Hey guys, I have a vs980 currently experiencing some phantom touch issues & my first instinct was the stock LG bloat could be falsely accusing the hardware of malfunctioning, so i went about seeking custom development with great satisfaction seeing this device wasn't locked into big red's trickery.
Upon scanning across the custom business around here I found most of the same stack references i remember from the Gpad v400, but when i checked my software info it told me I had a BL version 23m?
& I would love any input as to why I can't find anything about this bootstack, as i don't want to go further than current Rooted status without understanding more but the phantom touches are beyond irritating >.<.
any help is greatly appreciated, Happy New Yearz!
Can anybody draw a conclusion from this yet by chance? Really curious as to where this stack came from since im only familiar with 11a 11b 22a 22b, etc, & assumed that they stuck to this fashion of labeling...
Or maybe the only other reference i could use is K0T49L, maybe anybody has an idea? -.-
Got TWRP on with AutoRec, still really weirded out by this baseband version though, just a little background on this specific device it came direct from an employee @ Big Red, as in their own personal phone. So just wondering could I be running the original beta for KK from JB?
Either way will do a full backup with twrp here in the morning & possibly post the boot partition.

I ran into this article yesterday, How to Flash CyanogenMod 7 ROM Samsung Captivate AT&T, and felt it was about time to learn about this. Plenty of you have already ROOTED your phones, and know from experience, what to do. But, I don't. Right now, I'm stuck with the options of accepting things don't work right, because of AT'T's unwillingness, or inabilility, to correct the issues I have, or reinsiall new, and lose all I've put on, or send back to Samsung for repair, and have them lose all I have on it, or try Rooting and adding a ROM, that may solve my issues. But to do that, I need a little help in understanding it.
First, if I try and run a program, like CyanogenMod 7, and it doesn't work correctly, snd screws up my phone, is there a way I can reinstall Android, and start over, or is that the proverbial kiss of death for my Captivate, and I'm stuck with it like that?
Second, is this the right ROM to try? AT&T can't fix my BLOCKS, of UNKNOWN APPS. The Settings change is easy, you click on activating Unknown, in Application settings..., unless you have no UNKNOWN, to choose. Also, in MMS settings, AT&T shows in a tutorial, that you have the option, of activating Delivery Report and Read Report. It shows this as plain as day, on that tutorial for the Captivate, yet mine, has NEITHER OF THOSE OPTIONS. Also, to TURN ON EDGE, the setting is missing, so I can't activate EDGE, which I guess is no big thing, since the towers AT&T has for us to connect with, THAT ARE 2G, are in such poor condition, no one can connect to them. Thank you, WIFI, for helping me get, ONLINE. Will this, or other ROM's, solve this for me?
If there are any suggestions of how to do this, and what to use, I'd appreciate hearing it from you. Again, I thank any effort, to help me.
1.cm 7 would not be the best rom to flash for your first time.
2. All roms are android, you are running at&t/samsung version of an android rom...
3. Yes you can get back to your stock rom if you don't like/something goes wrong (other than a bad bootloader flash)
4.all custom roms have all the blocking done by at&t removed so switching to 2g(edge) is possible and also faster 3g speeds known as hspa. And unknown sources is in the settings so you can install apps from outside the market.
5.the threads at the top of every section with a little thumb tacks are called stickies, give those a read through.
Like he said above. If you want the pretty much stock experience that your used to but want it fixed then I would suggest starting off with Cognition 4.4 or whatever it is now.

From newbie to a newbie, I took the advice of others and read threads for atleast a month before I flashed my first rom. My choice was Andromeda3, It has a written tutorial and a video on how to from start to finish. From what tools or apps you will need and how to use them , I watched that atleast 6 times and also while I was flashing the kernel and the rom. It may have been overkill but my flash was perfect and I'm real happy with my phone now. You may not go with the same rom I did but do your self a favor and do what I did to prepare for your first flash.
