Hi there,
I'm having problems with the GPS since the update to OS4... Before that I could record my runs with apps (runkeeper, polar) and never had a problem.
After the update I had 2 runs where my GPS signal was lost (or the apps stopped without notification)....
Is there a way to go back to an older version of OS, or would a factory reset help?

Factory reset is the first one you should try.But before that try to download kinda test apps for testing the gps .

But how test gps? It works for the first 6km....and than something stopped, maybe the app.. But Wednesday I used another app and that stopped recording also... Don't know if app stops after losing gps signal.. So maybe the apps are the problem... Not stable for use with Nougat maybe, because on MM everything was working fine

GPS on OP3T is useless for tracking.

yes there is always a way to revert back to older build.Just download stock version which ever you want and flash it using recovery and voila you have your stable version back where gps worked for sure.

Yes but it is ok One plus even gives you warranty on Unlocked bootloader.
This phone generally has very poor gps. I'm talking about from oos 3..5.4 it was really bad so idk if it got any better because I'm oos 4.0.1 and it's just as bad.

Yeah I know... But I'm losing everything so first I've to find a good backup program for a non rooted phone.
At the moment I've reinstalled the running apps that were giving me problems so look what happens now
Is the toolkit here on XDA working ok with OS4?
I guess it might me antenna hidden somewhere in bad place or something and it is not software dependant? Otherwise they would fix it

Gps worked better in 3.5.4 than on 4.01 signal is good but it calculates 22m accuracy an this wig good with lock on 17 satellites and strong signal .. and losses connection way to often.. (its something system/cpu/powering related..) needs to be fixed !!!
Maybe you have "active doze mode enabled" in battery settings... this renders GPS almost unusable as it kill /gps resets and locks again( and it way to often in background...

I got my 3T today tested the gps on 3.5.3 works perfectly acuracy is with in 10 meters.gonna test is later on using OS 4
on my old HTC one m7, I have accuracy min 6m when I am outside and next to OP3 where 10m accuracy is a max what I can get with fluctuations to 15-50m all the time. I have no idea what is going on. Also compass is behaving weirdly and not always showing correct North.
Same here, OxygenOS 4.0.2 broke the GPS
I use navigation a lot with my phone (Google Maps). I had no issues with the GPS quality and speed on Marshmellow (OxygenOS 3.2.8). Got the update to Nougat (OxygenOS 4.0.2) a week ago.
Since the upgrade, GPS often does not get a fix for several minutes, often puts me several 100 meters away from where I am, and keeps loosing the GPS fix every few minutes while I am driving. It is basically unusable for navigation.
I am now taking along my good old LG G4 every day just to use it as a navigation device. Have been running both phones in parallel in the car; the G4 gets me to my destination while I would not be able to find anything with the OnePlus 3....
I am already considering downgrading back to 3.2.8. But I'd have to factory reset and reinstall everything, that sucks
I recently had GPS issues on OOS 4.0.2 until I turned off Wi-Fi Scanning. After turning it off, GPS works normal.
Settings > Location > 3 Dot Menu > Scanning > Turn Off Wi-Fi Scanning

Hello everyone,
So i upgraded my O2X like a month ago... and since then i have had issues with it...
I've upgraded to 2.3.4 from LG official updates... and since my upgrade i've got some serious issue's with my phone..
1. Alot of times i can't send any messages, and i have to retry like 2-4 times before it's working...
2. people can't call me from time to time.... it just hang's up from the person trying to call me...
3. sometimes when talking to somebody, the sound get's all wierd like a scrathing sound with other mixed wierd other sounds... it goes like that for about 5-15 seconds.. Then it stops and and often then i can't her the other person anymore... but sometimes it also goes back to normal..
4. Signal is lost sometimes... the signal bar indicates that their's no phone service.... and then comes back after like 5-15 seconds...
5. wifi aint working anymore... can't use the internet..
6. today i needed to use the gps... but when it finally has found the route i need.. it aint "updating" where im driving..... so i have to close the gps, and then start it again so i can get a update of where the car is located.. its like a "still picture" if you get me...
Please note that i have NOT done any factory reset of the phone after 2.3.4 upgrade... as it cant be true that i need to do such thing everytime an update is launched from LG just to get the phone working....
i dont have anything else installed, like CM or even rooted or anything.. its all stock rom from LG...
Anyone has some ideas or clues of how i can fix these issues?
i have met all of these issues as well. i have to add another issue,"wifi turn off automatically".

Maybe a stupid comment of me , but have you already looked at the wifi-advanced settings? because there you can switch off the "wifi power saving or sleepmode".
You should also check all settings because everything is put back to factory settings..

What a fail from LG. I bought this phone recently for my wife and I was accusing her being crazy!
I changed all the settigns in wifi for battery effeciency to keept it always on no matter what! wifi keeps disconnecting at times. Even during skype calls and needs to restart wifi(deactivate->activate).
Anyone having a solution for that issues? Otherwise a custom ROM is going to solve this? And if so please propose one for simple use.
It is so FAIL from LG releasing a ROM hat does not work as it should with default values. Android is for users also, not just geeks.

Have you done a 'factory reset' since you updated the device?
You shouldn't lose any stuff on the card, only the applications that were on the phone as such. (But better than sorry to make a backup just in case). Oh of course you will lose contacts unless they are synced with another source as well).
GPS> Make sure you leave the GPS turned on ALL the time. It won't use it unless it has too, and if you start the phone with gps turned off, it won't connect to gps properly. Wifi ? er.. perhaps you need to go into the wifi settings and have a fiddle around with the sleep mode? Or perhaps increase the screen timeout so it doesn't keep disconnecting the wifi so often?
Get a Samsung for sure!!

