Somebody had the z3 compact WITHOUT issues? - Xperia Z3 Compact Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I want a compact phone with long battery life and the only option seems to be the Z3 compact, on paper i love it, seems to be perfect, but what stops me from buying it are the build issues, seems the build quality on the z3c is crap, do people who had this phone for a long time WITHOUT issues exists?
Indoctrinate me, or not

This phone no longer has long battery life if you are on Marshmallow... 4-5-6 hours of SOT is "normal", on lollipop it was like 5-6-7 hours and on kitkat it was 9-10-11...
I love this phone, the camera is good but not perfect (too much noise, my girlfriend's normal Z3 has the same issue, the reason I don't want to stick with Sony anymore... they make the best camera sensors but have the WORST camera software...), my vibrator is very noisy, (it peeled-off inside the housing, when I push it hard next to the bottom speaker it stops being noisy for some time and peels-off again to be buzzy again).
If you want the phone with perfect size, it's a perfect choice. But remember - the official support is already dead so if you like your phone to have "fresh" software, you'll have to look for something else.

IMHO the build quality is horrid!
It has a top left hand CPU heat issue, which will nullify it's waterproofing after a short term of use...
[emoji7]
This is the very reason Sony pulled the swimming pool advertising and have now said you should not swim with it. So how could it achieve its waterproof rating?
Sony downgraded the devices advertised Audio capabilities when upgraded to Lollipop, and at the same time changed Walkman app to Music app.
heat again.
Also the housing is bendable, do not put it in your jeans pocket... Needs an aluminium bumper...
If someone has one in perfect working conditions, he only used the calculator function and nothing else, lived in Siberia.
So buying this phone is a bit like playing Russian roulette
All the issues are related to heat...

No problem with the phone at all. Have it for half a year now. Battery: excellent. I use it for bike navigation. Yesterday screen on with navigation and geo tracking for more than 4.5 hours. No problemo!:good:

Dead touch screen, specially in the notification bar and navigation bar.
You need a dock to keep its waterproof. (This problem is fixed on Z5 compact).

Had this problem last week. Only a small portion of the notification bar works. I'm trying to live with it.

Ever thought that it was released with Kitkat when phones had brand new battery, then, year later ppl updated it to Lollipop with year old battery, now on Marshmallow it is two years old so yeah, sure, battery is weaker.

Well, I doubt there are Z3 compacts out there without issues, simply because, as it was pointed out in previous replies, it has design flaws, and that's just obvious and undeniable. All of those with screen peeling off, had it in upper left corner, and to make things worse, it happened in first year of use, usually between 6 and 12 months of use, depending on the exposure to heat. I for example did not play any games on it, so it was not exposed to heat in that way, but during summer it was getting very hot easily, with minimal use, and even with no use, so after exactly 6 months it started to peel of (bought brand new). So for the dude up there who used it for 6 months without problems, one advice, from now on just be careful, it's bound to happen.
Next is the camera, which is not that good as it sounds on paper, mainly because Sony's software is crap, and based on some reports, lens quality is bad as well.
The frame can be bent easily, I was careless so now I have two white spots which are visible on black background.
On the good side though, the phone is quick and snappy, the battery life is excellent, it has a compact body (obviously ), it's beautiful. Battery life is averaging at 8h of SOT on MM with 1day 10h of standby, bit more on LP, and even more on KK, however difference is not big if you know how to setup your phone.
All that being said, I don't regret buying the phone, at the time there was no better package overall, at least for me. Now, however, I'd pick something that's not Sony.

Cirra92's write-up above is spot on...
Exactly correct!
Totally perfect review.
If your device is in good condition, means you only used the calculator function and nothing else, it never left your desk and you live in Siberia...
Forever and hereafter, I will always subconsciously believe that Sony owes me a refund...
Sony believing that not acknowledging it's defects and withholding truth of the fact, as business decision will actually cost more. The shareholders really need to realise this...
I also do not regret buying the phone, the best phone of it's type at the time of purchase.
[emoji7]
The design flaws have obviously been both detrimental to Sony's branding and has eroded any trust many owners have with the brand.
The screen has excellent contrast, noticeable to onlookers...
The specifications are still awesome, and I love the phone
[emoji7] [emoji7] [emoji7]
I know how much cost I have incurred repairing the device with 3 screen replacements, and that's exactly how much Sony is indebted to me...

