Battery drains faster using AA - Android Auto General

I've been using my Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge with AA on 2016 VW GTI for a while now. First of all it always asks me to connect every time I plug in the USB. After connection sometimes it stays on and sometimes it disconnects on it's own. Sometimes it reconnects ok, but sometimes it doesn't. The other problems is it drains the phone battery faster than usual. I thought it would charge instead, but I got the wrong impression.
Does anyone have similar issues? If so, were you able to find a workaround?

I have a s7e edge and 2016 golf and mine charges... And stays connected. Have you tried another usb cable? I have ~10 USB cables and it only works properly with 2.

Thanks. I never thought the cable could make a difference. I will try and get back with results.

I found that the phone gets hot when using maps and internet radio and at that point charging rate drops.

sdmark, looks like the cable did the trick. For the first time the battery got charged instead of draining.

Longer Power cord

Any suggestions on this? It seems my nexus is very picky about only using the stock cord. I couldn't even get it to charge with my galaxy S2 cord. Charge icon was on but didn't charge.
Thoughts?

I use a USB 3.0 Cable extender that I got for like $3 off eBay. Charge time is the same and the cord is 6ft longer
Search and you will find a great thread on cables and chargers and what works and doesn't and why.
I picked up a couple of these when they were on discount ($9.95 at the time). LONG 6ft cables and they work great for not only the Nexus 7 but other devices as well (Raspberry Pi)...
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004OZMWUS
Even at the current price of $16.31 I would not hesitate to buy one.
Thanks guys, I will try that. I hate this little cord.

I used $random cable in the house, works fine. Just make sure you use the OEM charger, unless the cable is super crap it should just work.
Im using my old charger from my blackberry curve 8300 with a mini usb to micro usb adapter on it because it was the longest charger I have. It worked to charge my original evo 4g, it charges my evo lte, and it charges my nexus 7 as well.
Here: http://www.monoprice.com/products/p...=10303&cs_id=1030307&p_id=5458&seq=1&format=2
I paid $3.94 total. Should have been smart and ordered two (other half wants one) but I wanted to be sure it works. It's great and plenty long enough.

I've got a couple of 2mtr cables with right angle micro usb plugs, cheap as chips off eBay and they work fine.

[Q] My tab won't charge, battery pic comes on and then dissappears

Dear XDA tribe,
My dad recently handled me his Samsung Galaxy Tab P-1000.
It has been on my desk for a long time without turning it on, like it hasn't been used for over than 5 months.
Now I got an adapter and I wanted to charge it and use it.
I plugged in the charger and the battery appeared and it was charging a bit green. I gave it an hour then tried to power up the tab, it did not work.
Now when I put it in the charger it gives me the following, and it keeps appearing and disappearing. On and on.
I would really like your help, thanks in advance.
What is that white cable?
Do you have the original cable and charger?

Thanks for the fast reply, it feels good to have someone helping.
Don't mind the white cable, they're just headphones.
I have attached a pic of my cable charger.
Should be right charger, doesn't look like mine but mine is USA plug.
The symptom you describe, it is as if the connection isn't good.
Try plug it snugly and leave it for 5-8hr and see how it goes.
Edit: is the charger rated 2A?

It used to charge with it, like I could see the battery getting more greener and all. But it doesn't do that now.
I tried getting it into the download mode, ODIN finds it, and looses it in 2 seconds.
The charger says as follows;
OUTPUT: 5.0V = 1.0A
Well, his charger looks different as he is from Riyadh. Priyana's method should work
But mine is 2A. I think this charger is a bit underrated. Should be ok still. But charge slower. Don't go flashing until it is full.

Well, I don't really think it is charging.
I left it for an hour now, it's still doing the same thing.
Would it be a good idea to open it apart so I can remove the battery and let it work straight on the electric plug?
Hhmm..
I think the circuit doesn't work that way.
But you can charge using a PC USB port too albeit slow.
I still think you don't have the right wall charger.
Sure it isn't mixed up with some other Samsung device?
Edit: attached picture of my charger, with the removable bit to change the pin plug, I suspect a UK plug is available.

So you still think I should get another charger. Although this one used to charge it.
So you don't recommend opening the device?

Yes, just keep charging. You know that car charger may work better? Those that goes to cigarette lighter.
Car batt has higher amp and the DC charging is more pure than AC to DC.
I don't recommend opening and I don't know if it works.
In my HTC magic, if I take out the battery, the charger won't power up the phone.
The point is, just keep charging if you can, on PC, USB 2/3 or car.

