My first o2x had random reboots and bsod.
When i received my second handset, I didn't trusted the charger so I bought one on ebay (5v, 1.0a) and used it for 1,5 month now without any reboot or bsod.
Yesterday I went to my girlfriend and took an other charger with me, i plugged my o2x in and bam, it totally frozen inmediatly! After rebooting the device by taking out the battery i tried it again and had the same issue. I also tried ANOTHER charger, with another ampere output. When i connected that charger to the phone, my phone went crazy (opening programs without touching the screen. Also my touches weren't recognized untill I disconnected the device.
Now i've connected my ebay charger again to my device and have no problems at all!
For those who want to try to get rid of the bsod and reboots, try this charger:
http://cgi.ebay.nl/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=320574017791&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT
This is not my shop or a promotion to the seller or whatever...
It's no guarantee, but for the few euros I would try it!
Let me know if it works for you, it does for me
Well, my girlfriend have a SE Xperia Pro Mini and used my old Desire charger. The screen was useless with the charger. Menu opened up and closed automaticly and the touch was useless.
Result: Broken battery, when the phone shut off and she put her own charger (original) the battery is 100% after 15 mins and back to 0% after a few hours without use.... Be careful with different chargers with different volt and amp. Just saying
Edit: By the way, my phone had many reboots in the beginning and none when I charged it. I had the reboots problem when I plugged in SD-card. After I removed it, I don't have had any reboots for 2-3 weeks.
i can't agree that the bsod and freezes are caused by the charger
i had the same like axepted, no reboot or freeze while charging, only at night when phone was idle
after testing cm nighly i flashed back to latest stock from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=12890619#post12890619 and since then i had neither a bsod nor a freeze, so imho it has to be a software issue
yesterday i changed to cm7 rc1 and it also works fine

i can't promise that, if necessary, a reflash will be the sollution, but in my case it was.
also LG is actually working on a bugfix, they wanted to release it in june but delayed to july
@sid1712: CM released a RC some days ago too, i flashed it yesterday and it works really fine
So I've had this phone for about a year now, the moment I got it I unlocked the bootloader, rooted it and flashed cyanfox (cm11 fork) onto it.
It's been serving me great ever since, no problems whatsoever with it.
But as of a few days back I found it with a black screen, unresponsive. I connected the charger and it light up the green led solid, tries to boot but can't get past the boot loader message
This continues in an almost endless loop until getting to a 'battery 1%' screen with it showing the battery. After that I'm able to boot it up without problem
I first thought that was the end of it.. I finally got it too boot all seemed fine, battery showed 3% at start up bit voltage was suggesting it was 100%. It flashed to 100% later.
Good, no problem until then. But when leaving it over night to charge and disconnecting it from the charger this morning it turned off again. And now it's back in the bootloop when on charger :crying:
also important to mention is that when it crashes and gets into the bootloop on charger(0% battery and all) it was at 50-100% before the crash.
If anyone has any ideas what might be the cause I'd be very thankful
Main problem(s):
-random crashes instantly rendering battery % as 0 while there is still charge
-getting atrix hd to turn on at <1% battery
Some maybe useful information:
-it does say 'battery OK' in fastboot while connected to the wallcharger
-after I get it to boot it will run just fine on battery and charge as normal, but will crash/brick again after some time
-I can get into boot selection screen and fastboot, but only on wallcharger
-I cannot get to fastboot when connected to use, pc doesn't see the phone
-It won't boot past the bootloader('Motorola logo' for you on not unlocked bootloaders) no matter the boot selection(recovery, bp tools etc)
-This is a second hand model already in use by me (the second owner) for over a year now
-no custom kernel, only rom, cyanfox 4.4.2 (cm11 based)
-the few times it got past the bootloop and I was able to boot was on my aftermarket charger (stock charger will make the green led light up but no proof of being able to get past bootloop over time on it)
I've had dead batteries before.. and since It looked good last time I got it on (it won't go on at all now) I was skeptic about the battery being dead. But a quick test of the multimeter gives me <1v :crying:
I know batteries can be drained pretty bad.. but this just seems a bit extreme.. I'll try to get it to boot for a while.
Thanks in advance for any helpful solutions or ideas on the matter
EDIT: Got it on again last night, turned off this morning when pulling out the charger, was at 100%. Checked battery and again read around 1V.
blaming the battery, ordered a new one just in case, should be here in a month or so. Still open for suggestions on the matter

Did you fix it somehow in the end?
My Atrix HD freezes after several minutes(sometimes even on wall charger). Bought new battery, tried to reset everything: usb storage, cash, system, factory reset. Went back to ROM I was using before(stable) but didn't help.

It ended up being the battery, all problems were gone after I changed the battery.
Which in the end wasn't so bad because I'd been wanting to upgrade my eb20 to an eb40
No Idea to what it could be in your case.
Everything working appart from that? no battery hickups or things not working properly?