Touch screen top area not responding issue. Claimed warranty, they changed the screen, but now my screen placement is not well aligned, the right side have a big gap compared to left. Thus, phone looks ugly and not waterproof.
I dont know why the replacement screen (i think) is smaller, thus it's highly possible become misaligned

consider the Iph*ne SE(Bad word on XDA ) or Xperia z5 compact(Both arent worth the price though).
It is impossible to get a good phone in a compact price point anymore. Even the latest X compact has a less powerful CPU. Its very sad how sony ditched us compact users in the dark. :crying:

I have my Z3c now for 1 1/2 years and had no major problems. The battery isn't as good anymore as it was and the speakers got very silent because i put it under water often.
Never had a cracked or peeling off screen. Got two friends with the same phone, none of them had ever such a problem.

True. I had an unresponsive notification tray area in less than 1 year. But they replaced the screen under warranty in less than a week

If I had the chance to buy again this phone or the iPhone SE, I'd go for the iPhone. My camera died suddenly :/ I've sent my phone 3 times to the service. Next time I'm moving to the Sony XZ or get an iPhone

@Robot76 I have had the Xperia Z3c for a full year now,I haven't had any screen issues or anything like that,I broke the screen once because it fell on the floor, but had nothing like screen peeling off or top part of the screen not working and so on
The only issues I have had were software issues and just slowness in general,I have tried every stock based MM ROM to keep a good camera, but EVERY SINGLE ONE was so f*cking slow,it would crash when I would have music playing,Messenger and Snapchat opem in the same time.
I am currently on AOSP 7.1.1(planning to go to Carbon ROM very soon) and it has been so fast! The only problem I have is when my phone gets hot it doesn't want to charge,I have to let it rest turned off and then charge it.
I just want to ask,do you have similar behavior on CM14.1?

[Q] Pros and cons?

Hello Z1 users...
I've been recently searching about this phone as I am about to buy it...
I still can't gather all the pros and cons of the phone so I can make a conclusion
whether should or should I not buy it...
I've been reading reviews but my experience says that user comments are better than reviews...
I would really love if you could type some pros and cons of this phone.
Thank you very much
Depends on which Z1 you will have as each Xperia Z1 could have individual problems. Some people including me report about heat issues that are still not solved even after the update. Just make sure that you get a problem free unit

As far as GSM arena is concerned the user reviews are better than the critics, personally i've found the Z1 to be a rock solid phone and a good performer, being water proof and having a beast of a camera aren't bad additions either.
Only thing i would be concerned with buying the phone now is that there are newer phones which if given the choice i would prefer to go for, the Z2 if you wanted to go with Sony, the Z3 isn't far from being released, the LG G3, HTC M8, Galaxy S5, all have superior hardware compared to the Z1, difference isn't as big as lets say coming from an Xperia T to the Z1 but it's a difference i wouldn't ignore if i was going to commit to spending a few hundred pounds on a phone.
That being said I'm sure you'll like the Z1, rooting is easy, reverting to stock is easy, the rom's are good (not as much choice as Samsung and HTC but there are some great dev's here)
If i were you I would go to a store and have a try at it, see some of the offerings in the flesh and make your mind up that way, there are also a lot of similar threads on this forum about whether or not the Z1 is a good phone too so have a search too.
I can't make sure that I will get a free-problem unit but I hope for it .
If you could address some issues of the phone and some features of it I would be glad to hear'em

I have some restrictions with buying phones and the price in my country is fairly good...
I am 90% more on the Xperia Z1 but first I want some user reviews.
I had Xperia SP and it died before some days and before I bought it I read awesome reviews
But after buying it and seeing user reviews I saw a not-that-good phone :/...

I wasn't asking for a big review...I was asking to write something like [Battery life is fairly OK, Performance is the best] or something like that...
Small comments on each part of the phone (Performance, battery, bugs etc.)...
Issues i've had are, the vibration has gone a bit rattley on my handset (disabled vibration on touch to fix) the odd random reboot, nothing to write home about, and the camera can appear a little grainy at times.
Like i said it's a great phone.

Thank you very much ...I don't care a lot about the camera but again thank you sir.
I did have a Z1 but the phone gave the now infamous touch screen issue.
Just type in Google, "Z1 touch screen issue" and read what people have experienced
Even a complete replacement of the display and touch screen didn't fix it.
The phone is great, but the screen is the most important thing on the phone and what use is it if it doesn't work like it should?
You can try and get one, but that issue is a serious one!
Get one at your own risk. I'm getting a One M8.

