Remove moto dialer and contacts - Moto X Q&A

Hi,
My moto x has trouble recognizing contacts if there is a country code in the number stored in the contact. Very annoying.
Can anyone please help me remove it so I can use stock Android apps. I installed the stock apps, but the moto still handles caller ID for some reason.
Many thanks

[Q] Moto X dialer/contacts help

the stock dialer in the moto x second gen shows all my contacts in the people section and it is very annoying. I have over 1,000 total contacts due to a very large email system I have for work. Obviously this is annoying as I have to sort thorough all of them. I can use voice but for making sales calls for work you can forget about somebody.
all the kit kat custom roms I ran on my GS3 all only showed the contacts with numbers. in fact every dialer app I have ever used automatically filters only the contacts with numbers. why is it doing this and is there a work around so i can use the stock dialer and not use an aftermarket one. so far simpler calender is the only dialer close to the stock one in look and feel.
i've seen some mention of using the nexus dialer on the phone but not even sure if i go through all that it would make a difference as not sure if its a lollipop issue or just Moto.

Moto G 2015- Email Address Added As Contacts

Hi, some inconvenients with lollipop
Hello, i was a jellybean user for 2 years, i recently got a moto g 2015 lollipop and have some issues, related to the lollipop so i assume this is the right place even if it is for motog 2014.
theres 3 issues i can't figure out,
1) I have to add a goggle account to the android for it to work with everything right? i mean, the PlayStore app and ****.
For that, i have always used a hotmail address ive had for years which is linked to youtube, facebook etc..
But this lollipop, decided to add a single contact entry for each and all of the emails ive emailed with that account.
Its effin annoying. So i deleted all the contacts I didn't want there, and went to settings-accounts and disabled its SYNC
on that hotmail address. I did that yesterday, and today all the email address contacts were added again today. Wtf
I don't want to create a new clean email account just for the android because I do want my youtube subscriptions alerts.
So what to do?
2) On my previous android device, the jellybean, If i want to delete a whole bunch of contacts. I could check a box next to each of a contact, and select a whole lot, then just hit a DELETE button. In lollipop, the only way is to manually go by one by one of the contacts. select contact, select its details, hit delete. thats a 3click process for ONE contact. I mean. wtf are these guys thinking? Is there a workaround for this?
3) Last but not least. Say i got a missing call on the call registry. And i want to send a message either SMS or whatsapp to that number. In jellybean I could hit the send message button and it would ask me if I wanted to SMS or Whatsapp. AND VOILA. write the message to the number and send it.
In lollipop, theres no message button to numbers that aren't in your contact list. WTF .. I have to add that number to contacts. And then, a send text message button appears next to the name but it only works for SMS, no whatsapp. If i want to whatsapp that number, i'd need open whatsapp and search that newly added entry thru 200 contacts.
i mean seriously. what the **** are these developers thinking.
Sorry for rant. Hope someone has some solutions
Thanks in advance.
Hmmmm I completely understand all the issues and they're all kind of related to the Contacts app on STOCK Lollipop ( stock in caps because its just a truth that skinned versions of Android actually do a better job in their respective dialer and contacts apps or at least that's my experience) and what I've personally done to alleviate some of my contacts issues is to use Contacts+ from the play store. It merges all of your contacts with similar traits etc instead of having 5 different contacts for emails that should be grouped to their respective contact. It also has good organization features. I personally have it set to only show contacts with phone numbers. You can play around with the app and see if you like it. Its also a messaging app and a dialer so an all in one app but I prefer to use it as a contacts app only since I have better alternatives for the others. Check it out. Maybe it'll help and this is not a promo Lol its just that I've personally dealt with this and heard of contacts + and here we are.

Replace standard contacts / dialer?

Does anyone know if it's possible to replace the built in dialer and contact app with the standard Google app?
Also, does anyone know if it's possible to configure Gmail so that when you press a phone number it automatically opens it in the dialer?
Amongst other things these are two features I miss from my recently departed Nexus 5.
Thanks all.

Yes, you can replace contacts and dialler but you'l have some issues, some messages will appear when you are tring to call someone asking you to choose the apk (google one or built in one ), i recomand you to install just google messages

Strange dialler bug

Hi,
Just wondering if anyone can confirm this apparent P10 bug?
When entering the digits of a (numerical) phone number in the dialler, the dialler app closes before I can enter the whole number - usually immediately after the third digit has been entered. It doesn't seem to matter whether the number is associated with an existing contact or not.
I'm running an L09 rebranded to L29 (B171), with a single SIM, and am rooted.
Off to the play store to look for third-party diallers...
At the third digit the dialer starts looking for the number you are dialing in the contact list. Maybe you deleted the default contacts app?
Many thanks M1chiel,
I hadn't deleted the contacts app, but I <had> changed the default messaging app to Google Messages.
Reverting to the stock Huawei Messaging app seems to have fixed the issue. Not sure why this should be (I'm not a fan of the Huawei app....)

It's clearly a bug. I also didn't like the stock app that much, but eventually I got to appreciate it.

Google Dialer app's contacts keep duplicating.

I bought a Moto G6 back in June of 2020 and it's working great. I currently am running stock Android 9. However there is one thing that is bugging me. The Google Dialer app's contact's keep duplicating. It doesn't happen in Google contacts though. It's exclusively in the Google Dialer app. I've updated the app to the latest version (v55.1.335513515), but the issue still persists. I don't believe this issue is related to the phone, or the OS, but I am not sure. So far, I have force stopped the Google Dialer app, and cleared both the storage and cache options; but it doesn't seem to remedy the problem. Since I cannot provide a screenshot showing the actual issue (I don't want to put any personal info of my contacts for obvious reasons) I will show an example of the issue here in text. My contact list in Google Dialer looks like...
Contact 1
Contact 2
Contact 2
Contact 2
Contact 2
Contact 3
Contact 4
Contact 4
Contact 4
Contact 4
Contact 4
Contact 4
Contact 5If there is a solution to this problem, please let me know.
Thank you.
Hmmmm. I think this might be a sync related issue. I downloaded Simple Dialer and ran into the same exact problem with the contact list within the app.
