I own a Samsung Galaxy S I-9000.
During a motherboard fix, the flex cable to the power button snapped.
Now I can't start it. Because the powerbutton is gone!
Any ideas how to start it from usb (or other ways)? and remap the buttons?
Thanks

If it doesn't power-up with plain usb connected, I think deskdock craadle will turn power on. See http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=820275 for the required resistor.
For remapping i dunno.

Hi.
Thanks for answers.
I tried android master, but I can't seem to get it to communicate with the device.
And when the program starts up, it says "not numberic" I have downloaded the drivers for the device (Kies) (also tried google's driver, from within android sdk)
But it still won't reboot. When I connect the device to my computer it starts charging and the computer make that (dumDUM) sound that says something got connected. Sorry for being a noob.
Thanks for the help guys, but it still won't work.
Guess I'll have to invest in the Galaxy S2

Can you be more specific?
Like ADB for dummies?
Normal USB-Cable won`t work, you need to mimick Desktop Cradle or maybe Car Dock will work too.
Build a jig, search the thread about download mode jig and change the resistor to dt Cradle version.

Hi everybody.
I've bought the phone today.
It's in mint condition, lcd isn't cracked.
It won't turn on. I've tried to reboot it, it didn't help.
Back and home button is blinking when i release power button.
I've entered to fastboot blindfold with keys, flashed RUU 4.4 rom, that didn't help. But it gave something - phone produces the power on sound.
PC detects it as default - MTP device.
Now it's charging - led is lighting.
What should i try?
i don't think that the lcd is the main problem - it looks like new. i've disconnected it from the housing - no any signs of damage.

Let it charge up fully while it is off. Don't power it up until the LED turns green.

1. It is cosmetically new, no any signs of damage (i know, this don't give a 100%confidence), but that's strange.
2.I think that back and home buttons are connected with display - that means that electricify is supplied.

erm... it's obviously not in mint condition. Take it back for a refund.
Did you try shining a bright light on the proximity sensor while holding power and down?

So the phone can boot (you can hear the boot sound and its correctly recognized by your computer) but there is nothing displayed on the screen = hardware damage. Either a bad LCD, bad cable or even a bad main board (maybe a badly connected cable)
so as said before, return the phone.

While in the Downloading screen, Push and hold vol up and down and power and the main button for a few seconds and you will get a menu that has a reboot normal option

I am trying to get in to the bootloader mode but its not letting me. Its like "fastboot" is enabled and wont go into bootloader mode. Any have success getting into bootloader mode? I tried adb reboot bootloader, it just reboots the phone, doesn't go into bootloader.
I think because it's locked. You'll have to do a bit of research on how to unlock it. I'm not really sure though

When I get to Download mode,it says to push volume up but neither volume up or down responds, so I'm locked out of DL mode.

thank you so much i thought that i was gong to have a panic attack
I have an s6 edge and when I woke up it was stuck on a bright blue "Downloading please do not turn off the device" message and in the top left it had the device name and. binary type and lock mode ect. nothing made the screen go away till i held all four buttons at once for a few seconds. Unfortunately, all that did was lock the screen so now I cant see anying and no button combination seems to work or have any effect. (FYI: My phone was charging when I woke up (it should have full charge))

How to fix my screen (LCD)
Please is there anyone to help me fix my Samsung S6 screen (Lcd) ,the phone has fallen down and develop a big straight line on the screen which is deflecting my viewing .Anyone to help me get a second hand screen or lcd willng to send it to Zimbabwe please,Help
I got a rainbow screen just now that would go away if you tapped but would come right back. My battery drained from about 60% to 5% in a few seconds. I restarted normally and it booted into the Downloading Please Do NOt Turn Off bright blue/green screen. Followed instructions to hold the volume down, power, and home keys and got to the reboot screen. Booted into safe mode and plugged my phone in, within about a minute the rainbow screen came back and my battery (which was charging) drained away the last 5%.
It's off and charging now, does anyone have any idea what's causing this to happen?
what can you do if that still doesn't do nothing....
please help my phone get power off and my power button is broken and i cant turn it on. after few try now its always enter to recovery mode but cant select any option dont have button try to connect pc but not reconigze in recovery mod thanks
You officially have a paper-weight now. Does anyone know if there is still a "USB JIG" option for the Note8 and the USB Type-C port?

yes and dont know what to because my screen is a little bit broken and they will charged me new screen for power button
The only way to go would be to change the motherboard, sorry, I always install some apps to reduce the use of the power button since day one, I use gravity screen to awake the screen, and invisible widgets to turn it off, and shortcutter to make a tile to call the power menu, so, I only use the power button to ACTUALLY power the device ON

Here it was, I thought I was being conservative by using fingerprint unlock to save a few presses on my power button.
I wonder if the OP has a saved alarm set to go off at a specific time. I then forgot that the alarm clock doesn't work when the phone is off.

^^^That is taking it too far now. I assume you use wireless charging to save your USB port, and SSH to access your phone remotely, to save your phone from screen burn-in?
Edit: then there is bluetooth speakers / headphones to save the built in speaker.
Hahahaha! Only the wireless charging part too!
i got mine to turn on by doing the downloazd mode, then plug in to a copmputer. it turns on and starts in download or upload or recovery mode, but i cant get it to restart and boot

Sorry to correct you, but it's power and volume UP ! not down! Of course what's important is to have the phone connected via USB cable to a PC, or pen drive, power bank etc, otherwise it will just boot to normal Android OS.

Why on samsung an additional step ( to connect to usb) required ?
All others can open recovery with buttons itself

Not necessarily, any USB-C to USB-A cable should work. Make sure the phone is completely switched off. You need to press vol up+power for some time until the Samsung splash screen changes to the recovery mode.

Is this of any help:
Have you enabled developer mode and you have it set up for USB debugging already? If so you can use the ADB command line to restart your phone by issuing the following from a command prompt in the directory you installed ADB/Fastboot or anywhere if you put them in your path variable -- "ADB reboot recovery"
If you're not having any luck with that, you may need to reset (NOT factory reset, that will wipe everything) press and hold the volume down key and the bixby/power key and hold them for a 15 second count, even when the device powers off. This combination will power it off no matter what. After the slow count of 15, release the keys, plug in your USB cable, and press and hold power/volume up key as the previous posters instructed you - until the phone starts and you see the logo - this should boot you into recovery mode as well.
Is your phone booting into the system? If so, a 3rd option you may avail yourself of is an restarting app for non-rooted devices such as Shutdown, there are several, read the descriptions and pick your poison from the Google play store (If you're running a stock device make sure the app you choose doesn't require root) it will however, require you to grant accessibility permissions - full control of device and SHUTDOWN in order to function - and that will give you the option to reboot to recovery mode.
Good Luck, L4XS