I saw the specific issue but it might be due to a contact with a magnet or something like that.
Also all the videos are outdated and before the kitkat update...I think SONY fixed it on 4.4 update.
The screen and the speakers are the biggest drawbacks.
Speakers are terrible and the screen washes out very badly even if you tilt it just slightly.

Actually completely forgot about the touchscreen issue, I did have that but it appears to have completely gone away now, updates seem to have helped me. I know some people weren't as lucky as me.
M8 is a good phone by the way, think a bit too much time has passed for me to be getting one though, think i might sit this contract out, something i've never done before.
The Z1 is a beautiful phone. Its large, its fast and its durable. I wouldnt trade it for any other phone including a Samsung. The only issue is that it heats up on demanding ups, but thats what you get when you enclosed a modern beast in a tight environment with no modern-day ventilation (not possible on smartphones anyway).
The differences with the Z2 are minimal, certainly not justifying the premium.
Anyway the current hardware is way ahead of the current software's recommended specifications.

It's chance m8, but then you take that chance with any phone you buy, if it's brand new, just test it in the shop and if it's present it'll show it's ugly head, problem occurs when you make a persistent connection with the screen and that connection is broke and then restarted, imagine a perfect line down the screen, you don't break contact but the line it split in parts due to this issue.
I myself have had two, the first one i killed by flashing a TA partition, literally dead phone but that didn't have the touchscreen issue, the 2nd one has had it but it went away.
All phones have their problems m8.
Even if the product you buy proves to be defective, you take it back and have it replaced. Pardon me but we all are grown ups with at least average IQ, right?
in my opinion, the z1 is a very solid phone. might be outdated with the z2 and the now rumored z3, but still a very good performer.
Battery = excellent. I love the battery on this phone. With regular usage, I get to 2. 5 days to 3.5 days with about 5 - 6 hrs screen on time. Haven't had a problem with the battery.
Processor = not the latest but still very capable of performing tasks that newer processors can.
Screen = honestly, people say its horrible, but it isn't like that. It is actually pretty good. I don't care about viewing angles. Its an advantage for me, it keeps the people with naughty eyes from seeing the things I am doing clearly
Speaker = could have been better. It is decent but can never outperform devices of its price range before.
Camera = awesome. just amazing. sometimes can give you grainy pictures indoors, but it is capable of getting some awesome pictures.
Perks = well, being water proof or water resistant is enjoyable. not a gimick for me. I use it. wash my phone weekly. lol. also the feel in hand is very satisfactory. the cold aluminum plus the weight of the device is good.
My personal feelings on the handset...
The Pros
It is a well rounded and well made handset that sits nicely in the hand
The camera is amazing if you can work out how to use it properly
Magnetic docking that actually works means you don't have to mess around with wires
Sony Support is pretty good
It is very fast (ignore the 'outdated' processor as it works fine)
Sony's little tweaks to Android on the handset mean it doesn't really need rooting at all
SD card support (something not all flagships offer)
Easy to root
Battery is pretty good if Stamina mode is on and the Snapdragon app is installed
The screen is simply stunning (never had a touchscreen issue or noticed it washout)
Charges reasonably quickly
It's resilient, I've dropped my second handset a fair few times and nothing is wrong yet (cracked screen on my first one)
The cons
The handset gets HOT...
The flaps eventually wear out and fall off
It reboots randomly, when it doesn't it tends to warrant a reboot anyway as it becomes laggy
Heavy use such as gaming absolutely rinses the battery
WiFi is sensitive, it doesn't always connect properly

