Looks like it's finally live. Not sure if this should go in General or App section.

Does anyone have the Chromecast APK 1.7? can't find it posted anywhere. It's required per the announcement. http://chrome.blogspot.com/2014/07/mirror-your-android-screen-to-tv-with.html

Not needed for our devices. 1.7 i believe is needed for non nexus devices.

Yup the screen cast is working without app. Once the chromecast is detected on the network the cast screen shows up in the quick settings.
There is little bit lag but even the videos play quite well.
Not sure what I will use it for though.

I'm excited to try it when I get home. I actually tried to check yesterday and it wasn't working. I wanted to cast pictures and allcast was being very slow using Drive. I'm also curious to see how games turn out.

Kept failing to connect for me, gave the phone a restart and couldn't get the button to show up in the quick settings again... Going to bed for now, hopefully I'll have better luck in the morning haha

Honestly, casting photos is what I'm most excited about. AllCast has never worked reliably for me and the Photos app doesn't let you zoom.

Hey can someone try casting sling box or xfinity TV go this is very important to me because I stream all my cable for free on computers and thinking about canceling my ISP and just using T-Mobile.

I'll be using it mainly for Xfinity app & emulators on my TV in my bedroom!

The first thing I tested it with was MXPlayer and a video format not supported by Chromecast. It worked flawlessly.

I tried flappy bird (I know) and it worked surprisingly well. Probably not 100% playable as there is an expected delay. However, I think other games that don't require constant input might work well. Video actually does work well for me. Also, I thought it was cool that if you lock the phone when casting it gives the CRT animation on the TV.

My sound doesn't work. Plays sound choppy distorted and very low. When I use normal YouTube with Chromecast not Cast Screen, it plays sound normal. Strange. Anyone else?

I have the same issue when casting screen however I'm running Android l and looking at the chrome cast forums here it looks like it's a bug with Android l or the beta chrome cast app

CC Screen Mirroring - Stuttering on Nexus 5/7

Hello all. I've recently gotten a CC and I love it! However, when I'm screen mirroring multimedia from my rooted Nexus 5 (stock ROM, Franco kernel) or my Nexus 7 (stock), there's occasional studdering. I usually either Spotify or use MX Player with videos
Anny suggestions? Its not too big of a deal - I usually stream Chrome so not much multimedia, just the occasional Spotify, etc

Which N7? 2012 or 2013?
I have not seen any issues with either myself so I will suspect it is a WiFi strength/connection issue that is messing with you.

2013. Yea you got a point cause it does the same with my N5, so safe to say that it's something with my network.

It's a router supplied by AT&T (U-verse). Not sure of the particular model (I can go look), but I think I was able to resolve it. It was set to auto scan for channels, so currently it was using channel 2. Checked out my wifi analyze app and noticed that channel 1 was super crowded.
Changed it to 6 and performance improved drastically

No Sound when Casting Screen/Desktop to TV, assistance required.......

Hello XDA Community, I just received my Google Chromecast yesterday and so far loving it but i have ran into a very serious and worrying problem...
Anytime i try to Cast Screen/Desktop i never receive Audio in the stream but...the Audio will work fine when streaming a Chrome Tab,
I have tried all workarounds listed via Google and other users via XDA DEVELOPERS but i am truly unable to get it to work with Audio via Cast Screen/Desktop,
I have already tried resetting the device to factory default and rebooting it etc, am truly unsure what else to try
I hope some smart cookie on here who managed to get this to work can lend a hand and share anyway i can get this to work,

Can anyone confirm if this is a working feature? I was planning to use VLC and WMP on PC as well as Steam local Music to my TV when in entire screen/desktop mode :/

I cannot get audio to work either when casting entire screen guess thats what experimental means. But iff i cast from my phone do get audio and can control it from phone vol keys.

When you do scrren mirroing and u dont get sound but video only that means you have a low connection and your mirroing is weak and close to lose Connection . I had the same problem a millón times until i but a wifi-amplifier and then make my phone/tablet/computer and chromecast connect to the same wifi the amolifier creates by using your house's wifi and i never got the no-sound bug again.

Check if you are getting any missing audio driver errors in logcat !!

I'm using my PC, am using Google Chrome web browser on PC , i do get sound when casting via tab, but not when casting full desktop screen, also my signal is full and casting via mobile works just fine with zero issues and i get audio fine via smartphone just not when casting full screen on PC

Is the firmware supporting spotify released? What's the build number in that case?

Doesn't seems so. Last released FW for OG Chromecast is 38401 from 28 July.

That's same as 1.15.38401? New app shows it that way.

Last fw update with Spotify support is 1.16.43955, for the first gen chromecast.
(only few users have it)

Sigh, no way to force the update. The worst part is this my Spotify app on my phone shows at the chromecast is available to cast to, but once I cast it does not work. So much for using my chromecast later tonight when my friends are over.

Odd, Spotify on my android phone doesn't show Chromecast as a device to cast to.. My Spotify version is 3.7.0.833.
Looks like we'll have to wait, good news is that it seems the 1st gen Chromecast will *actually* receive the Spotify connect FW upgrade. I was planning to buy a Chromecast audio device (which anyway would be useful) but I'll probably wait till I get the FW for 1stGen. Anxious, as I was planning to upgrade my yamaha amp to get Spotify connect, this would be a saver.

It started working for me this morning too. It's finally here.

I can also confirm, that Spotify is working on 1st gen. Chromecast (rooted 44433 from @daddy2k).

Can't Chromecast from YouTube app

My wife has been using a OnePlus3 since Last summer and has never been able to cast from the YouTube app (the phone casts from other apps and can do screen cast find).
Until last week I was using a Nexus 5x and could cast from YouTube perfectly, as can my kids from their Android phones.
Anyway my new OnePlus3T arrived last week and I am having the same issue, cannot cast from the YouTube app. Both OnePluses are running stock OxygenOS 4.01. Upgrading my wife's to that version didn't have any impact on YouTube casting.
I've done loads of Google searching and can't find out much about the issue. Has anyone else been experiencing this issue? Of so did you find a solution?
I'd be grateful for any help. ?

Managed to resolve this, was actually an issue to do with Youtube blocking rules setup on my router! :$