Hey all, I've been away a while simply enjoying (or trying to enjoy) my 'One'. I finally decided after trying almost every single ROM going, converting my phone to GPE then back again and even building my own ROM based on my carrier software that I would actually be happy enough to simply run my Stock, branded H3G software. Mostly due to getting poor signal with anything else..... I had upgraded to 3.62.771.3 and was enjoying most of the upgrades perks however there was something really bugging me from the off...... For whatever reason HTC decided that we no longer wanted or needed the old Video Highlight Themes which came with the older software. They completely removed them and added some new, worse themes! I get the new added functionality of adding your own music but I just can't get past the removal of something that was good!
Basically to cut a long story short I have now re-installed a 4.2.2 Maximus ROM to get the old themes that I loved to use and one of my main reasons for enjoying the phone..... My question is has anyone else been as annoyed by this? Has anyone found a workaround? And does anyone know if the themes are set to return in the impending update to KitKat?? Thanks
Come on, really no-one else is bugged by this???
So I am wanting to add in the stated features on dynamic Kat 3.2 I consider myself as intermediate when it comes to development while I might be new to the site so feel free to use tech terms I've never changed the settings in a rom though never wanted to until I used the s5 rom which lacked stability for me. The question is how to get those settings in dynamic Kat with s5 theme
Ok i played around with it last night and switched all the apps from the s5 port over to the s5theme but after flashing it i now get stuck at the samsung boot animation i also tried just the settings at first but ended up with the same result and thats where im stuck at for now
I will say be very careful and double check all the versions when you tar a new rom. I flashed one wrong boot img and I had to send my note to mobile tech videos for jtag repair. Apparently i borked it so bad that the jtag would not fix it and they had to replace my emmc chip. I considered myself an intermediate after flashing a few htc phones, but the way At&t has this locked down makes it very very hard to get right. Just a word of caution, hope it all gets back to normal!
So far it's all been good I softbricked it once but was able to recover, I can't get them to fully boot I would try to port a rom from T-Mobile but I don't know enough about safestrap(first phone I've had that ever used this) and kernels so for now I'm just waiting for someone else to offer some insight or a stable port which I'm sure will happen eventually
Hello world of XDA!
I recently obtained a LG G2 from Swappa and updated it the 39a update using the Verizon Update Software on my pc. So far, I have rooted and added a ton of data and such to it. The phone is great and I am enjoying almost everything about it, except for the new feature that was generously added to the lock screen. This atrocious little thing I speak of would be the ' feature' where your phone will delete every little bit of information you have on your phone if the password is incorrectly entered 10 times. Basically, I am asking for a way to disable this feature. I know it has it's perks and all, but I don't really want it. Since it's my phone I personally think I should have the choice to remove it. Can anyone inform me of how to accomplish this?
I am running on a Verizon LG G2 version vs980 39a for anyone that needs to know.
Can't post links, so here: Example of unwanted feature at 8/10 - goo. gl/aEWgAq
Bumb - Anyone know how to help with this?
So I have the T-Mobile variant of the LG G4. I had it unlocked straight from the carrier a while ago and all seemed well. Recently I noticed a huge amount of battery drain and 4G LTE usage from T-Mobile's pre-installed apps--mainly com.tmobile.pr or something which is the "My Account" app (imagine being at 60% left with 27% of the drain having been an app and only 9% the screen. Yeah, it was that bad)
This I obviously found unacceptable, so I went ahead to try and uninstall the bloatware. Lo, much to my dismay, Tmobile has locked it down so you can't uninstall the bloatware, and you can only disable it. This alone irked me enough that I wasn't satisfied with just a disabling. I knew I wouldn't rest until I had obliterated it.