[Q] G3 vs Z3C? Opinions

Hey there, I'm planning to give back my g3 to amazon spend 20€ more and get the z3c...
I know this is the z3c forum so I will get more positive reviews about it.
Some extra info: I keep using my nexus 7 2013 for reading and video, with the G3 I didn't use the nexus 7 2013 at all these days so if I keep the G3 I think I will sell the tablet.
G3 foto gets really good with XCam from xdabebb although you can't modify so many values as the z3c manual mode 20 megapixel...
Battery: G3 can give me 5 hours SOT MAX in a day of use, if I forget to charge it It wont get through the second day.
The best thing I like about the LG G3 are the thin bezels and the fact of a 5.5 inch into so small sizes + the screen for multimedia purposes can substitute tablet use.
The worst thing about the LG G3 is the size for 1 hand is nearly impossible and dangerous (phone can easily fall), and the battery + the camera is only good with xdabbeb camera XCam and now with lollipop LG has removed many functionalities about the hardware of the camara that can be accesed
Sorry for the long post
TL.DR: Why should I get Z3 Compact over G3, provide some links in your answers (even I've searched in google quite a lot and not many people compare these 2 due to different screen sizes)
I come from the LG G2 (1 year) -> Amazon Firephone (3 months)-> z3 compact (3 months so far) . However I help my friend to buy a LG G3 and use if for a couple of days. Technically, the LG G3 is mostly identical to the LG G2 (slightly bigger in screen and size, same camera, battery capacity, design and internals (S801 is just an overclocked s800)) However, when the G2 has very good battery life, the G3 is just average. G3 has better camera focus time thanks to laser sensor, but the image quality is mostly the same (they uses the same Sony sensor) The reason I switch to the Z3 compact is G3 is mostly the same as G2 and I need to upgrade my smartphone, as my father love to use the G2, and he's still using. And I advise 4 of my friends to buy sony devices. Our group now have 1 z3, 4 z3 compacts.
The reason for buying z3 compact is:
+ water proof: trust me, my s4 died for just drop into the water for 3 seconds. This z3c has several times accidentally into the water and she lives well. Plus one time listening to music under the heavy rain for more than 1 hour.
+ battery: The best battery life device for more than 10 smartphones I've used in my life. My habit is charge the phone over-night and I have to plug it in normally at 40-50%, 30% on the intensive day and even 70% on the easy one.
+ speakers: It has 2 stereo speakers towards your ears. Most of the other smartphone including LG and has speaker grill at the bottom (one ear in landscape mode) or in the back ?? after using phones with front-facing speakers, you will never go back. And my daddy love my mother's Moto G 2014 just because of those speakers haha.
The reason to not buy the z3 compact is:
-screen size: Depends. Yeah it's very efficiently designed since it has 4.6 inches screen and much smaller than the 4.7 inches galaxy alpha and Iphone 6. However, 4.6 can be considered too small for some. You can buy the z3 in this case, keep in mind that the bigger Z3 doesn't have the as good screen-size ratio as the z3 compact
-camera: IMX 220 is the very good camera (proven in other devices. However, I don't know why Sony can introduce the very bad camera software. It's hard to use, it's complicated, it re-focus when you hit the button even when you already focused just before. Plus, the camera software stays the same without any major updates for nearly 2 years since the z1 and z1 compact. It's a joke when Sony keeps updating theirs other apps like Walkman (now music), Gallery, launcher, themes, major android updates. And don't get me wrong, z3c camera is really good, it just cannot cope with the potential of the sensor itself, and ironically they are the maker of the sensor ha ha. And please not to forget the 2MP front facing camera is just average (with f 2.8 and bad quality) if you are the selfie person.
In conclusion, I'm very satisfied with the z3 compact and will stick with it for a long time.