"0% battery after crashes" that is what was happening in the begging, so I thought it is the battery. I changed it to UB40
but everything's got worse. With the new battery I have crashes even when the battery is almost full.(but not always, for example I can play movie from youtube normally, but when I try to send sms or something else it crashes ).
Hard to believe that there is something with the new battery(I have it just one week+It took a month to ship from ebay).
I tried to flash another ROM, but still have freezes.
Last thing sometimes battery charges normally but then suddenly jumps to ~100%. Now I try to flash Stock ROM, but eventually soft bricked the phone. (+had "battery low" in fastboot, while charging animation was saying 100%)
Where did you buy EB40?
____________________________________
It turned out that EB40 battery was bad, after replacing it with another one everything work
I got this phone 2 months ago brand new from ebay.
It had mostly working fine until today.
Battery was around 25%, so I plugged it in for charging. The charging connection kept disconnecting and reconnecting every second. I thought it could be a loose cable, but I checked everything. Eventually it connected, but the phone wasn't charging. I opened the settings and checked under battery, it said something like "connected, but not charging". I tried changing the charger, used 2 different charges but same result.
At this point it was clear the phone wasn't charging no matter what. I checked the USB port for dust, etc and also reset the phone. I also noticed the phone become very very laggy, not registering touch etc. Restarting the phone temporarily fixed lag and touch issues, but the problems came back quickly.
I also connected it to PC, but nothing happened.
Finally the battery has drained, and the phone has been plugged in for a few hours now, but still no charge. It's dead.
What could be the issue? Any suggestions? Seems like a hardware failure?
It's a 2 month old phone and I could be out $300+.
First time I bought a Xiaomi phone, this is a very scary and disappointing experience. I didn't drop the phone, no damage. As I said the phone was 100% fine before.
i just experiencing this issue exactly a week ago, at that point my battery were 7% down to 5% while trying "the fail" and when i plug the charge it says "plugged in, can't charge right now" but after 3 hours or so charging in while the phone was on, it bounce back to 7% and still displaying that message.
after trying to charge while the phone was off for more than 12 hours with no results, i gave up and place silica gel around the charging port for approx. 3 hours or so. and then i do this step.
i don't know what the pin point of the causing factor is and i don't know what step is unnecessary but this is what i do. i place silica gel around the port incase the port detecting moisture and preventing charge from happening, after 3 hour i try charging again using 18w quick charge brick while the phone is fastboot and turning it on. just like that the battery was charging.
after my battery were full i update the software to pie incase this is because of the software update (just like pixel 2 did), give this tutorial video a try*https://youtu.be/F9XNIbpC1yA some ppl able to do it in the first try, some 3x, some 6x, me? i finally achieve that on my 11x. just give it a shot and patience, no need root, ubl, etc etc
the fail. i tried using my friend charger (we have same phone) didn't work. tried using computer usb didn't work. tried using that quick charger brick without that silica gel part, didn't work. tried charging when the phone is off (i waited more than 12+hours) still didn't work.
based on that my conclusion were either there is moisture in the port and the sensor detect it and prevent the battery from charging up or the V9.6.17.0.ODIMIFE november update causing this problem.
again, this is what i do
-place/cover the charging port with silica gel
-wait approx. 3hour or more
-put the phone in fastboot mode
-charge the phone with 18w fast charger while in fastboot mode
-try to turn on the phone
the only post about this issue other than this was some guy in moto x4 thread on reddit, i don't know why there is so little info about this issue.

Thanks for the response. I don't have silica gel but I placed the phone in rice for a few hours and then tried charging, it still won't work.
I can't get into fastboot either because the battery has drained completely by now.

spoiler alert, that guy got his replacement phone while we (i assume you too) didn't even have access to official xiaomi service center ?
oh god, i just had it again, second time 10days later after the first one, on the latest pie update.
i'm legit scared ?, pray for my phones ?
but thanks god, the "plug in the charger while the phone on fastboot mode and turning it on"
still works, just like last time. even without the 18w fast charger.
I have the same problem. Battery drain could be the fingerpint sensor issue. The thing is the battery got really depleted and now, it seems the charger program/circuitry is consuming more power than it can charge. I tried several chargers, several usb-c cables, but nothing. Some hours ago the notification light blinked for some seconds and then it appeared as if it was indeed charging, it even showed the charging battery image ( the one without %, the one that appears when you have a really low battery charge ). But it has been hours trying and it doesn't do that anymore and there seems to be no way of making it charge and boot.
This is an appalling situation.
Similar problem, I purchase a Xiaomi Mi A2 by ebay, and passing 30 days (warranty expired) phone dead and never came to turn on, just flashing a white led, but nothing else, somebody has experimenting this problem and steps to revive the phone:crying:
same ****, guys.
I've tried several cables, couple of hard resets and etc. But now I have a pretty brick
I don't know if related but I had similar behavior after I dropped my a2 in the WC, after drying and figuring what prevented it to power on I discovered the USB plug at it's logic board internal connector as the parts preventing it to turn on, some cleaning an drying and my phone comeback.
Then today I observed it didn't charge, and the body warmed, It showed 50% charge, I rebooted and then it didn't turn on again, since I was doing some workout I figured the usb again got wet, I opened cleaned , dried assembly again and then it turned on w/o issue, but then the battery was showing 90% charge not 50% as before rebooting.
Maybe this your situation guys, it you think your phone somehow got wet, and you have no way to claim warranty (or too far from service center) try cleaning and drying the internal USB port connections. (Doit at your own risk).

