Hi all, so my problem is that I can't download anything (images, sounds, videos, other files) from any website. Chrome just saying Download paused, Firefox doesn't show any notification. I used ADM for a month, but that app gave up too, it's just saying 'receiving information'. I tried app data cleaning on those 3 apps, and on the stock download manager, wiping cache, dalvik, but still no luck. What else can I try?

Did you allow your browser apks to access media?
Check in settings->apps->chrome->permissions and also in chrome->settings->advanced->website-settings (since I use German as system language and did this from memory, the names may be a bit inacurate, but I belive you get the point.)

Strange. Then we need a logcat (from directly after a failed download - the last 500 lines should be sufficient).

Do you have installed any xposed module dealing with ip (adblocker for example), sepolicy and/or media (aka /data/media)? Sugestion: get new twrp-3.0.3-1-beta1, take a complete nandroid, factory reset and reflash rom, and check downloading (don't waste time on xposed unistaller, when hunting down issues). I bet to 90% on xposed-module.

Yes. Uninstall and try again.
I am also getting an install error.
I have tried to uninstall the existing 1.1.1 version using the Expsetup but still won't install.
I'm thinking that clearing all associated data for facebook would help but don't know the directories etc that I would need to delete.

Where to get Facebook 1.1.2?
I unistalled V1.1.1 but still cant install new version 1.1.2!!! went to aplication manager and found a file that says com.facebook.katana but doesnt let me do anything with it.
Any ideas?
If you're having problems uninstalling, that's because you used an update.zip and it is installed in the system/app folder. You have to use terminal or adb to mount the folder as rw to remove it.
My question, though, is it better than the one from droid? Cuz if not then I don't want to waste my time updating...

Most importantly would be to ask how do you get your system back to normal so you can install updates later.
I know at one time I messed with my prop file to install the Nav at one time. I wonder if that could be a problem. I removed the Facebook app, but it told me it wasn't compatable so I wonder if it that prop file is affecting anything.
Put the original build.trout.prop file back in the /system folder. Deleted the old Sholes/droid version via the market and it installed without a hitch.
It doesn't seem to like a modified prop file.
To me personally it looks just like the droids version except the white bar at the top is fixed.
Heres the line you want to change back.
ro.build.fingerprint=tmobile/kila/dream/trout:1.6/DRC83/14721:user/ota-rel-keys,release-keys
or upload this buid.trout.prop file to your /system folder. Just drop the .txt from the end.
EDIT.
After fighting a bit with the prop file I ended up just reflashing the rom that I originally installed which over wrote the modded prop file. Now I'm back to the orginal file and then I used the APK provided here.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=5147596&postcount=16
After that I uninstalled it via the market and reinstalled it now I'm back to where I should be.
So you could use that stock prop file, but after 5 or so tries it was sorta mixed results.
Anyone got the apk? I tried the site posted above but nothing happened.

Yes, the newest nightly doesnt have live wallpapers by default. You have to delete some other stuffs.
Ringtones, some fonts are safe to delete. (and those asian fonts eats up at least 8Mb...)
I can't make it work too. I tried to delete some stuff, but I don't know what is safe to delete or not.
I don't need Live Wallpapers and so on, but the apk isn't in the zip file anymore.

Try booting ROM form that post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=32403158#post32403158
Its already prepared for booting. Before that you better wipe all user data and cache - it should work after that

Edit: Works after a restart, but now it tells me every minute that text-to-speech has crashed. >.<
CM10 boot issue with latest nightly
Greetings all, I am new to this forum so bear with me
I have just tried out the latest rom from this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1445209
(I am currently running CM9)
It boots to a blank screen with just the bar at the top, which seems to work, but no home screen to be seen :crying:
I understand there won't be a wallpaper, but I should see icons, right?
I have cleaned all the caches and reset to factory before installing, but nothing ..
I do not have the /data partition though, is that necessary?
Thanks,
B.
You should have wallpaper, only the live wallpapers were deleted by default.
I guess, the problem is your /data partition. It's necessary to wipe it if you upgrade your rom. Wiping it should solve your problem.
Well, after some restarts it's working. But Angry Birds isn't running and World of Goo is lagging. Isn't the great project butter working?

Hmm, I don't have a /data partition yet ... I guess that is the problem.
Question: If I create a new SD card with a FAT32 partition at the start and an EXT3 at the end, can I just copy my phone SD card contents
including hidden files to the FAT32 partition, put it in the phone and all will be good?
I am guessing that the OS will find the partition and create a mount point for it and that I don't have to do that, right?
Thanks,
B.

Project Butter improves the reactiveness of the UI and increases the framerate.
But the reason for games not working is a lack of RAM (in 90% of the cases).
To circumvent this you need to use a kernel that supports zRAM and/or swap.

So I created the card with the new partition and it works fine with my CM9 backup from nandroid.
When I try to install CM10 I deleted all the caches, factory reset etc and installed CM10.
When it eventually booted to the setup wizard, I enter all the information and it says it is complete, but then on exit the wizard dies and I am left with the status bar and a black screen ..
I tried re-booting, but it won't boot until I go and delete the caches etc again ..
What's wrong?:crying:
Did you wipe everything from recovery? Because doing a Factory Reset might not be enough.