Hello thanks for your post it was very usefull for me, I also owned the G2 for a while and I must say, from what I remember, the camera noise is much lower in the G3 under low light conditions. The main reason I want to get the z3c is due to the camera (in manual mode you can get impressive pictures & auto mode is improving from what I've read) and the battery. The biggest con I see with the z3c is non-removable battery. When the battery life ends it will mean you have to throw it away or take it to the service center and pay a big amount of money to get a new one.
EDIT: Damn, didn't read you already have a G3, curse my lack of reading skills.
I don't know much about the Z3C as I haven't had much contact with it besides playing with it at some store, but I suppose I can tell you a little bit about my G3
Pros:
+Screen size and resolution - it's just perfect for watching vids, playing games and browsing stuff in your bed. Everything you see is incredibly sharp due to the horrendous resolution. I can definetely say there is a difference between my dad's Z1 (it's FullHD, while Z3C is just HD so the difference is even bigger) and my G3 in terms of clarity of the display. You can literally read ant's-****-sized text.
+Camera - it produces really nice shots, in good surroundings it can give birth to magnificent images you will be proud of. And having the laser focus makes you feel like a James Bond... sometimes
+Performance - yes, the QHD sometimes makes the CPU a bit sweaty, but overall there is little to be desired. You may be disappointed if you expect your phone to switch to landscape mode in a blink, but for a simple user it is absolutely ok.
+Pretty and slim design - not as flamboyant as your favourite drag queen, but I really like the way it looks. Altough it is more like a matter of taste.
+Physical buttons placement - it may seem weird at first, but you will like it.
+Durability - I squeezed it many times in my pocket by sitting or kneeling abruptly, yet nothing happened and after six months my device still looks great. Also, the screen is really scratch resistant, there is no need to purchase any screen protector.
+Great standby time - it will live a looooooong life if you just leave it idle.
+Mod-friendly - easy to root, easy to flash, you can restore it no problem if you screw something up (no fear of permanently damaging the camera like in Z3C's case)
+Removable battery - you will love it if your phone gets stuck for some reason. Just pull the battery and all the bad dreams are gone!
Not-pros:
-Overheating - yep, sometimes it gets hotter than girls in your browser history. Hovewer, it occurs only if you push the phone to the limit.
-Need of tinkering - I mean, LG screwed up the software a little bit so you may want to get rid of some of the annoyances like screen oversharpening (it was so annoying that I've decided to root the device just to repair this one goddamn thing, I couldn't stand my mom's face oversharpened), heating, battery life, etc.
-Battery life - not as good as Z3C's, expect it to have 4-5h SOT and be battery hungry at the end of the day if you use it a lot. There are no perks like Stamina mode, though it can be dealt with through rooting or simply buying a bigger battery.
-Plastic - it doesn't feel as premium as the Z3, it emits some creaky sounds if squeezed, the back of the phone can get scratched if you place it on a harsh surface.
-Dimmed screen - not useless in a direct sunlight, but you will have a hard time reading the text on it.
-Not waterproof - unfortunately it's not as resilient as your ex-friend's head, you shouldn't try to flush it down the toilet.
-No stereo speakers - not like it is really needed on a mobile phone imo, but still.
So the way I see it... if you like small screens, perfect performance, topnotch battery life and water resistance, go for Z3C. But if these things aren't that crucial for you, then you won't be disappointed with LG's flagship child... oh wait, isn't G4 out already? Too lazy to check it, but this can only result in one thing - price drop.

Thanks for your opinion, I've been using the G3 for 1 week or so and I got exactly that, 4-5 hours SOT and at the end of the day you had to charge it. The worse part of the G3 in my opinion it is that it was too big and this made even worse the fragile/slipery feeling.
The camera are great in both smartphones, but just today I saw one which was even more amazing, the Microsoft Lumia 640 XL. I had it a while and besides 5.7 inch it felt very solid and comfortable. Now I'm between going full retard and buy the 640 XL for 200€ or the z3 compact for 350€. Both are the best in battery performance and camera (although 640XL goes a bit higher on both due to wp). But z3 compact being so smal and so good camera and battery...

Maybe it's just me and my sticky hands, but I haven't had any problems holding it. Never experienced any OMG-GONNA-DROP-IT scenarios (just being overly careful after shattering my last Samsung...). Moreover, I heard that the Z3C is more prone to being dropped due to the glass on the back... yet I'm not sure, the one I played with had some anti-theft gizmos attached to its back, so I couldn't compare :d.

Yea, Lumias are great photo-taking devices, but you would have to settle for Windows Phone, which is... well, let's say that not everybody likes it. But it's your call, as an Android fanboy I would, of course, choose the Xperia, even though it's photo capabilities may be a bit behind Lumias.

Would you recommend this phone to a friend? Or another device with Nougat?

