Help LTE Problem - Xiaomi Mi 5 Questions & Answers

I want to ask about LTE in MI 5.
i have installed MIUI 8 (Global Stable, Global Dev, Chinnese Dev) and CM 14.1, and from all of them, i cant use my LTE. everytime i use *#*#4636#*#* and force to LTE only, i lost my signal and got no service. and im very sure that the problem isn't coming from my sim card which is LTE ready. anyone can help me?

If it's happening with every ROM, then it is either:
• The SIM card,
• The phone hardware, or
• A frequency mismatch.
You don't think it's the SIM card, but have you tried it in a different device to eliminate that possibility?
Also, does the MI5 support the frequencies in your area?
Lastly, I'm not familiar with the phone code you are entering. Does that give you the results you want when used on another device in the same area?

Samsung Note 5 N9208 Dual sim issue, not swopping correctly

So I got this phone and am now a resident in South africa and obviously there is no official support for this phone other than in taiwan and phillipians. They dont sell the dual sim anywhere else. So irritating..... why not make an awesome product like this available everywhere. The dual sim really helps with the terrible providers in South Africa and allows me to get the best Data signal as well as only have to have one phone and not two. I also love the Note 5.
So my problem when I switch between sim cards for data I only get Edge, if I restart the phone it works fine and get H+ or 4G. This is irritating because the purpose is not having to restart the phone each time one switches. Is there a firmware someone can recommend that would work best or another fix?
Helpful suggestions would be appreciated.
i have a dual sim, but i never got this problem. i think you try roms like tekhd, stocky mod, ioio or arya.
To make them work for dual sim you will have to flash ioio conversion tool.
i am sure your problem will solve by trying one of these

I think i have a similar problem. I posted this in Q&A: http://forum.xda-developers.com/note5/help/apparent-data-interference-using-2-lte-t3315139
I presume that in your phone, if you use only 1 sim, the LTE data works ok, but with two sims inserted, it does not connect properly, and you only get EDGE.
Please let me know when you find an answer to you problem.
I too have 9208, with 2 sims inserted I get 4g/3g on my first sim without any problem, how ever the 2nd sim does not support 4g yet, but it only connects to 2g, where as in sim manager there is option to connect to 4g/3g/2g.
The problem reported by OP can also depend on the network conditions, check your network strength i.e 2g/3g/4g which one has good strength in your locality using Open Signal ap fro play store. if 3g/4g are not that great it will connect to 2g network (in case of automatic network selection)

I actually thought of what you said. I installed open signal and tried the test, comparing the results with just one LTE sim, and two (2) LTE sims (sim2 set to GSM of course). The results are miles apart.
1st Test with one sim (sim1) = D/L is 6.5, U/L is 4.7 (sim1 results, no sim2 inserted)
2nd Test with one sim (sim1) = D/L is 3.9, U/L is 2.7 (sim1 results, no sim2 inserted)
1st Test with two sims (sim1 LTE, sim2 GSM) = D/L is -, U/L is 1.2 (sim1 results, sim2 GSM inserted)
2nd Test with two sims (sim1 LTE, sim2 GSM) = D/L is .25, U/L is 1.1 (sim1 results, sim2 GSM inserted)
3rd Test with two sims (sim1 LTE, sim2 GSM) = D/L is -, U/L is 1.4 (sim1 results, sim2 GSM inserted)
After the third test (2 sims), i removed the sim2, and this is what i got:
Test with one sim (sim1) = D/L is 6.6, U/L is 267 (sim1 results, no sim2)
Anyway, these are my stats. Hope you have an idea.
I'm about to buy this phone, but this thread is a bit scary. I intend to use sim 1 with data, I don't have data plan on sim 2. Can i ensure uninterrupted LTE to sim1 using this setup?
Just spoke with a Samsung care tech. He said this was the second time he encountered my issue (yes I am not alone) and blamed it to corrupted software. He suggested a hard reset (yikes), and if it didn't work, reflash/reprogram. I mentioned Odin and he said that flashing the original rom through Odin should solve it, which is what he would do if hard reset didn't work.
He also mentioned some new way of flashing which samsung introduced recently, called Fenrar (unsure if I heard it correctly) which he claims will replace Odin, and which they are using now.

How to force 4g LTE on sim 1 or sim 2 as needed?

I am using the dual sim Exynos version of Note 9 and want to be able to force 4g LTE on either of the two sims as needed.
Can someone please advise how to do this on an unrooted phone? Thanks
Anyone?
I also found no solution. I think it's possible without root but no one is updating the Phone Information Apps. We need to get access at phone information 2 and not only on 1
Mine are both 4G / LTE. Inever need to switch the Sims around. Whichever I choose for days gets LTE. this is different from what I had in the Note 8. I was pleasantly surprised. Therefore it may be a settings issue for you. I have the Note 960F/D
you may try quickshortcutmaker app on exynis version and follow instructions in video
https://youtu.be/AdGAB4qRvYA
I feel like the Tasker App could handle this easily.
I dont understand the actual need.
Simply changing preferred network mode from LTE to 3G shall do to stop LTE on any sim.
I use LTE on both sims for calls
I use LTE for data on specific sim by making it as preferred sim for data.
Settings -- Networks -- Sim card manager shall help in these settings.
I am on exynos N960F Indian firmware.