I've had plenty of android phones over the years and done my fair share of rooting and flashing ROMs and the like, but I hadn't touched that aspect of my G4 because I wanted a dependable device for school and I didn't want to mess around with it. I knew I'd have to root it to get rid of the tmobile bloatware so I went and did that using the Low effort root method (http://forum.xda-developers.com/g4/orig-development/root-tmo-vzw-intl-variants-soon-root-lg-t3164765). When this was done a lot of my background processes started to continuously crash. I decided to go ahead and put TWRP as the custom recovery and just go ahead and get some dependable 6.0 ROM, and I found a couple of them.
When I flashed the first ROM, the play store services were crashing so I found the google apps package for marshmallow and flashed that too. It seemed to fix the issue. Yet when I would click on my School's WiFi at the setup (which is WPA2 Enterprise) it would crash and say "Unfortunately WiFi has stopped working." I thought that perhaps I mucked something up in the flashing of the ROM, or that maybe there was an issue with the ROM in general, so I decided to just flash another ROM entirely (after factory resetting it all the way). Along the same time as this I found a slightly more modified and feature packed version of marshmallow by this lad here (http://forum.xda-developers.com/g4/development/h815-genisys-rom-1-0-classic-v10g-t3192649). I decided to go ahead and use this one since it had a h811 version there, that involved flashing a h815 and then flashing a patch.
The "Unfortunately WiFi stopped working" issue persisted, however. I found this odd. I then noticed that if I click any other network that ISN'T the WPA2 enterprise network my school is working that everything seems to work fine.
I went ahead and factory reset it all the way again in the hopes that would fix it. No luck.
I booted it to safe mode and tried to connect to the WiFi network from there. No luck.
I downloaded a third party WiFi app off cellular and tried to connect from there. No luck.
I can't enter the WiFi's name and try to enter directly because it crashes there too.
I can't "Forget" the network as it's never joined that network before so there's nothing to forget. It does let me enter the advanced options but a direct press causes it to crash.
So throughout ROMs and wipes and safe modes and all, this one issue has persisted, where my phone's WiFi will crash when it tries to connect to my school's WPA2 Enterprise network. I've tried plentiful fixes short of flashing back to a 5.0/5.11 stock (which I'm hesitant to do because I read something about phones bricking after they downgrade from Marshmallow using the .kdz files or something?).
I'd really appreciate any help that y'all can provide. I've read these forums for ages but this will be my first time making an account because I can't find anybody else with the same issue and its proving to be quite a pain.
tl;dr wifi isn't working with only one particular network and no fix I've tried under this sun has worked so far. help will be appreciated pls
Have you tried flashing this rom here --> http://forum.xda-developers.com/tmobile-g4/development/rom-g4-h811-xtreme-rom-v1-0-7-28-15-t3167667
I am using this one here and I have no issues using wifi. I cannot speak for the 6.0 roms because LG has not dropped the sources for the Tmo variant yet.

I got the brown leather variant from Tmobile and it only says H811 as far as I can tell. Not sure of if its the "n" version or not.
I have not tried that rom but ill be sure to give it a go, hoping it will help solve the issue. I did some additional testing and can confirm the issue lies with all WiFi networks that employ WPA2 Enterprise security.
Will there be any issue with the Rom when downgrading from Android 6.0? I was reading about phone's bricking when trying to downgrade certain versions or bootloaders on the tmobile variants.
I'm pretty sure going back to stock 5.1 will be fine. The Tmo variant hasnt been upgraded to 6.0 yet and the ports don't update the bootstacks. Read here --> http://forum.xda-developers.com/tmobile-g4/development/global-marshmallow-6-0-port-to-h811-t3232760
Update: It seems that any Android 6.0 flash cuts off the ability to connect to Enterprise wireless networks. I went ahead and flashed to the debloated stock rom on the thread you mentioned, but it cut off the ability to record video. As such, I went for the xTreme version that you mentioned, and flashed the camera restores and all.
Everything works fine now as far as I can tell. I also got rid of the Tmobile applications draining the battery and all that. All should be well. Thanks again for the help