Are people still enjoying the Z3+ (E6553)? I read it has Nougat and I want that. My last good phone was a Note 3, but Samsungs have a variety of issues like GPS and dead screens (not to mention exploding batteries) so I am looking at Sony. What do people think?
First of all, the phone is still on Marshmallow, and battery is awful and heat as well, there isn't much development so NO
Hell NO, stay away from this piece of sh*t.
If I returned back to purchasing point, I would grab a nexus 5x over this one. Right now there are numerous great offers and I don't recommend this one.
if a friend dosent play games its really good.
but if a friend would play pokemon go (just for example) an old samsung s3 would be better.
Worst phone, ever.
wow, thanks. Are any Sony phones good?
Also the sony website says the phone is getting Nougat. Is it not out yet?
http://blogs.sonymobile.com/2016/08/23/sony-xperia-and-android-7-0-nougat/
X
X performance
XZ
I don't own any of those, but they all seem good.
I bought the z3 plus for my girlfriend over the summer. Haven't had any issues with it. She plays the occasional game or two. But mostly uses it for Facebook, spotify and texting. Battery life is pretty good. Easily lasts a full day. Finally, haven't noticed any heating issues either. Sony definitely fixed the heating issues that were present when the device first came out. I would recommend the z3 plus if you can get it for a good price.
Got z3+ half a year ago. Using fot twitter, instagram, phone and playing ingress. Got 4-5 hours of ingress, no overheating. I would recommend.
overheating is not happening for me because i just check telegram and instagram but battery is really bad! z5 has the same battery but it is really better than z3+,plz go find something else,if you can buy it i suggest z5,its really good and after you buy sony phone i say you will never buy another companys phone bro
i LOVE the z4/z3+ and heat, for me, is now gone... perfect ( for me ) form factor, awesome screen... I feel like Z4 is THE pinnacle of Xperia's design language, the last flagship to bear the iconic power button.
...the battery life not as great when compared to other newer Xperia offerings which are now already coming down in price. Camera is ok in daylight.
Huge fan... have recently made x compact my daily, mostly for camera and battery,
and have XZ as well, but still prefer the in-hand feel of Z4 and will never get rid of it.
no Nougat.

Sony Phones are just fancy phones. They all are appealing look. But their build sucks. I prefer Samsung over Sony and now a days OPPO phones are better than both Sony and Samsung.
You're in the minority, but I appreciate the opinion

I purchased this phone roughly 10 months ago and have never once during this time regretted my purchase. The phone is very small and comfortable to hold. I cannot compare to specific models, but as far as hardware goes, the phone is by no means outdated and has done everything I've needed it to quick and easily. Battery life has gotten me up to 2 days with light use and the waterproofing is impeccable. The only real downside I can see to this phone is its fragility and the lack of many phone cases on the market to compensate. However, I've found that Incipio made (no longer in stock, might still be able to find though) a great case and I've experienced no damage from countless drops. The phone also unfortunately does not, nor will it likely ever, support nougat.

Thanks for the comment, don't think my mom knows what nougat is LOL...
Not sure if you have searched but you can find them on Ebay for about $160 new. Pretty great deal on the best phone I ever owned. In fact I ordered the parts to fix my screen and then will be selling my Galaxy S7. Only thing I'll miss is the camera on the S7 but the Z3 Compact took some good pictures as well imo.
Z3c is small phone, battery friendly...
Camera isn't best, but not the bad - it's something in the middle
Optinalization is good too, but i reccommend flash xperience rom (best rom ever)
I've had my Z3C for over 2 years now, and apart from a small issue I have now with third party software I've never one regretted buying this phone. Battery life is superb and I can go well over a day and still have something like 20% left and that's with WhatsApp, twitter, phone calls and emails. I have a Case Mate case on mine and its survived all manner of drops.
Have you tried the Cyberian camera app? Looks very promising, only thing I will miss on my Galaxy S7 is the camera but hoping this app gets close to the S7 camera.

Moto Z2 Force $500 @ T-Mobile!

Finally, they've listened and the price has been dropped. This price is exclusive to T-MOBILE though!
yep, just got mine last night, so far so good
Do you still get the projector mod free at that price?

Yep, submitted my request last night. Better get it, one of the bigger reasons I got this phone. Don't think Moto can do anything when a carrier drops their price, you know

kinda wish they would let you choose your mod, i would rather have the Hasselblad camera over the projector
I'm definitely pulling the trigger at the end of the week. A price drop was all that I was waiting on.
Tmobile will adjust the price too if still within your 14 days, just did that today.

