Hi there
After updating to OSS4.0 yesterday, I'm not able to open the menu of Tapatalk Classic with hardkeys anymore. There weren't any problems with 3.5.4. Just used double tab on hardkeys to open menu of apps.
Now I have to use softkeys. Does anyone know a fix without updateing Tapatalk?
I have the same problem in Nova launcher. A few other apps, too

Yes, there are a few more apps with this Issue. Did you test, if it is ok with oneplus launcher?
Yes no problem with OnePlus launcher so far.
With soft keys the same, no menu.

Hi, have either of you guys managed to solve this problem? I have an app which needs a menu button to be used so I've had to downgrade back to marshmallow. If this has been reported to oneplus could you let me know the link so I can +1 it.
Cheers
No till now the problem still exists. I use OnePlus launcher instead for now. I don't know whether this is reported or not.
OnePlus 3t.

This works for me https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=jettoast.menubutton. It's a work around and a bit ugly but it does work.

Root is needed.
Thanks xigzil / Martin Börjesson
If it is good enough I will send request to add to original app.
Later today I'm going to root it and try your app. Thanks

Works for me, except the default setting is "faded pulse", which seems to be unsupported.

It seems like 4X does not support front key brightness control.
Nice work!
Thanks!

It works very well. It would be good if we could change the times for on and off.

I use the app NoLed , it works great and no need to root, you can set the time for how long the notification will stay on.
works great for me!
This app has been working great for me, thanks a lot atipon! However, I encountered a problem that might be caused by this app.
I did an update from V10D to V10F firmware and now the softbutton backlight wont stay on anymore, as set in the system settings. It has been working on V10D flawlessly, but with the new firmware, the lights will go out in a few seconds, no matter if they are set to always on.
Another user has reported, that this setting was working for him on the V10F firmware.
Uninstall app and check that problem still or not.
App does not make any permanent change on phone.
I just did that a second time (uninstall & reboot), but with no effect. Strangely every other setting of light-on durations seem to work, so staying on for 1.5, 3 and 5 seconds, but when set to always on, the light will keep going off after a few seconds.
I noticed, that there is some system file 'br_maintain_on' in the button backlight folder and its content is '0' - could it be related?
Thanks for your help! This issue is really annoying me.
EDIT: OMG, changing the content of this file to 1 did fix it instantly! I'm not sure, if this app caused this behavior to happen but if anyone has the same issue, the exact location of the file is:
/sys/devices/platform/button-backlight/leds/button-backlight/br_maintain_on
EDIT 2: the file will be set to '0' on each reboot, even with read-only permissions and when this app is not installed. It looks like this could be a firmware bug?

Install a custom ROM with them in?
There's a guide around for that. Have a look at the index linked in my signature, it's in there.

Well i went on and gave it a search on that thread. I was unable to find anything related to it. I know that you can enable the soft keys with custom ROMs. I would like to do this with cm10.1.2. Which doesn't have the option built in, I did this with a previous phone I had and was able to disable to capacitive external keys. And enabled the onscreen. Which makes things a lot more comfortable. If anyone has any other ideas, would be very appreciated.

I'm afraid you'll have to put some lines into the build.prop. There's no option to enable them from the menu.

Isn't it the old
Code:
qemu.hw.mainkeys=0
line?
Although this will just give default size buttons with no way to adjust the size.
[MOD][CM10/10.1] On Screen Buttons is for the Galaxy S, but might give you an idea where to start looking if you wish to try developing this yourself.
Or you could try SoftKey Enabler from the Play Store and see if that works on our device - I'm running Magic ROM v2 and love having capacitive buttons so have no interest in tryng this myself.
That's the one. And you can disable the capacitive buttons by editing a file, it's all described there. Of course it's not directly in the index, the guide is linked in the "guides" section. I'm on Tapatalk now, so no way to directly give the link to the right thread.

I installed CyanogenMod 11 on my Galaxy Note N7000, and there are many things that does not work. Just to name a few:
1) rsync gets out of memory
2) Sometimes even listing ONE file gives OOM
3) Stock email notifications do not work
4) Pushbullet notifications do not work either
5) K9 email client stays in syncing loop forever, not working and draining battery (yes, could be a K9 bug, but with so bad memory management I would blame CYM11)
This suggests that the memory management of CYM11 for the note is severely broken. Essentially, an unusable OS.
I'm using nightly builds, since there has been no release version of CYM for the note in more than a year.
I've tried 3 nightlies with the same serious problems.
Does anyone have a suggestion? No Galaxy Note support in cyanogenmod?
Use another custom ROM maybe?
Thanks!
L.
Using Cm11 on my Note for a year now. Never noticed one of the mentioned things. All good.

Interesting! Which CM11 version are you using?
Did you try K9 email client?
Do you get notifications normally? I don't get notifications from the stock mail client, nor with Pushbullet.
But I do get other notifications (like Tasker, Google Play, etc).
Many things broken for me...
Thanks!

Using k9 only. No problems.

No probs either here, but won't update too much, because I use soft keys, even when I do update no problems sometimes force close, but only while unlocking 1 or 3 or 5 or 7 times after each other 2nd time no probs.

The manufacturer says yes, roughly in the middle of the specs page (or at least I read "NFC enabled" as a yes )
I can confirm it does have NFC. Have it turned on tight now.
There is a label at the back telling u the nfc is behind the back camera

You can remove the icon from the dropdown menu by customising it. You don't need Xposed for that.

I'll do it if the earpiece speaker is decent and if I buy the phone.
Could someone who has the mi8 download the app 'soundabout' from the playstore and use it to check if the earspiece speaker is capable of playing decent media?
