Sound quality

Guys, will be having my Incredible S in a few days. I wanted to ask what is your view on sound quality and bass as compared to phones like nexus S?

Is your nexus s rooted/voodoo sound? The incs is no match for the nexus s. Sorry to say, but the incs has a no name crappy DAC. The Nexus s has a nice Wolfson DAC (i think?)
I nearly bought a nexus s just because of the music quality. Its still supposed to be the best phone for sound quality.
But, if you have a DSP eq installed its better but not as good imo
Hope that helps and doesn't steer you away from this beast phone

DSP made the sound awesome for me Cannot really compare it to my Galaxy Nexus cause my headphones just died when I got my new phone. Gotta wait until christmas and than I can say sth to this

Earphones compatibility discussion

Making a list of headphones with remote button working on OB
(the remote button functions 100%, or the sound from the earbuds are as they should)
Some earphones are incompatible, or partially with our phone (remote button not working or sound is really messed up or no sound at all) probably due to the type of connector used on the headphone 3.5 jack (2-pin to 4-pin)
a-JAYS One+ - working
Philips Citiscape Underground - unknown
Philips SHE9005A - working
Samsung Stock Earphones - working
VIBE BlackAir - unknown
Beats Solo HD - working (partially)
Apple Headset - working (partially)
you tell us if yours work fine

Maybe someone can share if they use a headphone (from sennheiser, philips, any brand) with 1 remote button for answering call/pause/resume music and confirm if their earphones work alright..

Thanks for your answer! Also I was wondering if headphones with more than a remote control actually uses 4-pin, 1 remote button uses 3-pin and no button uses 2-pins...

Hmm in the end he bought something completely different from what i asked him to -_-
lol anyway he bought the Philips SHE9005A.
He tested it and says it has top notch sound, but I never trust my dad's ears xD
So stoked to test it when he returns!!

Well, the sound is an individual thing.Someone likes more bass, someone more clarity, someone a flat sound and so on.But I agree that you cannot trust some other's ears.Especially old people as your dad is and I am.

Samsung Wave stock headset ( EHS48ES0MECINU ) works.
But the big question for me is is there any headset with media buttons that works on the OB ?

Beats Solo HD, works like a charm, both cables, but you cant skip your tracks using controltalk, cause this LG isnt iphone or HTC

I have used two different SkullCandy earphones with my OB, both work fine.
Im currently using This
Superb sound quality and volume, good mic too.

Audio Quality

Hello guys,
Sorry if there is already a thread like this. I searched the forum before, but the Tapatalk search function is really bad.
So: how is the audio quality? Can it replace a Cowon iAudio player? Sony is a big player in terms of sound equipment, so I put quite much hope in them.
I am not one of this guys whose spend lots of money in things like cables and portable amps. But I have really high requirements in sound quality, my Galaxy Nexus and Nexus 7 could not satisfy me, neither my iPod classic.

Standard isn't too bad, speaker is a bit week, but with above and tweaking settings, it's good, better with headphones.

you are asking a lot for a phone and being cheap. Unlock your phone, install the kernel by dooom, by far that help me out the most, but dont expect it to be a blessing by the gods.

XZ stock sound is rubbish, ear piece is to quiet ect but after you have you new toy then root install CWM for locked BL and flash PureXAudio to a point you will have to turn volume down. Just remeber on locked BL please dont factory reset/wipe cache because i am sure i will see you in Q&A with bootloop problems.
You dont want to unlock your BL yet not intill you are happy and comfortable with what are doing/modding

Stock sound not good.
Root and install PureXAudio. The quality will be fantastic great!

Now... PureXAudio or this Viper thing?

Why is stock sound (earphone, not loudspeaker, the louspeakers are too soft) bad? The audio chip used is the Qualcomm WCD9310, which ranks just below Wolfson but beats everything else as far as audio quality goes.

With my very limited knowledge, I think Sony hasn't fully utilised the capabilities of the chipset.. But PureXAudio does that for you

The Xperia Z + PureXAudio can replace the Cowon iAudio Player for sure. I had a chance to hear both of them and the Z tops it.

Yeah, thats really good news. What about noise/soughing when WiFi is on? With my N7 and Urabnears Zinken/Xears , I can hear hum and noise in the background when surfing using WiFi...

No problem at all. Not even with my bluetooth set. I'm also using the PureXaudio mod and each time I listen to music I have the feeling that I'm in heaven. It's pure quality.
I haven't tried the other mod (don't have any reason to), so I can't say anything about it.

Try Version 11 of Pure X audio..its the loudest..i still use it and didnt upgrade as higher versions are lower.

It v15 now on purexaudio.. Better quality now and view chngelogs.. :thumbup: i recommend purexaudio mod.. Im using it so far.

I just came from a Note 2 and I honestly have to give the edge without question to the One. Headphone and speaker quality/loudness, they nailed it.

Even with the voodoo sound / boeffla sound support? I'm talking about the headphone jack and not the speakers btw

You'll get a lot of crazy opinions on this since so much depends on the headphones you use, personally I thought it was much better than the gnote 2 but I also changed earbuds when I changed phones... I'll bet any store with demo units will let you plug in your headphones to each and compare any phones you want.

Yeah too many factors lol, loving the sound quality on my note 2 and I sure do not wanna get a new phone and feel bad about it afterwards. Are there a lot of optimizations going on with the kernels and roms for the one?

Audio quality bluetooth

Hi. Im really thinking about getting a z1. A thing wich is very important for me is quality in the sound via bluetooth. Use jaybird bluebuds x alot when im working out, so its important to have really good range, high enough volume and good sound. Have the boeffla kernel with excellent quality on s3.
So any thoughts about this?

I use Beats Wireless. I used to have s3...after I moved to Z1 I did not see any difference. But you know they say that Z1 doesn't have as good sound as s1 which was the best on galaxy family. For me the sound quality is OK, but not great.
Go to some mobile phones shop or carrier shop and just try if it is good enough for you...

I'm using the backbeat go 2 sound quality and volume are excellent for music and videos but somehow for gaming their is some microsecond delay....
But that's a android problem, BTW Bluetooth audio quality is better than my note 2...

hi z1 has apt-X so it's high end buetooth transmission (you can notice when U conneco to bt aptX anabled device it says "you are connecten to apt-X device" or sth like that )