I work for TMobile and got all the mods free as well as the phone being the brand ambassador of Motorola. Pony up for it, it's sick.
Got the deal with 2 days left for the projector mod promo submitted my proof so no idea if i will every use the projector but seems cool anyway.
Just bought mine......so far no complaints. Will definitely root this joint later

It's a beautiful device. I have NO regrets whatsoever! I'm rooted and loving it!
Picked mine up a few days ago. The screen scratches very easily:crying: Does anyone know of a good screen protector on Amazon? Other then that it is an excellent phone The performance is great as well as the battery life especially considering the small battery.
I picked up a few of these, for the family and I am working my way through the device. Battery life is great, BUT I think some CPU throttling is going, by Lenovo design--- as my device renders websites, forum threads (xda labs/Tapatalk) VERY slow. Tidal streaming take 20-30 seconds to buffer the first song in HiFi mode. This is very different than any of my other Samsung, LG,Sony phones on the same network, same plan, same city etc. The CPU and 4GB ram should not be this slow, especially when the phone transitions from app to app quickly and scrolling is very fast.
Screen is great at the $500 price, the DPI should be 480 out the box though. 640 is far to big. Also with the huge bezels, they should have made the navbar smaller, directly above the huge lower bezel. Or just capacitive buttons in the huge bottom bezel, like old Samsung devices. It should not be big ole navbar, mated to a big ole bezel [emoji38]
The music/podcast speaker output is awesome for such a thin device and only one speaker. The phone call speaker output is subpar, though.
The button placement is great, but I keep wanting to use the Motorola circle on the back as the finger print sensor [emoji38]. Its in the PERFECT rear position where my fingers sits when holding the phone rt handed.
The audio out dongle is ok, but the noise floor is pretty bad ( for those music based). It works, but this is NOT a multimedia device if that is your focus. Some background hissing, and electronic background noise, almost like a ground issue in the port. I am using some pretty sensitive iems though. If you are using $20 dollar headphones, doubt you would mind.
Bluetooth strength is good, but this output also suffers from the slight interruptions, here and there. Just small minute sound buckling, not full on stopping the songs. It's as if the phone falls out of range for a millisecond. Again I think this is a software background ram/cpu management design.
Also the notifications (silent or sound on mode), interrupt music pretty hard. That's another reason I think the software is throttling the cpu's pretty hard.
Great job TMobile for the unlocked bootloader with a US snapdragon. This may be the only option for rooting a USA 835 CPU based device.
Rooting Kills the warranty though, So I may not root my other devices. As I found out last night, even if you RELOCK the bootloader, the first screen still notifies you of a different OS. Basically no way to return to TMobile for a warranty fix, if something does fail. Early adopters might want to wait a bit to see if a Dev can mask the unlock/relock black screen back to full stock.
Signal strength is great, in my area. The size (slimness) and weight (super light) feel of the phone is amazing for all that's in this phone.
Camera loads fast, images are just OK, but the auto focus speed it good. Not great, just good.
This is basically a OnePlus 5, without the bubble scrolling issue [emoji38].
Back to enjoying a great, low priced, high spec option. Couple this with the projector mod/free offer, this is an AWESOME deal.

tl;dr
most of the things you are complaining or pointing out can and just might be updated or fixed in a custom rom (cpu, speaker output, audio, bluetooth, camera)
my dpi was set at 360 out of the box and can be changed in Developer options/Smallest width
when you get an unlock code from Motorola it states that by just getting the code you void the warranty so yeah, we know that going in
people put too much in the bezel thing, sure an edge to edge screen is cool, but not a game changer (for me anyways). i was gonna get an LG G6 or V30 simply for the fact that both phones are almost the exact same size as my G4 but with a bigger screen. it was basically the price drop and the free projector that pulled me over to the Z2 Force, plus when i tried the camera and saw how fast it was, that helped too

really? it has 3 reviews, 2 of them are 5 stars and 1 is 1 star cause the guy didnt like the fact that it did not cover the entire screen. i wouldnt call that "very bad ratings"
search Amazon or google, im sure you can find one that suits you
The Verizon Flexible Glass Display Protector is the best.
I had last years version on my Moto Z Force Droid on Verizon and it never had an issue.
I have this year's version on my T-Mobile Moto Z2 Force and it works great.
I actually am on my 3rd Z2. First one was pre-ordered and would not connect to voice mail so Tmo replaced it.
2nd one was fine other than the texting issue on Tmo, but I fell for the hype and Jumped to the Note 8.
A week and a half later I jumped back to the Z2 Force and got it for $500
I could kick myself for not waiting to get this until T-Mobile dropped the price. :/
The one thing that's really impressed me with this phone is the battery life, given the smaller (compared with the last Z2) nonremovable battery.

how long ago did you get yours? 2 years ago when i got an LG G4, they dropped the price like this 2 months after i bought it, went back to the store and while they did not give me the full discount, they did give me $80 bucks off, reduced my number of payments by 4 months