You don't understand the actual need ??
So i will tell you
On my work i am located in a big Hall underground. The Provider i need down there is only coming in with -110 dB and less which is one LTE Bar. If i leave Automatic Mode it switches always in 2g Mode because of much higher Signal. So to get a nice experience and have LTE always available there is no other solution. The same kind of problem is on my other LTE Sim when on different Locations during the Day ! So i have no time to always switch sim cards so that sim2 is forcing lte !
And off course no one else knows this and so i benefit of this extremely fast connection where all others are crying because of no 4g connection

OK understood.
Did not you get one UI already which has option of LTE only selection too for network mode.
Negative. Here the German Rom (dbt csc unbranded)
Has never got LTE Only mode in the menu. This is also for all European Roms. I have had this only when using Root and Custom Roms.
Because i use many banking and streaming apps it's not possible to root this time. Even with Magisk Hide they will not work.
If i could i would have rooted long time ago. This is getting me Crazy really

Sorry but are you reading my Post?
I am talking LTE Only on Sim Slot 2 of any Samsung Phone out today. All the LTE Only Apps or the Phone Info Menu where they lead you is only working on Sim Slot 1.
I am sure there is a dial code like the one it gets you to the Phone1 Information Screen where you can change the bands. But only for Sim 2 (Phone info 2) on Samsung.
So again LTE Only on sim Slot 2 on Samsung Duos Versions is not Possible @ the moment without Root!
If there is any Dev out there you would be the first One to create an app where Phone INFO 2 is possible to change! Or just find the right hidden code for that i know it's there like the Phone Information 1
Hi,
There's an option to force the selected APN to LTE only but I don't know if it will behave like you want to.
What's great is that it's per SIM so you can try any combinaisons.
Deselect "undefined" and select only the "LTE" one (screenshots).
I expect that if it find any other bands getting a better signal than LTE, it will just let the phone loss the signal and not trying to catch the LTE one, but you can try.

Hey thanks for that. I really was in hope this could work but that would have bean to easy. Unfortunately it's not changing bands after deselecting undefined and than choose some network mode it remains to the same band but it looses the mobile data symbol (but still remains in same band).

This code and all Codes are not working on European Samsung Devices with Android 9 .
I Even Rooted my Galaxy Note 9 and all the hidden codes are Not working ! Even Samsung Phone Info App or other Apps are not working with Latest Android 9.
Only way is Root and Custom Rom like Alex Dev Rom where the CSC is Modified. There it was possible to change both Sim to LTE Only ! But as told before with Root
i loose to many services which are detected even with Magisk . So my next Phone will not be Samsung anymore because of that.

Xiaomi mi 9T Pro - Problems receiving calls while on 4G

Hello!
I hope someone can help me with this "little" problem that I'm experimenting with my Xiaomi mi 9T Pro running MIUI Global 10.3.3.0 (Stock) I checked everything before buying and the phone is fully compatible with my carrier (I'm from Venezuela), however, I noticed that when the phone is on 4G it switches to 3G/H/H+ in order to make/receive calls (which is pretty normal since my carrier does not support VoLTE). The problem comes when there is an incoming call, it should switch automatically to 3G/H/H+ BUT it does not happen all the time, in fact, I can say that it only happens 25% of the time when I was testing, of course, when it does not happen there is no way to receive the incoming call.
So far I tried:
- Forcing the phone to stay on 3G (everything works great)
- Testing the different network options (it switches from 4G to 3G but not always as it should)
- Switching from SIM slot 1 to slot 2
- At the moment the preferred network type is LTE/TD-SCDMA/UMTS (default)
Could it be a software issue? or could it be related to my carrier? I haven't tried using a SIM card from another carrier.
After all, I bought a PHONE that does not behave like an actual phone all the time, so, I hope someone can help me with this.
Thanks in advance.
Thank you, I almost thought I was the only one.
I bought my Xiaomi mi 9T Pro running MIUI Global 10.3.3.0 (Stock) a week ago and I have the same symptoms like you.
Im on A1 Network in Austria running default network settings and I realized after hours I couldn't make calls (and obviously did't receive any).
This is the first phone I had this network problems, and I am on A1 network for 20 years with different phones....
I hope someone can share some light why this happens and what are the best settings for European (Austrian) A1 network.
Trying to switch to LTE/UMTS, but that setting is always reset to the default above after reboot.
As its also my work phone it would be very bad not recognizing for hours that I'm not reachable...
Thank you !
A1 supports VoLTE, try to enable it on your phone, I have no issues running a dual SIM config with A1 and 3 .....

