L is officially released I believe.
You may see it in new TVs sooner and in the end the manufacturer of your TV will be the end determining factor on if your unit can be upgraded or not.
Thanks Asphyx.
My Google TV isn't a TV it is a Vizio Co-Star and its like a box that has an HDMI in and out. It has an over lay on my TV that I like so much. thats why I do not like the Chromecast dongle. I would have to change inputs all the time. With the co-star i do not have too. But I seem to be missing out on things like HBO Go and other apps that are no longer getting support. I should say the whole system doesn't seem to be getting much support any more.
