I decide to install one of android builds from this section on my X1,It's CWM needed,so I have make 4 partition on my card[ 1Fat 32 & 3 EX2]using MiniTool Partition Wizard Home Edition 5.2 and then apply.....My device doesn't detect the card anymore, just asking for formatting and I hit yes,and It appears again and again, trying to format the card using MiniTool Partition Wizard again to NTFS,Fat 32 and FAT again,no results,Unformat mark appears on the partition on this app.
I also tried HP format tool, but it doesn't help too....
PS:maybe it's better to ask it in X1 section,But I prefer to ask it here Bcoz of visiting by more peoples,sry....
Did you partitioned your first partition with FAT32 format? Windows can only detect the SD card first partition.
Yeah....
But just to know if i have did it what should I do?
maybe you can use "partiton manger" to repart your sd card
It's not the problem with partition software because I'm using the same version with Reza.
Did you done all the partition exactly the same as below?
Format SDcard To 4 Partitions :
- 1st partition: FAT32 (SDcard / Rest)
- 2nd partition: EXT2 (System / about 150 MB )
- 3rd partition: EXT2 (Data / about 250 MB)
- 4th partition: EXT2 (Cache / about 100 MB)
* Make sure all partitions are set to PRIMARY

Hi guys, I partitioned my sd card on my android froyo smartphone but after the process was done the phone hasn't recognized the card any more and nor I can see it thru the computer. I don't have a micro sd card reader but I assume that's gonna be my best bet...
Please let me know if you have any hint.
Thanks in advance
I got hold of an sd reader and the card is perfectly seen by the computer. Of course windows won't see the ext2 partition but under minitool partition wizard both partitions are shown.
I wonder why my cellphone is not recognizing the sd card then...
Hope you guys can help.
Thanks again

the first partition must be fat32
right: FAT 32 | Ext2 | Ext2
wrong: Ext2 | Ext2 | FAT 32
Check that every partition is set to PRIMARY

That's what I did. As soon as I create the second partition the phone won't see the sd card.
I'm gonna try a different program and see if maybe it goes better. Do you have any suggestion other than minitool partition wizard?
Thanks again
Tried with gparted but always getting the same problem... still stuck...
Can you believe I created two ext partitions, one ext2 and one ext3 other than the first fat and the phone is finally recognizing the sd? That is so weird... but working!

What do you mean? Is that a question?
I tried to make a EXT4 partition on my SD card to use it for A2SD. I used MiniTool Partition Wizard, it went well. But after I restarted the phone, nor the MiniTool Partition Wizard, nor the Windows Disk Management can't see the EXT4 partition. I just lost ~200MB of space from my 2GB card. Is there a way to repair this or can I think about buying a new SD card?
Also, in CWM recovery everything associated with EXT partitions gives me errors.
ROM: Prime HD 5.0
Kernel: nAa-11
-------------------
L.E.:
Problem solved. Partition SD in the advanced menu of recovery.
Try running these commands in the terminal (the EXT partition will be formated):
Code:
su
a2sd formatext
If you get an error, you will need to use GParted (a Linux partition tool) to create correctly the EXT partition.
EDIT: Gparted also can recover your "lost space" if you wish.
Hello!
I'm trying to make an ext3 partition (300mb) and swap partition (128mb) on a 16gb SanDisc mircoSD.
The problem is that when i put a microSD into my computer, the miniTool shows i have 44mb FAT partition and 14gb unallocated space. My phone (and computer when microSD is in the phone) sees full 14GB SDcard.
So, when i partition the card by following this guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/SD_card_partitioning , and after i click Apply, computer sees only 44mb on my SD card. when i unplug the card and plug in again, my computer one time sees 44mb, another 14gb. MiniTool shows i have 44mb FAT and 14gb unallocated space again.
I tried to make only FAT32 partition, but my card still has only 44mb FAT and 14gb unallocated.
Does anyone knows what is wrong with the card or what do i do wrong? Please help me
try format using CWM
then partition using CWM too
thats simpler than minitool
but u cant custom the size
only 64 128 256 etc
Use MiniTool Partition - Home Edition
If your computer is running windows this is normal..
If you were running a superior OS like linux you would not have this issue..
Windows cannot read or write to superior file systems like ext3 & ext4..
It won't even see the swap partition either..
Hmm, im using Windows 7 and MiniTool Partition - Home Edition. In the guide (http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/SD_card_partitioning), as i can see, the operating system is Windows 7, so i don't think it's system problem.
Maybe i'll try to do this from another PC.
I am using Night Owl([ROM][CM12.1][Lollipop][Android 5.1.1] NightOwl 20151003) on samsung galaxy Note GT N-7000.
I have partitioned my external SD card (16GB Class10) with AParted (11GB Fat32, 4GB ext2, 512MB Swap).
I was able to use this partition as my internal memory to install apps.
but after flashing this rom I am not able to mount the sencond partition.
Link2SD shows SD card 2nd part not found in the storage info.
When I try to recreate the mount script I get an error
Mount script error
Mount script can not be created
Mount: Invalid argument
Please suggest a way forward.

Not a Note, but had this issue with CM12.1 on a Moto E. Try selecting Ext4 when Link2SD asks what format it is.

Thanks, Jacob but I already tried that and it didn't help
The main prob is about 2nd partition not being detected.
Try uninstalling (make sure everything reverts) and use this link to repartition instead. Link2SD isn't as reliable because of conflicts with the rom.
I've just bought a 64GB Class 10 SD card for my N7000, running the lastest Bauner Nightowl. This is to store mainly mp3 audio files.
Can anyone please tell me how it is best to format it? FAT32, VFAT, something else? Also although I'm happy to keep all the files in one partition, am I better off with additional partitions?

Link2SD requires the second partition be formatted ext4 if you will be utilizing symbolic links which is highly recommend. You won't be able to see/manage the contents of that partition from Windows - nor do you need to.
well thanks now im not getting that error anymore, but now when i move the stuff to the SD card for example dead trigger 2 500MB another app 300MB and another at 200mb that should free aprox 1 gig and had 600mb free internal but moveing all that with both the link2sd and move to external option and now i only have 700mb internal storage, so this oviusly still is not working properly it is doing same crap as stock option and only moveing the data and nothing else.

Err...no, not when used correctly. Android rot?
no it dosent seem to be going slow and it was fresh custom rom install, so i dont think it can be android rot.