What does "Did you wipe everything from recovery" mean? If you mean did I execute all of the three menu options in recovery, then yes I did that.
However, I do have it going now ... but only after many resets .. and I got stuck on the setup app crashing ..
I am using it and have found it a bit flakey .. slows down at times and the keyboard goes away sometimes, I have to use the hard keyboard.
EDIT: Found the reason for that was voice typing was on for some reason.
I also noticed that the font is very light (alsmost un-readable) in contacts, I have to hold the phone at an angle to be able to read the names.
Here is the cure for the font problem:
Open "HWA Settings" and disable "Contacts" and "Messaging".

Cool thanks, that did it ..:good:
So what is "HWA Settings" anyway?
If an app don't need hardware acceleration, than it will ask the system to not to do it, but sometimes it's just not working properly and with HWA Settings we can disable the hw acc on that app.
Ive read that Xposed for Lollipop has issues with Sygic.
Is this true??
UPDATE 2015 10 10: rovo89 has taken a personal look at the problem and it seems to be fixed in later versions of Xposed. Here is his comments thruout this thread if you don't want to read the entire thread (like I had to do):
rovo89 said:
Could you try this test build please? It fixes a problem that results in crashes (dump contains "art::Field_get"). It also disables Xposed's resource hooking mechanisms inside the Sygic process, as they have implemented something very similar which also replaces resources at low level.

Forgot to mention that after flashing this, you have to clear the Dalvik cache or reinstall Sygic. Obviously, tests only make sense if you're using the original/unpatched app and experience crashes with Xposed v70.

rovo89 said:
That's totally correct, but for the average user, it's a much simpler to simply delete the whole cache or reinstall the app.
Cool, thanks for testing! So I'll publish an official update soon with these fixes and also commit and push them to GitHub. I'm pretty sure that the authors of unofficial versions will quickly pick them up.

There's already an option that disables resource hooking completely for the whole ROM. That's useful in case the ROM itself comes with resource-modifying code. Sygic is the first application I'm aware of that "hacks" the system code at such a low level. So I don't think such an option would be required, and in most cases, people wouldn't know exactly when to use it, which would result in strange bug reports for modules which stop working if you disable the wrong thing.

I can't make any sense out of this. It's looking for the class com.flurry.android.FlurryAgent and can't find it. It doesn't seem to use the app's class loader though but the system class loader, so maybe that's a bug on their side. Then again, this might not even be the root cause, as it only tries to load this class because something in Android_ContactsReadNext seems to have failed. If you use any kind of privacy app or ROM feature that might block access to contacts, that could be the reason. It might also be a contact with invalid or too long fields. Have you tried if the same issues appear without Xposed?

You probably mean the general issues with Sygic that I've fixed with v71. There seems to be an (individual?) issue where the app still crashes when going to the contact selection, but works fine otherwise.

Simply boot into TWRP, and mount system, then Advanced -> File Manager then do the following:
Go into /system/bin/ and delete app_process32 and app_process32_xposed
Rename app_process32_original to app_process32
Delete dex2oat and rename dex2oat.orig to dex2oat
Repeat the above step for oatdump and patchoat
Go up a directory and then into the lib directory
Delete libart.so and rename libart.so.orig to libart.so
Repeat the above step for libart-compiler.so, libart-disassembler.so and libsigchain.so
Delete libxposed_art.so
Go up a directory and delete xposed.prop
Go into framework directory and delete XposedBridge.jar
Reboot your device.
Yeah, Sygic is completely broken with Android 5.0 and Xposed.
Any fix to sygic 15.x.x on android 5 + xposed?
Thanks all!!!
AFAIK, Sygic is working on this problem, but it is a low priority issue for them, so they didn't wrote any ETA.
Well. That's a big problem. I've been waiting patiently for xposed and now that it works I cannot use Sygic (btw it costed me 15€ Eur+Russia). Legally, you should try to search and download an official apk of version 15.0.4, install it and disable auto update in Play Store.
The app you search for is called RootCloak but it does not make any difference.

Well. To be onest with you I found only modded apk. And it bothers me because I don't wanna use a cracked app when I paid for it. Thanks anyway. No xposed for now.
Can someone give the 15.0.4 package. The support gives me only the 15.0.9 package which is crashing at start too..
Thanks
I'm running Sygic 14.7.4 on my device with Xposed and it's fine with 2014.09 TA maps. 15.x.x does not work-crashes.
Same issue here, tried to find 15.0.4 as well, but only cracked versions laying around which I don't want. There are basically two options:
- disable xposed, reboot, use Sygic, then enable xposed, reboot (time consuming)
- use another navigation (Copilot, Tomtom,..)