Hi! It feels better knowing that I'm not alone.
The fact is that I can actually make calls (it take from 3 to 5 seconds switching from 4G to 3G/H), the problem comes when there is an incoming call, sometimes it works (it switches to 3G/H and when the call is ended, it switches back to 4G) but most it does not. I just tried LTE/UMTS and it does work but not for long, I can see that it happens and sometimes it does not. I found a "solution" which involves forcing to 3G/H but it's not the point, there should be a real solution. At this moment, I haven't found a correct network configuration, all the ones that I've tried just have worked for me for some time, and then the problem is back without even rebooting the phone. Could it be caused by a faulty SIM or it's just a network/carrier issue? I don't want to think that it's a hardware issue.

Whats your ROM Version ?
I alreaddy tried to enable VoLTE, I can switch it on and the VoLTE Symbol appears.
The problem is - I have no caller ID. I don't even see the phone number when someone calls me ("unbekannter Anrufer" - "unknown caller")
That's not conveniant, so as soon as I switched OFF VoLTE caller recognition was enabled again.
Is VoWIFI working at you with A1 ? I can enable it but I don't get the symbot at home in my WIFI network.
So for now I see two options:
- the correct (stable) network configuration for Austria that persist in the phone configuration
- enabling VoLTE but with a solution for a working caller ID
I finally got found the solution
Problem is the notification settings.
This was somehow reset after the update to mui 11.
To fix the issue:
1. Go to settings
2. Click notification
3. Click the notification badges (3rd icon)
4. Find the "phone" icon
5. Enable the show notification
6. Exit to settings and test
Having same problem
Can someone help me I am from Malta and have Xiaomi mi9t pro and from last night stopped receiving calls and incoming . Tried with sim 1 and it worked but it happened again . I tried the notification settings but still the same problem .
I had trouble not receiving calls also...
After looking here, and also on YouTube, I started going through my phone again. I too was not getting my calls a lot, but I have only had my phone maybe 2 weeks, so there's not much on it yet. One thing I am always adding is themes. The theme feature is it's own pre installed app as I'm sure we've all seen. Different one's have been doing/blocking certain features at times on my phone. My husband's calls were being sent to voicemail, and some other important calls. I noticed the other day when I tried a new theme it locked me out of my phone with no preface to get back to the lock screen. I had to take a picture and select send to get back to the lock screen. Remembering this, I decided to go back to the original developer theme for the phone. My phone now rings. Original developer mode also controls the call feature, not just the theme, which I did not know or read until now. Going back to it I believe kind of reset my configuration. I would say give this a try for sure. Hope it helps someone else I love my phone and didn't want to lose it. FYI, I am on TMobile network in the USA.
Hi!
I have a very similar problem on a xiaomi redmi note 8t. I tried various settings, but failed. This is annoying because the phone is relatively new. I think it is a hardware problem.

I have the same issue here in same phone but on EU MIUI 12.0.3.0 .. with the same symptoms u described .. i suspected in sim card and i replaced it with a new one and the issue still there .. did u find a solution for this issue?
I'm not sure if this is the same issue as what's described by OP, but it's somewhat similar (not receiving calls). Sometimes my colleagues will call me on Whatsapp and state that they're unable to reach me via the cellular network. This is what fixed it for me:
Settings - SIM cards & mobile networks - Select your sim card - turn off 'use volte (use volte to improve the quality of voice calls)'

MI 9/ network problems

Hello everyone,
I have Mi 9 M1902F1G 128gb with MIUI global 11.0.4. I am living in France and using Bouyuges telecom, recently when I come to work my phone loses network connection related to simcard. No calls, no 4G, no 3G nothing absolutely. There is a cross sign sometimes on network bar, then sim card activation process starts but no connection. Even I cannot send an sms. This is a new problem. I have been using this phone with same sim card for approximately for a year.
Thanks in advance

Change job
Since you don't tell us what actions you already have taken the most obvious is to pull out the sim card and clean it. If this doesn't help, contact your operator to get a new sim card. Everything you say indicates that your problem is one with the sim card or the operator and has nothing to do with the phone.

Have you tried with VoLTE disabled?
Also, by preferring network type 3G or even 2G, instead of 4G.
Maybe you recently got some some 4G/3G micro-station at work with the band not supported by phone
Edit: You could also try to inspect by Network Cell Info Lite, Net Monster, Net Monitor or similar apps available from Playstore

Question Network Issue - unable to register to 2g/3g

Hi. I don't know how to fix this. I have mi 11 cn version flashed with eu rom.i have 5g and lte signal for both sim cards but they can't make or get in coming calls( my network tries to go back to 2g/3g signal to make a call). I tried both my sim cards to another phone and they are working just fine. I was able to manually switch them to both 2g and 3g with the other phone. I did the *#3646 thing to manually choose a network but it still doesn't work. Tried to reset this a couple of time and even reverted back to cn rom still no luck.
Haven't studied this in detail so not even sure if it is even an issue. But I heard china 5G or 4G etc networks and phones use certain radio bands that are different than in US or Europe or other continents. Perhaps this is why your phone has no 5G reception...?
i have 5g reception.the one that is not working are 2g and 3g.this was working before.im not sure if it it due to eu rom.i know the signal are good because i tried my sim card on a different phone and all receptions are working.