Alright, I fixed it. Here's what happened;
I thought that since the connection seems to be interrupted, I thought that it was time to change the battery since so much time has passed on and the device didn't work.
So I got a new battery, installed it and WA LA !
THE GALAXY IS BACK TO LIFE AGAIN!
Thanks for your help everybody!
Thank you Priyana

Charging with USB cable

Hello!
Did anyone notice that after update to MK7 one can charge the watch only with the supplied charger?
I tried generic USB cable with generic USB charger and stuf ain't chargin' any more.
Perfectly fine with the supplied charger.
Any ideas what Sammy came up with this time?
I can charge just fine with a USB cable.

And me, tried 6 different ones.
They all worked.
Hmmmm.
And you have the latest firmware XXUAMK7, right?
I can charge with any. How many have you tried?
Maybe the other one you tried doesn't work? Try another?

Tried two, both work fine with the phone.
Not home now but will try them off usb port in laptop (500mA). Phone chargers ar 1A (2A for note 2 & 3). Gear's charger is only 350mA, maybe they built in damage prevention from too high currents?

Yeah, charges fine with USB port from the laptop.
For those that it works from phone chargers - it used to work as well before MK7 update. Are you sure you are on MK7??

One more correction - charges fine from Note 3 charger as well....
It's the generic ones that are the problem....

I've noticed with some chargers...the gear will not display a charging icon, but the unit will charge. If this happens, you may power off the gear, and then you will receive a charging animation on your unsupported? charger.

Galaxy S I9000 only charges with USB cable

I am hoping that someone out there can help me. My sgs i9000 does not charge when using the mains charger. It charges when plugged into a laptop is in the USB cable okay though. I have bought, both a new battery and a new charger, but the problem persists. Has anyone had or heard of this problem? Better still, does anyone have a solution?
I thank you all in advance.

Thanked you by accident when I went to quote you there
It probably isn't his USB port on the phone if it's charging fine from a laptop with USB cable.
I'd be checking that the charger definitely works by charging another device with it, if you have one. The voltage pins on the phones socket are the same whether you're charging with a charger or plugging into a computers USB, so if one way wasn't working then nothing should be working.

Could just be the plug on the charger possibly, I've had that happen before. There are two little sprung prongs on one side of it. I've had well used chargers before that I've had to get a pair of pliers and pull them out a little..
The fact that it works on your wife's phone doesn't mean it can't be the plug on your charger. Could just be that your USB port is a tiny bit more worn than hers. Doesn't mean that your port is totally screwed.
Sent from my GT-I9000 using Tapatalk
I have tried three different chargers and none of them charge my phone. I'm very interested in your comment about the USB port being slightly more worn.
I am constantly flashing different Roms etc across using ums/ mtp so that does make sense. Also the USB cable that I use to charge my laptop is an old Nokia cable and the USB connector (phone end) is a little tighter.
Thanks.

My phone became a bit wet in the rains (started working after keeping it in rice) and since then even I am facing a similar issue... My auto rotate doesn't go off even after disabling it and my phone only charges even when its connected to the pc... Unable to use it for any sort of data transfer between the phone and the pc... Doesn't get into download mode without using the battery method and odin too doest recognize it... @Drhedphuk if you had some progress please do post here too...

Hi @sbnaul Unfortunately I haven't had much progress at all. My device connects with Odin & PC etc with no problem, it is just the charging issue using the mains charger. I have discovered that if I push in and hold the usb connector of the mains charger it will charge. Obviously though, none of us have the time to sit there and hold the phone for its charging process. If I have any further progress I will post here. Good Luck with your own problem, that must be a headache.

I received the June 1 security update this morning and everything is fine except the notification led including charging is not working even though it's enabled. Anyone have the same issue?

Yes Iv tried turning the fast charge option on and off multiple times but still no luck.
When I plug in a cable the fastcharging animation appears for a second, then it 're shows the animation and says cable charging. Which is strange, I can also not charge my phone when the phone is turned off completely.

Yeah ok, that sucks man sorry to hear. If it helps there's really no difference in charge time between fast and normal. I have used just a plain 2.1amp charger plugged in and also an old Nokia wireless charger and we're talking a few minutes difference. The fast charge is really only a gimmick.
