Can't root Nougat - OnePlus 3T Questions & Answers

Howdy!
I just updated my 3T to Oxygen 4, Nougat. I need to be able to apply EQ to the default tinny speaker, so I rooted. Except, when I attempt to root, I get stuck on a boot loop. This is using both 2.79 and 2.79sr1.
Is this just me? Anybody else suffering this problem?
I'm getting 6+h SOT with oxygen 3.5.4 so I'll stick with that for now, but I'd quite like to figure out what the cause is.

What version of TWRP were you using to flash SuperSU with? And do you have any luck with phh's Superuser/Magisk?

3.0.3, and flashing Magisk causes the same problem.

Systemless Root (6.01) and Battery % issue (4000) - how to fix?

Good morning,
I was curious to know if there was a confirmed resolution to the issue of the phone reporting an erroneous battery level when using the systemless root method? I am running the stock rom, but want to use the systemless method for root so that I can use apps like Android Pay.
I have read other threads, and some say use a custom rom, others say use a custom kernel. Can I just flash a custom kernel to fix this? If so, which one?
Thanks, just trying to fix this minor annoyance as simply as possible.
What version of SuperSU are you using?
I put 2.65 on it late last week, but I see 2.66 is out now. Does that fix it? Thanks!

Anyone have success with magisk or other systemless root for playing Pokemon go?

I'm wondering if anyone has had success with magisk on the note 4 on epg2 or epe3. I'm currently running AICP on EPG2, 910T on T-Mobile. I wasnt able to find anything in the forums about whether Magisk will work.
It doesn't look like Niantic is going to pull safetynet from the game, and I'd rather not unroot. Anyone tried it? And if so, what Rom did you start with? I was thinking of flashing a deodexed rooted Rom, unrooting, then flashing magisk. Would that work, or do I need to start with a completely stock, unrooted Rom?
Any advice is appreciated!
Well, if anyone else is interested, I've successfully installed magisk, systemless root, and root toggle works perfectly. I even got it to work with ACIP rom, which is a cm13 build, on EPG2 baseband. About to install closed on top of it.

Do Magisk need SuperSU or something else?

I am about to install Magisk 12.0 but never used Magisk before and suddenly unsure if I need something together with Magisk, like SuperSU or similar?

Ok, think I found it.. I can use MagiskSU and that one comes with Magisk-12.zip file?
Also, I see there is some talk about needing to install latest dm-verity and forced encryption disabler? I am running stock OOS 4.1.3 and just need root and perhaps install a custom kernel, for now .
Never mind.. Took a chance and installed twrp, Magisk 12 and Franco kernel and everything seems to be working...

10.2.30.0 EEA causing Magisk to fail?

Since I have my Mi 9 upgraded, Magisk has been pretty unstable.
It will work when the phone boots up, but after a day or so, sometimes merely hours after, Magisk will mysteriously disappear.
manager will say Magisk isn't installed. Apps requiring root will stop functioning as if the phone isn't rooted.
A reboot will revive Magisk, but this problem keeps coming back.
Anyone else have the same issue?
Edit: used latest stable version. Now trying canary build. Both have same problem.

Magisk app not found after updating ROM

Hello everyone, I have a weird issue that I never encountered before. I updated my custom ROM from fastboot, and as always I had to re-root my device after updating. Im under Android 12, so I didnt use TWRP but I used the patched boot image method to reinstall magisk and have my phone rooted. Surprisingly, it seems my phone is rooted correctly, but the Magisk app shows Installed:N/A. A quick google search showed that it could be due to not unhiding Magisk before updating (even If I never did in the past and never had this issue). I tried the solution I found (unistalling magisk from adb) but it didnt fix the problem. Any idea on how to solve this?
