Capacitive button lights on Marshmallow - Verizon Motorola Droid Turbo Q&A, Help & Troublesh

On Lollipop, I was able to use an app called Darker to dim (turn off) the capacitive button lights while watching media. Apps like Netflix would even turn them off automatically. But since Marshmallow, I'm completely unable to do it. The white buttons stay on all the time. I'm stock, unrooted. Anyone else experiencing this?

You could use xposed module like Gravity Box and there's other modules which can regulate that. But you are on stock Marshmallow, with locked bootloader -- so that boat has passed for you. Unless you did unlock your bootloader already on Lollipop and for some reason just like being stock unrooted (not having any control over your phone)?
There's an app for the Galaxy phones called Galaxy Button Lights 2, for capacitive button behavior. No guarantees it will work on our Quarks. If you had TWRP custom recovery installed, I would tell you to make a backup first. But you can't.

Do you have Expanded desktop ON? If yes, it is the reason: Expanded Desktop feature hides the softbuttons
Is your phone really rooted? App doesn't work on non-rooted phones.

For me, if there are no capacitive buttons, i would prefer onscreen ones.
Hardware ones are going on my nerves. That's my optinion of those 3
Anyone tested on the app on Lollipop?

Which ROM has this (picture) and what is it called?

This is an extremely useful feature, especially for phones with fewer soft buttons. It's this little navigation bar pointed out in the picture below.
You can customize each of the buttons on it and can change the total number of buttons.
The best thing about it is it is ALWAYS visible, and only switches to a less intrusive form for fullscreen videos.
It is IMHO the single best reason to unlock a phone and put on a custom ROM. For increasing productivity/efficiency, no other feature compares.

Does this feature have an official name? (I've seen it called several things but nothing consistent.)
Was it a feature of one particular ROM?
Do any current ROMs for HTC One have it?
Thanks!
It's probably a Nexus-based ROM as they don't have hardware keys. As we do we don't on-screen buttons
You can get this feature if I'm not wrong also with aicp rom for htc one and Kang roms, search on the original android development, and try them

You can get AOKP here:

Can you get the nav bar without installing aokp?

If you're rooted, I think you might be able to get it via GravityBox. Haven't really tried that yet.

Capacitive Buttons Backlight

Hi
I own a 920c and I tried 2 methods for turning off the Capacitive Buttons Backlight. 1. the app Galaxy Button light and 2. the adb method where u put a command in I'm sure u know what I'm talking about. Both work but every time I wake up my device the Capacitive Buttons still light up for a few milliseconds! this wasn't happening to me an my S6 edge. Does this happen to u aswell? It can't be light bleeding in from the screen since it's sAmoled and it doesn't even look like that it's for sure the Buttons them self's. Can someone else confirm this happening to them aswell? the only method I haven't tried is where u edit some seetings.db with sql editor for which I coulden't find the thread where it was described which file to edit....
-Push-
can anyone help?
Here's what i do when the rom doesn't have the setting available

No need to hash out all files, just hashout the buttons in the following file:
/system/usr/keylayout/synaptics_dsx_s2.kl
PS: the on-screen buttons doesn't go good with eUI notification.

Redmi 8 can't start

Hello all
I have a problem with my phone. After starting the day all normal, tried to install an app for my job (KeyAccess Pass) to enter the building and etc, left my phone by side and continue to work. After some time, I've realised the my phone was off, tried to power on and since then stuck in the screen bellow.
More info: probably bootloader locked, no root, stock rom MIUI 12.5.something updated with OTA almost 2 months before. Tried power + volume+ and power + volume-, nothing different.

if you still have an active warranty, id suggest to check in at a service center.
try accessing safe mode (power on then voldown). most of the different boot modes require a 2nd vibe tick, is it still locked out? if you do get in, try formatting data via recovery. if not, yeah the service center is literally the only way with a locked bootloader.
Thanks for the reply. No warranty for me, and I'm locked out yet, so I will think a bit if I will go to the service center or buy another phone...
