MagSafe style chargers - Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Accessories

What are the better brands of the MagSafe style charging cables and magnetic adapter?

I've tried many. There's only one good choice:
https://www.amazon.com/iKNOWTECH-Ma...id=1483919708&sr=8-1&keywords=wsken+micro+usb

I use the Sojitek ones, its a round nub, its charging only though, no data, and you can get a free cable or tip when you review them.

Lol that it does, but I have a rugged case so it's not that noticeable. I've read too many reviews of the other mag nubs shorting out the charger brick or USB hubs so I tend to stay away from those.

I actually found a smaller type. Giving it a try!

It's a cable. It's as efficient and as fast as the charger you plug it in to.

[Q] External battery pack in your pocket?

If I use the cord that comes with Glass, with the plug that goes at a right angle, could I plug Glass in while I'm wearing it, running the cord behind my ear and down my back to a battery pack in my pocket?
It might looks ridiculous, but I'd feel better knowing I had the option...

Which pack did you end up buying? I think google recommends using the wall charger that came with the Glass. And that charger charges at .25A. I wonder what the long term effects of charging it at over 1A ? Anyone have any ideas please chime in!
Sorry, I meant that I was ordering Glass! With the new version future-compatible with prescription lenses and the possibility of finessing an external battery pack, my reservations are just muted enough for me to pull the trigger.
I hadn't seen that about the charger. I have an Anker with 3A output. I may have to look into something with fewer amps, I guess?

I was thinking the same thing, if someone manufactures one of the tiny/thin curly cables like some security detail wears it would be a great combination for glass, I'd just keep the usb battery in a jacket pocket, or even on a hip clip...
With a clip for the neck of your shirt, with a micro usb end, and a USB A connector... I'd be all over it!
which one is the best one??
I do this now, I use a xtreme pax by new Trent

The Glass will only charge at the rate that it is capable of charging at. If Glass draws 0.25A when it charges, that's all it will do even if you plug it into something capable of delivering 1 trillion Amps. The charging circuit is in the device, not in the plug you stick in the wall. BTW, same thing with phones/tablets. The important thing is for the plug to be capable of delivering MORE than what the device needs.

Yup.
I have had GREAT results with an Anker 12000 mAh battery pack and a right-angle MicroUSB cable.
3 foot version of this is great for going to a jacket pocket:

what is the best pocket sized external battery pack? prefer small and thin

The one will be my first android without a removable battery. I am concerned for business trips and want an external battery. What is small and thin with at least 1800mAh? What do you like?
I don't know how small and thin you want it to be, but I've been using the following for the last 7 months or so. I love it. They even have a smaller capacity one that's even thinner, if this doesn't fit your criteria:

This is the one I use and have gotten several friends to use. The nice feature for me is that it will charge your phone/tablet at 2.1 amps. Most are only half that. It's def pocketable but it's not slim.
How about this one? Same company, price, capacity, but 2A instead of 1.

The anker products are great! i bought the Anker Astro Slim3 . but the things missing on it is that it has no color choise, you cant tell how much battery left (only when it's 25,75 or 100%) and if you have a case on your phone, the built in charging cable wont fit into the micro usb port.

I have this, its great anker is know for great batterys
I have an Anker 6000mah battery 2nd gen and Its awesome, a bargain and super portable. The wire is perfect to charge my phone while it's sitting in my leather holster pouch while the battery charger is in my pocket. I can use my phone freely in the setup I described without needing to feel the need to disconnect the charger. Its small and has way more slack then the Astro but not as thin. The Astro had way to short of a cable for me. Hope that was helpful.

Has anyone used a magnetic usb cable with there m8?

Hey everyone, I have just seen these usb adaptors that clip into your usb port. Then magnetically connect to a USB cable for data/charging. Anyone using one? Would you recommend?
Here is an example
WSKEN XCable Magnetic USB Cable
https://www.amazon.co.uk/WSKEN-XCable-Performance-Compatible-Smartphones-Silver/dp/B00XJQHBOA
Interesting. I didn't know those were available. I wonder how well they'd work with the M8...
Looks like its a standard friction fit in the USB port, but you leave it inserted all the time. The magnet is only used to connect the cable to the port adapter.
The perk of wireless charging because it doesn't wear out your port, but it should be a lot more efficient and run a lot cooler than using a wireless charging adapter.
I may have to order a few. I wonder if it will play nice with quickcharge2.0... hmm...
Hi, yes, interesting. I can see a big advantage from not pluging/unpluging.
But from the photo it looks like the flat magnetic part will cover the headphone socket.
Anyone tried this (or similar) yet?

I don';t think it will because if you look at the picture you can see the "plug" you put in your phone is the same width as the other end of the cable, I just compared that to a USB cable I have here, seems to be enough room, but not for big 3,5mm plugs I think, I think it would leave like 2mm space
Hi, had a quick look on Amazon and they have similar ones with the plug in part that looks smaller. only thing is some reviews say they fall out too easily. Also needs to be checked with clearance for your own case (if you use one).
If I see one in a shop I would like to give it a try though.
It has really bad reviews. I am looking for a good replacement cable. Don't know why HTC doesn't sell them for the M8 or M9. I have tried different brands Anker and they are junk. Can't find a good cable that doesn't wear out. Any advice would be great.