Did anyone notice constant "Searching using GPS" notification after Lollipop update
Hi guys,
I have Note 4 Exynos version N910C and I have just received OTA Lollipop update for my region. After update everything was ok until the day before yesterday when I needed to change the sim, so it was the first restart after the update. After restart I noticed that there is constant "searching using GPS" notification when I am in the building and seems to went out when I am outside, which means there is some app is constantly searching for GPS and it also seem to drain my battery. So I was inspecting in the settings under Location saw that Yahoo weather which I use as lock screen has reported high battery usage. So tried to clear the app data and voila....the notification went of and everything seem to be at normal. Then I tried to restart the phone and the notification displays again and remain again constant. So now after each restart I have to clear data from Yahoo weather to turn off the "searching using GPS" notification and for my phone not drain the battery. I think it might be some flaw in Yahoo weather after Lollipop update. I did not do factory reset after OTA update so the problem might be because of that.
Just wanted to share for someone who might face the same issue.
I had it on the 910F. Turned off that option for that app. User daemon? I think it was called. Check GPS log. They say by clearing it's cache it'll fix it. But I disabled it as I don't use the widget.
I think that's the Unified daemon which provides data to samsung apps like location for weather.
Yes. That's the one. I have it disabled and it worked wonders. GPS works perfectly, except for that widget.

No need to be rooted. Find it in options. Location. And there it will be with high under its usage. Everything else should be low....
Well that sucks for us that use the widget...
just remember that when you disabled it, you wont get the latest or regular weather update in your note 4.
I've noticed that since the lollipop update I lose the last known position on the GPS. This is used to get a fast fix. So after a reboot I need to go outside to get a GPS fix. Over I've got the first fix the subsequent fixes are sick, even indoors. It's like the GPS is not using a-GPS or Wi-Fi location based services to get an approximate fix to speed up the first fix.

Seem to be having an issue that I can't take care of that I've tried everything that I know that I believed could be causing the drops. The issue I'm having is any time I turn the screen off while driving my GPS will lose its connection after about 5 minutes. I was also losing data so I figured it was an application causing that issue with that problem I got resolved by removing the battery saving application called battery guru. That was actually shutting my data connection off with my screen off so I got rid of that completely but I still seem to have the problem with my GPS drops. My data stays up just fine but it seems like clockwork every 5 minutes the screens off I'm driving and I get that voice GPS connection lost. All I have to do is click the back button in Google Maps and reload my route and BAM its right back up and going. Now I can leave the screen on and I will not lose the GPS signal whatsoever until I turn the screen off. Have went through all the settings that I know of and of course the only battery saving application that I had installed and I can't seem to find the issue. I also use the search tool and couldn't find anyone else with a problem like mine. Does anyone have any suggestions or have seen this on their device? I'm beginning to think this may be a hardware issue I'm not sure. But if it was a hardware issue you would think I would be losing the connection all the time not with just the screen off which leads me back to a software issue. I'm going to keep freezing apps with titanium to see if I can find another culprit. I just don't have anything else installed that should have anything to do with that. Thanks in advance for any help for insight you may have.

My GPS on my Nexus 6 is and always has been amazing. (Thanks for reminding me to compare that when I get the 6P). I use my GPS daily to keep Waze up when I drive to watch for cops, traffic, etc. Even when I know where I'm going I use it and Google play streaming over Bluetooth and my GPS keeps connection even in Manhattan.
I would recommending getting an app called GPS status, it has a few settings to keep GPS active etc, which should solve your problem. However I have no clue what could cause something like that...

I went to the gallery, did my settings and even replaced my sim! All of them are saying there's a problem in the handset. This started a day after installing the latest update. I can't even uninstall this latest update.
PLEASE HELP!
um... in order for us to help we need waaaaay more information from your side
which rom and which version did you have installed before?
which rom and version did you update to? how did you do the update? (OTA, manual, recovery, fastboot, etc.)
have u tried a factory reset?
when u say this started "a day after the update", does that mean that it worked for a day and then only AFTER a full day it stopped working?

Thanks for your reply.
1: It's erratic. It works for 4 hours perfectly, then doesn't work for a couple of hours at all. I've tried it on another phone and it works perfectly all day long.
2: I did the update from the settings itself on wifi. The phone restarted post-update and it was done.
3: Here's a screenshot of my "about phone":

4: Yes, I've tried a factory reset and it still gives me the same problem.
once it stops working, does it switch to 3G? or does it just stop using mobile data completely? also, when it changes, are you on the move? or are we talking about the same exact location concerning erratic behaviour?

No, the 4g symbol is still on, but nothing loads. The speed is less than 15kb/sec. It's not just when I'm moving around, but also when I'm at home. Sometimes in the same area, I'll get regular 4g speed and after a few hours in the very same area, I'll get nothing for a long, long period of time, while at the same time a friend of mine with the exact same phone (MiMax2) and same network gets full speed.

When I start any navigation app, it gets my position but then it just doesn't work. Also, when I fired up the GPS Status app, I didn't get any GPS fix even after 5 minutes in my car.
Does anyone have the same problem or knows how to fix it? I am afraid that a factory reset won't help.. Should I try to wipe the cache partition?
