Tasks don't execute in one specific (root) app - Tasker Tips & Tricks

Hi team,
I use one app (True Mouse/KB) which turn an Android device into a generic Blutooth mouse/kb combo, and I'd like to add some features on top of it with tasker (nothing really complicated, have some "tap" inputs sent based on long press on volume or headset buttons).
My problem is that any task I create execute fine everywhere except in that app. Is there anything I can do, or it's just that this particular app has something blocking tasker ?
Thanks in advance,
Rgds

[Q] Screen Power

Aloha,
Is there a command that disables power (and re-enables) to screen such as the proximity sensor while on call?
I am looking for the command to run from terminal as I want to make a script that works with Tasker. As such, I'm not looking for an app that does this for me so please don't link me to an app. In case you ask why it's because the apps I have found are yet another background service that I don't need/want when I know it's highly probable to accomplish the same Tasker and a simple script. And if they aren't a service, it locks the screen instead of just disabling power.
Anywho. anybody? ideas?
Thanks!

Open issues to be solved

Just thought it was a good idea to open a thread with "issues" to be solved or things we want to get working on the Gear. I myself have a thing of two that I want to solve. For this I searched through some threads, saw some people mention the problems but never found a solution (although apparently other people were working on it to).
Because I like to be part of the solution but don't want to reinvent the wheel I thought it is maybe a good idea to sum some things up that need a solution in one thread.
Basic thing that I'm looking for and not sure if it is solved is
enable/disable BT tethering with just one tap (so to speak). Ideally automagically when opening an app that needs an internet connection
(If the problem isn't solved I was thinking to write an app for this)
(Reserved : list with open issues )
Id love someone to be able to rewrite the newest gear manager to work with people not on 4.3.
Or someone to get the things not working on 4.2 like weAther etc.
A native sms app that syncs with the phone properly. or get tablet talk to display names.

Very easy with Tasker & Bluetooth Auto Connect.
Iv set up so if my device is locked & the screen is off for 30 seconds, it will disable bluetooth tethering for battery reasons. Iv also setup so if I slide two fingers up on my Novalauncher homescreen it will enable bluetooth tethering. Alternatively you can also enable a launcher shortcut which will execute the task.
You can also setup so bluetooth tethering will automatically be activated when launching certain applications.
If you need further instructions, dont hesitate. Tasker can be a little intimidating at first if this is your first time using it.
I'd quite like to be able to swipe away notifications, both individually and per app. Currently it's a bit of a hassle..!

I've never used tasker before. Maybe worthwhile to dive into it.
Also played with Bluetooth Auto Connect. I used it to maintain a connection. (But concluded very quickly that that will drain the battery of the Gear like hell LoL). Where do you use Bluetooth Auto Connect for in this scenario? I mean,if I understand you correctly everything can be done with Tasker.

Bluetooth auto connect works as a plugin for tasker also, so you can incorporate bluetooth auto connect functions in your tasks.
You must get tasker, its a device changer.. both phone & gear.

Its great isn't it.. opens up so many possibility's.
I'd also quite like to have 2 finger double tap to show recent apps and 2 finger long press to show battery info.
i would love to have double tap on the watch to wake.

fOmey do i only need tasker on the phone in order to do that? The way i am manually doing it is i first enable tether on the phone ands then dive into the full settings on the Gear.
If the phone stops tethering then the Gear option automatically gets unticked, but it does not work the other way around.
I have tasked installed on both phone and gear. Could you please provide some instructions?
Also, have you checked Atooma? I have it both on the S4 and the Gear and i can do stuff on the phone with three triggers from the watch:
1) Horizontal movement
2) Vertical movement
3) Photo taken
Does tasker integrate with the watch the way Atooma does?
Thanx again for everything you have done.
YOU ARE THE MAN!
I'd like to be able to scroll down and see a playlist and pick a song

Functionality improvement - (we just need a piece of software for that) - to display on the GEAR atmospheric pressure, humidity, temperature - all of those sensors are in NOTE3

Event profile stops working after restart/timeperiod

Been trying to Google a solution but in vein.
I want my Flic button to trigger a task.
I make a Profile in Tasker, choose event -> Plugin -> Flic and select my button and behaviour.
To this event I choose one of my tasks.
So far so good. The task executes when I click my Flic button. Great!
After a while, leaving the room with my phone or rebooting the phone, nothing happens when I'm back and click my Flic! I'll then have to open Tasker, edit my Flic-event under profiles and save the Flic behavior again for it to execute when I click my Flic.
Why does it disconnect like this? It only works just after creating the event.
Please help. Desperate!
Have you asked the plug-in developer for help? This sounds like it's in their court. Looking at the Tasker run log might give some insight, but my guess is it's at a lower level than that.
Reading through the FLIC community support it looks like there are reports of hit or miss and maybe only a double click action will work with Tasker.

Thanks for your reply ktmom!
I found a workaround for my problem.
I simply put my task as a shortcut (instead of a widget/task) on my homescreen. I can then assign my task within Flic app by choosing "Launch shortcut" under "Phone control" in Flic app...
However I'm still bothered by that previous mentioned problem.
Things are sort of working now !
Good workaround idea!
Maybe one day they'll fix the issue so we don't have to keep an extra shortcut to make it work!

Tasker to "Type to Bixby"

Does anyone know if there is an intent or plugin. That would let me send text to Bixby.
I don't want to root and it would be good to turn on vpns, toggle mono audio and many others. That can be done via bixby and no other way without root.
Been hunting, but all my searches end up being about changing the action of the button.
Thanks

I don't know about Crappy Bixby, but I use Tasker without root with Google voice commands mapped to the Bixby button using THIS APP (well worth the purchase) for various stuff like toggle WiFi, Bluetooth, Torch, launch apps etc. Also use Tasker for automation like, turning GPS on when maps is launched and then off again when exited, stereo notification sounds, vibration pattens, loudspeaker auto on/off via proximity sensor when on a call, etc etc.... I was a bit concerned when I got the Note 9 as I really relied on Tasker on my Oneplus 3T (which was rooted) as I don't want to root, just yet Just go to THIS PAGE and install the command as shown and you are good to go

I will have a play and see if I can get it working for VPN and Mono Audio. Trust me Bixby will only ever be a means to an end.
Thanks

Using a 2-button BT camera remote control clicker as the input for tasker.

I want to use a 2-button BT camera remote control clicker as the input for tasker.
If one of the buttons of the remote is pushed, then tasker should initiate a call to a phone number-1 (that is dial the number-1). If the other button of the remote is pushed, then tasker should initiate a call to a phone number-2.
The goal is to fully automate the process, so only a single push of a button will initiate a call.
I want to do it for my elderly mother for (non-medical) emergencies.
Will I be able to achieve what I want with Tasker?
Will it be say, 90% reliable solution?

Even before I got to the end of your post, I said to myself this sounds like they are trying to build a sort of life alert system. Brilliant!
I just wanted to say how great an idea that is, but not sure how to Intercept/interact with a BT device. Yet, seems possible. Maybe the AutoNotification plugin?