Disable xposed? How? Did you try disabling all the modules? The problem is that if you want to disable xposed completely it is a long process. I mean I cannot wait 20 minutes every time. And I don't wanna use a very old version of the app. There should be a workaround.
Surely, this is Sygic 15.0.4 original (official) version:

Create an empty file /data/data/de.robv.android.xposed.installer/conf/disabled, which causes Xposed to be bypassed:
For example from TWRP or terminal type this command and reboot:
Code:
touch /data/data/de.robv.android.xposed.installer/conf/disabled
You can create flashable file, or terminal shortcut to speed up the process. To enable Xposed again, just delete the "disabled" file (through file manager or from terminal again).

All you really need to understand are the setup steps. This module prevents app data from being deleted when you use TWRP's "wipe data/factory reset feature".

No extra space is taken, as data is moved, not copied.
I installed this and it erased all my app data, ironically enough. Make sure you have a backup before installing.
After typing "adk" it finds all the apps, but after typing "." it lists every app with "pm: not found". After a reboot, the apps are not installed. Am I doing something wrong?

That's really f**ked up... same to me. I think there was no error on my side while following the "install-reboot-forget" process. Only the lib folders had been moved/binded somehow to the SD folder, no base.apks and no odex-blobs(?).
The result was a totally broken system. Sorry, but IMHO the Dev should not proclaim it that way as long as the script seems to be in pre-alpha ... All log files in /data/media/adk/logs/ are empty, too!

Never ever try magisk stuff without nandroid or other backup in backhand.
I, like everyone else posting here, fell for this extension and lost all my app data.
I'm not sure if this extension is buggy or if we are simply too stupid to get it running but here is what I did:
install
reboot
forget (about all my app data as all apps seem to have lost their data)
I then opened a terminal, typed adk as instructed and am getting:
permission denied. Can't create /data/media/adk/logs/res_apks_verbose_log.txt: permission denied
typing su before adk does indeed give me a list of apps which seems to get longer every few minutes.
Maybe its still busy copying? I'll give it some more time. Not sure what's up though, are we supposed to wait for the ap to copy all app data over then do an initial restore? Or is it not correctly "linking" the apps to the new app data storage?
###edit###
I did not immediately remove this extension as I thought to give it some time. I then rebooted and its now hanging at the boot screen saying: "Starting up ... please wait" - this section usually only takes a few seconds but I've been staring at this screen for minutes now. I'll give it 30 minutes, maybe it is still busy copying all my APKs and app data to the SD card? I mean I was already wondering how this can only need one simple reboot to be ready...
I'll update this thread if I have any new findings as the extension description sounds quite logical so maybe we're all doing something wrong

you're right he did. I didn't say I don't have a backup I only said the extension isn't behaving as advertised OR I don't get how to use it.
Also, he should change that sentence from "recommended" to mandatory if his app wipes app data

I have disabled the extension and rolled back my backup. I'm still wondering what went wrong here as the extension actually created the right folders on my SD card. Somehow the links seem to have been missing. I didn't dare try a restore via "adk ." as it was unclear what else could have gone wrong.
I would however appreciate some feedback and clarification from the author.
Exist an easy way to export magisk module list? Export and import?
Clarifications needed... Which list are you talking about? The entire Magisk repo or just the ones you've installed (I'm gonna guess the latter)? And for what purpose?

only the one i have installed. full list for backup / reinstall purpose. installed and not active. xposed ha a function to export /import list. I like it.
If you just need a backup, make a backup of the Magisk image (/data/adb/magisk.img). That's where all modules are kept (for now, this might change in a future version of Magisk).

I do this all the time.. back the files in location mentioned above to ext sdcard...wipe device for a clean flash (all except ext sdcard/EFS obviously)...flash new ROM, then flash gapps, then flash magisk, then still in TWRP, I copy the files back to correct location and reboot

Where are the ZIP files located, in case I just want to backup those rather than the img?

Zip files are not saved. It gets extracted in to the location as mentioned in this thread. But each time you flash a module the zip file is downloaded in to Download folder of your internal storage. Save it for future use.
Now /data/adb/magisk.img is no more used... What folder must I backup?

That's an old post you're quoting, and the last part of it has come true...
All modules are currently stored in /data/adb/modules.

All modules are currently stored in /data/adb/modules. Would the concept of copying the files back to the correct location still work after a reboot?

I actually havent tried it since the change from the img method
I can tell you i do backup and restore the magisk.db file....i have a Galaxy Active2 Watch, and if it even sniffs root i have to reset the watch and start over to get Samsung Pay working. So i flash the ROM/GApps, then Magisk, reboot and setup the ROM and Magisk, set my Android ID back to the previous one (to avoid having to reset the Watch, and have it connectable in Gear app) then copy the magisk.db to /data/adb, then reboot. Then enable MagiskHide, and hide Magisk Manager. When i restore my apps the Samsung ones are already in the MagiskHide list and Samsung Pay works as before, once i reconnect the watch.
Next time i flash ill try copying back the /data/adb/modules and let you know

Just a quick update
I was about to flash a new ROM for testing, and thought about doing the test...copy the modules folder from /data/adb, and restore on new ROM and then realised that not all modules im using are going to like that, as some set symbolic links during install and some now use filesystem overlays as well (thinking busybox and Vanced Youtube)
Ive just decided rather than copying im going to stick with what works 100%, and install them by hand one by one