My beloved Moto Z died in the same manner. I dropped it to the WC and finally died a few hours later. I'm happy now wirh my A2 but i miss the AMOLED screen [emoji24]

I just had the same issue. The phone just randomly cant charge anymore and when I plugged it the battery charge indicator just keep going on and off but without charging. I tried to reset the phone in factory mode but no result, I tried with differents cables but no result. When the phone was plugged it was very very laggy but as soon as I unplugged it everything was coming back to normal.
Now I have run out of battery and my hopes to get my phone back to life are pretty low considering what I read on this topic. If anyone has a solution please tell us!
I would add that I always took care of my Xiaomi Mi A2 (no fall, no water spilled on it, no overheating) and everything was going well until a few hours ago. I didn't installed any new app since like a week ago (from the PlayStore) and I updated to 8.1 maybe a month ago. I thought waiting so long for Android Pie was annoying but this is way worse. If the situation doesn't evolve I will never buy a Xiaomi phone again. Very disappointed
Mi A2 stopped charging
After 2 month of use and Android pie update this stupid device refuses charging. I'm so very disappointed. I can't believe i fell to this Chinese trap. This is the last time I'm purchasing a Xiaomi phone! "Android One phone".... Yeah right!

In my case, after 4 months of use, just after Android pie update, I have stumbled on my MI A2 lite showing problems with USB connection and charging. The phone is not able to stablish a stable connection to the charger or the computer, it just keeps connecting and reconecting, begin charging and stopping charging.... If I leave the phone charging all night, it seems to finally fully charge. I can't figure how this problem may be related to Android Pie update, so I think it is just coincidence, and the usb connector is faulty, though I don't know the cause.... I think I will try to have it replaced
so did you fix the problem OP? i just started expiriencing what i think is the same problem.

if you go to the battery setting and it's says "plugged in, can't charge right now" then you should try plug in the charger while the phone on fastboot mode and turning it on
(read my previous comment) i experience this issue 2times and it's been running smoothly ever after

Hello,
I have something similar, I'm in Switzerland and running the Pie Rom from Nederland. I don't think it's link to Pie, maybe from a security patch because it didn't come at the same time for me, but this is what I got:
-When I plug my phone to a fast charger, I get "charging for a few second, then not charging"
-If I plug my fast charger and reboot the phone, the phone will charge (I need to double check but I guess slowly)
-I have a Audio-Adapter (USB-C, 3.5mm, USB Type C), so if plug the charger to this Adapter, and them plug the phone, the phone is charging fine (slowly).
So to me it looks like an issue with the fast charging...

No I was not able to fix it. I am talking with my credit card coverage and see what they can do.
I got a different phone in the meantime.
I also got rid of all my other Xiaomi products, never going to give this company a cent in the future. They are cheap for a reason !! Limited support and shady parts used in their devices. They can't be using quality internal components with such cheap prices.
Their mibox also randomly die.
Quantity over quality seems to be their mantra
Guys, it happened to me too,
I've flashed from android one Pie rom, to pixel experience.
Pixel Experience is great rom, was working brilliant for couple of days.
Then it stopped to charge. Now phone has discharged to 0% and I can't do anything.
My assumption is that getting new battery in exchange might help me fix the issue.
I've read that once you move to Pixel Experience Pie version form Android One 9.0 you need to flash kernel to. I did not do that.
Now waiting for the battery to arrive and will see what I can do with it.
Hello guys, really bummed out here.
I recently rediscovered my original mi mix which I had 4 years ago.
Everything was working except the battery couldn't hold a charge. It will charge to 100% and while using the phone it will just shut down randomly. So I changed to a new battery and hoped for the best.
Now with the new battery it's the same. Battery charges up to 100%.i tried the pixel rom, xiomi global rom and now I'm on dotOS, same ****.
The weird thing is I put it in safe mode and the phone has not shut down for 4 hours now but it is stuck at 70%.
If I plug in the cable the phone works fine. The moment I take it out and start using it. It randomly goes into a bootloop and dies. When I charge it back, battery always starts of at 50%
Is there any hope or is it just a beautiful paperweight?

Hi Bro. I sent it to a phone repair shop and they said the issue was with the battery. Replaced a new one and its working like normal again. I probably bought a defective battery
Sounds like a mobo issue.
Try a hard reset ie disconnect the battery.