If I just touch the nub, that's inserted in the phone, to the end of the cable, it hops on perfectly connected and charging. One of the best (and fewest) things I ever ordered from China. I hate waiting for non-domestic orders, so I try to avoid them as much as possible. Magnetic usb charging is now my favorite new unnecessary luxury in my gadget life.

Is the cable part reversible? It looks like it would be, but there is no info in the listing to indicate definitively if the mag part has to be in a specific orientation.

Yes it is. You can flip the magnet end either way (upside down/right side up) and it will grab and hold pretty firm. Notice it has an even numbered amount of pins (10 - two rows of 5) this is key to a "flip-able" attachment.
Hi,
Well, nearly 8 weeks later and my magnetic cables just arrived. From China to Dubai with Christmas and New Year in between so...
The good news is they are excellent. Very tight to get in the usb port (which is good), very small and fits with my phone cases. As said above, its reversible.
Bought from tim-hpx on ebay.

Official Samsung Fast Qi Wireless Charger

I would really like to purchase the Samsung Qi fast wireless charger
but I have a few questions about it before I buy one.
#1: How much slower is the fast wireless Qi charger when compared to
the standard samsung fast usb charger which comes with the phone?
#2: Does the phone get hot or very warm when it's charging wirelessly?
#3: Does the phone charge slower when it has a one piece case on it?
Thanks in advance,
Have a great day!
#1, add around 30% time to charge
#2 Not that i have noticed
#3 Depends on the case

I bought one from here and it was legit (not fake). Buy one and if you don't like it, send it back. I dock my phone every night I go to sleep. It has a very quite fan noise and the charging light notification is bright, but some electrical tape can take care of it.

I have both, the flat and the tilted charger from Samsung. I got an extra at Radio Shack going out of business, gutted it, and put it under the cubby hole in my car to charge while driving. The flat one I have next to my computer and use it rarely. The tilted charger, be warned. The lip of it where the phone sits is extremely narrow; 3 weeks after I got my Edge 7, it became an Olympic ski jumper, slid off the charger, off the desk, and right into the metal rail on my bed and cracked the housing at the charging port. I really only use the home chargers when I go to bed, and the one in my car while driving 40 miles to and from work. I like them because I've been getting Ringke cases that have port covers, and using the wireless, I don't risk marring the finish trying to connect a cable. It's funny how many people see it, either at work, or when I installed it in the car, and really like the idea. I never take my case off to charge, and never really notice it being any hotter than if I were using it for an extended time period.

I know, but you are thinking of buying one. I'm simply giving you a link, if you decide to buy one, to a REAL Samsung fast wireless charger for a good price. The market is flooded with fake ones at low prices. Usually, if the price is fairly low, then it's a fake Samsung product.

Every time i use it (with s6 edge+ or s7 edge) it charges, no problem at all, even with the cases (s6e+ has verus high pro shield and s7e has spigen case rugged armor)
I don't have Samsung QI Charger, I got my QI Wireless Charger from Anker, Very great quality for the half of price and do the same job
Since i am not using fast charging via cable and always charge the regular - slow - way so i got the regular one from Anker, Charge time is as same as the cable time.
No major heat or something just the regular warmth, and working fine with cases.
I like it, very easy to just place the phone and wake away , no cables or USB Port damage, Won't back to regular charge

I have two of them. Stand.
#1: 20-30%
#2: It gets warm even with the fan at the back of the charger running all the time. Not hot and not very warm.
#3: Not in my case and I have cases with different thickness.

It's good quality, same red as the one in the box but it's a flat cable.
I went for the big boss bundle
But even 1.5m is pretty short. I have some circumstances -- mainly hotel rooms -- where a longer cord would be really helpful.
I recall reading that there is non-standard circuitry in the cable to alert the phone that it's a Dash charge, so a regular USB-C cable won't do Dash.
What I am wondering is whether a high-quality USB extension cable -- one cable of handling the amperage of Dash charging -- would solve the problem.
I have ordered one from A**zon and will report back when it arrives.
Still any news of a Dash-capable cable longer than 1.5M would be very welcome.
If anyone still want to have cheaper (but dash-charge capable) 1.5m cable, here is link from AliExpress:
http://s.aliexpress.com/mARzyIjY
I have had it since few months, it's working fine, it is flat, a LOT cheaper and longer than standard cable. Only disadvantage is that flat cable is a bit more hard, not so flexible. I don't even care if it's original or not if it's working fine with Dash Charge [emoji14]

The result is a success .
The "A**zonBasics USB 3.0 Extension Cable - A-Male to A-Female", together with my original charging cable, is recognized by my 5T as a Dash charger even though the (combined extension and original) cable length is now 4 metres.
Now... It doesn't seem QUITE as fast as the Dash cable alone. Given the cable length and extra connection, that's not surprising. But it's still fast. And neither phone, cables nor charger are at all warm. while charging
Note: The extension cable is 22AWG and is marked on the connector ends as "SS" USB. It's thicker than the red OEM cable but that (I hope) assures that it can carry the extra amperage of the Dash charge.
Cost: $7
Comments are welcome. When able I will try to measure the comparative charging time with and without the extension.

Thanks for this, the link is still active. I bought a few and both seem to work, usually at around 3000mah instead of 3300mah from the shorter original cable. Nothing has caught on fire yet
I'm using this at work, to extend the stock charging cable by another 3 feet. I get full dash charging with this and it's only 6 bucks. Def worth it.
